Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

For those who have game pass, does the rise of the tomb raider include the extra content or just the base game?
I was going to buy the 20th anniversary pack for $12 and then later get the game pass one month for $1..... but if it's all included in the pass, I will hold off buying the game.

After seeing alot of people here talk about MS rewards, I decieded to dabble in it this week, doing polls, quizzes, visiting pages..etc. I see where you log into the rewards on consecutive days you get bonus points. Ive been logging in for 4 days straight, go in this morning and they tell me I missed a day so I've been reset. Im like wtf. Seems too much of a hassle to gather that many points to redeem for XBL or giftcards.
If you don't mind using bing, you can just switch to that and do searches as you normally would. Once a month or so you'll be able to grab $5-$10 free depending on how much searching you do.

I'm going with the following, which are all paid for with Bing points minus a couple dollars.

Disney Afternoon Collection

Unravel 2

Fear Effect John Cena

Mafia 3 Dexlue Edition

Ori

Battleship

Zombie Army Trilogy

Yooka Laylee

Rock of Ages 2

Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition

I have 2 Bing accounts and seriously, it takes about 3 minutes each for me to do all my searches for both of them.  I do them at work like another member said so it's not an issue.  I've seen worse uses of people's time and all those above games was only about 2 months worth of searches combined with the discount on $5 giftcards.  Not to mention the free gold I use them for every year.

2 questions

1. Are the Plants Vs. Zombies console games multiplayer only or is there any single player or bots stuff to make it worth a purchase, not a big multiplayer fan.

2.  Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition is listed for $10 on the homepage, is that the best version, and if not, is there a lot of content I would have to buy seperately?  Is it better to wait on the other version?

Thanks in advance.

Got Burnout Remasted and Cuphead with my free email money. Also picked up Little Nightmares. Now I read a couple posts above that LN runs better on PS4 Pro and I’m a little bummed I picked it up on Xbox. I have both an X and a Pro. Hopefully an X enhancement comes along before I get around to playing it
I did misquote Little Nightmares as 1800p, it's actually 1620p. But yeah, I've become a little obsessed with owning the best version of a game between consoles. I was making a list of games that are still better on PS4 Pro because they haven't received Xbox One X enhancements. So far it's:

Assassin's Creed Syndicate (1620p on PS4)

Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection (2160p on PS4)

Batman Return to Arkham (Even with the X patch it's still slightly better on PS4)

Call of Duty Black Ops III (Checker 4k on PS4)

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered (1620p on PS4)

Dark Souls 3 (? slight increase in framerate)

Deus Ex Mankind (Checker 4k on PS4)

Little Nightmares (1620p on PS4)

Metal Gear V Phantom Pain (1800p? on PS4)

Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor (4k on PS4)

Sniper Elite 4 (draw distance, geometric detail, lighting, shadows, reflections, improved performance)

South Park: The Fractured But Whole (?)

Watch Dogs 2 (?)

However, this is only Pro enhanced games, there are games that were not patched for either system that run better on PS4. For example Batman Arkham Knight is 1080p on both PS4s and 900p on both Xbox Ones

1. Are the Plants Vs. Zombies console games multiplayer only or is there any single player or bots stuff to make it worth a purchase, not a big multiplayer
I can speak for the second game that yes, there is an a.i. with bots for good portions of the game. I don't remember if there is a multiplayer-only mode (been a while since I last played) but you can absolutely play it solo and still get enjoyment out of it. There is not really a campaign though, just as a heads up

yea thank you. I switched to Bing from Google the other day after seeing you can get 150 points daily from searching

Thanks in advance.
No. The “ultimate” edition does not contain the Awakening expansion. You’ll need to get the “complete” edition to get everything.

I guess if you consider it a hassle...
I have gotten my last 3 years of XBL paid for by bing and on this most recent discount I think I got $145 cashed out between discounted Xbox credit and emails.
Bing bought me...
Assassins Creed Odyssey
Steep
Middle Earth Shadow of War Definitive
SSX 3
Battle Chasers Nightwar
And that’s just from this sale, I bought 9 other games during Black Friday sale with bing credits.
IMO Bing is the best loyalty program any gaming company has to offer. I hope it never goes away. Just a few button clicks per day and so much free gaming.
That's an impressive haul. Now how long did it take you to acquire all that? At least a year, I reckon. If you didn't mind spending the time to accumulate those points, that's great, but you're either spending time or money to get XBL Gold - and time is much more valuable to me personally. You can always make more money, but how do you make more time?

Back when GS flips were still a thing, you'd only need to spend 5 minutes per weekend to learn what games were valued highly enough that they paid you more to trade them in than it cost you to buy them from them in the first place. Now, the time it takes to travel from one store to another to accumulate thousands in GS credit really was well-spent. Those days are mostly gone, but even now, occasionally they'll pay you more for something than you paid them. You just have to anticipate what would be popular or niche enough to trade for high value, so in that sense, it's kind of like picking stocks.

As for something you can do just from your computer, there are smarter ways too, as long as you don't mind not having year-long coverage. The $1 months happen at least 4 times a year: Thanksgiving is one time, Christmas is another. So that's almost half a year covered already just for waiting for the right times to come like clockwork. To cover the rest of the months, you use a cashback site. There's one site that gives you $2 when you sign up for 1 month of Gold, $5 for 3 months, and $10 for a year. And guess what? The sales for XBL Gold are much more frequent than the $1 months. The sale prices from Microsoft directly are 3 months for $9.99 or a year for $39.99. So after the cashback, that's 3 mo./$5 or 12 mo./$30. So you can pay $30 for a year of Gold outright if you don't feel like waiting for more opportune sales, or use Bing everyday until you get tired of it. I just do the $1 months and 3 mo./$5, and I miss maybe 3 months in a year when I don't have Gold.

About 3 months for the $145, they had the double points month and the Battlefield bonus plus quests etc. It takes less time to get my daily points then it does to read your full post. If my time was worth so much I wouldn’t be reading these forums or playing video games or watching Infinity War right now.

The Battlefield punch card only worked because CDkeys sold a month of EA Access for ~$2. The double points month only happens twice a year. It would normally take you over a year to acquire that haul, though maybe you have more than one account.

Sign up for 4.99 EA then cancel, I have 2, one for me and one for my wife. 3 years ago I had 5 accounts but they got banned so now I just maintain the 2 to not risk it. Your correct many things were luck this year like emails with gift cards too, but it seems like random extra stuff happens often.

It’s not consecutive days logging in,
Actually...[attachment=31546:msrewards.png]

Multiple threads on people saying their daily streaks glitched and have to start from scratch online. But do my op to start anything with anyone. If people love MS rewards cool, if people dislike MS rewards cool. I said what I said and Im going to keep it moving. Merry Christmas and happy holidays

My streak is still good, but honestly they are basically worthless. I wouldn't sweat it if you dropped one. You also get points back on purchases and if your high enough star rank that can be quite lucrative. That's supposedly changing after the new year so I'll see how it plays out.

That said people spending time posting about other people's time spent on MS Rewards is easily the dumbest thing in this thread, and that's  saying something.

I find it weird that Dragon Ball Xenoverse has the game and season pass on sale but for Xenoverse 2, it's only the base game. Every other time the game has been on sale, the deluxe version with the pass has as well. I was banking for the game and pass. Now I'm at a loss
I'm in the same boat. I recently got back into the game and was looking forward to picking up the DLC on sale, but alas it's not on sale. Oh well, I think I'm only missing out on some outfits and more characters with spiky hair.

Curse you M$! I picked up the Capcom Collection DLC the last time it was on sale, but the base game still hasn't been on sale since. You got me good, Major Dickface.

The daily set that is the basis of streak appears to update at midnight for your local time, though it doesn't seem to count unless you do it later in the day. I've had a few streaks broken because I did the set shortly after midnight. The daily search counter seems to reset sometime between 3am and 4am Eastern (or around midnight Pacific, when MS HQ's day flips), maybe that's when it's safe to do the daily set.

The streak bonus is simply 15 points x the number of days in the streak. You start out working toward a 3 day streak for 45 points, capping at 10 day streaks for 150 points. There are no extra bonuses for a longer streak, just some badges that seem to be applying one of the useless things from XBL Rewards that also don't account for anything in MS Rewards. So if your streak is broken, you're not out of a lot of points.

The program has a number of issues, particularly with poor / inconsistent stat tracking, but overall it's a decent payoff for little effort.

Microsoft rewards is easy money. I spend a couple minutes a day doing the activities which are often kind of fun. That's totally fine if it's not for you but don't knock it.

That said people spending time posting about other people's time spent on MS Rewards is easily the dumbest thing in this thread, and that's saying something.
Exactly. This is cheapassgamer after all, anything to get it for as little as possible. How you go about it varies and no one way works for everyone

I call bullshit that in 3 months you accumulated enough points to cash out and get $145.UNLESS you had 2-4 accounts doing the same then yes that would be possible but a single account nah that would be complete bullshit.

Man, how long did it take you to type all that?

2 accounts, mine and my wife has one

$5 was from an email so then $140/2= $70 per account
70/5= 14 $5 cards which is 3,500 points x 14 = 49,000 points

Double points in Oct =
500 per day + 50 from daily bonus = 17,050
Sept = 9,000 (250 per day + 50 daily)
Nov = 9,000
150 every ten days = 450 per month X 3= 1,350
Battlefield bonus = 6,000 and 500 for an achievement = 6,500

We’re at 42,900, then you factor in emails with 50 pts each about once a week and % back on purchases from the first gift card purchases and the quests on the Xbox app for 5-10 pts that refresh every couple days and maybe it’s slightly more then 3 months? So yes, 2 accounts but with all the extras lately it was about 3 months.

I just started doing my bing rewards stuff again 2 months ago and Ive managed to get 38k points off of purchases and doing daily stuff.  Its not that hard to earn points im just saying.  That being said I bought a year of xbox live for 24k points worth it in my books,

The DLC for Asura's Wrath is required if you want the whole story, correct? It's currently on sale and think I'll pick it up if it's necessary to get the true ending.

Just finished the 12 days challenge on TA
I forget who said it, but you can really clean up the 12th challenge in killer instinct, I got 7 or 8 in less than 30mins
So whomever you are just remember, you the real MVP

Yup lost my streak, no idea what happened. Interesting others had the same issue.

Multiple threads on people saying their daily streaks glitched and have to start from scratch online. But do my op to start anything with anyone. If people love MS rewards cool, if people dislike MS rewards cool. I said what I said and Im going to keep it moving. Merry Christmas and happy holidays

There are multiple badges for the Daily streaks. The last 2 for getting 365 days and 999 days streak are tough to earn in my opinion. I am close to earning the 365 day one. Like you said, I have no idea what these badges are for other than trying to earn them all like achievements I guess?

I kind of like the silly ones they have for points earned. The DOS Boss one for earning 8088 points made me smile.

There are some good deals going on but I have most of what I’ve wanted. I’d like The Bioshock collection but i already have the 360versions. Is the dlc worth buying them again? Any cheap suggestions?

thanks. I’m really just hoping to find a $39 black or white
You're best off setting a deal alert on slickdeals as $40 controllers pop up just about every month. If you need it now, the controller + cable is probably the best deal at $48 from Best Buy and Walmart. eBay is another option depending on your comfort level.

Are newer controllers better at keeping usb cords plugged in and not disconnecting if the wire gets slightly shifted to the side?
