Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What if the real thing they're working on is full 360 Emulation for Scarlet? Just pop in your disc or have any download ready to play? I know, probably not, but what if?

Enchanted Arms is going to be a great Games for Gold in the coming months.

I'd guess Xbox Live on 360 has about a year left? Sony and Nintendo already shut down support for everything before the Switch and PS4.
I had a similar thought. We now know the pool of potential GwG 360 games. There are plenty that they haven't given away yet, but I can't see that part of the program continuing once Scarlett is out. We're weirdos here that might still play 2-3 Gen old games but they're ignored by the general public.

That's not going to happen, emulating a processor with an entirely different architecture is incredibly difficult and resource-intensive, even for Scarlett-level hardware. The reason you have to download every BC game is that they are recompiled to run properly one Xbox One hardware. People forget that Xbox 360 BC is an impressive technical achievement.

The 3DS and Wii U eShops are still up, and you can still buy PS3, PSVita, and PSP games on PSN. Not many good sales though.
They seem to have built the X1 store separate so that the legacy stuff could remain online, and BC has probably made sure that service and content stays online. NIntendo is the worst offender, but Sony doesn't have a great track record either (PSP offline, no more major sales on PS3 and Vita content since taking them off of PS Plus). Philosophically, MS seems to be trying to avoid that. Hell, they just ADDED some OG games.

I would have loved to hear the late great Bob Marley sing "No 4K, No Buy."
Said I remember, when we used to sit, in the clearance aisle at Best Buy.

Awaiting news from E3

In this bright HDR future, you can forget HD

So give your blurays to me.

No 4k, no buy...

Nice, how long were the GamePass and Gold they gave y’all this year, one years worth?

Went to Xbox FanFest @ E3 yesterday and today. Tonight I got to meet Rod Ferguson and team as well as 343 team and Phil Spencer. Got them to sign my Pops. (Phil is in Red on Master Chief). All very cool people!

If I was MS I'd attempt to keep the 360 GwG going until Scarlett, then they can replace the 360 games with Scarlett games.
Looking st how meekly gamers accepted Sony's stance, I think MS will simply end the GwG for 360, soon if not right away. There's more for XB to lose than PS, agreed but at this point having more free games for their service is not really the USP for MS. It has not affected the sales and its probably not going to anymore, this gen.

I don’t think 360 GWG will go away anytime soon. Still plenty of games they could give us. Probably more than enough to take us to Scarlett which would be a good place to switch to Scarlett/X1 for the four.

Since I have access to Life is Strange: Before the Storm via GPU, can I just pay $3 for the Deluxe upgrade to get the bonus episode?

We got a year of Gamepass Ultimate (GamePass + Gold) a back pack full of goodies and a RIG 800XL headset. Was a blast!

That is one upside of no more new bc titles. They now have a smaller pool to make gwg so depending on how long they keep 360 gwg we could have a good amount of the library free of charge.

So maybe Ni No Kuni isn't coming to XB1 after all? This is the wording on a new Facebook post from them this morning:

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is coming to Nintendo Switch and remastered on PS4 & PC on 09.20.19. LEVEL-5’s classic is Remastered and also on-the-go! Follow Oliver’s journey as he embarks into a world inhabited by familiars and foes in the hopes of bringing back his mom.

Assholes!

It's already been stated that BC was meant to be a feature and function of the platform at launch, but the backlash over the OS and digital licensing forced them to direct all their resources into removing that stuff before launch. This why the 360 games on Rare Replay worked, it was tech that was already on the way, but they shelved it to put other fires out. They also had to work out the business side of things since they can't make any games BC without publisher permission. What's surprising is they waited to announce it until it (the BC program) was actually ready.

The goodwill for consumers that I see is that they could very easily charge $1 to activate/upgrade disc copies of games and people would probably pay it. The fact they have (had?) a dedicated team working on BC games and tweaking them without any additional compensation is incredibly consumer friendly.
BC was supposed to be featured at launch? I could've sworn at the Xbox One announcement they said you can play your 360 games as long as your 360 works, otherwise they are gone

i thought they added BC as a way to get back in the good graces of gamers after the whole TV, Kinect, DRM, always online Don Mattrick debacle

That snide comment was in relation to the 'always online' that was planned for X1, when the idiot PR guy (may have been Matrick) said, "We already have a product that works offline, it's called 360."

TBH though offline mode is a joke.

Now THAT was a mic drop.

I think Nintendo just won E3.
No might about it. I was all set to get a Scarlett next year. Now, I think I'd rather get a new Switch and a load of those games. No lie. And the Breath of the Wild sequel announcement? Wow.

I See people post this on the regular and still wish someone would tell me what gamers should do to not be looked at as meekly.

Still torn on getting a switch. Was hoping for a revision announcement. Hesitant to buy a console if they release an updated version. Plus not super interested in all the ports but the new stuff looks decent.

After some consideration, I legitimately think Nintendo and Microsoft co-won this E3. Nintendo had the best lineup of games by far and had the gigantic mic drop at the end with the news of a Breath of the Wild sequel. However, all of the buzz surround Xbox because of GamePass, Scarlett, Keanu Reeves (never thought I'd ever see something like that...), and now Banjo-Kazooie being added to Smash. Phil is literally getting tons of thank yous from fans for allowing Banjo-Kazooie to be part of Smash right now on Twitter. Not to mention that any Microsoft Studios game that sells on Switch is still coin in their pocket and helps with the recognition of the brand. The Xbox call for inclusivity was evident in both Sunday's show and (at least in a small part) in Nintendo's E3 Direct.

Honestly, I think Sony may really regret not showing SOMETHING at E3 this year. Everyone is talking about Microsoft and Nintendo right now... Not many are talking about Sony.

BTW, I'm looking at this from a marketing perspective, not a fanboy need to justify my preferred brand, lol

True, but Square-Enix was basically a PS4 commercial with FF7, even though it's all but certainly a timed exclusive.

I'm still most interested in what Xbox is up to, but Nintendo had a great showing. Their momentum is only picking up.

Accept it with indignation? Dont ask me, I am one of the meek ones. I did stop my subscription for PS+ hoping to hear from Sony's CEO but the fucker didnt care. Oh well...

Switch is awesome and Nintendo has the best first party games IMO. Nintendo stated they weren't announcing any new hardware at E3 weeks ago. I can't see them revealing one anytime this year. I would think that next year, when Sony and M$ have their new consoles coming and being talked about, Nintendo will show off a revision or a more powerful Switch. It's up to you if you want to wait that long or not. I've seen good deals on used Switch bundles if you don't want to buy brand new. Even then, I've seen brand new bundles for as low as $250 at certain times during the year. As a Switch owner myself, I'd say get it now and enjoy amazing experiences like Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, MK8 Deluxe, Smash Bros and lots more. Nintendo stuff holds it's value so even if they do come out with some new Switch next year, you can always sell the "older" Switch no problem.
