According to the Steam people, the final size of the game after the update on PC is like 68 GBs, so I assume a lot of code was rewritten so it could be better compressed with this update (similar to what happened to Gears 4). Unfortunately, that does mean you have to redownload a lot of it.

I also assume that part of the reason for the improved compression in this update is because this'll be the last major update for the game in general.

The DLC was only 10 megs last time I downloaded it, last I remember, or just several small files around that size.

edit: and to confirm, yeah that update is 58.3 GB. Well then, won't be playing it for now...dumb data limits.

I hear Destiny 2 has a Beta out but yeah that's about how much Battlefield: Hardline was lol. Thank god people go to sleep at night, downloaded it over the sleep schedule. Game's sitting in my library, I'll boot 'er up tonight after all these people go to bed and get off my network lol.

I watched SSSniperWolf play Destiny 2 beta live, that was enough for me. Never got into the first one.

Basically those who already have Doom installed, have to reinstall it entirely over again, which is a waste of bandwidth to me right now.

I've been wanting to try the Injustice series for a while but $20+tax still feels a little steep for my blood even with the $4 back.... especially when I can buy it overpriced at gamestop for $14.99

Edit: Is this digital version the Ultimate Edition? If not I can buy the Ultimate Edition new for $20 at walmart and still get $11 trade in credit to gamestop....

I don't think the ultimate edition exists digitally other than buying both the game and the season pass. I was hoping for the same as you.

That's disappointing. Not just because it was Oman Wars game, but $16 for the standard edition when every other platform has the Ultimate for $20 is lame. Can't they run one-day sales ON TOP OF this promo?

Digital version is Standard. And yeah, I bought the Ultimate Edition from Walmart when it was $8 this past Black Friday (in preparation for it being BC, which turns out to have paid off). Also, all the Ultimate Edition stuff is on the disc, no codes.

The Ultimate Edition not only includes the game and the Season Pass, it includes the 2 DLC characters that aren't in the Season Pass (Martian Manhunter and Zatanna, two highly requested picks), all the DLC skins and all the DLC STARR Lab missions.

On 360/Xbone, it doesn't exist digitally. It sucks but since the Xbone is the only platform that didn't get a port of the Ultimate Edition (because WB and Sony have been butt buddies since the PS3 days), buying piecemeal is the only option you have if you want to own everything digitally both on 360/Xbone.

I was hoping that it would end up being something like that given the insane size. Is that just an XB1 thing that developers have just recently figured out how to do and they've always been able to compress better on PS4? Apparently the PS4 update is around 23 GB which is still huge for an update but less than half of XB1 so obviously not the whole game over again.

How do you think I find the stuff that's counting down to date night? Though they must have caught on somewhat, because when Game Pass launched, incoming discounts on those titles were in the HTML similar to EA titles. But those don't show up any more.

I'm not sure to be honest. We'd have to see what the final download sizes are for both the PS4 and Xbone versions. Like I said earlier the PC version is around 68 GBs once it's properly updated, so I expect the PS4/Xbone versions to be around that size. Keep in mind that the Xbone X patch (and probably PS4 Pro patch) will most likely add to the size, though I can't imagine it'll be near 100 GBs again.

In any case, I'm glad that efforts are being made to improve compression as that'll be vital going forward, especially with the Xbone X having 4k assets.

If I decide unwrap my physical copy of doom I bought last black Friday, would the dlc pop up in game management as "ready to install"? I haven't gotten around to doom yet but its slowly working its way up my list of games to play and tend keep my games wrapped up to know which ones I need to play still.

I think all the DLC is included in the massive title update

 
Speaking of Doom, is there any way to play with bots by yourself?  I know you have to be online, but whenever I try to play a private match with bots, it always says "At least two players are required".  In the Steam forums, people say this is possible with the PC version, but I don't know if it's just not an option on console or if I'm missing something.

I thought that movie looked terrible, but the price is right.

Anyone starting Doom for the first time this weekend, I recommend remapping the Glory Kill to RB instead of R3 (which is the default). You use it so much, after playing it for a few hours my right hand got a pretty bad cramp from using R3 so often, but on RB it was fine (and more efficient, IMO).

Doom is now 76.8 GB on PS4. The only larger game I have on there is Elder Scrolls Online at 86.4 GB.

Looking forward to Dunkirk. Seeing it at Imax tonight. As for kiki's, it's one of my least favorite ghibli movies. Saw Totoro last month, might go to the rest of the showings this year though. My brother wants to see Valeria, will try to see it but he might be DJing.

Kiki is actually my favorite and Valeria looks fun, in a big dumb CG spectacle kinda way, but there are so many movies that I can easily put it on the back burner and Atomic Blonde is next weekend.

Thanks. I just finished through DmC and its DLC and I really enjoyed it, so seems like I'll be buying the collection.

 
Although I enjoyed it more taking my time and maxing out abilities/achievements/etc., you could very easy finish the SP during the trial. There's a lot of nonlinear level progression and exploration, though, true to the 90s roots, and rushing through Doom in ~2 days might not let you appreciate that as much.

I think the trial only lets you play the first two levels of single player.

You could however knock out all the MP achievements in that time.

 
CoD: WWII Zombies trailer is due at some point today during SDCC. Glen Schofield is behind this one, and he was the executive producer on Dead Space 1...

He also weirdly replaced Scott Weiland in Stone Temple Pilots post-reunion. Clearly, fronting that band is a bad idea.

Edit - I just looked it up and realized he took his own life. Definitely not trying to make light of such a thing.

Edit 2 - Apparently he was good friends with Chris Cornell, and today would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday. I wonder if it's a coincidence, but dying the same way Cornell did on his birthday sure sounds like not-a-coincidence. Very sad.
