Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
[*]Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!

Nice but I’m not sure I can go that high. I know it’s an 8 TB though. Starting to think I may wait a bit with as much as I’ve spent lately.

Thanks for the heads up though (here and on XBL)!

Edit: there’s also a 4 TB on sale for $79.99.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/wd-easystore-4tb-external-usb-3-0-portable-hard-drive-black/5792405.p?skuId=5792405

Think I might bite on that one.
The 4TB one is the model I bought 6 months ago and I'm very happy with it. $80 is a great price.

Remove Skyrim, and same

It's seriously pretty fun. A One X enhancement was sorely needed not for resolution or anything, but the framerate. If your ranch is full up with slimes, it can absolutely crawl. I'm trying it out tonight.
To follow up on this, the enhancement appears to be mostly resolution, though the framerate may have also increased too. It's still a slideshow at times, but maybe it's a little better.

Talking Slime Rancher, since that's not exactly obvious from the quote.

That X setup patch took over an hour for me to download las night. When all is said and done, X is a must if you can afford it.

I still haven't gotten shipping confirmation from Microsoft Store for my Project Scorpio X yet, super pissed. Chat help keeps passing me around and a phone call didn't do crap for me.

Anybody else have any advice?

Cancel it and buy it from Best Buy.

Think I might bite on that one.
I got this a few months back has worked out well so far. It was smaller than expected and it's powered via USB so there was less cable clutter.

Not an option I'm afraid because I loaded up on Xbox currency from the 20% off Rakuten sale about a month ago. I actually had other pre-orders that I cancelled because of that deal and I'm regretting it now.
It's annoying, but remember that a few days is probably worth the amount you ended up saving.

Not nearly as exciting as all the XBox One X discussions.

In August I bought a 1 month and 3 month code for Groove via the Live store.  It was on sale and a decent deal (nevermind I could have a started a 3 month free trial).  It would run out mid December a couple weeks before the service is shutdown.

Anyway today I get an email from Microsoft saying they refunded me the points for 1 more Groove codes I bought after July 1st and give me an additional 100 points.

Pretty nice of them as I really wasn't out anything.  My subscription will work till the end of what I paid for.

Takes away the sting of wasting points on something I could have gotten for free but forgot.

Star Wars Battlefront II has an EA Access trial available. I've only played one solo match on my X so far and it looks way better than the beta.

For those that got an Xbox One X and maybe even watch 4k blu-ray movies, what TVs do you guys got?  Feel free to message me what you have to not clutter up the thread  ;)  Just wanted some ideas and options.  I have a  Samsung 1080p for many years now and it's still rocking but I think it's time to get a new set.  I could see myself already getting one for Thanksgiving guests to watch on, if not, I could wait until January the latest, we'll see.

Not as big on the regular Forza series over Horizon (not a sim fan). But redownloaded the Forza 7 demo hearing how incredible it looks on the X and I’m sold. It is stunning. Definitely going to try to grab it on BF.

Also tried Skate 3 and am blown away by how good it looks on the X. So amazing to see 360 games getting this treatment.

I was originally on the fence with the X but damn am I happy I dove in. Loving every second of it.

Also, redonkalous, I love my Samsung KU6300, which is now the MU6300. But it’s a lower end 4K, so if you have more disposable cash probably want to look at better ones (an OLED if you can afford it). Still think my picture looks fantastic though.

Not an option I'm afraid because I loaded up on Xbox currency from the 20% off Rakuten sale about a month ago. I actually had other pre-orders that I cancelled because of that deal and I'm regretting it now.
I also took advantage of the 20% off was harder to resist a Scorpio for $400+ tax when all said and done. I got mine at launch day surprised they never shipped yours :(

FYI new contest up. You can win a lot of Starswars stuff here inducing a full digital copy of Battlefront 2.

https://www.xboxintergalacticsweepstakes.com/

I read more into the X issues seems like a power trip and some people fixed their problem by using their old AC cord. It's a generic cord so you can buy one for $8 (or less) but it seems to be doing the trick.

If you’re talking NBA Jam On Fire Edition, that’s still the best basketball game playable on the One
One of my best friends visits me for a weekend every year. We spend at least 5 hours each time dunking on LeBron and Wade. He's not heavily into gaming these days, so 2K is too much to pick up.

I cannot get into NBA playgrounds--random player cards?? extra points for perfect shots??

360 BC definitely gave xbox a lot more value

Not sure if this was posted before but I noticed this on my diet Dew yesterday. Dew & Duritos are running auctions for Xbox One X. Can be found at:

https://www.every60seconds.com/

In short, you buy products that have codes. Those codes are worth points. You use the points to bid on auctions for an X or related merchandise (games, GWG subscriptions, etc.). A auction for an X closes every 60 seconds. It runs through some time in January.

Really enjoyed playing four hours of Elder Scrolls Online last night with my Xbox One X.

Between the game's brand new content update, its stated 15% improvement to performance across all platforms, and the Xbox One X Enhancements....it really does feel next-gen.  Native 4K, HDR, "near Ulta PC settings" such as improved water, spacial effects, farther draw distances, noticeably reduced load times...

Can't wait to try Assassin's Creed: Origins, Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Final Fantasy XV, Fallout 4....etc, etc, etc

Remember late 2013 and on into 2014 when we had so many cross-gen titles between Xbox 360 and Xbox One - and it was so readily apparent that the XB1 version looked and played better?  Watch Dogs, Dragon Age: Inquisition, etc.  How is this different?  XB1X will be as "next-gen" in 2017 and 2018 as XB1 was in 2013 and 2014.  ...I'm a happy camper.  :)

Need to try ESO tonight.

Funny thing is I’ve been spending more time trying different games than actually making much progress in said games. It’s just awesome to see the differences.

But I gotta settle down and start actually playing games for a significant amount of time.

One other thing I just found out about is that there is a separate 4K download for cinematics for Shadow of War. It doesn't download automatically with the title update for X. Here it is for your eye candy pleasure:

Man I really hope you're right. I love the game but it looked really shitty.

Problem with this and a lot of games is character models IMO. And unfortunately doesn’t seem like most of the Enhanced games are doing much in the way of that. Sometimes takes you out of the immersion when you’ve got a shitty character model. And ESO is a prime example of that.

I did notice that ESO had around a 35 GB update for the S so I guess another case where it could be assets for the X but also maybe help the normal version run better.

Played a bit of Super Lucky’s Tale. It’s really not as bad as some reviews make it out to be. I’d say it’s actually pretty good. Certainly better than Yooka Laylee.
It's just going to get buried by Odyssey as far as general discussion goes, and being compared critically to a game that released in the same genre less than two weeks ago didn't do it any favors.

While I'm still downloading some stuff to my Xbox One X and have to do some other tests, what I've used of it so far has been okay. The OS still needs a lot of work and the X's power doesn't affect anything as far as I can see, but I'm hoping just starting over with a new device gets me away with the annoying issues my launch era Xbox One had. I did earn over 200 points while looking at Gears of War 4's Game Hub, so that was nice.

It would be nice to have a way to see exactly what was improved in the few enhanced games I have for 1080p, whether via patch notes or something in-game since I'm not really noticing anything or any options or whatever that would even tell me that I got an X update. I did launch a few of the worst loading games on the Xbox One to see how loading times improve with the X, so I'm hoping there is a big improvement for non-X enhanced games.

I’d be curious to know how much improvement people with 1080p TVs see. Honestly know I wouldn’t have upgraded to an X if I didn’t have a 4K TV. And, of course, on that the difference in enhanced games is astounding. Well worth the price of admission for me.

Still it’d be interesting to know if people think it is worth it for non-4K TV owners.

Let me be clear: the enhancements to Elder Scrolls Online aren't like turning Elder Scrolls 3 into Elder Scrolls 5. But the 4K is noticeable. And if you had an original Xbox One - and therefore did not have HDR - the difference with HDR is noticeable. The water is certainly different. I can't believe how much better the ambient occlusion makes everything look....Its all subtle, but the combined effect is important.

But the biggest difference is the draw distance; it genuinely changes how I approach the game. Suddenly I'm playing an Elder Scrolls game again. ESO on console always felt like the player could only see about thirty feet in front of them; it was unnerving. Sure, technically you could see something in the distance, but there was no detail, just a sense that there was a mountain...in that general direction...over there. But last night, on the Xbox One X, I went skyshard hunting. I was seeing objects from across enormous cliffs and bridges. I saw players battling it out in a valley below me; the game felt more alive as a result - like an actual MMO.

And Shadow Cleft in the new Clockwork City DLC is the most beautiful area of the game I can remember seeing. Creepy, atmospheric...I didn't even quest while I was in there; just ran around taking in the darkly-colored graveyard-garden-like sights.

This is still an MMO made for a wide variety of computers of 2014; it will never be stunningly beautiful. But it is appreciably improved, in my opinion. And, hopefully, a good indication of what enhancements Xbox One X is capable of delivering for Xbox gaming.

So the X is my first Xbox One, and as such I had stuff to download when I set it up. I checked the bandwidth used on the Xbox yesterday, and in less than twelve hours I'd blasted through 565gb of my 1tb bandwidth cap. Yikes.

I've also found out my 4K receiver does not support HDR so now I'm in the market for a new 5.1 receiver with at least 6 HDMI ports that supports HDR and HDCP 2.2. Ugh. May as well look into finding one with an option I wished my current one had, fully programmable LCD. I never know what input it is on based on what the LCD says, because only one of the dozen or so options is actually accurate.

Oh, I blocked from my mind the three plus hours I spent yesterday trying to get it working with ARC. If the X is plugged into the TV, it only would output through the receiver in 2.0. In the end, I ended up with no audio whatsoever and had to revert to plugging it back into the receiver, losing HDR. I also lost the On Screen Display for the receiver in the process, so I still have to fix that. Blarg.

These are the games I tried on the X so far that are X enhanced:

Dead Rising 4: Didn't notice much of a improvement. It has HDR. I think It's more of the engine itself and what's provided. Or maybe I'm blind. Waiting on digital foundry for this one.

Diablo 3: See DF's video. Looks great.

Fallout 3: Night and day. The stuttering seemed gone for the most part (I only played the early areas) and the graphics are greatly improved. Textures look stunning all things considered. It's almost like a remaster.

Gears 3: Amazing. Not night and day like Fallout 3 but It's a huge improvement.

Gears 4: Jaw dropping. Probably my #2 title so far for the XBox One in terms of performance increase.

Halo 3: Wow. How does MS do this? I am still trying to avoid playing much of it because I'm waiting for the MCC patch. Hard to go back to 30fp.

Halo 5: Hands down the best improvement i've seen so far. It's like a next gen launch in terms of graphics.

Killer Instinct: Looks very sexy. Not a big jump as Gears 4/Halo 5 but looks great.

Madden 18: Surprisingly the HDR fits in pretty well. The character models took a huge jump for Madden levels and everything is 60fps now.

Paladins: Looks better but probably the second least impressive improvement for me behind DR4.

Path of Exile: Pretty darn good.

I still have a ton of X enhanced titles left to play. I don't own Ark, Dishonored 2 or the expansion, a bunch of titles or the newer ones like AC Origins. I'm hearing Origins is the best looking title on the X but I don't own it. I would say Halo 5 and Gears 4 are the show stoppers for the X from what I own so far.. I know Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy XV use high end PC textures so I still have to try those. I still have to try QB as well. Fallout 3 is massively improved on the X as well. I'm hearing reports that the original Mirror's Edge also looks insanely good for a 360 title.

Gonna try out Starwars in a bit since it just launched on EA access.

Are you sure the receiver doesn’t support HDR? I’ve never heard of that happening. I had to upgrade to a reciever that supported 4K but didn’t think HDR would be something that wouldn’t pass through.

I know I did have to do a lot of research to get my TV and reciever to work properly (all the green checks on my X1). Sometimes it can even be a bad HDMI cable that can cause weird things.

Thank you for the thoughtful response I'll try it out tonight. At the in-laws and their internet is slow so downloading games is taking longer than normal.

Can you do optical audio to the receiver and video via HDMI to the TV?

Pretty sure. The X said as much during setup, so I started reading the specs on it. It doesn't list HDR at all, nor does it specify the HDCP version on any product page including Onkyo's website. I just got a Home THeater In A Box, it's an Onkyo HT-3700, and the receiver model is HT-R393.

Can you do optical audio to the receiver and video via HDMI to the TV?
I never thought about that, since I've never in my life used optical for anything. It looks like both the TV and receiver have optical ports. So I guess the answer is yes. Of course, I don't have one on hand to test.

Just looked and you may be right because my Yamaha does have “HDR Compatible” listed in the specs. Didn’t realize that was something that needed to be a spec.

Plug you X into the tv through HDMI, get an optical audio cable and plug that into your receiver. Now, you should get your picture on the TV and audio through your speakers without giving up HDR or having to spend more money.

EDIT: I just noticed I quoted the wrong person.

I will be testing it out tomorrow on a meh 1080P TV. I also would not have gotten it had I not been planning on a 4K TV....just needed a device to warrant a purchase of one. No use in buying a 4K if I just have regular programming.

I have optical from the Xbox One going to a headset, so a receiver would be just the same.

Right. So if he uses the hdmi xbox ->tv he won't loose hdr. The optical goes tv -> receiver. Then all tv audio comes from home theater receiver / speakers. Low cost solution that preserves hdr for video and sound from home theater.

The one thing I'm not sure about is whether or not the tv -> receiver connection will preserve hi end audio such as dolby surround surround or will it only transmit 2.0 stereo audio. If so I might try setting the optical cable to go xbox -> receiver and see if any advanced audio features return.

Just to clarify, you'll want to connect the xbox via optical to the reciever and via hdmi to the tv. I guess you could connect the tv to the receiver if you have limited reciever ports, or if you weren't already using hdmi for the audio.

Make sure if you run the optical out of the xbox, you change it in the settings so it doesn't just send audio via hdmi to the tv (which would be fine if you then run the tv out to the receiver).

My old receiver doesn't have hdmi, so I run optical audio from the xbox to it. I don't have cable, so I didn't have any use for running audio out from the tv.

Canceled my NFS Payback preorder. After about 2.5 hours, 'm starting to see some of the criticisms of the game.

Once you get to that point in the game, the balance is ridiculously off unless you want to pay real money or grind constantly.

I’ve never played a NFS game that required much (if any) grinding. But the levels your car is at and what is required for races isn’t even close without grinding. In-game currency isn’t enough to make a difference because even if you have much to spend, it’s a total crap shoot of what you can get (the speed cards change at each tune-up shop and many are not any better than what you currently have).

I don’t mind challenging races. But when you don’t have the parts or speed cards to be on even a small deficit to the other racers, it gets impossible. I don’t buy racing games to grind like an RPG.

The speed card system is infuriating as designed and seems a total cash grab since you can buy packs of them with real money. Hope they improve it or rebalance it because there’s a great game underneath. I was having a blast until I hit a wall.

Supposedly they were fixing similar issues in Battlefront 2, but this is even for the single player portion.

EA Access saved me on NFS.

Don’t have a 4k tv yet, but I did notice when I bring up my games the icon list for 470 or so games I have installed loads way faster on the X than my old slim.

For me, I lose something in the audio. I have all my HDMI devices going into my TV, and then my optical audio out of the TV into the HTIB receiver (which is old enough to not have HDMI), and it says it's receiving 2.0 sound. If I ran the optical straight from the Xbox to the HTIB, it would display something else (I forget exactly what it said, it's been a while since I configured everything, and I haven't touched the setup much in the past few years.

So for me, even though I know I'd be getting better audio quality if I went straight from the console to the receiver, I stick with using the TV as a switchboard/passthrough, because I want all 3 devices I have hooked up to play from the receiver.
