I assume Microsoft has a budget for how much they are willing to spend on Third Party exclusivity, I just barely bought Tomb Raider because of all the great praise it has been receiving. They say the gameplay is good on Street Fighter but it basically has no story mode and a bunch of other restricted modes and doesn't sound like a finished game with working servers.

Since I have an Xbox one and not a PS4, I am glad Microsoft used that budget money on Tomb Raider instead of Street Fighter. It sounds like I'm not missing much. Still no exclusive ps title that makes me want to buy a ps4 yet.

SFV has always been about competitive play, from the arcades to consoles, so no story mode doesn't bother me. But yeah, its releasing very barebones due to having to rush it out for Esport play. I own both systems and PS4 has a lot of smaller exclusive games but very few bad ass AAA ones. I have Until Dawn, Soma, Bloodborne, Helldivers, and GOW III Remastered. I haven't played any of them yet due to my obsession with achievements but I'm sure I will love them when I get around to them.

 
Street Fighter V is.....an experience. 

-ps3 stick support has input lag (zero input lag on ps4 Skullgirls which uses the same thing)

-No arcade mode on release (I often don't care about single player modes, but this is ridiculous)

-online servers work when they feel like it

-Full game's onlne play is somehow worse than the multiple betas that preceded it.

-2 man lobbies (which also only works when it feels like it)

-Frame drops OFFLINE

-Lots of shit that isn't finished (You can earn but not unlock costumes) but the game taunts you with anyway.

Apparently, there is a glitch that lets you start out with full super meter (ALPHA 3 mode!) but I haven't seen it. Also, that's not counting the issues Steam users are complaining about it. Game is a mess of legendary proportions which pisses me off because the core gameplay is solid and the best  Capcom has done in over a decade.

I agree with GiantBomb though in the assessment that the way it is made, is great for people that already love the game, but doesn't make it appealing for new players. That's how I feel about most modern fighters though, they are getting so complex and so unfriendly to casual players.

It's funny that such an unfinished experience is getting such high scores on metacritic. Goes to show that the experience reviewers have may not mirror the initial launch title.

Very true, I stopped playing most fighters around the time Marvel Vs. Capcom came out. There was just tooooooo much shit to learn and coming from the days of fighters like SF 2 and Mortal Kombat 1/2, I just didn't care for all the extra shit.

In todays market though, Killer Instinct walks that fine line of casual complexity. Easy to learn, difficult to master.

That's true, I was having fun with Killer Instinct the other weekend. I turned the difficult down and was able to get through some cpu battles.

It's been pretty fun so far but hopefully they patch it soon. Split screen causes a ton of crashes, and the party system is broken. Only a few people are getting to play with friends, it's just not working right. Solo play is near flawless though.

I recently got a chance to play some 1v1 with a buddy of mine, and I thought Fulgore would be my fav buy holy heck since they made Shadow Jago his own character with his own moves, I look like a rabid dog being attacked by bees! Sometimes I go in for an attack and then I think I'm being attacked back somehow but no it's just me attacking from the other side. LOVE that game, the initial reason I got the :xb1: to begin with.

Consider me aboard the Rocket League hype train. Watched a few more streams last night and looks really fun. Have it unplaced on both PC and PS4, but will likely grab it on X1 cause that's where all my friends are at.

It does seem that if you can play with the same people consistently you can build up some chemistry which leads to annoy more success (like in all sports)

That's how Capcom has made fighters since last generation started with Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, which is why the only fighting games I've purchased in that span were Mortal Kombat and Injustice.

I felt the same until I played it. Had a bunch of friends that bought it, so bought it too. Surprisingly fun and I like all the unlockables.

Press Left, Then Up when teammates score to give them some praise for scoring.

Press Left, Then Right to thanks teammates that give you praise.

Press LB and check your Ping. If you have a red Ping, quit right away because you're the asshole making everybody's experience miserable.

 
Not sure on the hate for SFV here... I am really enjoying my time with it. Yes it is barebones but right now they clearly are just marketing to core fighting game players anyway and for esports and I am fine with that.

Also Rocket League is amazing. Got it free with PS+ when it was released but never played it. Obviously heard all the positive feedback on it but generally play my ps4 solo and so I do not have many friends to play with. Have waited then since they announced the X1 version and loading it up last night me and my buddy didn't turn it off for hours. We got completely lost in it and it was just an absolute blast. I got a chance to play with my younger brother today (who has problems with depression/mental issues and rarely just lets himself be happy) and even HE was smiling and laughing the WHOLE time we played. I am so happy I have this game and so excited to play even more! : )

 
To unlock the Hogsticker: win a game with each car, not counting Armadillo. Season-mode games may or may not count. Quickest is 1v1 exhibition, to one goal and with bots disabled. Yes, you're hitting to an empty net.

Neither fancy car is customizable, although you do unlock hubcaps. Would be nice if you could unlock their trails.

Hahah no it seemed (and clearly is) much more fun when playing with friends on your team or against them. Plus my PS4 is up in the bedroom whereas the second X1 is in the basement and so I have the consoles physically set up then where one is more for quite single player gaming and the other is for more playful loud online play!

What are you babbling on about? I asked a question because it seemed weirdly amusing to have the game and not play it even if it's solo. That's it. Considering he got the humor of the question, you should probably stop forcing yourself into other people's discussions so you can get offended for them. Want me to actually be a dick? Just ask and I can come up with something for you.

Yeah, it's the equivalent of Sweet Tooth's Ice Cream Truck. It shouldn't matter what you play (exhibition, online, or season) for anything like that unless an achievement specifically mentions a mode.

I'm sorry but Capcom launching a numbered edition of Street Fighter bare bones is not really excusable at all let alone to expect them to fix it. Saying that any publisher that launched a game borderline broken (control input, lag, matchmaking, etc. not working in a fighting game make it basically broken) or severely lacking in features and expecting them to fix it at all only encourages that kind of crap behavior and these games rarely see fundamental changes after the fact. More than likely they'll patch it enough to get it stabilized and stop people from complaining and then it's time for Super Street Fighter V.

I suppose I see the reasoning but I am pretty sure you could give SFV to two different people and they would love or hate it depending on the person. I really couldn't care less about single player stuff and really just want to get my hands on the game and delve in to training and crank out some disgusting combos for competitive play and then obviously play it online. Matchmaking was taking a long while for me but none of the matches saw any lag once connected and I did not experience a single frame of input lag.

I have been playing SF since I can remember and so I guess to me I just trust them enough. Many games have shaky online performance at launch but I know for a fact they will get their shit in line and quickly in regards to that.

I am by no means defending it for the average gamer though because yeah I can totally see all that it is lacking but like I said for my purpose right now I am cool with it. Again I say 'cool with it' because we all knew what we were getting content-wise. They said what modes we were getting at launch and gave their plans for the future. Like I said I trust what they say they will be doing for the future because they have proven themselves time and time again to make one of the most solid fighting experiences in all of gaming history.

That being said... I will probably end up playing Rocket League tonight hahaha : P
