It was "confirmed" yesterday because a listing showed up on PSN. Although nothing was mentioned about a remastered Modern Warfare, rumours have it that it will be officially announced by next Tuesday.

 
I don't even care about the new game, I just want the Remaster code. I already have Gears 4, Titanfall 2, and Battlefield 5 on my plate around that time so I've no need for CoD.

The Pitchford hate more or less started with Colonial Marines being shit. First was his straight up lie of an E3 demo, and the fact that they farmed out development without telling anyone which they then threw under the bus when the game sucked. Even though they were the studio that was hired by Sega to make it. Add to that the unconfirmed but plausible theory that the reason CM took so long to be made was their own focus on Borderlands while still being paid to make Aliens.

on xbox one when I am in instant mode how often does it check for updates? does it check for updates for all my software including digital and physical games installed?

I've read conflicting things and I like to keep everything updated all the time if I can to prepare for the zombie invasion

You have to leave it on instant on for more then a day. From experience after the second day it downloads most of the updates. I've had to leave mine on for 3+ days before everything was updated.

System updates usually work for instant on as long as It's been on instant on for at least a day. Then everytime a new system update drops you get it ASAP.

I just wish they would give us the option to check for updates on all our titles at once it would be a lot less hassle.

"Better" is subjective, but look at it this way. Tropico 5 hasn't even released yet on Xbox One (releases May 24th) and will be $50 but is free for PS Plus members.

Yes, I realize there are some differences in the versions, but if you have any interest in Tropico 5, PS Plus is pretty nice this month.

Better is definitely subjective. I thought Sony would knock it out of the park this month and imho they didn't. But yes, if you like Tropico then Tropico 5 is a huge get for PS+ users.

You're counting spin-offs too though. If we start doing the same with Final Fantasy we're going to fill up CAG database.

Finest Hour is COD1 console version (same as Big Red One is COD2 console). Declassified is a PS Vita spin-off. Strike Team is a smartphone cashgrab (which I didn't know about).

BO3 is "just" COD 11.

At launch it was horrendous - enemies would run through objects, the AI was dogmeat, co-op would crash, there were save-deleting glitches, the works. They put out a patch after a month or so that fixed a lot of it, but it was still a pretty bland corridor shooter with cheap enemies. The aliens still do ridiculous damage and the AI fluctuates between Top Pro Cunning Bastards that will ambush the hell out of you or dumb brutes that slowly run in straight lines. The AI companions only ever serve was meatshields, and pretty poor ones since they go down in 3-4 hits.

I paid $6 for two disc copies about a month after release, and me and my bro who are huge Alien fans played about halfway through the second or third mission before it was just too tedious to pick up again. If you are totally invested in the IP and can pick it up for less than $5, the campaign on easy for the story could potentially be worthwhile. I doubt it, especially since if you really cared why not just youtube the cutscenes and spend $0?

Im in the same boat. I havent even bothered to dl any of their "free" games in months. As soon as my PS+ expires in July I wont bother re subscribing unless I can get a year for next to nothing.

This. Even as a big fan of the Alien franchise and as someone who is not above enjoying trashy, janky games from time to time, I could only make it a couple of missions into the campaign. It's just a bad, un-fun game.

A lot of bugginess throughout and it's painfully generic. It was made a lot worse by the announcement being really good and Pitchford playing up how much he loves and respects the license, which made Gearbox look even worse when we found out they barely did any work on the game. The team they farmed out was inexperienced and rushed, and Gearbox came in at the very end to try and polish the trash that was made. A lot of this stuff isn't in the final game, both what is seen and what is talked about.

Colonial Marines was a fiasco in itself, but just another complaint on the pile of why people don't trust anything Pitchford says. He's Molyneux 2.0 more or less. He seems like he's crumbling in the Battleborn promotion I've seen him in, he seems nervous, though that could be the lukewarm reception a lot of people have had.

Hell, this hasn't got many views yet but John Romero's Kickstarter posted an endorsment from Pitchford that had to disable comments and has more dislikes than likes.

Sony just doesn't have any need to impress anyone right now. This is why competition is good for the consumer. Sony will, of course, need to impress everyone in a few months when they totally bungle Neo, confuse the market, and tick off their current fan base. Maybe we'll finally get Knack for free then. :)

 
I played through Aliens CM at launch on PC. Granted I didn't okay any of it solo, but I didn't think it was as bad as everyone said, it just became cool to bash on. Obviously it was a disappointment given the hype leading up to it, and it definitely had it's share of glitchy moments, but I'd say it's somewhere in the range of a 6/10

Also the fact that Pitchford and Gearbox weren't honest about the development didn't help spare them from the wrath of the internet

Now that is good. The atmosphere is amazing and if you liked Alien then you should enjoy it. I love survival horror games, that's my favorite genre. They don't actually scare me though but that game right there is intense and actually had me on the edge of my seat.

Isolation, to me, was a great idea stretched waaaaay too thin. It would have been perfect as a 5-8 hour $20 XBL/PSN smaller release. But the seemingly infinite backtracking and door-opening spread out over 14 goddamn missions, making the completion 25-30 hours, just gets so tedious halfway through.

Its good, but still maybe a 6.5, 7 at most to me. A lot of people swear by it though, so I know I'm in the minority.
 
Colonial Marines isn't great, or even good, but it's playable and has a few cool moments that are reminiscent of the movies. Then again, Isolation came along and made an entire game of that, so I guess CM is pretty much useless at this point.

I also really enjoyed Duke Nukem Forever. I guess I'm a sadist. But CM was far worse than DNF, at least at launch.

I thought it was ok and if memory serves, I finished it. It is a bit jarring at first, having played more polished games (most anything), but it isn't horrible. However, I didn't play it at launch - I think I bought the CE for $10 a few years ago. So...if you're big into Aliens and set your expectations low, I think you'd get $5 of value out of it. It isn't going to change your world tho.

 
 
Interesting that almost everyone said Black Ops 1. That's the next one I was going to play.

I liked Modern Warfare 1 and 2. CoD 2 and WoW were decent at best.

Co-op isn't going to seem that great when both players have to get through Propeller Knight's stage.

I dunno how well Kratos fit in the game, but the Battletoads armor is fantastic and turns it into the closet thing to a Battletoads sequel in 20 years.

Absolutely not. Any true Hitman fan knows what they're pulling here is BS. It's been months since it released and you're expected to pay almost retail for something where you won't see all the content yet. Piecemealing the levels out to you is ridiculous and apparently this game hasn't sold that well anyway. They're bound to lower the price. The full version will be given away like it's herpes when all the levels drop.
