Thanks for the post on the Groove music deal. Silly question though: when it's over, will it auto-sub like the free 30-day trial says it will? Need to pay attention to dates if so.
 
Just hit the maximum on Groove. I've never actually used a streaming service for music so I guess I'll sort of get with the times finally.

2 years and 9 months, or 33 total months seems like an odd cut off. 

 
After seeing all the discussion about Forza Horizon 3 in here forever I decided to finally give it a try. I'm average at racing games so the fact that it gives you steady progression and you can rewind if you make a major mistake is really nice. I now understand all the fondness for it.

you might want to get some of that free groove music pass up above, love listening to my own playlists driving around in Horizon, a feature sadly cut from the Xbox 1 so they can get you to buy the Groove thing

In case it's not obvious to anyone else, for those Groove Music Pass codes, if you pick one that has not been used yet, you can redeem the exact same code over and over again until you reach the subscription limit.  You don't need to enter in multiple codes.

I did the same thing. Haven't ever been a huge fan of racing games but all this talk has me interested enough to try it.

The my music is the songs/albums you own the digital rights to I believe. I'm sure you could create a playlist of a bands discography instead if you like. Then just search My Playlists for all your favorite bands..... or you could PAY for the songs or albums you want, so they show up in your My Music tab. Personally I'd say fuck that and be a CAG.

EDIT: If you already own the songs, just put the files in the my music folder on your device. They should then show up in My Music for said device.

Never had any interest in groove. Thought it was a MS thing only but you can also steam over IOS. And finally I'll have my own soundtrack for games. Missed that since OG XBOX (well there may have been a way to do it but I never figured it out lol)

I set up Groove Music with music on my OneDrive and it works just fine in Forza Horizon 3. No Groove subscription required. You just have to make sure to create playlists, otherwise it won't show up in Forza.

I did the Groove thing as well, but in retrospect I really can't see it ending well. Hopefully they just revoke the codes and Groove specifically if they wise up to it. It's their fault for letting them stack so it wouldn't make sense to issue bans over it.

Yeah I thought about redeeming a code or two but honestly I don't need it and not worth the potential headache. I hope it works well for everyone. I just don't care about streaming music that much in FH3. Also hopefully they patch it and allow Spotify. That would be more useful to me if I did care (work on my PS4 and elsewhere). "Tired" of everyone reinventing the wheel.

Not sure about the Music thing, but MS already said they would not ban accounts for changing regions.

All this Bayonetta talk maskes me want to play it again but I already 1k'ed it. The only problem with that game is the last playthough is the easiest -_- (constant witch mode)

TF2 Frontier Defense is amazing, you guys should play it more :p

Hopefully a descent date night, cause the weather here is atrocious

Why would we all use our primary account? I just put it on my junk e-mail, then I have music to listen to at work and on the go! I also did the same for my gf's junk email.

If Recore is a free upgrade for existing owners, it's currently on clearance at gamestop for just under $20.

Eh, this is clearly their fuckup and it already blew up on Reddit. I don't see them doing anything worse than revoking the codes. The source of these codes means they may even have been aware of the re-usability of these codes, but didn't expect someone to grab hundreds of them and post them all together. It is kind of funny that these are from an event sponsored by Microsoft for a company that was bought by Sony like 2 weeks later.

Though I did at least use all different codes myself, fells a little more explainable than "I redeemed the same code 10 times".

As for grabbing other regions Xbox One GWG, it's been a known thing for over a year now and I've still never seen anyone claim any negative repercussions. The Oman Wars were a much more clear violation of ToS, and the bans were pretty quick after the "purchases".

 
I would bet money that if they did anything it would just be revoking the codes. I don't think they want more ppl leaving the eco system. When you have no good exclusives coming this year and Sony is eating your lunch, I doubt you want the bad press of banning a bunch of accounts.
 
Thanks for the Groove music thing.  I don't listen while playing games but I do listen on long drives.  I created a new account just for it and maxed it out.  If they revoke everything, no biggie, it's not attached to any of my legit accounts.

I bet you are right, I doubt they would do much more than revoke codes too. I still wouldn't want to risk my Xbox account using codes that are known to be stolen.

The Groove thing is way different, the paper slips say it's a complimentary freebie. Obviously they weren't intending for anyone to use those codes to get ~3 years of the service for free but it's not like these were codes that were stolen and you'd typically have to pay money for. I only redeemed one of them, but they're serving their purpose - getting people to use or try the service. I certainly wouldn't have given it a second thought if it wasn't free.

There isn't really any switching of locales, it's just downloading the game from another locale's store.

EDIT - To further clarify, you aren't making changes to your account to make yourself eligible to download these free games from other regions, you are just downloading them from the other region's store.

Wow that Groove to Forza Horizon 3 connection could lead me to getting Horizon 3 sooner rather than later. Anyone know if that works for Horizon 2 as well?

I bet it's less about that and more of the fact that now they have all these free users that are playing songs that they have to pay the artist on for each play. The $330 is unrealistic because most of the ppl redeeming wouldn't have subscribed otherwise, plus this does give them more users to track and sell listening habits of, I'm not sure how much they value that at.

Anyways, only time will tell.

Destiny and Poptarts makes sense to me. Destiny is a gross game with PS4 timed DLC and Pop Tarts is a gross breakfast with timed Type 2 Diabetes. It's a good match.

I'm just assuming that MS won't ban me and in the process, forego thousands in future revenue from my purchases because I entered a few codes for free months of a music app that they are desperately trying to get people interested in. Hey, I could be wrong! But I highly doubt it.
