Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Ewww, what is this crap sale?  Feels like MS just randomly picked stuff to put on sale.  Hopefully the 360 selection will be better, but I'm not counting on it.

FYI, don't know when this month.  But one week in July, EA will be putting the Battlefield 1 Apocalypse DLC for free during the weekly sales.

Hey now, Just when you thought this week was complete shit, the kindness of strangers shines through! Looks like we wont be taking a week off as fellow CAG Glass_Ghost_0 was kind enough to donate this :

ASSASSINS CREED UNITY GAME CODE

as always

like this post to be entered into the raffle!

Thanks Glass_Ghost_0 very very cool of you!

When hinges creak in doorless chambers, and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls. Whenever candlelight flickers where the air is deathly still --- that is the time Glass_ghosts are present, practicing their kindness with xboxy delight!

Wouldn’t it be easier to just spend the $0.87 at cdkeys than to like that post 😄

But seriously, I appreciate your giveaways Pat!

It looks like both Risk and Risk: Urban Assault are both on sale for $6.  If I had to pick one, which one would be better?

Been recently playing a few games from Gamepass and recently finished Hue. Was a great puzzle game and the colour changing was really good. Now playing Brothers: a Tale of Two Sons and finding it good also, even if I mix up the controls sometimes lol.

I’ve always been tempted by these and would like to know as well. Particularly wonder how much single player these offer. I used to love playing Risk when I was a kid.

Give me a year or two and I'll let you know how they are once they're out of my backlog. I got that Hasbro family fun pack with six games last time it went on sale. I have played three of the games from the pack, so it's not completely lost in the backlog.

Seriously though, if you'd like I can play them over the next couple of days and let you know.

Anybody had a Sorry message come up when turn Xbox on and find out you are signed out?

I just received this message and I try and sign back in and having problems signing in.

I was having big problems with this myself. I had to contact an Xbox customer service rep to get it fixed. Try this: remove your account from the system and add it again, logging in with your email and password. Once done, shut down the machine and unplug it. Drain out the power by holding the power button on the front of the system for a few seconds. Next, plug the power supply back into your Xbox and turn it on.

Once you've done all that, go to the settings and set your power management as energy saving (not always on). It takes longer to boot this way but every time your system starts, it should start fresh. Good luck!

I just started playing The Witcher III after mustering up the strength to endure the journey I knew it would be....and I think I STILL underestimated how huge that game is. Holy mother of jeebus. I've already put in 25 hours and I'm still only in Velen. I still have to go through Novigrad and Skelliege, plus the rest of the end game, AND the DLC on top of that. This is going to be the only game I play for the rest of the summer lmao. It's awesome, though. Wish I'd have dug it out of my backlog a lot sooner. Gwent is life.

Long day for xbox mistakes, I'm in the skip ahead alpha preview ring and evidently the update they sent out yesterday or the day before had some huge problem with it so the update that hit tonight forced a factory reset. Not a full one, all my games were still there, but it was a 3gb download plus the process of updating the settings and another 700mb update to boot. It also unlinked all apps so that'll be fun at 2am when I want to watch Futurama.

They did add a thing I've never seen before, as my console was downloading the setup process update it let me log into the xbox app and finish the setup before the download was installed. Probably only saved a minute from the process but was kinda cool.

Ha it was so hard to wrap my head around it a few times but just sticking through it to the end I had it down. Not a terribly long game few hours or so. Also, I'm still not a fan of Android Assault Cactus because it has my fatal flaw of twin stick shooters, separation of aim and and actually shooting with 2 different controller inputs. A great one I played recently was Riddled Corpses EX, didn't see that one brought up

I got that as well. It removed all 4 of my accounts and had to re DL them. Not only that but it was giving me a hard time trying to connect to get them back. Like you had to resign into to all my app as well. lol I was like dang it MS. :p

Easy to get time lost in that game because the side quests can be so interesting. I had to get every Gwent card of course, make sure once you get to Novigrad you do "Big City Players" I've "beat" the game and haven't even started the DLCs yet because I know I'll be lost for a month in them, will be even nicer now that I can play on a One X.

I’ve always wanted to play From Dust, just never got around to buying it, so I guess the sale isn’t a complete bust for me.

Anyone know if GRAW1 still holds up decent today?

Thanks for the tip, but after I looked around a bit, checked the Xbox status page and put something here I go back and I was signed in lol.

I have both Risk games and they are both fun if you ever enjoyed the board game. Definitely worth $6 a piece. Urban Assault it more like an expansion to Risk and uses the same game engine. It adds some new game play elements and focuses on conquering cities not the world. If you do get them make sure you download the Hasbro game channel to launch the games and unlock in game rewards.

I'm playing in 60fps on my X. The 4K mode is strikingly beautiful but I just can't do 30fps if a better option is available. I'll take the graphics hit if it means no motion blur.

I'm totally a 60fps guy, so it's good that Phil is saying next gen has to be 60fps across the board. I think Forza Horizon 4 at 60fps will open up some eyes since there is something tangible to compare it to with Horizon 3.

Screen shot in that thread also shows We Happy Few coming to Game Pass. Was that ever announced?
Where are you seeing that exactly, I see they will be on "Inside Xbox" Not saying any one of those games couldn't be a GamePass game, Horizon 4 already being a known quantity. Dang though No Man's Sky updated version, Vermintide II, Descenders and even that Earthfall looks interesting in a we are going to fill the gap of Left for Dead before Walking Dead Overkill comes out.

Ah, you’re right. Sorry. Didn’t get much sleep last night.

Hey Phil want's gamepass to be Netflix, these are the moves that need to be made heading into the next showdown with Sony.

I'm tempted to pick up toy soldiers but the standard and legendary edition have been on sale in the last month for the first time I think. Makes me think it's a good candidate for games with gold. Have they given a GwG with glitches achievements before?

Oh they've done GWG with glitched achievements a lot, one of the ATX Reflex Duran Duran whatever games comes to mind with like half of the achievements disabled. The thing to worry about with Toy Soliders War Chest is I hear it doesn't even run, like won't get past the loading screen start menu. It's actually shameful it's still being sold.

Hey Phil want's gamepass to be Netflix, these are the moves that need to be made heading into the next showdown with Sony.
It's a bold move and could go either way TBH. I feel like Gamepass is really picking up steam while Playstation Now is fumbling and I'm not sure I want either to succeed just yet. I recently rediscovered the joys of buying physical music after using Spotify for months, and it's a reversal of the direction that gaming may be headed. I don't exactly find it nostalgic, just something rewarding finding a used copy of a great album or discovering an artist put out a new album after years of silence just from being in a store to see it. These are the things I would miss should we go to an entirely subscription based gaming catalogue.

Would it be cheaper? Yes. But for me, you can't put a price on shopping experience and getting a game online as part of a sub would really cheapen the whole thing. I also feel like it would be easier for companies to tell us what to play by choosing what is included for free, further creating a financial divide between triple-A and indie. We really need less umbrella corps IMO.
