Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on Nier.  This will leave me with around $15 of MS credit left.

Should I go with?

The Surge

Upgrade FFXV to Royal Edition (already have Base + Season Pass)

the lego games start coming and they don't stop coming, didn't even know there was 3 different Lego Star wars on 360, figure 2 will come soon enough now that we have 1 and 3

http://www.capcom-unity.com/strumslinger/blog/2018/08/28/onimusha-warlords-arrives-on-playstation-4-xbox-one-nintendo-switch-and-steam-on-january-15-2019

More details on Onimusha

-HD visuals on all aspects, both gameplay and cutscenes

-chose between 4:3 and 16:9

-Widescreen uses the same screen-scrolling technique REmake and RE0 used in their HD ports

-also has the option of analog movement instead of tank controls.

-Easy Mode unlocked at the start

-New Soundtrack – A brand new soundtrack and Japanese voices have been recorded to accompany the newest release of Onimusha: Warlords.

I could see that last point being a negative for some. I don't know how well loved the soundtrack is, and the original game actually had the option to use Japanese or English so maybe some are attached to it even back on the PS2. It also doesn't say if it includes any of the content from (the enhanced Xbox port) Genma Onimusha either.

Is it possible that we got this games this month so that the attention is squarely on Shadow of the Tomb Raider since MS has the marketing deal with Square Enix? By announcing those four games, they'll be an afterthought by 9/12 when the deluxe edition unlocks. They may do the same in October with FH4 and Fallout 76 coming out.
I've never got the impression they work that way. The only real influence I've noticed on GWG schedules is previous games in the series coming out to try and get more interest in the new game. Like Ground Zeroes being GWG right before Phantom Pain came out. We just get good months and bad months whenever. And they seem to beef up the month around Christmas time.

Maybe though, I guess if someone wants to research major release in comparison to the GWG schedule around them.

Already have LEGO Clone Wars digital, picked it up for $5 about 2 years ago. My oldest son and I both love it. Definitely one of the more varied LEGO games I’ve played.

I'm glad I bought the Shadow of War gold edition when it randomly went on sale for $35 a while back.

I looked at the sales and briefly considered both MvC:I Deluxe and Mega Man Legacy 2... and then I thought that both of those games' previous titles (MvC3 and MML1) ended up at least half, if not more than half, as much as those current sale prices.  So I decided to wait.

Then I saw the new sales and I think I'm gonna have to bite on that RE7 Gold... and probably go ahead and pick up Revelations to complete the RE collection... and now I'm waffling on the MvC:I and MML2 again.

Someone help me decide!

You have a good point. How about it also being possible that Gamepass is a much better vehicle for "free" game delivery for them. They can give away games and then remove them whenever needed (I know it's not that simple). Also, MS would probably rather entice people to sign up for Gamepass than entice people for Xbox Live since Live is a service most people need for online gaming anyway or already see it as essential, so the games aren't necessarily the draw.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga was gold, and that was a combination of 1+2. So you already have the first 3.

4 games I don't own, 4 games I get to throw into the backlog.  Cracked &  bought Injustice 2: Legendary Edition last weekend so I could play as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  Prison Architect has been on my radar, so I'll be excited to try that.

Can't believe Modern Warfare 2 finally went backwards compatible.  Is that all of them now?  Can we get Max Payne 3 BC?

Is an Elite controller worth it for $80 a man who has 6 XBox One controllers already and primarily focuses on single player games?
Here are my observations for regular use over several months (a year?)

Pros:

-Biggest benefit for me is actually the option to customize button layouts for every game as much as I want.

-extra buttons on the back are nice. Specifically Halo 5 feels unplayable to me without them because of all the extra abilities added.

-trigger locks might benefit some more than others. They can't be used on Halo games as the Plasma Pistol won't work with the shorter pull.

-The metal sticks have the benefit of not wearing out with heavy use like the normal plastic ones do.

-Switch-able sticks of varying heights are good in theory. I stick with default 95% of the time though.

Cons:

-rubberized grips don't hold up well. Literally all 4 sections are peeling off on my controller.

-The poor bumper design internally is not changed, they still are the main failure point on the Elite.

-Optional radar dish looking d-pad is trash, I don't see how any games would benefit from this.

At $80 I can recommend it. That's not much more than a normal controller, especially if you factor in the limited edition variants or the Design Lab customs. At $150 it's hard to recommend because of the couple of badly designed elements.

i kinda wanna buy nier just not sure if ill like it on not... dont play many games like it
Really I don't think there are many games like Automata to compare it to. The main reason I praise this game so much is just how unique it is, while still maintaining excellent gameplay. If you stick all the way through the E ending, you will have an experience that can only be delivered in the medium of video games. I think a lot of other games that have strong storytelling sacrifice on the gameplay side of things in one way or another, or simply try to take too much inspiration from films.

If you've had GWG for a while I think Bayonetta is probably the closest comparison for the combat. Nier is basically a simplified version of this, but with a few extra elements thrown in, the option to customize your abilities, and not nearly as difficult. It also has many twin-shooter sections. Where it stands out is the inclusion of quests and many side things to do which are very in line with a lot JRPGs, along with excellent storytelling.

I've always enjoyed the Lego Star Wars games. I'm glad we're getting LSWIII, which I have on disc but never played. I don't have any of the other three.

I'm hoping we get Harry Potter soon.
Rumors are that the Harry Potter collection that the PS4 got a while back will be coming to Xbox, I believe in November

in terms of games I am ready to complain about not being BC, Eternal Sonata, Star Ocean, Lollipop Chainsaw, Deathspank, and The Saboteur are my top 5
I thought I was the only one to ever play Eternal Sonata. Was my first 100% back in the college days. Coworkers and I would share it around, play the crap out of it, then make fun of each other for wanting to play more. An RPG about a famous pianist in a dream world doesn't sound the best on paper, but damn does it hold together well.

Good catch. Fixed.

Fallout 76 is November so hell they could stretch into December and then rock the hell out of GWG because Smash comes out in December.

Can't tell if this is a joke or not?

Because clearly there is a map and a mission called Favela in MW2, but I they took it out of MP

You're not seriously saying they took the Favella map out of MW2 multi-player are you? I don't know the truth on this, but I loved that map.

EDIT: I just remembered the story on this. It was temporarily removed because there was apparently some offensive picture that needed to be edited out.
