Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

If anyone is looking for easy achievements, Fighting Vipers is on sale for $1.24. This is a Sega Saturn-era fighting game created by the team that made Virtua Fighter. You get achievements for finishing each stage, for breaking your opponent's armor, for breaking a wall - both of these are really easy to do - for selecting a random character, for going into options, and other really easy stuff. I'm pretty sure none of them require playing online.
Grabbed that and Virtua Fighter 2, as they both have similar achievements. Already have 200 points towards the 250 needed for the Badlands gate for Rewards.

I know I'm a bit late to the party but hearing that Chvrches is in FH3 music might make me pull it out of the backlog sooner. I'm a fan of their music, got into them after hearing Purity Ring and they got me exploring similar music.

TCL Series 6 owner sending out a disitress call to other owners:

Something happened with my Series 6/Xbox One X combo recently and now I don't get HDR in the games I've tested out (Destiny 2, Halo :TMCC, FH3, GoW5).  I also noticed that the 4K Details page in Settings also shows two items not checked off:

  • Your TV doesn't support 4K at 50Hz.  You won't be able to watch content at 4K 50Hz.  (this was not checked off before)
  • Your TV supports an older version of Dolby Vision that isn't compatible with Xbox One.  (this one is new to me)

If you can check your settings and compare them to mine, I'll be that much farther into troubleshooting this issue.  TIA.

EDIT:

I forgot to mention I have HDMI mode for that Input on the TV set to 2.0 and not 1.4 or Auto and that previously resulted in HDR working fine.

Hey I'm not sure if this is related or not but last night my TCL 5 series wouldn't kick into HDR mode on my PC. So I went into the Roku menu and rebooted the TV. HDR worked fine after that. I'm not sure if it was a bug or update. Good luck!

I'm not sure where to ask this but my turtlebeach xo seven pro headset slightly broke, I bought it from best buy last year with a protection plan that covers it til next july. Now the question is can or will they replace it with a newer headset now that the xo seven pro is discontinued? I couldn't find any info on replacing discontinued items.

As simple as that was, I hadn't tried it yet and that appears to have fixed the issue. Thanks for the suggestion!

They should give you a gift card with the amount the headset cost on it, so you can spend it on whatever pair you like.

Awesome, glad to hear its back! I really wanted to get the 6 series but I just needed a 43in for the computer room. The HDR on my 5 series isn't so great compared to by Sony, not surprising for a 350 dollar TV lol.

Ms rewards support finally wrote me back 22 days later to tell me wild kingdom should be fixed lol.

I wrote them back asking for my 500 and 1000 points I didn’t receive I bet they’ll ask for screenshots of the completion but wild kingdom is gone now.

My funky display issue needed me to check the (I think) 4:2:2 box.

I guess I am the only one who really doesn't like the stations in FH4? I actually enjoyed them in FH3. I turned off the radio the other day actually.
It becomes an issue if you plan on sticking around to put a lot of time in to the game. Then the stations get repetitive. It was nice when Groove was integrated in FH3. Sure, there's the background music option on XB1 ... but it was so much easier when it was a D-pad to the left and that was it.

Anyone have a 48 hour code they wouldn't mind sharing? Need to blow out some rewards points on my son's account. The Gold offers don't apply to the other accounts on your Xbox, which sucks.

Finally got the Gamepass punch card for 3000 points to appear.

Quickly got an achievement in Inner Space and Steredenn so just waiting for that to catch up.

Also, after several days of Rewards updating pretty well I am just sitting on 14/15 for the moon gate even though I have been on at least once every day for like 3 weeks straight. Hopefully that kicks over sometime soon and I can tackle the next one.

Trying to get up to 3 months of Live or maybe even push for the year sub. While frustrating that things don’t always update on time you gotta admit it is nice being able to earn free stuff like this for what amounts to inconsequential activities for us.

I got an achievement in Halo MCC and then one in Late Shift on Sunday, October 7. Still waiting for the progress to register.

So far this month I've only gotten achievements in Forza Horizon 4 and ABZU... neither of those is listed as counting for the 2nd punch (play one of these select games) yet that punch says it's complete, and the "earn an achievement from any other Game Pass Game" one doesn't show complete yet. :/

Man- work has been crazy; only managed to sneak in 30 mins - 1 hour a day to game these days. And that's never enough time to remember what I'm supposed to be doing in 'Witcher 3'.

After the holiday season ends (Jan) I should be able to play with everyone. Forza Horizon 4 sounds like a blast

So I have FH4 installed from Gamepass, but I bought FH3 with all the DLC back when it came out and I've still barely made much progress (I think I only have around 300,000 fans and haven't unlocked the third Horizon expansion yet). Is FH4 so life-altering that I should call FH3 a loss and forget it ever exists, or is it worth finishing FH3 first? I own Blizzard Mountain and the Hot Wheels expansions and never touched them; was gonna try to knock out the main game first and I've just been chipping away at it too slowly to keep up with releases I guess.

Same situation with FH2, actually. I never got to finish that either. It was in my backlog until FH3 came out.

Played some Moonlighter last night and I think this one has got me hooked.

The starting equipment is pretty bad but once you get enough money to buy other weapons the game really feels better.

I love the aspect of the shop and selling materials and figuring out what is a good price to sell.

I finished the first dungeon and built up the town and upgraded my shop once.

I'm glad I picked it up.

I really want to dive into this game trying to finish off Valkyria Chronicles 4 but I keep looking at it and you aren't helping lol gotta love a big back log.

I would play/finish FH3. I liked that one a lot. Not sure if I like FH4 as much or not yet. Both are solid and fun though.

I think I like Australia better then the UK. The music for sure. I haven't fell in love with any car so far in FH4. At this point I would probably skip FH2 though.

I just found out that there is an Android version of Moonlighter that can only be purchased on itch.io with the PC version. I'm more likely to play it on Android, but I plan to buy it there once the price goes down. Thanks for the review.

As far as Horizon 3, at the very least I would get in far enough to access both expansion packs. Even though Blizzard Mountain might lose some of it's luster due to Horizon 4 having a winter season, it's really not as drastic as it is in that expansion. The Hot Wheels expansion is a different beast entirely and there is nothing else quite like it in any of the games.

Thanks to those who mentioned Purity Ring. For some reason hadn’t heard them but nice companion to Chvrches.
🙂

Did you end up moving, to cut down on the commute?

For those that like your female vocalists a little more rock than pop but with still plenty of electronic elements you just need to listen to St. Vincent and call it a day.

I like St. Vincent. Chvrches is still my overall favorite in terms of female vocalists with an electronic bent. But I like all kinds of alt — not just electronic.

I think I like 3 more than 4. 4 just makes things more complicated for the hell of it because they didn't really know how to improve on 3.

With Game sharing, are there any exceptions, or can every game and app be shared? I'm wondering because I got an invite for the Fallout 76 Stress Test that starts Saturday, but my girlfriend did not. It would be great if she could still play it since we Game share. We will certainly try, but it would be nice to know beforehand.

Wonder if you got knocked by the update that's rolling out https://majornelson.com/2018/10/11/october-2018-xbox-update-rolling-out-today/

edit: see above

This has to be the most hipster thread on the Internet

*puts on skinny jeans and rides my 10 speed bike down to the local brewery and drink some PBR*
You forgot the flannel and shouldn't it be a locally brewed ipa?
Oh and the bike needs to be a fixed gear bike or "fixie"
Does that sound about right?

New Twitch Prime bundle for Warframe coming on the 16th. It sounds like the daggers kind of suck but I've been using normal Vectis for a while and love it. Even if you already have them, it's two free weapon slots and a exlusive cosmetic. Kind of a step down not having a free Prime character, but free is free.

This is nice. I'm hooked on this game after starting it about a week ago, maybe longer. The game is so fun that grinding doesn't feel like grinding (yet). I'll gladly take these two weapons as I'm still new enough to not have variety in my weapons. Wish it wasn't so addicting. Thanks for sharing.

You might be good on that, I've found the only things I can't get with my game share partner are in game stuff like a Pubg or Fortnite "battle pass" which makes sense since it's tied into a different account than regular Xbox proflie. I just did the CoD Blackout beta a couple weeks ago fine with my game share partner and I was the one that sourced the code.
