Played a bit more of Earthlock and it does get a little better (the grating music at the beginning of the game, thank goodness, changes). Introduces a more complex skill system where traits can either apply to one party member or can be switched between members depending upon where you spend your points.

Also has some light puzzle elements and bosses (the first one was a cakewalk, however).

Still can't give a firm recommendation. But might be worth playing further in than what your initial impressions may be.

Easily one of my favorite games (that runs on an old MacBook Pro.)

That's how I felt about the Hitman game they pieced out to everyone. Pay 60 bucks up front and let them throw a few levels together over the course of the next year. Remember Blood Money when we had tons of awesome big maps and it all came in one package? I don't want to support this kind of industry where they take our money and then start working. We're not investors, we're consumers.

Question for you dudes.. what the hell is this Xbox Live Rewards thing, and how come I've never ever been rewarded anything? I buy digital games almost exclusively now, I do play those games, I've had Xbox Live for damn near 8 years. What am I missing?

Thanks for the link. I figured I was missing something but I don't get why it's not just linked to your account.. my GT is on there. I've never gotten a single point or anything there. Guess I'll have to ask at the support site. And yeah I haven't logged in here much but that shouldn't matter should it?

I wouldnt think so? I've been a member since 2010, and I've got about $20 back in 6 years... not anything to be too excited about. And I've never got more then i think 1 star. I usually buy M$ credit when it goes on sale, and if you pay with M$ credit you dont get rewards back, or if you use codes to extend your subscription. This is pretty much only for when you use a CC or Paypal on the store. Which even tho I'm 100% digital since Xbone came out, I dont get much back because of the cards i buy lol.

 
$20 in 6 years? That's crazy. I've been a member since 2012 and I've gotten $160 in Rewards. It all adds up over time and for a free service I can't complain.

What a BS restriction.. I buy digital codes all the time for credit and Gold. MS is getting paid for it regardless, so why should it matter?

 
Xbox Rewards has been around for a long time, believe I got onboard when it launched. I think I've got about almost around $100 back through it.

Seems they fixed the dual Pandora app issue and mine now works in the background which is really nice. Iheartradio doesn't work yet though. Any word on when that will happen?

The season pass seemed like it wasn't worth the price they were asking for when they posted what was going to be in it....

As long as they don't shut down the servers (EA Sports style) when BF2 comes out, then I will enjoy it.

You get XBL Rewards credit for buying things with your MS credit balance. If you buy a card from a store that is branded for a game, but the card just redeems for MS credit that can be used for the game (or anything), that should count toward rewards. If you buy a code that is a game redemption token, I don't think that counts toward rewards. You used to be able to earn rewards for extending your subscription, but that ended a while ago. I don't remember when exactly, but perhaps it was a consequence of Games with Gold starting, which to me seems like a more than fair trade off.

 
Firewatch is one of my favorite games of the year but yeah if your not in to those type of games then steer clear. It's in the same vein as Gone Home and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.
 
I never understood why I get so little back through Xbox Rewards either. Been a member since 2012 and have spent a good bit and only have accumulated a total of 51,100 points over the span.

And 30,000 of that came from two MS store pre-order bonuses.

I don't get it. And, yes, it is under the same email address as my XBL account.
 
Looks like I've gotten about $77 in rewards, having signed up the day it started. I have $30 of that was from MSstore pre-orders, and $9 was some screw up last month. Personally I think the program isn't very good overall, with said $15 being the only good normal deal. You have to spend quite a bit to get the normal monthly specials so I've only ever gotten one since I don't go out of my way to achieve them.

I was in the beta version of it too, and I earn around $10 in that short period alone, so the huge nerf to the real program always bother me.

You still get whatever % back depending on what rating you are in the rewards program for paying with Xbox creditz
 
$163.50 earned in credits and 1300MS points. There were times where they gave me double rewards for some of the promos and stuff. Xbox rewards has been good to me

The free year of Gold for 2016 is now available on Microsoft ExpertZone if you have access, which you can get if you work somewhere that sells Xbox games.

Most of this was earned when the % points back rewards were not as incredibly high as they are now.

 
I'm thoroughly enjoying the Capcom Arcade Cabinet. Savage Bees, which unlocks with the purchase of the All in One Pack, wasn't available on any of the previous Capcom retro collections. It's a very simple but enjoyable shmup. I'm also enjoying Son Son and can't wait to replay Ghosts N Goblins. These games remind me of the days when I used to play 1943 at Pizza Hut. That was 30 years ago...

The only thing that would make Rewards better would be if they let us pay for games using a combination of real money and credits. I'd love to pay for my digital games that way. I hate agonizing over buying certain games using a chunk of precious credit or my hard earned dough, all or nothing.
 
I removed battlefield 1 from things I want day 1. It feels so much like Battlefield 4 that I will just play that.

I'm thinking Titanfall 2 will be my shooter this fall, if I could get that Modern Warfare game without the $60 add on game then I might grab that too.
 
I always liked the CoD games but haven't enjoyed multiplayer since Black Ops 1. That trailer looks like exactly what I miss in those games.
