Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

So I’ve been 63 point from reaching the next tier in Forza rewards for about 6 months. Figured out the fastest way was to buy 27 more cars in Forza 5 which took about and hour to do (unless I’m doing it wrong lol)....but I’m now Tier 8!!!! Won’t see the next tier until FM7 hits $20...or maybe $25.

Glad I remembered to get the Pinball FX3 tables I wanted today since those don't appear to be following the normal sales time pattern and this is the last day.

I am ABSOLUTELY loving Monster Hunter, was a little iffy on some of the new things, but as someone playing from the first, anyone who has played one before or new to the series, I can definitely recommend trying this one out, I've been doing low level missions a bunch over to play with friends, and probably will keep doing that for a while, but man am I having fun!

My “Retire The 360” quest takes another step forward after completing Dust earlier this week.
Is this Dust: An Elysian Tail? I just started playing last week (need to finish another game) but I'm getting my ass kicked by the first boss (the stone guys). Any tips?

Yeah, that Dust. I spammed Fidget’s attack combined with the dust storm attack and just kept going back and forth with it.

Longshot is available again in the Gears stream.
Was glad to see that the Longshot came back today couldn't get it because i had to go to sleep (Early shift this week) can't watch the whole stream today either probably will get 1 or 2 more skins, but probably miss the retro since (and maybe the Embar too) since I have to get up early on Sunday as well. Damn time zones lol...

Boltok is currently up for grab.

Btw did you ever get that supporter pack from the raffle?

The Steam version never got achievements, so I wouldn't be surprised if they got out of having to do that since the game is so big.
Steam doesn't have any kind of set guidelines for achievements. There have been only a handful of games in the Game Preview that had achievements. When it has an "actual release" it will have the 1000 gs required of any title from the $2 indie game to the $59.99 AAA title.

What starting weapon are you using?I picked the first one which is some huge buster blade and it swings slow due to its size but it seems this type of weapon is favored in this series.

Rumor has it that all future dlc will be free, which is nice to hear even if I have no clue what it will actually be.
I don't know if all DLC being free is likely, but they have announced that there will be free updates including new monsters to hunt, and that it won't be funded by (specifically) lootboxes. To my knowledge Capcom has never done completely free DLC by itself, it usually comes alongside bigger paid DLCs, which seems to be the current strategy with their other games.

-Street Fighter V had many smaller tweaks, a better story mode, an Arcade mode, and an additional V-Trigger added to all characters for free, with paid characters and costumes being the big additions.

-Resident Evil VII had it's free Not A Hero episode with the rest of the add-ons being paid.
-Dead Rising 4 was given additional difficulties, minor tweaks, and Capcom Heroes mode for free (though this was most likely to not upset Xbox owners as it was new feature for PS4.)

If I had to guess, you'll see a few free monsters, presumably the armor associated with them, and limited time events like the Horizon Zero Dawn one currently on PS4, with stuff like the current cosmetic DLCs to "fund" them, along with one or more paid expansions down the line if the game does well enough, which I would guess add at least one big new area and monsters to fill it. Sounds pretty standard compared to other games like Destiny or whatever, but Capcom hasn't really done anything like this yet.

It seems to be doing pretty well on Twitch, number 5 under the big dogs, with Sea of Thieves surprisingly holding up in there. If they sort out the multiplayer matchmaking being busted within a week or so it seems like it could do very well.

^^ That arcade mode, V-triggers and other additions to Street Fighter V was a gigantic update. Basically was like a rerelease if the whole game (which was warranted based on its pathetic state when it originally came out).

I have a 4K HDR TV that has Dolby Vision and HDR 10 and I don't get the big draw. The picture looks great with it on or off. Maybe I have HDR blindness.
Are you sure you’re watching HDR content? Makes a huge difference to me — even more than the 4K itself IMO.

Yeah, I worded it bad but I wasn't classifying those other changes as small. I do consider Arcade Edition to basically be the 1.0 version of the game though, especially if considered without adding in the season 1, 2, and 3 character. Capcom didn't classify it as early access but in practice that's what it was, except it's cheaper to jump in now than it was if you bought the game earlier, since you can get the pack that comes with season 1 and 2, or buy the base game for dirt cheap and get all the upgrades.

they can keep adding content to sfV but at the end of the day the core gameplay just isn't very good, sfV than mvci showed capcom just doesn't care anymore or they are incompetent

Yep. That’s what I did was got the base game cheap and got the upgrades. Not a huge SF player but like to play single player every now and then. And the initial release was a hard pass with the lack of single player content. Now, it’s a great game with lots of SP stuff to do...especially for $15.99 with GCU. :)

As far as Monster Hunter, I could never get into the series but recently picked up MH3 Ultimate on Wii U for $8 thinking I’d give it another shot. And that version is surprisingly accessible with better tutorials than I remember in any other MU game I’ve tried.

Maybe I will end up getting into it and eventually pick up MU World.

Still not sure I have the time to devote to learning all the ins and outs but when it’s cheap enough.....

Man I need to get used to this HDR stuff. It looks good but I'm not too blown away yet. My Panny LED was almost comparable to this.
You have this already set right?

I'm not sure what Panny you had but when I went from my P series Vizio with no HDR to this x900e, it was a huge difference with HDR content. Like my eyes squint from the brightness lol. This is on Xbox one X right? Is the Xbox configured for HDR? Are you just comparing HDR games or have you tried HDR 4K movies as well?

I noticed that some games don't look that great with HDR on my Xbox X. Gears 4 looks good, as does Injustice 2. Monster Hunter looks nice but I have not put much time into it yet to really see the environments. Forza Horizon 3 and Forza 7 on the other hand just look OK IMO. GT Sport for comparison looks amazing in HDR. They implemented HDR highlights that really make the cars and tracks pop.

If you haven't already try the settings from rtings that reaperztoll linked and see how it looks then. Depending on your room lighting you just may need to adjust the brightness to your liking.

I've played very little SFV, but having just picked up MvC for $9, gameplay is just about the only thing the game has going for it. Yeah, it's pretty different from MvC 2 and 3 because of the shift to two character teams and all the baby-mode handicaps on by default, but at it's core it is a solid fighter from what I've played so far.

For me, just about everything else points to your conclusion, but not the gameplay itself. Poor presentation in all respects (UI, banter, end screens, everything), bad art style, lazy roster. I get the impression that the gameplay team gave a shit, but not anyone else in any other department, and that just isn't the case when you look at their competition in games like Tekken 7, Injustice 2, and now Dragonball FighterZ. I hope Bamco and the team on Soul Calibur VI learned from the poor receptions on SFV, MvC:I and their own Soul Calibur V, and keep up to the standard Tekken has set.

Also keep in mind that MvC is an internal team for the first time in forever, while SFV is handled by Dimps like IV was. They don't have the same people behind them. The less recent Vs Capcom games, MvC3 and Tatsunoko, were also outsourced to a different team, Eighting.

I'd probably say Injustice as well, but I haven't gotten my hands on many new fighters in the last couple of years. I've been playing too many shooters to dedicate much time to getting decent. NetherRealm has really stepped up their game starting with Mortal Kombat 9 though, and I'm definitely impress. It seems like Tekken is in that boat as well. I'm just not as into the core gameplay of the series as I am with most other games, but Harada and the team really put a lot of effort into making the series solid.

If they don't blow it with Soul Calibur this time it'll probably be my favorite overall. I don't get the impression that they were rushing to throw it together in a year like what happened with V, but only time will tell.

I'll never retire my 360 till I can buy 360 games with my credit. The system is literally the only way to use credit to buy games.

But yeah I don't think NFL Head Coach is going to be BC anytime soon lol.
I don't understand why Microsoft is so ass backwards with this policy. I don't have a 360 with internet, so I will never be buying any 360 games because I only use credit.

Glad I remembered to get the Pinball FX3 tables I wanted today since those don't appear to be following the normal sales time pattern and this is the last day.
Thanks for the reminder. I thought they were off sale tomorrow for some reason. Still thinking about the Bethesda tables.

Yeah I played with the settings for an hour and I think I've settled on a nice calibration. I have all the right things checked off. I said that I wasn't too enthused initially because I was playing Battlefront 2 and it looked washed out, even with HDR enabled. Turns out BF 2 has some serious issues handling HDR. I ended up throwing in Gears 4 and the colors made my jaw drop. There's a striking amount of detail in that game. I also threw on Shadow Of War, that also looks excellent with nice colors and a ton of detail.

Lesson learned for today: not all HDR games are created equally.

I know it was mentioned that the latest Forzathon in Forza 7 was borked so they must have taken it down. I could access it earlier but now it just says "Coming Soon".

I ended up throwing in Gears 4 and the colors made my jaw drop. There's a striking amount of detail in that game. I also threw on Shadow Of War, that also looks excellent with nice colors and a ton of detail.

Lesson learned for today: not all HDR games are created equally.
Yeah, I think AC Origins is probably the best showcase for HDR, followed by Shadow of War, Gears 4 and Halo 5. The Forza games look great but a bit too dark IMO even after tweaking the settings in game.

Skyrim is also looks damn good in HDR.

Currently playing (idling) clicker heroes to get on the board like some you yous with high amounts of entries.I just started doing this today and will leave Xbox on over night also helps to have a charger plugged in to prevent controller from idling and booting you from game.

AC Origins looked gorgeous in standard 1080p on my X, I just rented it again from Gamefly to play the new DLC. I'm super excited to see what it looks like with HDR enabled.

I have a 4K HDR TV that has Dolby Vision and HDR 10 and I don't get the big draw. The picture looks great with it on or off. Maybe I have HDR blindness.
If you get the chance play some AC origins. Off the top of my head something where you can really see what it does is at night time when the moon reflects off some of the smaller water ways it's pretty crazy looking.

There was an error, chat said to reclaim the embar to make sure to get it..
Yeah, the first time I tried to claim it, it went through, then it said the quest was closed, then it reopened again. I claimed it again, then it popped into the chat to be sure to claim it. Shows as claimed, so I guess I'm good. Probably not going to use those skins anyway, since completing the set is behind the RNG paywall (Lancer, Gnasher, Snub).

Also, I did get the eSports pack from the stream raffle. Got a Black Steel V-Day Marcus, Pro Circuit Hammerburst (Epic), Dropshot (Rare) and emblem, plus something else.

Damn, Optic just got spanked.

I fired up Gears 4, the Mexico City weapons are already awarded.  Got 2 Longshots and the Embar.  The duplicate Longshot could be scrapped.

I'm surprised they have a $200,000 prizepool or whatever on the Gears stream. I've been watching Overwatch League (OWL) over the last couple of weeks and it consistently has at least 10 times as many viewers as the Gears streams, and it's still not really coming that close to the DOTA, LoL, or CS:GO tournaments in terms of viewers.

They must sell a lot of those supporter packs to fund the Gears stuff.

they can keep adding content to sfV but at the end of the day the core gameplay just isn't very good, sfV than mvci showed capcom just doesn't care anymore or they are incompetent.
MVCI is decent but SFV (and Marvel vs Capcom 3) is the biggest piece of shit they ever did. I honestly would rather play SF1 or SF The movie then deal with SFV anymore.

Dragonball FighterZ is fun but I dunno how long I'll stick with it. The gameplay is super scrubby and the lobby system is nightmarishly bad. It took almost an hour to find my friends in game and then set up a lobby. And it has really long load times.

To make the game even more like the show, do the loading screens have characters trembling in fear with shocked looks on their faces?

Random question: in the Xbox Rewards Being Doctor mission, is anyone else having trouble with the achievement mission? It says complete five achievements in the game(s) you purchased. Does that mean five EACH? Or just 5? Because I completed 5 in both Knee Deep and Another World Days ahk and nothing’s popped. I also bought Soul Axiom, Octodad, and Rime so I don’t know if it actually means each.
FWIW, I only completed 5 achievements in a single game (Inside). It did take 7-8 days for them to register on the rewards page. They registered the same day that my $2 avatar item went through (about 72 hours after purchase), have you bought that yet? I know it says that challenge 3 is only supposed to be linked to challenge one but I wonder if it’s not tied to both. Good luck, feel free to report back for others.
