Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Yeah. Dude saw me looking at some clearance merch and said things like, "Hey sweeteheart, just wanna make sure you know those are 30% off" or some shit. I pretended not to hear him and he did it again with something similarly obnoxious. I'm sure he speaks to his male customers that way, right?

Other than that, GS employees have always been notoriously uninformed, whether it comes to new systems or releases (had one guy try to convince me in early 2018 the PS5 had already been announced) or their own sales. That or they're bored and hate their jobs and are just fucking with people. Honestly, that would make it all okay.
The female employees at many places call me sweetie

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered, but where are these found? Is it on the console only, because I'm not seeing them in the game pass app.
As Bardockkun stated, but it did show up on the App a few weeks ago. The only thing I currently see on the App are the quests I've completed.

What is this week's featured game?

And noob question: what are daily sets? Whenever I click on that button/tile in the console app, it tries to load up the browser. I do not use Edge and do not have it configured so I always immediately quit out whenever I see the Edge logo. Are the daily sets things that you have to do online and not something gaming/console related?
I think the featured game was Rage 2.

The daily set consists of the Quiz, Poll, and I don't know what to call the third, but it's usually just a link to an article. I complete this on my laptop.

LOL. Figured I would win since Dranakin sent me his extra one earlier. So in the spirit of continuing to pay things forward...
Like this post for a chance to win a copy of Rainbow Six Siege courtesy of gamegirlpocket and Dranakin!
I’ll let this go overnight and draw a winner in the morning.
I’d love the code, always wanted to play this but never wanted to pay to test it out. Alas, AWP thinks I’m an asshole so...anyway, nice job giveaway people!

I’ve honestly never had a problem at any of my local GameStop’s. But I rarely buy games there because of GCU, mostly just get Pops. I have done a fair share of trading in there during their big promos. Last time was a couple years ago when I basically traded in a bunch of “classic” games and walked out with a new PSVR. Hard to complain about that. I guess I’m lucky that the managers and employees have all been pretty cool.

When I lived in Georgia I got called pet names by women employees at MANY businesses, still happens in Nevada but not as often as the south.

It only got awkward when I tried to meet them in the bathroom later and they said it was just something they do and they weren’t hitting on me. Who knew?

Have you tried World War Z? I only played for an hour or two after I picked it up during the E3 sale but enjoyed it and made me reminisce about left 4 dead.
Yeah, it was kind of jank when I was playing so I'll probably get back to it once some time has passed. I know they added a new level or something recently. Really, Vermintide scratched the itch better for me, but even on the lowest setting it's much harder with randoms than most of the modes in L4D.

Having worked briefly at Gamestop and long term at TRU, I can tell you any actual training on new games is woefully inadequate. Last I knew Gamestop does have some material to go over, but it's just basic information on what type of game something is or basic features of hardware. TRU was a joke, with maybe two "training videos" a month for electronics with were usually just months old trailers. Skylanders and Lego Dimensions did have actually informative videos that were useful a couple times.

Any time you've happened across an employee at retail that actually knew a lot about games, it's pretty much only because they are invested personally into gaming. This works both ways though, hence your 2018 PS5 misinformation. I think the only people at Gamestop that get a lot of info on at least the big games is the store manager.

I don't know about the sweetheart thing. Seems pretty dumb, he's practically asking to piss someone off eventually. It's best to be pretty neutral with pretty much everyone. Even with regulars I tend to stay like that unless they start getting more friendly or whatever.

I'm sure if you calculate the time, gas, etc wasted on flipping crap back and forth between GameStop it's nowhere as much as you think. Opportunity Cost. I have a good job that allows me to not have to go to GameStop. You do you. If you love it there great but don't try to excuse the garbage things they do because it benefits you.
Yowza. Not taking issue with a business, and utilizing them to subsidize your hobby makes you a poor. Who knew?

I’m sure I’m about the only guy that cares but....it’s a crying shame the Tennis World Tour is $36 on Xbox but on sale for $17.99 in PSN.

I take a few days off from reading the thread and all the prickly pears come out...

I redeemed the code. Thank you Bstringbean.
I haven't seen this movie.
Watch the movie and then watch this video, but ONLY in this order --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMplqyc59d8

Hard to complain about that. I guess I’m lucky that the managers and employees have all been pretty cool.
Ditto, sort of. I have a great relationship with the handful of stores closest to me, but those that I don't frequent that much tend to be hit or miss (especially on returns).

Don't put words into my mouth. That's not what I said or implied. Nice try though but take your strawman home with you.
Curious what you meant by this then:

"I have a good job that allows me to not have to go to GameStop. You do you."

I have a decent job too, but I try to keep my gaming and hobby purchases out of my main budget and within its own budget, and the (previously) awesome deals to be had at GameStop made that a reality. Unfortunately I'm starting to run out of fun money...

No idea where the animosity for whitereflection is coming from. He's just explaining the process, not defending it.

I've seen a couple reports that Samuari Shodown's season pass is going to be free for everyone for the first few days, instead of only people that buy the game in that time period. It's free on PSN but not up yet on Xbox, so it could be a price mistake. SNK hasn't said anything as far as I've heard.

I have had many bad run-ins with GameStop in the past. Saying sexist things about my wife/to my wife while I'm standing right there, a female clerk trying to upsell by flirting with me with my wife directly next to me, managers trying to give me partial trade value for things in pristine condition, trying to sell me games with blatantly false information, refusing to take no for an answer when it comes to a membership or pre-order, trying to "gamer shame" me into pre-ordering certain titles, etc.

I used them as a necessary evil in the past because I have had bad luck selling things online so I would just take the hit on trade credit. Now, I'm done with them. The last purchase I made from them is Batman: Arkham Origins since it is the only BC title that I want that isn't available digitally. Everything else in my collection (other than Rock Band 4) is digital and will be here from here on out. I have met a handful of really good GameStop employees over the years but I always feel like I need to take a shower after I go in one now. Just makes me feel slimy.

I don't like gamestop much either, but occasionally I will go there for a deal (Free XBox 360) or I will sometimes go there while I wait for the wife to shop just to browse. Last time I did this was during E3 week and there were several gamestop employees in the store and no one was really shopping there. They were talking smack about how they ignored a complaining customer over the phone and laughing about it while I was there looking at 360 games. I guess I don't look like someone who works for Gamestop or they did not care that I could hear their conversation.  I was kind of surprised there were so many employees in the store. Usually it is just one person in the middle of the day.

Without people trading in new games that they can resell Gamestop will not make enough money to keep going on much longer.  Oh well. They had their time of raking in huge money on reselling trade ins.

It's listed in the store under the "description" portion as "free pre-order bonus" with purchases up until June 30th. I'm honestly surprised myself it's a $59.99 product. (edit the game $59.99 not the season pass) So yeah I'm thinking might be a mistake. Oh BTW Microsoft store links seem to be all messed up for me formatting wise on my actual Xbox One X console and on the web site, so some issues might be going on.

It's a shame that so many people have had horrible experiences with Gamestop; the one near me actually seems pretty good.  But I admit I rarely go there; I think the last couple of times were for the free X360 console on Black Friday and the awesome X1X/RDR2 trade-in deal.  So maybe I've just been lucky.

I LOVE Gamestop.  Just picked up 6 statues for $10 a pop that my wife will be upset about since we're packing everything for a move :)

It's funny seeing the "cute" girls that work there use their charm to take advantage of the male customers, though.

Once knew a guy named Cornelius that was great at basketball.  Everyone just called him Corn.  Cool guy.

I don’t go to gamestop, ever. The whole feel of corporate and crap ruins gaming for me. I stick to online or Best Buy and local retro gaming shops where the gaming population is restored to its glory of dorkdom.

Everytime I see a copy of Assassin's Creed the movie whether it be on a digital store front or in a store I'm always shocked that, that was a real movie that came out in theaters and not just a weird fevered dream I had.

Also did any of us ever mention Netflix is adapting The Division into a movie starring Jake Gyllenhall?

I don't really care about Gamestop one way or another. I never have a situation that comes up where I buy games that way anymore with Console sharing, and just the amount of Games with Gold and Game Pass titles, and the literal 1000's of pennies I can get daily from MS Rewards.

Rest assured though if Gamestop lives long enough, them and BestBuy and whomever else with have a console bundle "deal" for you Christmas 2020 if you didn't pre-order before hand. Granted it will be a few hundred more than the console and full of stuff you don't want, but you'll probably also get Just Dance 2022 out of it. Christmas will be saved.

Never heard that, seems like something that would have been better as a "series" same way Assassin's Creed would have probably been...

Were there just no sales this week?

NVM: I found them, just never saw CAG or Wario64 post them on Twitter

I miss the days they'd use their "charms" to get a pre-order with an added "honey" and so on. she was right though Mortal Kombat Vs Dc Universe was pretty cool. It was fun going there until they got into the business of constantly trying to sell you something.

I've got to admit Gamestop did come through for me with Bloodstained. No where else in my town had it, though a co-worker went in a couple days after and they were out at that point.

Not only do I hate Gamestop for their shady business practices, but every single Gamestop I've ever been to has had the most terrible employees. It's almost like they go out of their way to hire people that are equally as awful as their company. I for one can't wait until they're finally gone for good.

I agree on the shady part...

Yesterday I went to gamestop to get Darksiders 3 new.

I asked the cashier that I wanted a brand new sealed copy and she hands me a game opened just with a round tape on the border of the case and tells me. this is sealed.

I had to repeat her twice that I wanted a completely sealed copy and finally she goes to the drawer and hands me a factory sealed copy.

every single time I go to a gamestop this happens.

I’m not trying to be a dick, so I hope it doesn’t sound like that, but I’m honestly curious. If this happens every time, why would you continue going there? Why not go someplace that you know the game is going to be sealed when you buy a new copy? Best Buy takes trade ins, Walmart did until recently, Target sells new games, etc. Why go through the hassle of needing to specify that you don’t want a “new” copy but an actual NEW copy?

And what's more, the movie's story is canon to the games. Sofia Rikkin is mentioned in AC Origins and everything.

Don't know how I feel about this...

Yeah for some reason, when I bought Bloodstained there as well, they gave me an ACTUALLY SEALED copy. It was unbelievable... I don't think I had ever seen that. I don't buy games there often, but I definitely don't remember seeing that in a long time, maybe since EB games days.

And the random winner of the Rainbow Six Siege code is ecwfan!!

Thanks again to gamegirlpocket and Dranakin for their generosity!

PM incoming ecwfan
Thank you for the giveaway. I tried to get a code from Walmart, but my order got cancelled. Happy to have won.

Was the assassin's creed movie any good? May have to watch today
I second what willie said. I've said it before but I think it would've been a lot better if they skipped the modern day stuff and just did an assassin movie completely in the past. The animus isn't the same as the games and is a bit goofy.

I liked well enough, but I'm an Assassin's Creed fanatic. I enjoyed the callbacks to old games in the series with how it featured modern day descendants of other Assassins we have played as and/or come across.

That being said, I think the biggest problem is that they tried to walk too much of a line. They wanted it tied to the game series proper while also being approachable from people experiencing the franchise for the first time. Because of that, it kind of comes off as lukewarm if you catch my drift. It should have just committed to either being heavy into the existing game lore or being a spin-off/reimagining of it. Though I do admire Ubisoft for incorporating it into the main series if you dig deep enough in Origins.
