The Car Pass gets you the first 6 (7?) car packs, while the VIP just gives you a couple cars and a credit bonus while you play.

Notably absent from the Car Pass is the Porsche Car pack.
 
Fired up Forza 7 for the first time today. With the ultimate edition stuff and vip cars my collection went up to level 3 without actually doing anything but the intro races. Even without and 4K tv it looks absolutely amazing. Can’t wait to see it with a new TV
 
Picked up what will probably be my only new holiday releases - Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon.  Unless I decide to throw down for, and am able to find, a Switch for Mario Odyssey.

Someone expresses a disparaging opinion about a game which is currently being discussed. Someone snaps back "don't tell people how to spend their money!" The two are not the same thing. BDK never said don't buy it, he said it was mediocre.

Come off it. Someone else mentioned that they enjoyed the game and that they thought it was worth $2, then there was an immediate response explaining why the game was mediocre and there were better choices... In the context of that conversation, the purpose of that response was pretty clear.
 
I don't know if I was just lucky, but I just got 36 xbucks from chat support over a 3 month Groove pass that I got for free with that 1 month trial promotion they ran a coupe of months ago.

90% of this thread is discussion as to whether not X game is worth X dollars. Obviously people can spend whatever they want on anything, no matter how good or bad it is.

Come off it. Someone else mentioned that they enjoyed the game and that they thought it was worth $2, then there was an immediate response explaining why the game was mediocre and there were better choices... In the context of that conversation, the purpose of that response was pretty clear.

What was the purpose of your response? This thread exists for sales notices and impromptu reviews of the games on sale, new releases, xbox news, etc. Opinions going one way and the other are encouraged. We all have differing tastes, so knowing what issues were deal breakers along with elements that were so positive they overrode those criticisms to others helps outsiders inform their purchasing decisions. Your earlier post GGP referenced was just you snapping at BDK for having a discenting opinion and added nothing to discussions about the game in question's merits or lack thereof.

I'm loving South Park. It'll probably go down to $30/35 for xmas sales, so if you have other games you want to play I can see waiting. The season pass will go cheaper, or the enviable Target merger of Gold sku, so I held off.

Have you played Minecraft season 1? How does it perform on the 360 compared to the other TT games? It seems like buying the season pass + adventure pass will be cheaper than buying the complete pass

When I first loaded Netflix up it asked me if I wanted to upgrade my subscription to 4k. Do you know if that has any impact?

Most definitely does. But still doesn’t make the app any better (I have the 4K subscription). The app directly on my Samsung still kills it beyond measure. Really disappointing because I only get stereo out of my TV and not the full effects of Dolby Digital or whatever.

I'm the same way with those games but every few sales they seem to get me with a "I really want this to go BC, might as well get it just in case." This sale was spec ops and last sale was vanquish. I still have a 360, so it's not like I'm buying games I can't access.

I have a similar setup so I'll have to try my Samsung TV app, my OG Xbox app, and my Xbox One X app.

I’d be curious what you find out. On my X1X, despite it forcing HDR on everything (which is wrong), the stuff with HDR is too dark and the regular stuff just looks way off. It really is night and day using the Samsung app vs the X. Hope they fix it. Know that Forbes guy was bitching about it.

Apparently the most recent update made it read as HDR for everything even when it shouldn’t on not just the X but also all other Xbox Ones and the PS4. Netflix responded to him that it was intentional but it most certainly is not the way it should be.

It was more a matter of level the playing field and expressing better detail why I said no. Plus it doesn't matter because he'll make up his own mind in the end.

Yep. For $5 or less, I'll either play it eventually on 360 and if it never goes BC, it was very cheap. $3 and some change? Sure, gimme.

Glad this is being discussed. I had streamed 4 seasons using the XB1 app when I then tried my Samsung tv app. The difference was quite noticeable and improved.

Yes. I'm not even a Minecraft fan and I liked this game. I seem to recall more free roaming environment gameplay compared to all of the QTE's I experienced in Wolf Among Us and Walking Dead.

All remain in my backlog until further notice.

  • If you are considering buying Destiny 2 at this price, just know that on Dec. 5 the next expansion will release.  This will raise the level cap from 20 to 25 and the power cap from 300/305 to 330/335 and release a whole bunch of content and gear that probably isn't compatible with or available in the base game.  I'm not trying to scare anyone away from the purchase (the more the merrier!) but I just don't want anyone to play for a few weeks only the be made obselete shortlly after purchase.
  • As I mentioned before, the email address that received the $10 Xbox code was an email address that Xbox doesn't know about.  However, the Microsoft Store DOES know about it so maybe that is the missing link as to why some are getting it and some aren't.
  • Dammit gimme your Shadow of War Gold code for a reasonable price bitches!

Don’t think Destiny 2 will be “obsolete”, especially if you’re mainly playing it for single player like I am. Probably be quite a while at my rate to even finish the content that’s there.

Strangely buying the base game is still cheaper than buying the deluxe edition. ($38.99 + 34.99 = $73.98 vs $74.99). So you can still buy the Expansion Pass and not lose out except for whatever bonus items you get in the deluxe.

Perhaps obsolete was too strong a word, but at the very least you won't be experiencing the best the game has to offer. There will be new gear, new story content, new post-story content, new wisecracks by Cayde-6, new salt from Asher Mir, new dichotomy from Failsafe, etc.

The man child in me had more fun watching the large amount of pricey damage than I should've.

And Destiny 2 sounds more and more like a game that pulled an Assassin's Creed II and made a largely boring game I didn't care for into something I'll want to pick up for cheap down the line or when it's all collected into one cheap package.

I know he responded again but I don't think CB was super clear, but he is right to warn people. If you never played the first Destiny you may not be familiar. They integrate new weapons and stuff in to general game play, so I was having weapons drop that had a "you can't use this item since you don't own the dlc" icon. Basically I was picking up items that just wasted space in my inventory. It can just get frustrating when you get a gun that looks cool and has nice stats that you either have to pay to use or scrap.

But yeah, any game that becomes BC also brings the DLC to BC. You should be able to still buy off the website, or sometimes through the game itself if it had a menu for it. I think you can even search for it on your Xbone itself either in the store or through the browser and should be able to buy it there too.

If you're totally new to Xbox, I'd look at getting this Trilogy version. It gives you all three games for just $5 more than Anniversary alone, and they're all BC. If you already played them before then feel free to skip, as this doesn't include any bonuses.

I know what you’re talking about as I did buy Destiny 1 base and later the Taken King edition.

For this, I still picked up the standard edition since, as I mentioned, it’s just as cheap to buy the expansion pass separately vs the deluxe edition.

Figure if I cross that road and feel like I want it, I can buy it then and not really have lost anything. That was my point.

Buying the base game itself doesn’t make it obsolete if you can still buy the expansions and pay the same (or in this case save $1).

I booted up my 360 to buy a few things and noticed they had castlevania los 2 in the Xbox one bc section of games to buy. But it didn't have the "Xbox one" title on the bottom. Either a mistake or perhaps we are getting it this next week.

True, not obsolete, just a bit frustrating. I was thinking about upgrading to digital but after buying the expansion pass and taken king individually for D1 I think I may way until an ultimate edition. After spending like $140 on the first game and barely touching the dlc I think I can get my money's worth from the base game for a while.
 
I’m a fucking idiot. Was searching for Forza 7 digital on eBay and found someone selling their code from Taco Bell.

There were two listings. Well it turns out it the one I bid on was just for the exclusive TB driver suit. So I could be paying $30 for a cosmetic item I definitely do not want for that price. 🤦‍♂️

Edit: messaged the dude selling it and he canceled the item for me. Whoosh....

Bought Battlefront 2.

Game is pretty decent. Multiplayer is fun, and I think skill can defeat star cards in a lot of cases.

Singleplayer on the other hand is kinda meh. I mean it's there and the story is ok, but this is really just a shoot everything that moves for 4-5 hours. If your into that, then you will have fun. I am having fun because it's mindless killing which is a great thing when you want to destress. Defiantly don't buy this game if just for singleplayer though.
