Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Yay indeed! I too am surprised at the people here. Most of the internet is not like this.

Really? I had no idea. That will definitely make it more manageable. I'll try not to make it years. :p
What's really nice is that even though it's focused on Xbox deals, there doesn't seem to be any childish console war stupidity in here.

Man, Destiny 2 & Expansions at $20 is a great price - and it'd look great with my XB1X in HDR - but is it really worth buying now knowing I'd be behind the times in six weeks when the new expansion comes out, especially because people will probably say its "essential" (which is what people said last time with the latter Destiny expansions)...?
I'm assuming one of the reasons Best Buy is trying to more or less give away vanilla D2 copies is to clear room for inventory for a new SKU which includes all 3 expansions, same as they did for TTK and Rise of Iron. So it's partially a question of waiting for that package deal to go down in price vs paying for the new expansion at MSRP, or just not having all the content.

For $20, I'd probably get my money's worth...

Contemplating adding a Logitech G920 wheel to gaming mix. I’ve checked and it seems to support all the current games I want to use it with. Anyone have one and have any input to share?

So if t please the crowd, I’ve got two less than stellar games tugging at a $38 heartstring...

1) is there enough single player action-figure fun to justify $23 for MvC Infinite?

2) Star Wars Battlefront 2: same question but for $15.

I didn't have that wheel but I had a ThrustMaster TX with force feedback. I absolutely love racing games so I was super excited to get it but I found that after the novelty of the wheel wore off I was just too lazy to hook it up and opted for a controller instead 999 times out of 1000.

They're also hard as hell to sell when you're done using them. If you're confident you'll use it frequently and have a good setup for it than go for it. If you're only moderately interested I'm not sure it will hold your attention long term.

For $5 I’m definitely getting my money’s worth from the Best Buy offer. I can’t see wanting to go much deeper into this world, though.

1. No
2. Possibly. There’s the campaign which is a bit short and the arcade, which are essentially offline multiplayer matches with specific parameters

Whelp we got a real humdinger of a give away this week!

Thanks to echotech83 (who is celebrating his moms recovery! I'm very happy for you :) Drop him a kind word!) we have.......

HELLBLADE : SENUA's SACRIFICE!

As always like this post to be entered for your chance to win.

Thaks again echotech!

and remember a little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference :grouphug:
I like everything about this post.

Okay, gang, I have a couple digital movie codes I don't need.

The Dark Knight redeemable at wb.com

Jason Bourne redeemable at uphe.com

I believe they will both work with Movies Anywhere, but I could be wrong. Like this post to enter a random drawing for both codes and I'll pull the winner tonight around 9 p.m. eastern.

Still would like some classic 2d games, maybe getting Rogue Legacy or something else. Any good classic 2d games/sidescrollers worth checking out?
In addition to Rogue Legacy I would go with Rayman Legends, Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition, and/or Enter the Gungeon if you don't already own those. There are some other good ones on sale (Cuphead, Flinthook, Mercenary Kings) but the discounts aren't great.

The two arcade Contra games on 360 are also on sale ($2.50 a pop) and they're backward compatible. I prefer the NES ports myself.

Really enjoying my $4 copy of vanilla Destiny 2. Not sure what the hate was about, game plays great and it's fun and addicting to play. Don't really care about the DLC since I'm mostly just playing solo and getting more than my money's worth out of it.

The hate is not about the basic gameplay, it's from some of the people that put 100+ hours into Destiny 1 end game content. It's the end game that ppl are dissapointed with.

What are the odds that Killer Instinct DE goes GWG this year if I buy it during this sale?
Eh, just take the Nestea plunge. It's worth the what, ten dollars they're charging for it right now? Heck, I paid twenty at the start of the year. It was the primary motivation for my getting an Xbox One in the first place! It's a very competent fighting game that flows better than the first two arcade titles and looks great.

My only beef is that the characters are way too technical, with their fighting styles dependent on various gimmicks. For instance, there's a female robot that has three pieces, each with its own life bar, and a male robot with an overheat meter instead of a super meter. It's weird. If you're sick of shotos, you'll love it.

Also, good deal on Echotech's mother getting better, although I don't know the specifics. I know a guy whose mom had a stroke about a month ago... she's just starting to get on her feet again.

Rayman Origins is also on sale and BC, although Legends has a lot of levels from Origins in it. Both are fantastic games.

Wait, so the $2.49 contra isn’t an NES port? Thanks for saving me some money.

It's that cheesy arcade game with the better graphics but limited continues. Why someone thought "limited continues" made sense in a Contra game, and the arcade version at that, is anyone's guess.

Speaking of Konami games, it'd be neat if I could score a copy of Gyruss from this sale. I'm sure they cut the price at some point, although maybe not for this specific sale.

Yeah, D2 does have a pretty good first impression. If someone is planning to play through it like a traditional campaign, either solo or co-op, you'll likely have a good time. For $4 and the goal of getting the basic story done, you're fine.

If you continue to play it, with the infinite grind that is how the game is designed to be played, you run out of stuff to do MUCH faster than D1. While subjective, the general consensus is that PVP is not as fun as the first game. Some of the big stuff you replay often has trash rewards and little incentive to replay, like Raids and the Nightfall, and much of the moment to moment loot excitement sucked out by the terrible Token based system. If the game is truly addicting to you, there is a good chance you'll run into the complaints many of us had eventually.

The reason people are STILL bitching now is just how poorly Bungie has handled the franchise. They bungled with D1 for over a year before really getting on track with The Taken King. They then did virtually the same thing with D2, seemingly learning nothing from the experience, and so far have taken 9 or so months to NOT fix many major and minor complaints. This slow turnaround time is amplifying everything, making Bungie seem to be stuck in the past, with fixes coming at rates you'd expect 10 years ago. It just looks bad when compared to the regular updates and content additions many other live games have, and their direct competitor Warframe makes Destiny look like a joke.

By the way: Tomb Raider Legend is $2 on sale but I haven’t seen it on anyone’s lists. It’s not BC (yet; fingers crossed) but it’s easily my favorite of the modern Tomb Raider games and you’ll kick yourself for not grabbing it when it goes BC and costs $10.

I had a Thrustmaster with a PS3 and put many many hours into Gran Turismo. When the PS3 died and I switched back to MS, I was able to sell it back to Amazon for a minimal rental fee lol. Most of the games I play are racing so just trying to see if anyone had any impressions of this...ya know, $300 (with shifter) is almost like buying a new console.

As much as I’d love it at that price to get th disc off the shelf, I can’t help but think it’ll be GWG at some point, as Underworld and the reboot for 360 and the reboot on the X1 have been.

Great people all around in this thread.  People are civil and informative as well as very generous.  A true oasis in the shit storm that is the internet! :bouncy: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:        :)

I won’t like this post... because I already own Hellblade and don’t want to take a chance from someone else. But I do love this post and everyone involved.

Also, to add to the Destiny 2 conversation: for those who got it at $5 ish or for those considering the whole Year 1 deal at $20, you could certainly do a lot worse. I was one of the big naysayers early on, and I’m still not forgiving Bungie for a lot of their nonsense, but mechanics wise it’s still one of the best shooters. Been playing a little of Warmind lately (got the $99 version at launch so I figured I already paid for it, might as well), and it’s good so far, even solo. Solid action, ranking up my gear pretty well, etc. Anyway, it’s worth a play if you’ve got the time and money, but for anyone who got sucked in deep with D1 like I did, do not expect the same enjoyable endgame grind.

Regardless, $5 is a steal for a ton of quality gaming. Some people said not to even jump in at that price, but I'm glad I didn't listen. Even if I get fed up, I've already sank days into it and enjoyed it. Maybe not worth it at full price but for $5 vanilla or $20 with DLC, more than worth it and I'd recommend it to anyone. I almost didn't jump in at $5 because of these sort of comments.

I don't know why but Halo 5 is taking forever to install. I forget if it was a day or two ago that I started it but it will randomly give me the "installation stopped" notice, it's still only at 44%. I've installed 6 other games since starting this install, including gears 4 which is almost 20gb larger than halo.

I think I did pretty good on my purchases.

I had credit that I got at kroger for 16% off  ($50 cards for $42 cash deals)

Plus EB was giving 15% cashback yesterday. Almost missed it.  Did anyone post that?

So I got $129 (including tax) worth of stuff for $94 (true out of pocket) out of pocket plus I got about 10000 microsoft points  so when the credit goes on sale again I should be able to turn the points that back into $13 in credit so my total true total will be $81

The best deal I got was The Walking Dead Final Season + Walking Dead Complete for $15 (Total Out of Pocket) with 1599 Microsoft points

and Destiny 2 - Game + Expansion Pass Bundle 14.87 (Total Out of Pocket) with 1584 Microsoft Points

I also sold my best buy Destiny 2 today for $11.75. So including that I really came out a winner on the Destiny 2 digital around $10 total.

Kinda bummed that forza 7 or injustice 2 legendary isn't any cheaper for the "ultimate sale" I will continue to wait.
Rise of the tomb raider is looking pretty good.

I'm gonna let echo's give away run until Tuesday. So good luck to anyone who enters.

But I did want to take a minute to thank everyone who makes this thread a community. It takes a lot of different view points to make this a thing, including the highs (mrcluth, Bloomy, etc) , and the lows (praxus :p) and I personally love reading all of the posts (except bloomys post about lego Voltron, I AIN'T GOT NO MONEY TOY TEASE! ). Let's keep gaming and be positive :)

You are not wrong, sir. If it weren’t for the incidental costs this would be my favorite site on the Internet. Very supportive group. Almost...enabling.

Do not buy Mighty #9. At any price. I was a fool, but let my sacrifice not be in vain. It’s nigh unplayable and you’d be better served converting your money into change and swallowing it whole.
