On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

You guys think this works with DLC as well?
looks like it does:

Cuphead is definitely worth the asking price, even more so with the Amazon credit. It just looks too good and is a blast, even if I haven't made it past the tree boss.

Finally got around to Fortnite's battle royale and I'm having a lot of fun with that too. Makes me wish I had got in on the regular mode when everyone had extra codes.

Now that I've had time to play the new Minecraft, I disagree with much of the Reddit post that somebody posted here shitting on the Xbox version. Mobs are not hard to find. There are almost too many. Plenty of Enderman. The crafting UI is also great. Takes a bit to get used to, but having access to all recipes is great. Less than a minute between songs. Cross play is also great. I can play Gear VR version while my wife plays Xbox even though Gear VR has its own problems like ghost sheep and faceless baby sheep. Realms are great for all friends to play within being on at the same time. Only issue with realms is sometimes we'll get kicked for no reason. There has also been a large variety of biomes and natural landmarks. Although we did reset our first world due to the starting point being on an island with no trees in the middle of the ocean.

My biggest complaint so far is that press LT will almost always (probably always) register as pressing LT multiple times. Press LT on a door with a crafting table on the other side? Open both door and crafting menu. Great for running from monsters and you need to get inside quickly /s This is also a problem with building when you press LT once then 2 or 3 blocks are placed.

My friend's complaint is that they made boats require shoves with no warning. My friend spent 20 minutes trying to craft a boat. Instead of taking 20 minutes, I simply used the new and improved crafting menu to find the recipe in seconds.

BTW, the Super Nintendo is the only system I ever owned on the day it was released. Really would have been cool if I was able to find the mini version today.
Man that's a crazy story and I hope you find one! I had to casual so hard towards the end of the game but I beat it. Some of the stuff was rather hard and was no fun restarting the levels but it was a joy! I have to beat Casltevania 3 someday as well. That's another tough one. I'm so use to rolling through the newer Castlevania's but those two are no joke.

Played a bit of the SNES today. As far as I can tell the emulation is spot on. I'm a bit worried about starting any of the longer games as I'm not sure I'd be able to keep my saves when it does get hacked and I can add more to it.
The saves were able to carry over on my NES classic so I don't see why not. The only thing that sounds off to me is the sound. It doesn't sound 1:1 to the SNES but it is still pretty close. The graphics and controls are spot on. Guess I'll wait for the DF retro review.

Cuphead is really, really, really good. I'm actually really burnt out on artsy and/or nostalgic sidescrollers (as much as I love Sonic I still haven't finished Sonic Mania), and the trailer looked neat but wasn't begging me to play it. Bought it on a wim after that $10 Amazon credit deal. This is a really, really neat looking game; the trailer doesn't do it justice, you have to play it for yourself. The gameplay is challenging, but not so much that I want to rage quit, it has a perfect balance.
Ugh. I really want to splurge and buy Cuphead, especially since Amazon gave me $10 for free.Hoping another $10 floats my way and I'll do it :) Glad to hear so many people are buying Cuphead. It's sounds like It's going to be a great success story after those guys went through hell to make the game. They delayed the game for years and had to re-mortgage their house and do other crazy stuff so they could keep working on the game through the delays.

By beating Castlevania 3, you mean completing all stages across multiple runs and seeing all 4 endings, correct? You have to do it right.

Yeah. Sure. That's fine because that's the closet thing to a "achievement" is doing that outside of no deaths, taking no damage etc.

I still haven't beat Ninja Gaiden 2 or NG3, or both on the NES either. Those games were brutal.

Edit: Now that Konami has graced their presence on both NES and SNES classic systems, why don't they do a Castlevania Collection? Would love to have all those games on the digital storefront.

Maybe Nintendo has an exclusivity license on the older games, because they have a number of them available digitally. Would love a Castlevania collection. Or a broader Konami collection that includes the older Contra, Metal Gear, shooters (Gradius), etc. Who has the TMNT license now? Those older console releases should get thrown in, too.

The NES Ninja Gaiden games could potentially come to XB1 if the OG XB reboot version goes BC. I never did finish that game, or unlock the NES games. I did beat all 3 back on the NES. I thought 3 was the easiest of the bunch, thanks to the oversized sword.

Holy crap! I just won an Xbox One X from that free code link from Taco Bell. I should do these more often. Won the Rock Band 2 set back in the day from Pepsi.

I don't know, Konami has never really expressed much interest in re-releasing their oldest games outside of a direct transfer with minimum work like the Virtual Console. The only things I can think of are SOTN on XBLA, and the Metal Gear games included with Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence/HD. At best, I could maybe see them take a cue from Capcom and do a Castlevania 1-3 or 4 legacy collection.

Okay, Cuphead is awesome. It's been a long time since there's been a game where you legitimately have to play it to appreciate it. It was true for a lot of Wii games where the interactivity of the controls impacted the experience, stuff like that, but Cuphead's visuals and art style are incredibly unique in a time where that is increasingly rare. Screenshots and trailers didn't tell me much about how the game plays because the animation is so fluid, but seeing it in motion in front of you makes a huge difference.

I was surprised when I saw the developer say Contra and Street Fighter III were big influences, but it's immediately evident and it's cool as hell. It's not for the impatient, but it's greater than the sum of its parts and IMHO is a must play.

You see some of the great 2D (game) animators talk about Street Fighter III in high regard often. I wish Capcom would come back and do something with 2D sprites as beautiful as SFIII again, but who knows if those animators are even with the company anymore.

Mariel Cartwright here keeps coming back to it in her GDC talk. She was lead on Skullgirls and the upcoming Indivisible at LabZero Games, and worked on the Scott Pilgrim game as well as a couple Shantae games with WayForward.

I had to casual so hard towards the end of the game but I beat it. Some of the stuff was rather hard and was no fun restarting the levels but it was a joy!
Did you play the second quest? That's right, there's more if you count the same game but more difficult. By beating that, you truly beat Super Castlevania IV.

Shadow Clones on the NES Ninja Gaiden 2 made the game a lot easier. Part 3, on the other hand ...

I could have beaten 3 if it wasn't for the limited continues. Who at Tecmo thought that was a good idea? Imagine how many people would throw their controllers if you have 5 tries to play 6-1 in the original game. I prefer the shadow clones over the super sword though.

Put those games on BC and I'll buy an Xbox One.

Along with the animation fluidity, I think the SFIII influence is in the parry system. There's a lot going on control-wise that you can't know or appreciate watching a video, because of how quickly things move. It reminds me of Rayman Origins (and maybe Okami) in the sense that the hand-drawn HD artwork looks nice in screenshots or on Youtube, but making it move and interacting with it via a controller is a whole new level of appreciation for the art. Also a nod to Rayman, the controls are simple but end up making you do complex things due to obstacles and timing, and you learn by doing without the game holding your hand the whole time. You're going to die A LOT but it doesn't punish you for it, because it's part of learning each boss pattern.

Watching videos, it was hard for me to appreciate what's background detail and what's the level or enemies you an interact with, but playing it, it's very clear and well-done. I haven't gotten very far but I'm going to be singing this game's praises for awhile.

Man some dude on TA already 100%'d Cuphead. Insane. Must've been playing non-stop from the moment it launched. Shocked at how quickly he did it too, just 15 hours for the full 1000g.

Yeahhhh I mean when they list Contra, Contra III, and Gunstar Heroes as influences, make sure you know what you're getting yourself into. It has modern conveniences but it's ass-kickingly-old-school.

I was 15 years old when the SNES came out. I remember my mom trusting me with $200 to go shopping for clothes before the school year started. Needless to say she was super pissed when I came home with a Super Nintendo and nothing else. She told me it was going to be returned the next day. In the end she let me keep it and I wore old clothes for the year but couldn't be happier.

Forzathon-September-29-October-4.jpg

Grabbed all the Forzathon challenges in FH3 last night. I already had the Porsche but I figured I'd do them anyways lol. It was funny to do a championship in the Outback with a 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster, drifting around corners on dirt in a souped up vintage racing vehicle lol. Doing the Danger Sign at the Airport with the X Class Ultimo, I got a new personal best by flying over everything and landing right in front of a parked plane lol. Phew (you hit something you loose your score) that was close. The other two challenges are fairly easy to get.

I'm actually quite surprised at the trouble people are having with Cuphead. I've always sucked at sidescrollers, from the NES days all the way till now, and it hasn't been too bad. Been stuck for 15 minutes or so on a few bosses but nothing drastic. I managed to get A-rank on all the bosses up to this point, but I'm just now entering the second isle, so maybe that's where it gets impossible.

The bane of my existence thus far is trying to get A-rank on Treetop Trouble. I finished the level in 1:50 with all health, parries, and coins but can only get B-rank. I'm thinking I'm still not fast enough.

I Mean, you could've worn the box.

Your mom is AWESOME.

Any one here play trove and need a code for a Trance Sphere Mount ? I have one that expires tomorrow and I won't use it. Omw to work now but I'll send it to the first quoter when I get home.

....Patiently waiting for the October 1st GWG games to go live and for the new Missions to go live on Xbox Rewards.

So far, college football isn't helping pass the time; blowout games everywhere.

fuck I'm way behind on this thread. Anyone go check out the X this weekend or last? I just got back from seeing it a little bit ago. Kicking myself for not asking them if it was actually running on a PC or non-final hardware since they had whatever was running it hidden (they had a mock-up console on the table so you could see how big it was). At least I got a shirt and some other stuff out of it.

Forza did look pretty insane though, and they were even running it on a 2016 model tv so assuming it'll be even nicer on a new set if you pony up for something high-end.

Pinball FX 3 is a nice way to remind me "oh yeah, I own that table" with that being said I fucking hate the Deadpool table so damn much

Argh, it's still glitched for me. I'm awaiting the update to fix it so I can level up all my tables and throw down good leaderboard results. Also been watching some college football and agree on the bottom sentiment. Also went back to Halo Wars DE instead as HW2 is still unaccessible for me - my update is at 8% wooo.

And yeah if you're asking about the FM6 VIP now, I'm guessing you can deal without it.

It's not so bad when you learn it. The one I hate is X-Men. I can't do anything on that table.

My pinball fx3 Is jacked up still. Least I've got some achievements. Sucks my scores keep getting erased.

You pinball junkies add me. Mr hockey66

Got past the first “Run and Gun” level, the garden boss and a mausoleum and am now stuck. The boat boss battle and second Run and Gun level are harder than shit man.

Awesome game though.

Was it glitched for you because you bought a table after importing your old ones over? So far I've had no problems and my player level is still the same along with my progress, but I only buy tables when there's a sale.

Deadpool I just hate because the event wheel or whatever in the middle always messes me up and God I don't need Deadpool's constant banter and teleporting in it. It's one of those I have 50 or so other tables, why should I even care or bother with this one is the other problem I have in wanting to commit to it.

Also oddly enough the table I do best at is Rogue One. It's a pain in the ass getting a combo going in that table, but so far it's my highest scoring one.
