Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I've only dabbled with the PS4 at my best friend's house, it may be aesthetically better, but the average user isn't thinking about managing lots of digital content, years with of PS+ games, especially for people who have been using PSN for 10+ years. For disc based games and casual players, it may be functionally better, but the idea of not having a Ready to Install list sounds like insanity to me. Steam has been doing it forever, not sure why Sony can't figure it out.
It does have one.

The cover for RUSE always just makes me think "they made a video game based on that late 90's show JAG??" which always shows my age and is a reminder I have no idea what that show was about.
The guy on the right has an expression that says, "I really hope my CO doesn't small that wicked fart," and the guy on the left's expression says he already did and is really unhappy about it.

Yeah the new "group" system in the last update is another thing with the MS Dashboard that I'm finding to be a really nice feature, helps having an obscene amount of games.

Just did this, can send it to yourself and redeem the GC on your account. If you buy a lot on Amazon, it's really just $5 free and the GC can go toward what you were already going to buy.

https://twitter.com/Wario64/status/1019230165170204673

I used it along with the $5 off $20 worth of books to order some books I'd been wanting (remember those?!) and will use the $5 credit to buy a $10 XBL card.

Or to buy the MMX Legacy Collection, but I think I want it digital.

PS4 Library feature sorts by purchase date, install date and size. It also has a tab to sort through my PS Plus Library of games. It has a disc icon by disc based installs and also filters DLC pretty well. You can find what is not installed on a PS4 very easily by using the install tab. I really wish I could hide all the unnecessary system content on the PS4 dash that I never use but I just placed it in a folder and hope it will be pushed to the back of my folder group eventually.

I think that both the Xbox and PS4 interfaces are really well done and each has great features.
I am enjoying creating home groups on my Xbox One. I have one for my Gamepass games, Xbox One Digital and 360 BC games. Now I rarely have to go to my games and apps for anything.

Each system has it perks and if you spend enough time with both you can really manage your game library well on both.

Last night I booted up my PS3 for the first time in 2-3 years. It got demoted when I got the X1S because I didn't have enough HDMI slots but I wanted to take it for a spin on the new TV. Nice to see digital stuff still there, especially PS1 games, but most of them really don't look good on the TCL.

More than anything, I'm reminded of why I prefer MS file management now. The PS3 is horrible at sorting games and getting a list of what you already own to reinstall stuff. Is the PS4 any better at content management? Because I think MS has done it pretty perfectly for the X1 OS.

Game Pass also has a decent amount of exclusives (Halo 5, Gears Ultimate and the 360 games, the Fable 360 remaster) and some really great indie titles. Halo 5 also got a 4k update, and some of the 360 games that got X1X enhancements are on there (Gears 2 at least). Great way to sample how cool backwards compatibility is on X1, too.
Oh god, I forgot how bad the PS3/PSP was for navigating anything. I hate it so much. I haven't booted up my PS3 in a few years, even though I have dozens of games I've never played on it. I just hate the OS so much. Oh, can't play the PSP because the battery kind of exploded at some point while in storage.

Debating whether to pick up SP for $20 on Amazon or wait for the gold version with DLC to go on sale.

Thanks for the Injustice 2 feedback, I will be picking that up for sure.
The Gold Edition was 30 recently (E3 Sale?) and I almost bit. My backlog was what stopped me. Specifically that I still have Stick of Truth in it, with no ETA on when I'll get to it. So hopefully the Gold Edition will be dirt cheap by then.

At first blush, this looks to have the same design as the original controller but with the updated shape of the new controllers.

Well my 53 cent copy of the Crash N-sane Trilogy just got delivered from the target coupon glitch. Prime day and this weeks deal may be a let down but at least target pulled through.

Would I be making a big mistake playing halo 5 before the previous games? I don't think I'd purchase it but I could play it through gamepass before my subscription expires. I have MCC in the backlog so I'm not in as much of a rush to play them.

Did someone say Jag?

Is Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles any good? I have a small amount of credit that is about to expire. The little I played of Mirror's Edge when I had EA access didn't grab me. Figure I should grab something instead of letting it expire. I have till the 24th so can wait and see if there is something better next week I guess.
Not really. It's reminiscent of older Resident Evil games in the worst way: awful controls and shoddy graphics. Gameplay is a simple loop of shooting a few zombies, collect a few resources to stay alive, and solve a few puzzles. It has relatively easy achievements, but I think should otherwise be avoided.

Don't know how legit this is but apparently the sale will start at 1pm PST tomorrow.

I’ve been gaming for a long long time, I’m old :/
But I was thinkin if the last game that really blew me away and as soon as I started it I was hooked and played start to finish. It has to be Bioshock. What an amazing game, and 2 and 3 were so blah. I hope to feel that way about another game soon. Would you kindly let us know the last game that really knocked your socks off?

Sooo since Microsoft Rewards wasn't a thing over here before...is there a difference between the microsoft store gift card and the xbox gift card? I mean I know that you can get also physical items with the first one, but could the microsoft gift card also be used to purchase digial items from the xbox one store? Asking because there is a top deal on the microsoft store gift card right now...and I have points to burn =O

I loved Bioshock 1. Weird though because I let it lapse the first time I tried it, but then picked it up and blew through it in a few days. I never got through 2, but did enjoy 3.

As for most recent, I’d probably have to go with what a lot of people have said around the internet but Titanfall 2 has such a good campaign. Also, Hellblade really got me hooked and was a very intense story. Could only play a few parts at a time before needing a break, but a night or two later I was back at it. Probably my top two in recent memory.

Same question here. I almost have enough for $10 if I get the hot deal, which is only for the windows money, not Xbox gift card.

The past few times both the money cards were hot deals together.

Both add money to your Microsoft account the same way. They are the same.
