This stereotype is pretty dumb imo. Spent 4 years in Arkansas and can probably count on one hand, maybe even one finger, the amount of times I've encountered any of this "southern ignorance." Granted Northwest Arkansas is a pretty diverse area because of all the people relocating there for Walmart, but still. The south gets a bad rep for some idiots, but I feel like I've encountered just as many up tight a holes up north. I moved back to my hometown near Albany NY shortly after graduating and I don't think it will be too long before I find myself back down south.

My best friend in high school and my early 20s was convinced George W. was infallible, that the Euro was created to contend with the USD but still wasn't worth as much in value, and that America's privatized health care was the most advanced and comprehensive of the planet.

I've not since him in over 9yrs.

I was waiting for this response. I grew up in the south my whole life. It's a different kind of ignorance. It's a widely accepted ignorance, hell it's a glorified ignorance. Dare you speak out against it or else you're either a Yankee or a devil worshipper. I've been an atheist a majority of my life and growing up here was pure torture. I was forced to listen to creationist ideas being taught as possible facts and was mocked for my beliefs. I wish I was joking, but the way I've been treated the entire time down here, even up until today is just despicable. I never want my children to ever have to grow up in such a close-minded area.

Ah yes, the "Indoctrination ignorance"

As you said, a common occurrence along the bible-belt.

Sadly, there seems to be a new, and just as damning ignorance growing in the nation as well.

I have no clue what to call it, but it's the type of person who is self righteous and so far up their own ass, they fail to see others, may and will have other ideas and ideals than their own and shove their philosophy down anyone who disagrees throat while trying to claim they are progressive at the same time.

I'm not religious, but seeing someone flip out when someone saying "Marry Christmas" or wearing a "Santa Cap" is just getting out of hand.

(As usual, forgive my grammar. It gets progressively worse the more tired I am)

That ignorance exists in the north as well.

Most people are loyal to some idea that they'll defend simply because they're afraid to think freely. It's quite concerning. And it's not even limited to just religion or politics.

Seriously, just as an example, look at how many people taunt and can even become violent over sport teams.

Sorry if it's been mentioned before but if you choose No Rush Delivery option on Amazon and they give you that $1 dollar credit, you could accumulate that credit and when you get at least $10 in credit you use it for digital items such as $10 worth of Xbox digital gift card and I believe PSN cards as well. Even when you're short, you could at least get the digital gift card discounted by using the No Rush Delivery credits. I'm not sure if you need Prime for that option to show up.

I don't know if that was a jab at me haha. I really couldn't care less about what people do. I still say Merry Christmas, I don't get offended by much except blatant racism. People can keep whatever religion they want, I'm fine with that. The issue I have is when they start effecting people around them with their poor decisions.

Sorry, but this is simply not true in all areas of the South. I have never had any issues like this in Greenville, SC. Our schools certainly do not teach creationism as fact. And I've never been treated any differently than I ever was in Pennsylvania. If anything, I've been treated better.

Despite being home to Bob Jones University, the vast majority of people in this area are open minded (and based on the growth in the area probably at least 50% Yankees anyway).

That's not to say that it doesn't happen. Particularly in the more rural areas, but to generalize about the entire South is wrong.

I lived 30 minutes away from Greenville. It's a great city, that growth barely started 10 years ago though. Leave 20 minutes outside of your precious city limits and you'll understand. There are random oases scattered about, but they're few and far between.

Edit: and don't forget good old Spartanburg ;)

I live in Simpsonville so not right in Greenville and still haven't experienced any issues. I do agree if you get out further like Pickens or something, you may run into it.

My point was just that it isn't the mindset of the entire South. I honestly don't think I'll ever move up north again because I really like it here.

There are always going to be some a$$holes on every side of the fence - religious, racist, etc. - in all areas of country. You'll never be completely rid of it.

Probably shouldn't say this here but look at Trump. The epitome of a$$holes. (And I have no party preference)

Well call it "entitled" where I come from. They think the world owes them everything and anything done the "old/regular" way is not right. I call them Bernie Sanders Army and think they we're loved either too much or not enough as a child. (And possibly not disciplined enough).

Back on topic of games; SMITE!!!! I can't begin to go into detail how much I love that game. Get a new game and when I get burned out, I can always pop on Smite and enjoy some assault. I'm also looking forward to seeing how PVZ:GW2 beta is going to be, really enjoyed the first game. The first one was so well done and polished/balanced, plus free dlc. Then to top it off I'll probably play a few rounds of R6: Siege to try out the new update and pray they fixed the stupid hit-boxes.

Played last night. Not sure what was patched, and maybe I'm just getting better, but I absolutely killed it. Won nearly everything and was consistently one of the best players. That's rather rare since I basically suck.

Entitled was the word I was looking for.

I actually agree with Bernie Sanders in many respects. The problem is, when people lean to far one way or another with their beliefs, that it becomes impossible for them to accept any other view other than their own.

Oddly, I originally tried Smite before I played a MOBA. Going into it like an action rpg, thinking I could just take mobs with no problem... the failure to realize the genre and the odd lock of not being able to look up or down on the mouse (without fixing the options). I really need to try it again.

Also thank you guys for keeping me engaged, trying to reset my sleep schedule and reading these posts are helping.

Sadly, there seems to be a new, and just as damning ignorance growing in the nation as well.

I have no clue what to call it, but it's the type of person who is self righteous and so far up their own ass, they fail to see others, may and will have other ideas and ideals than their own and shove their philosophy down anyone who disagrees throat while trying to claim they are progressive at the same time.

I'm not religious, but seeing someone flip out when someone saying "Marry Christmas" or wearing a "Santa Cap" is just getting out of hand.

Yes it does. And in most cases, there is no tax on digital downloads. I just purchased the Street Fighter 5 digital download code for $49 with the use of $11 worth of Amazon no-rush shipping bonuses.
