it's certainly worth getting because far cry is awesome but it's not the same as I'm sure you already know but still far cry in feeling

All this Far Cry talk made me realize I don’t have 3 anymore for some reason. Never got as far as I should have in it either. Picked it up since it’s part of the sale.
 
Any thoughts on Dead Island vs Dead Island Riptide?  I figure $5 for some zombie action isn't bad.  Would I need to play the first to enjoy Riptide more?

 
In FM7, a couple current Rivals events have unlockables.  Under Featured Events, the first one has you challenging Phil Specner's time.  All participants get a Porsche as well as Master Chief and Olympia Vale suits.  Beating Phil's time to unlock a 2010 Ferrari 599 GTO, which can't be purchased except through the specialty dealer (Tier 4, 2nd row, 2nd car).  Event ends Jan 2.

Phil's currently at 1:35.923, hope my 1:35.100 holds up.

The 2nd Rivals event in the featured list also has a couple driver suits (Master Chief again and Halo Spartan) for everyone that registers a time before it ends on Jan 3.

 
Hadn't been on Gears 4 in a few days, looks like they gave out the Flaming skins for Gnasher, Hammerburst, Retro and Torque from recent events.  With the Flaming Lancer that was given out previously, that would pop the I Like Em Crispy achievement in the latest title update for having 5 weapon skins.  The achievement currently has a ratio of 22.83 on TrueAchievements, so if you're doing the 12 days challenge, that could be an easy capper for your day 12.  (I'm still back on day 10.)

Also, someone whipped up a page that checks the progress on the Master at Arms achievement in the latest update that requires getting 50 kills with all weapons in Vs.  There is no in-game tracker, and the achievement progress percentage is based on the 900 overall kills that are needed.

I've completed 8, another 4 are over half way.  None with the Mulcher, the rest are at least double digits.

 
Was reading over at the Best Buy thread that people have been returning / rebuying their Xbox One Xs to get this week’s bonuses. I didn’t realize that it wasn’t just PUBG but also a $50 gift card.

Going to try to get it through chat first and if that doesn’t work, I’ll go in-store to do a return/rebuy. Just PUBG (which I already bought) wouldn’t be worth the hassle, but $50 ecard? Hell yes...

You shouldn’t need to return rebuy. Called customer service last night, just verified my info and asked for the order number. Already received the PUBG (Enjoying it immensely) and waiting for the $50.

3) XBL Gold. Trade thread regularly has it for ~$40. There may be a holiday deal for a month for a buck, if you're still silver. Nokeys.com has it for $44, but mine was a Brazilian code that I needed to use VPN for. On the plus side, they gave me an extra month for enabling and immediately cancelling auto renew. :)

4) Look into Plex if you want DLNA (local networked media sharing). You have to get used to the format they want for filenames, but boxart and trailers are pretty cool features.

House-bound again today for work, which really means just waiting for the phone to ring. Finished Turing Test, and it was great. The difficulty is a little uneven, some Chapter 6 puzzles were surprisingly hard, and the final chapter (7) was really easy. The story and themes are interesting, though, and the ending is great. It shamelessly is inspired by Portal, but still manages to be its own thing.

Starting Wolfenstein today, stoked to finally play it.

I just finished mission 6? 7? In the new order. The one where you are after helicopters. I’m such a stop-start on this game over two years, but the new one looks so good I need to beat this one.

Plus the second is under the tree.

Ended up doing it over chat. They wouldn’t do the free game, which is fine because I already have it, but just did a $50 credit back to my credit card. Could have went to the store or tried a different rep but not worth the hassle. Happy enough getting $50 back.
 
I've actually been playing games lately before buying new ones. Feels weird.

I'll be traveling for work on Christmas, so probably won't be around here. Merry Christmas to all and happy holidays to those that don't celebrate Christmas. Love everyone at CAG. Haven't been around as much lately due to getting married last year and starting a very high stress job this year working with foster children and their families (I love the job).

You've got me curious about trying with MS store for a game. Technically I can return/rebuy so it's worth a shot. Hopefully I don't have to drive to the store, I'll try chat.

Its like a mini version of Far Cry 4 with caveman elements switched in for guns. I would also say it was hard to connect with the story characters because they spoke in the language of the time. Great for atmosphere, but challenging to connect to the story mode. Gameplay was solid and world was great to walk around and see. I would say you grab a discount(a deep one) on this title!

yeah I've been looking for a big discount every sale since probably the Christmas sale of 2016, and it refuses to drop below the $20 mark digital. It was funny that they did bundle if with Far Cry 4 for $3 more this year. That seems a pretty good deal.

Forza 6 as the daily deal is just a slap in the face when you really think about it.

On another note, I just bought Forza Horizon 3 and the expansion pass as a gift through Xbox Live. What a great feature!

Since the new achievements popped up I wish I would have participated lol... Also my count on the longshot and the boom are higher because of events too lol. Still currently missing about 15 kills with the snowshot to qualify for the second skin...got my 5 wins already lol.

And well the Gnasher is they way people play in VS, rarely other weapons come to use... I wish they would have included grenades I actually use them more than heavy weapons in VS lol..

I'm in the same boat. I must have sold it physically when I stalled out playing it, figuring I'd buy it digitally later and get back into it. I loved 3 but 4 was so similar that I just kind of lost interest, even though I still enjoy the gameplay.

True Achievements says yes. I believe them, as I think all of my snub pistol kills are executions. And I know for a fact that 90% of my retro lancer kills are, haha. Also, they say that versus matches against bots will work, which I may do just for a few of the weapons that I really suck with or don't feel like fighting with my team over.

Also, I'm gonna bet that I'm one of very few players that has way more Lancer kills than Gnasher kills.

Anyone have experience with how many refunds is actually enough to get you in trouble with Microsoft? I had a couple games I bought normal editions of in the sale that I got them to refund so I could buy the deluxes. I mentioned it to an xbox buddy and he started giving me hell about how I'm going to get banned. Couldn't find any real concrete answers by googling and it kinda makes my stomach churn since my entire collection is digital.

For the record, here's what I've had for support interactions this past year:

-Refunded 2 games through support so I could buy the deluxe editions instead within 24 hours of buying them.

-Contacted support to try and get a PUBG code for my second X1X purchase that was just a few days before promo started (failed).

-Contacted support to ask for a refund on Marvel Heroes Content after the game folded.

-Did a self-service refund of Destiny 2 to rebuy it as the deluxe edition.

-Contacted MS to see if I could put a hold on my live account when I sold my 1S to put towards the X in March. Support agent instead gave me a prorated refund.

-Contacted support in November 2016 to cancel Dead Rising 4 preorder. Ended up reinstating it before the game came out.

Doesn't sound like anything you did was egregious to me, but it also wouldn't surprise me at all if it's something that is flagged automatically without a human really looking at it.

Got around to hooking up my X today. Mixed results on the whole downloading 4K assets to an external drive via the S beforehand. Overall I have 28 games that show under the enhanced tab and so far I'd say around 75% of what I've tried starting up have launched okay. The big ones that needed updates were Forza 7 and RotTR at around 30 GBs each. The best part is that when I go to the updates tab it's empty lol. But that "feature" has always been fucked.

I had around 10 updates showing on the S that I assumed some were for the X assets that I was willing to hold off on due to my data cap, but a lot that are prompting now never showed an update and had been playing fine on the S.
 
If you want the latest and greatest (especially if you have an X), Forza 7 is $27.99 with GCU right now ... just sayin.
 
It all depends on how casual of a racing gamer you are. If you don't have an X and only buy a game like that say, every 5 years, then Forza 6 will be more than sufficient and is certainly a great game. Of course as is the case with most racing and sports titles, the newest one does make improvements and looks nicer, even though the visual difference will be minimal unless you have an X.
 
Thanks! I don't have an X, and am just a casual racing game fan, so I think Forza 6 will do it for me. I'm pretty much always a couple of years behind on games anyway  :razz:

Yeah I echo that you should jump on that deal even though FM7 is the latest. As said, Forza 7 was designed with microtransactions in mind. Forza 6 not so much but you also still have mods to unlock, which can boost your xp and credit progression. In FM6 there are 26 tracks with Rio being the featured new commer, 460 Forzavista cars, 24 player races with dynamic weather and night racing - all running at 1080P, 60fps goodness.

Hardly anything to skoof at. Don't forget to go to the Forza Hub to grab your weekly credit rewards (more if you have more Forza games basically).

Bought the Shadow Warrior double pack at $21. Played the first on pc and I won't mind going through it again and that's a decent enough price for a sequel that isn't supposed to be as good.
 
For some reason, even though as I said before I’m not a big sim racer and already have FM7, something is drawing me to buy FM6 anyway.

Someone talk me off the ledge....or push me over it...

Should be GwG in 2019 when the car licenses expire. Will you get it out of the backlog before then?

 
Xbox credit is no longer in the redeem list for Xbox Rewards.  Guess the Hot Deal has ended.  Was a little worried when I saw it wasn't in the suggested rewards at the bottom of the main rewards page yesterday.  Finished yesterday 32 points shy of a $5 code, hope it comes back.

The rain system is different and looks pretty slick. Tracks and cars are mostly the same. I am not sure there is even any "exclusive" tracks in Forza 6 as they put them all in Forza 7 too. Driving physics are a bit different. My main point for getting Forza 6 was 1) I wanted to own all Forza games, 2) Forza 7 loot system takes away from the experience, even when owning $300m as I do it just stands in the way and its not even fun to open lootboxes. 3) Car scrolling is really tedious, often it does not even load the liveries anymore and its so slow, 4) Porsche expansions. There is a porsche campaign on the history of Porsche in Forza 6. The DLC was on sale for $5 last week (wonder why not for the daily deal). Also I figured over time, you surely will want to play Forza 6 some day. And at $10 I mean... Sony guys would kill to have something as this on PS4.
