Does anyone know what happened to Spylon and XBLDB? I haven't seen him post here in years, and his site languishes in 2013 date nights.....

I was confused about the save state thing so I looked up some reviews. They did remove the ability to save anywhere at any time, but each game has save points checkpoints which are permanent saves that you can load later. these were not present in the original games and occur a mid-level apparently, which doesn't sound terrible to me considering I've beaten all these games without save states once upon a time.

I don't know if it's been posted but AC: Origins also has loot boxes. So far, they can only be bought with in-game currency (from hoarding stuff/selling/saving money). 

It sounds promising but I wonder how long it will last be Ubisoft introduces a way to purchase with real money.

I sure am. Also I've given up trailers for films I really want to see. It requires a lot of self control with trailers being everywhere, but helps temper expectations and makes for a nice 'fresh' viewing when you see it.

Hate to be that guy but I probably won't end up seeing it. Haven't seen TFA either despite the DVD being in my house for over a year now. Just idk man, ties into the "all movies being down" discussion from a few days ago but modern Hollywood movies just bore me so much. Everything feels so predictable and made by committee. Obviously some good stuff still gets through but the last 4 or 5 times I went out to the movies I really regretted it to the point where I've just kinda stopped going (last movie I saw in theaters was Fantastic Beasts to give an idea on how long it's been.)

Only movies I've actually watched this year are It Follows and Shin Godzilla lol but those are old now I guess. Only movie so far this year that seemed interesting was Bladerunner but ehhh I will just wait to rent it.

To each his own, but I enjoyed the trailer and I want to see this movie.

Trailer accomplished its aim; I will buy a ticket.

The movie is not promising to cure cancer or make my life more meaningful...but to provide me with 2.5 hours of enjoyment...no more, no less - and I'm fine with that.

Now video games, on the other hand... Halo 6 better get a 12 out of 10 from GameInformer, or 343 Industries can GTFO.

Doesn't seem like anybody answered this, but I was curious too, so I looked into it a bit. Based on the reviews on MS's listing for the game, it appears that a patch was released in November that fixed a lot of the issues. Here's one of the reviews from after the patch.

My first review of Uno was 1 star and pretty harsh. Ubisoft stripped Uno to the barebones, it was damn near unplayable, the voice/video chat was for people on your friends list only. It was really boring, the 360 version blew this version out of the water. I said in my previous review that if they added voice chat for everyone and made the games smoother, I would change my 1 star rating to 5 stars. Well, in the new update, they added voice chat for everyone. Im not sure how smooth the servers are yet but i stick to my word. I gave it 1 star previously but i change my rating to 5 stars. So, it appears that playing with randoms is easier now and chatting with them is possible. I guess still no cameras with randoms...but unless you just like seeing dicks, that's probably a good thing. Seems like it might be worth $5 now. Definitely considering picking it up, myself.

 
Ugh the deals this week are horrible. All I want is Middle Earth : Shadow of War anyways.
Too bad I had to go and get spinal surgery a few weeks ago to get the SCS system put in. Cant afford it after my outrageous copays....

I try to resist watching anything but the first trailer for a movie. What little enjoyment I would have gotten out of Wrath of the Titans way back when was stifled when I realized that pretty much every important scene in the movie was in the various trailers I watched for the movie.

 
In brazil we have Prey, Dishonored and The Elder scrolls V: Skyrim special edition for about  Us$15,00 each this week.

Played Shadow of War for about an hour. Played a ton of Shadow of Mordor a few weeks ago to prepare. Combat feels smoother and you don't need to press RB to pick up arrows. Overall the game feels and looks very much like Shadow of Mordor with more content. Too soon to recommend, but beginning is off to a good start.

I'm honestly happy for @majornelson & @thehappygirl ... I can't imagine the horrible loss of @HG's layoff from Xbox on Cinco de Mayo 2011, and then losing their pregnancy later that day (likely due to said layoff). I've had a theory that Xbox would've laid off MN in summer 2013 (just like most of the other Xbox social media notables), and it's their 2011 loss that compelled upper management to keep him around until now. Now that @MN's a confirmed dad, however, I wonder if he'll survive subsequent big layoffs that happen each January.

Tell me more please. I bought a scratchless disc yesterday from redbox and it wouldn't install. Had to download from XBL then use the disc to start the game trick. Has something been messed up and now fixed? Kinda had me worried since this is the first physical game I've tried since upgrading to the S.

Are you in the preview program? There was a bug some people got that games wouldn't play if you are in the alpha ring that got patched ans is fixed now. If you aren't in the program I'm not sure what to say unless it is the disc :/

 
^ I've read it gives the game but not the season pass. Which is the opposite of a good thing for those that paid $100 expecting both. I cannot confirm this myself.

I normally avoid trailers at all costs but knowing my lifestyle this one will be shoved in my face eventually so I just checked it out. I don't think it really spoils anything badly, these Star Wars trailers have been pretty decent about that. Usually that have just enough to cause wild speculation unless you dig around for the really hardcore fans that try to do speculation based on all release media and EU stuff. The only thing in this trailer is the implied

stuff that I think we all knew was going to be forced in. And while the annoying little things are clearly inspired by Ewoks and intended to sell toys, I think they're aware of how annoying shit like that can be and will have restraint in the actual movie.

The spoiler trailers in the past that caused me to stop seeing them were usually the ones that come out closer to launch, not the early ones like this. Can't really say if the episode movies will have the same deal, but Rouge One actually had stuff in the trailers that was changed for the movie, but they had reshoots to supposedly darken up the ending too.

I loved both of the Portal games. Really wished they'd have made another one. For $2.50, I might give Q.U.B.E. a shot.

I thought they were going to make a Portal movie, but I don't know the status on that.

 
It will be another 8 hours or so before I can get my hands on ME:SoW. We'll see what the offer to fix the gold edition snafu. It might mean we get a free digital copy. It might mean I'm asking Best Buy for a refund.
