If you have a Wii U, I highly recommend getting it working on there. HDMI with native widescreen support, it looks and plays great.

Seeing a demo of this game when the Gamecube first came out is what sold me on the system. And the fact they made a two part mission around the acquisition of the Death Star plans blew my mind. I'd say I squealed like a girl too, but that would be redundant.

 
My favorite thing about Bioshock Infinite is Elizabeth's shock and disgust at seeing you kill someone before quickly adapting to you killing everything in sight within minutes in much more brutal terrifying fashion.

Ehhhh....I for one, couldn't wait till Bioshock 2 came out. I was so disappointed when it released. The story was such a mess(later learned they flip -flopped on the plot so much. That explained a lot). Minerva's Den was excellent. Sad that the dlc's story was more coherent.

When I get the collection, I'll enjoy B1, avoid B2 like the plague, play thru Minerva's Den and finish it off by playing BI and the excellent Under the Sea dlc

A shitty cash-in would be the existence of the remaster collection in general. Bioshock 2 was effing fantastic. I can't own it without multiplayer though; that was one of the most unique and awesome online FPS experiences at the time (and still is, when I can find people to play with that own the DLC).

I don't see how anyone can skip that game and jump right into Infinite. It may have been more of the same, but that's not a bad thing considering Bioshock has never been imitated or duplicated since. Infinite was a very forgettable game, aside from CCR and fighting a stupid ghost in a cemetery. It was unique, but it didn't feel like Bioshock aside from the time period. I hear the DLC is more Bioshocky, but I sold the game as soon as I finished it.

Minerva's Den was incredible, on par with the first BioShock story.

I feel this way bout B2. Completely forgettable. All I remember is a few encounters(not gonna spoil anything, on mobile). Meanwhile, I recall almost everything bout B1 and B:I

I think as a game Infinite is kinda meh, but it's probably my favourite game of ALL TIME for how many whiny, entitled articles it inspired from the Social Justus movement complaining about the Vox Populi's actions. Levine should have won a Pulitzer for that game.
 
I avoided ALL internet forums end of March back in 2013, when Infinite came out. Took me a few weeks to finish it and not even a week of browsing this thread after that, somebody posted a spoiler.

To be fair, it's been 3 1/2 years since it came out. I still have The Last of Us I need to even open, but if somebody spoiled it for me......its been many years since it came out. That'd be like if someone got upset for seeing a "certain spoiler" for The Force Awakens. You be treading dangerous waters anyways....

To be fair, for said spoiler, was that not totally predictable as soon as you meet said character? M. Night Shymalon movie, this is not.

I felt jipped when I saw the ending. Like seeing Saw 7 for the first time, where I had the ending of that movie guessed since the beginning of Saw 2. Like "this is so obviously a twist that it can't be THE twist, can it?"

I never finished the first one because it was spoiled for me in a Dragon Quest thread of all places, and now I'm not going to continue Infinite despite enjoying it a lot. I thought it was common sense that Darth Vader is the only safe pop culture spoiler.

Seriously tho, is story the only reason you play games? Do you expect anything new or suprising to happen in any of the Batman games? Were you the one guy asking for the story focus in Fight Night Champion and Need for Speed?

For me, I had played System Shock 1 & 2, so the twist in Bioshock was totally obvious.
In every -shock game, you are being manipulated by people who aren't what they say they are.
The story was well written and interesting, but I finished that game cause I spent 2/3 addicted to that one-two shock & wrench combo and the last 1/3 blowing all the special ammo I had stockpiled.

Seriously, Infinite isn't that old and with the collection being released, I've no doubt a few people are getting to it for the first time. These games in particular are pretty story driven, so IMHO it's an extra shit thing to do.

 
Not to take away from the Infinite spoilers discussion but Stranger Things on Netflix is really good.

Infinite is also the only Bioshock game I beat. Played halfway through 1 and like 20 minutes of 2. Talk about ass backwards

Son of a...I'm one of those people that has to read every post rather than just skip to the latest page, and I've yet to play Bioshock 2 or Infinite.  That spoiler stung a bit.  If I would've just skipped to the most recent page, I would've known to not look back.  Oh well. I guess it technically saved me some hours there.

The million dollar question though:  Should I still play Bioshock 2?  Just kidding. I'm not trying to rekindle that flame. I'm going to play it because it's in my Ultimate Rapture Edition or whatever it's called.

If it makes you feel any better, I thought Infinite was easily the worst of the trilogy gameplay-wise, and the story wasn't that amazing either (the setting is the best thing about it). Also, it marked the transformation of Ken "I like things that make me feel dumb, so I decide to make entire plots around those things" Levine into an indefensible hack.

This. 2 is underrated. Of course Minerva's Den (which Levine had absolutely nothing to do with) blows 2 away, but it's hard to compete with that level of quality.

*edit* I also liked BS2 and beat it, but I thought BS1 was more fun. BS2 just felt like they tried too hard to "improve" everything in BS1, like Big Sisters being more agile and unpredictable opponents than Big Daddies. I never really got hooked by Infinite and only played an hour or so in.

If you haven't played them, don't let a few story spoilers dissuade you from checking out the gameplay. And hell, West Side Story is just Romeo & Juliet but that doesn't mean that's why it's not worth seeing (it's not worth seeing because it's a musical, not because it's an adaptation).

I assume you have to mod the Wii U in some way to get Gamecube games running?

It does not surprise me. I am sure it is trivial considering the Nintendo hardware iterations have been very similar the last few generations. I am not much into modding. I do play Rogue Squadron II every now and then on the Wii which also looks and plays amazing. Back when I purchased the game in 2001 I did not have HD TV or a home theater system. I was just happy to play the game on my 32" tube television in 480i (using composite cables yuck!). It is nice to go back and play these old games and appreciate them in progressive scan and surround sound today. FZero GX is another amazing Gamecube game to play on modern TVs.

Sorry everyone. If it makes you feel any better, I thought Infinite was easily the worst of the trilogy gameplay-wise, and the story wasn't that amazing either (the setting is the best thing about it). Also, it marked the transformation of Ken "I like things that make me feel dumb, so I decide to make entire plots around those things" Levine into an indefensible hack.

Stop making me want a Wii U. I have all 3 of the games and they still hold up really well on their original hardware.

If I had a better rig, I'd go the Dolphin route, but setting up a Wii U for it is probably even better.

RIP Rogue Squadron HD Trilogy and Factor 5, you deserved so much better. :-({|=

It runs via hacks on the Wii mode, yes. But it's very easy to set up and has a ~99% compatibility rate because it's not emulating anything, the Wii hardware side of the U is capable of natively running Gamecube games. Games look great over HDMI and the Wii U can naturally expand the FOV to 16:9, nothing gets stretched. Dolphin will give you higher resolutions and all those bells and whistles, but for me, this is perfect. Plus with the SSB adapter you can use original controllers. Given this, the absence of GC games on the VC is even more perplexing.

I could go into greater detail but I don't want to hijack the thread any more than I already have.

Semi on-topic, the closing of Factor 5 was a real downer, Rogue Squadron balanced fan service and gameplay to make my favorite Star Wars games. Those games deserve an HD remaster more than most of the ones coming out and it'll never happen.

I have only played a bit of BS1 and have finished Infinite (was free on PSN). I will probably pick the collection up when cheaper and give 1 another try. Got lost early and didn't really care. Spoiler or not if I want to play a game I will even if it was spoiled.

I try not to spoil games or shows but I sort of feel for 95% of people if they really were interested in a game they would have played by now. It wasn't a console exclusive and has been dirt cheap at various times. I think I paid like $5 each for BS1 and BS2 (on PS3).

Even with spoiler tags I have seen spoilers. Sometime Tapatalk still shows what is in the tags when it alerts you of new posts or something.

Not sure if the poster did it on purpose to be a dick or just made a mistake. Hopefully just made a mistake.

Hopefully most people can still enjoy the game.

I know it's a major game that "everyone has played by now", but in reality this is CAG where we spend much more time collecting games than actually playing them so spoiler tags are always essential.

 
Has anyone redeemed their Forza Warthog code, but has been unable to install it? It says I redeemed it but when I manage game it shows nothing as ready to install.

I'm wavering on the BioShock collection now. Fall is pretty packed already, and I could wait for a price drop... but it sure would be fun to revisit those games.

Spoilers for a remastered game or for a game on sale is a dick move. Plenty of people will be trying it for the first time in both instances.

Did you pre order Forza Horizon 3? It shows up under my FH3 pre order under manage games, as a 10MB Gift Car - Halo Warthog. Its only for FH3, not the previous Forza's.

I'd definitely wait on bioshock, it'll hit $20-25 quickly and people say the port is just ok, not great. FPS issues in some spots, etc. Wouldn't be surprised to see a patch to fix all those things. With so many great upcoming new games I'd rather play that them than BS, even though I have free upgrades for BS1 & 2 on my PC.

I did pre-order. It showed up under the demo yesterday, but when I pre-ordered last night it disappeared under both the game and the demo.

Yea watched all 8 episodes in one sitting yesterday. The hype was real.

One month free trials are so clutch. Still have 13 days left and already watched all episode Stranger Things, OitNB S3 & S4, & Making a Murderer. Just need to finish Jessica Jones & the rest of Narcos S1 and the S2.

Lots of stuff this week. Have the Deus ex seasons pass so will be getting the dlc, and FH3 ultimate. Also really interested in The Bunker, but would rather it around $10. I grew up on the era of FM games on the Sega CD, so I imagine it will appeal to me. Virginia also looks cool so will wait for a sale
