Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Hmmmm... maybe this will actually make me play a Far Cry game for the first time
Besides the companions it looks like it plays like 3 and 4. They're a lot of fun with the various methods you can go about taking on outposts. I usually end up doing a combination of all three methods he describes by sniping a bit, going in to stealthily clean up and end up getting spotted then go guns blazing.

The $5 GamePass deal is still live for those it was targeted for, really tempted to keep loading up. Lots of people on reddit have gone over 1 year, one person up to 3, and it's been up for days now. Safe to assume MS doesn't care / wants people subscribing regardless.

I have it featured on my xbox but when I click it, it still shows $9.99?

the mardi gras packs in gears have no characters apparently, which is kind of nice, I bought 20 of the thrashball packs and got 0 characters anyway, loot boxes are the worst

It on my Xbox UI home screen too. Do you have to shut off the auto renew to purchase multiple $5 months? It says 9.99 after the first month. And does the website send you a 25 digit code?

The first time this came around you did, according to awp, but not right now. Redeemed 6 months worth without ever disabling it.

My PS4 Pro is loud as heck. Never noticed before, but I left the room with the game on pause, came back and thought the air conditioner was blowing
My PS4 Pro only ever got OBNOXIOUSLY loud when I played Nier Automata for some reason otherwise it's fine. My xbox one S and X are dead silent.

I just want to say how much fun I've been having with Split/Second. Not sure what kind of upscaling and post processing is going on but the game looks gorgeous! I've been having more fun with this game than any racer this gen and just when I thought I couldn't have any more fun I decided to try online. I had tried to find some online games on the 360 maybe a week before the game was announced it was going back compat and not a single mouse to be found. Same with Blur. Just got off a few games with full lobbies on the X. Woohoo!

Yes that and BLUR were to great games that came out, hoping BLUR and NFU2 go to BC.

Yea I would love that too unfortunately BLUR has over 50 licensed cars which might make it more complicated to port over to the Xbox One. Hopefully we see it one day. The game was already good looking on the 360. I imagine it would be even more stunning with the power of the X!

Those crafty engineers at Microsoft, I mean pretty impressive when you consider them being software oriented really, were able to get a lot of performance out of the X while giving incredible cooling to it as well. Mainly because of its Vapor Chamber;

Vapor chamber or flat heat pipes[edit]

Thin planar heat pipes (heat spreaders) have the same primary components as tubular heat pipes: a hermetically sealed hollow vessel, a working fluid, and a closed-loop capillary recirculation system.[9] In addition, a series of posts are generally used in a vapor chamber, to prevent collapse of the flat top and bottom when the pressure is lower than atmospheric, which is 100 °C for water vapor chambers.

There are two main applications for vapor chambers. First, they are used when high powers and heat fluxes are applied to a relatively small evaporator.[10] Heat input to the evaporator vaporizes liquid, which flows in two dimensions to the condenser surfaces. After the vapor condenses on the condenser surfaces, capillary forces in the wick return the condensate to the evaporator. Note that most vapor chambers are insensitive to gravity, and will still operate when inverted, with the evaporator above the condenser. In this application, the vapor chamber acts as a heat flux transformer, cooling a high heat flux from an electronic chip or laser diode, and transforming it to a lower heat flux that can be removed by natural or forced convection. With special evaporator wicks, vapor chambers can remove 2000 W over 4 cm2, or 700 W over 1 cm2.[11]

Second, compared to a one-dimensional tubular heat pipe, the width of a two-dimensional heat pipe allows an adequate cross section for heat flow even with a very thin device. These thin planar heat pipes are finding their way into “height sensitive” applications, such as notebook computers and surface mount circuit board cores. It is possible to produce flat heat pipes as thin as 1.0 mm (slightly thicker than a 0.76 mm credit card).[12]

Quality stuff & if I didn't have internet caps I'd have an XB1 X yesterday lol.

AND yeah I would be a happy man if Blur & NFSU2 came to BC support! I played the demo of NFSU2 on my computer back in the day, for like, weeks before I eventually picked up the full game! lol

Anyone know how Okami is on a One X? I played the original when it came out on the PS2, and figured I'd just wait for a PS4 sale to have it on my OG PS4, but for $14 if there's anything notable about it on the One X I may just strike now and deal with the controller difference.

I know this is probably a dumb question but are you able to gift at the discounted price?

Seeing that the $5 GamePass deal lasts for the next 7981 years (with 7000+ years of inflation that's a real steal) I decided to add 14 months.

1 from X1X code + 1 for leaving on auto renew with X1X code + 12 @ $5 + tax /month

Then I shut off auto renew.

My X is indeed quiet, unexpectedly puts out a fair amount of heat.

Picked up Monster Hunter at GS of all places(sealed not gutted!), traded an old controller, WWE 2k18, and Wipeout Omega Collection to take advantage of a 30% bump so I got more than I paid for the games combined and got rid of a controller I never used because the sticks were a little loose.

My X is normally super quiet, but man it seems like Battlefront 2 is the only game to make that fucker sound like its really working overtime. Actually Shadow Of Mordor occasionally makes it run fairly noisy too.

Split/Second is easily one of my favorite racing games from last gen. My other favorite racers are NFSU2, Burnout Revenge, Burnout Paradise, NFS:MW (2005), MCLA: Complete Edition, MC3: DUB Edition Remix, Ridge Racer 7, and BLUR. The only current-gen racing game I'm enjoying so far is Driveclub for PS4. Would love to see MCLA: Complete Edition and MC3: DUB Edition Remix go BC if they aren't already.

gamestop has Splinter cell conviction for 2.99 so I grabbed a copy, was surprised to find it mint and not disc only, I'm pretty terrible at stealth games so hopefully the mark and execute system makes it easier for me
Grabbed the last copy at my GS for 2.99 with case and book, also grabbed The Darkness II which is BC for 2.99 grabbed two other old ones for the 4 for $10. The funny thing is when the guy was ringing it up, someone called on the phone looking for SC and he said I'm selling the last one right now, LOL!

I forget who said they were going to do the 100,000 gamerscore (was in Disney world when I read it). But I’m in too, I feel like I’ve been neglecting my need for Achievements. Since I’m late to the game imma go from feb 1st to feb 1st. And I guarantee (maybe?) that rare replay will be in that 100,000.
Speaking of, I’m about a 3rd done Rarereplay and man is it a blast. Everyone should try it (and everyone should have it considering how many times it was free :p)

Also for all the people with Gamepass, they recently(ish) added deadlight, it’s a great game with a fun story and clocks in at about 2 hours. It’s a must I feel

I'm doing the 100k in 365 days. I started on Tuesday 2/6/2018 so you won't be far behind.

Feel free to PM me if you want to exchange info, tips, etc.

I have it and think it looks great. Played it on PS2, owned it on Wii and even got it for PS3 but never played those last two. I can't say whether or not it really is pushing the X with 4K or anything spectacular, but it looks good to me.

I'll pull the trigger on Okami right after this post.

I feel strange.  I have some well-received titles in the backlog:  AC Origins, South Park TFBH, Prey, Dishonored DOTO, Evil Within 2.

But I'll probably play Okami next.  Never played it before, so it's not due to nostalgia.  But for some reason, I am more interested in it than the ones listed above.

Mini-review of Slayaway Camp - bought it during this week's sale.

I like it a lot.  It's a puzzle game where you play as a serial killer/monster trying to slay all the counselors/teenagers.  The style, the humor, it's so original.  I honestly bought it more for the style than the substance - I'm not really into puzzle games normally.  But I enjoy it.

My only "issue" is that I expected the game to be one I can pick up and play for 10 or 15 minute short bursts.  But some of the later puzzles are so hard, it'll take me 20 minutes PLUS to figure out a single one.  They've very impressively designed.  There's a "hint" system in the game, but I wont allow myself to use it.

I recommend the game if you wanna try something that breaks the mold.  But be aware that you're definitely playing an iphone/android game on your xbox and paying a premium for it.  The apple version costs 2.99, but contains in-app purchases.  The Xbox version is 10.19 (with the sale) but contains no micro-transactions.  10.19 is pushing it, so there's no way I can recommend the game at its normal xbox price of 16.99.

Also should mention that the iOS version really only has one $1.99 DLC IAP plus some monthly murder club that is completely unnecessary unless you just want to collect characters.

Personally think it seems like a game that would be easier to play on mobile. Swiping to move, etc. It’s a fun game though.

Keep those anime deals coming. I'm always down for free anime.

I'm so happy the Rare Replay Collection added the rewind feature. It allowed me to beat that damn third level in Battletoads for the first time. It seems like that second driving level in the water wasn't so bad. Meanwhile, I'm stuck on the following level with snakes where rewind isn't helping me that much.

Also happy that I got the collection for free because, I gotta be honest, many of these games aren't that good and I would feel ripped off paying $30 for it. Ok it's not Action 52 bad but I did get a vibe that many of the games were similar in gameplay - and not easy.

I haven't received any either. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed they'll come soon.  At least before deposit day.

More time with Monster Hunter, feels like PSO back in the day. Also, bow is very good. Much better than I expected. I have no idea how to capture monsters, it's not actually explained.

Curious how the end of the Freedom Rewards thing will work out with their wonky tracking.

Gotta make/get shock traps, put them near the monster, have them walk into it and then pelt it with tranquilizers in the face til it falls asleep.

Got my 15,000 rewards points from the gems. Love how last week I had a button there to request an early deposit when I only had ~3,000. Now it’s gone when I have enough for a deposit.

Hmm. I knew throwing the capture get wasn't good enough. It does good fishing. I did try to capture a Great Jagras with sleep arrows but I lullabied it to death.
