If you have to think twice about purchasing the newest version of a sports game for less than $5 that plenty of people have vouched for, then you probably shouldn't be playing sports games. You should know right away if you would enjoy playing an NBA game that offers a full slate of ways to play.

Of course if you have EA Access you get a pass since it will end up in there.

I was mostly joking, but the exact same could be said of Madden circa 2005 (thru now for that matter). Have you seen NBA specifically comment on exclusivity? If 2k or EA threw a boatload of cash at them I could see them go exclusive. From what I understood Sega's antics forced EA to throw said boatload of cash at the NFL to choke out it's better competitor, not caused the NFL to look to exclusivity with EA. All that said, I don't think 2k has the ability to pay that much anyway.

I've spoken with a few friends that went last night (movies here in Costa Rica open on Thuersdays), and while they liked/loved it, they all also agreed that the film was massively over-hyped.

Even though I prefer DC in every sense of the word, I've enjoyed most of the MCU entries, EXCEPT Iron Man 3 and the first two Thors. I could go on a rant on how Civil War, despite having better focus, had some if not the same issues BvS had, but I won't. Is not 2016 anymore  :whistle2:

Anyways, I'm sure I will enjoy the African Batman movie later tonight.

PS: I liked and enjoyed TLJ, but it had some glaring issues. Not the childhood and nostalgia killer the internet claims it is but it wasn't perfect either.

I think the issue with the last Jedi is not that people liking it is so unbelievable, but that the critic score is so off compared to the actual audience reaction.

Anyway, looking forward to Black Panther still, but expectations are quite a bit lower seeing all the hate it’s getting.

You're wrong on that assumption. Sega's antics caused the NFL to rethink their video game licensing deals and decide to go exclusive with it like everything else they were doing at the time. They held an off-site meeting to take bids for exclusivity, which included EA, Sega, and Sony at the least from what has been confirmed by people at those companies at the time. The NBA rebuffed that idea and said they preferred to have a variety of partners to appeal to different styles of games and players.

The MLB deal went really bad for 2K and the industry as a whole, so I doubt they want to rock the money boat and invite more criticism and scrutiny than they currently get for their poor servers, bad gameplay, and overbearing microtransactions. It's not like the general genre hasn't seen default exclusivity as players mostly sided with the better game over competitors to the point that it wasn't financially feasible to keep making subpar games for the hell of it. That's why there has been no viable competitor for MLB or NHL games and NBA just got its first in nearly 10 years.

 
Finished all the story in ReCore last night, along with the DLC story missions. Beat the main dungeons and mostly had fun doing it. Some of the final battle arenas are cheap and the lack of polish on combat is apparent. Mostly enjoyed it, though, and may come back every so often to try and finish off the achievements. I hope it gets a proper sequel with a proper budget.

For all one or two of you who might care, American Nightmare just released their first album in 15 years and I'm losing my mind.

Yeah, they changed it to Give Up the Ghost for legal reasons in ~2003 and were officially known that way, but everyone still called them American Nightmare. Then Wes made some throwback 80s synth in his band Cold Cave. AN had a reunion in 2011, played some fests, and the new record came out today (and released under the original band name). It's really fucking good.

What hate? Just got back from my 12:30 showing. Awesome movie, loved it. Can totally see a certain group of wall-loving people not being happy with it...which was all the more reason to love it for me.

That Killmonger showing up in the throne room for the first time scene I keep thinking about and it kinda blows my mind how much I enjoyed it.

 
I also thought Black Panther was pretty damn good. I don't see how anyone could HATE this movie, except for those certain reasons that a lot of people won't even admit to themselves, much less other people.

Started Refunct two nights ago to try to stay alive in the GTASC. Got all the achievements except beating it in 4 minutes, though it turned out I could've saved a couple of them for this week. Took me a lot of tries last night, but finally beat it in 4 minutes for the last achievement. Kept messing up the pillar jumping near the end. Finishing 4:06, 4:04, miss a pillar jump, 4:22, 4:05. Finally managed a clean run with a decent route - 3:45. No idea how to shave another 50+ seconds off for the top non-cheat times on TA.

Will probably use Gone Home to stay alive this week, though I may wrap up the Master at Arms in Gears this weekend in the casual AI play list. Will also play some of the original Sonic for a non-divisible by 5 achievement for the weekly bonus. Though I could start Double Dragon Neon for the 1-pointer you get for firing up the game for the time.

Kinda excited about all the Gears stuff going on, but not sure if I can actually get to all of it, since I'm currently playing with an old friend Diablo 3 - as she just got an Xbox One =P Would like to finish the master at arms achievement and the one for all classes to level 10..(still only scout at level 9 left).

As for the GTASC, I also barely made it this week, I mean still 100 TA between me and the cutoff but the last 2 hours the rank was dropping heavily lol. Also Bloomy don't forget you still got 2 bonuses and the safety bench you can use. (do have the same). Games saving me were gone home before and now walking dead michonne (played through the 360 now I'm on the Xbox One version lol).

As for the odd achievement score numbers...still haven't finshied luxor 2, my GS right now can't be dvided by 5 because of this lol

I never would have thought I'd see them brought up in the xbox deals thread. I know you and some others have brought up some punk/hardcore/metal bands in the past, it's just surprising. Living in/around Boston I was lucky enough to have seen them frequently pre/post break up, seeing them on Sunday as well.

Your recore post made me wonder. I'm not subscribed, do gamepass games include DLC or did you buy it?

You're wrong on that assumption. Sega's antics caused the NFL to rethink their video game licensing deals and decide to go exclusive with it like everything else they were doing at the time. They held an off-site meeting to take bids for exclusivity, which included EA, Sega, and Sony at the least from what has been confirmed by people at those companies at the time. The NBA rebuffed that idea and said they preferred to have a variety of partners to appeal to different styles of games and players.

The MLB deal went really bad for 2K and the industry as a whole, so I doubt they want to rock the money boat and invite more criticism and scrutiny than they currently get for their poor servers, bad gameplay, and overbearing microtransactions. It's not like the general genre hasn't seen default exclusivity as players mostly sided with the better game over competitors to the point that it wasn't financially feasible to keep making subpar games for the hell of it. That's why there has been no viable competitor for MLB or NHL games and NBA just got its first in nearly 10 years.

Not an assumption, but thanks for assuming that it was, rather an incorrect faded memory apparently, although I think I'll blame it on Dr They and his "Mengela Effect." Literally just finished watching that episode of the X-Files. Great one. Despite inviting several companies, it was clearly a one horse race.

The MLB deal was a nightmare. It kills me there is has been no MLB option on Xbox systems for five years now.

I'm not aware of any separately purchaseable DLC for the game, although the Definitive Edition (which everyone gets for free) added more content.

I saw them once back in... 2003, with Suicide File? They broke up 2 weeks before I was supposed to see them again. Definitely going to the tour this spring. What is it with bands from Boston putting out prolific records?

And, as someone else said, the DLC for ReCore was a title update for the definitive edition, so it's all via game pass for me.

MLB at least is taking it to heart and is bringing development in-house for RBI Baseball 18, which is at least looking much improved from the previous entries made by outside developers:

Very suspicious that we have a so called "White Supremacists" school shooting - seriously have you paid attention to what's going on with that event as this was a journalististic error/ retracted from some sources & driven on others, had a mass shooting drill earlier in the day, eye witnesses stated there were unknown assailants in the building, one being next to this guy (who was on psychotropic medication) - who was dropped off from an Uber at the school with a backpack, who had been flagged and banned to have a backpack in fear that he might shoot up the school, had been flagged to the FBI via a concerned citizen a month ago! - when they heard more gunfire away from this individual in a hallway nearby - days before Blank Panther comes out. Please be careful everyone. Just like Vegas, this smells. If the shit hits the fan, come visit me in the country, we'll hunker down, grab a pint and wait for all this to blow over.

It is comical that the fictional nation in this film professes a lot of what Trump wants to do with America, walled off sovereign nation, pride in nationalism, no immigration, exploits its own resources. Disney is becoming very political all of a sudden or the MSM is out of control. Yeah, no, The Last Jedi was a bad movie, the director did a months long apology tour explaining what he was trying to do and what they messed up. Say what you will about George Lucas' prequels but at least they had a f'n direction as the Last Jedi was all over the place. I don't know why he got all the blame, a lot of the decisions and ideas of the script, which was being written on the fly, were placed in there from Disney leadership themselves.

I really hope they don't ruin Deadpool 2.

Just throwing my two cents into the black panther fray...I won't be watching it, that's because it's about a character I've never had any interest in at all. Even when he married Storm in the comics I skipped that entire storyline because even though she's a favorite of mine, I just don't care for his character. Even if it's the greatest hero movie ever made, the character just has no appeal to me. Same for Black Lightning, I never cared for the character (same with Green Arrow as well) so I don't watch that (or that) either. Trump or no Trump I still wouldn't be inclined to watch a Black Panther movie.

The Last Jedi...was worth seeing for me just to see Leia tap into the force for all of ten seconds. The rest of the movie...blah...didn't much care for it. I really can't stand any of the new characters except for Poe and that new Laura Dern character they already killed off. For me it's all about nostalgia having been raised on the original trilogy and that's now gone from any new Star Wars movie, especially with the original characters gone.

He may not belong to a white supremacist group but they do have Instagram and other social media posts by Cruz basically espousing hate against Mexicans, Jews and black people. I’d say that’s enough to know he’s pretty much a white supremacist.
