I don’t know if I can bring myself to spend more money on destiny 2. Made it thru the main story, it was fine. Curse of Osiris killed any and all interest I had in playing further. My god that was boring. The Vex are the least interesting enemy to fight and the levels were just as bad. I’ll go back when forsaken is free.

Forsaken isn't planned on being made free. Once the new season starts, only Y1 content will be made free with the release of New Light. That includes:

  • Vanilla campaign
  • Curse of Osiris campaign
  • Warmind campaign
In addition to this, the following content will be accessible in New Light:

  • All strikes
  • All raids
  • All crucible maps
  • Gambit mode (I think, not sure on this one)
Truly, if the last time you played D2 was during Curse of Osiris, Bungie has made so many sweeping changes to make the game more enjoyable that you probably wouldn't even recognize it. If you can get Forsaken or Forsaken + Annual Pass for cheap, I urge you to try it out. The Season of Opulence (the current season) is the last season that will have Activision's stink on the game and Bungie has been very vocal about the fact that they are now in charge of the future of the franchise. They are making big changes to the game and the community is (mostly) head over heels in love with where things are now and where they will be going soon.

Now there's a band from my high school years...

Talking about the likelihood of Forza 6 being delisted and that we should grab the DLC soon, I've been getting worried about backwards compatible games having their Achievement related DLC taken down before I purchase them (Like Forza Horizon, Dante's Inferno, Army of Two, Fight Night Champion). I don't like being locked out of achievements. I've been going through my collection and checking what add-ons are tied to achievements. There's easily a couple $100s worth of DLC I don't have. We really need an add-on sale :(

Curse of Osiris was bad. I enjoyed Forsaken mostly. Still not sure I’m in for Shadow Keep to preorder but I used to love the moon in original Destiny so it’s calling to me.

I'm sure those who even casually follow game news saw yesterday's announcement of Ninja switching exclusively to Mixer. Not much to say on him really, but this is an extremely aggressive attempt to make Mixer relevant. I'd wager it will have at least some success at moving the needle. If anything it's good something is finally moving into a potentially competitive space for Twitch. The moderation over there really has had their heads in their asses lately with very questionable decisions about what is and isn't enforced for the bigger names, and they haven't really brought any good new features in some time, while actively making the service worse by dropping the ad removal through Twitch Prime.

As for how this relates directly for Xbox, I have a couple thoughts. I think this will have some kind of impact on any upcoming Mixpots and/or drop-like integration. I see them either being improved to try to further push the platform, possibly be reeled back due to the actually wider appeal the platform could have since Mixpots only really benefit Xbox players so far, or a third option of dealing with that second scenario by adding additional platforms like Windows 10 or on the really far end maybe giving Steam keys for the individual games in MCC.

My second line of thought is what exactly his deal has built into it. T His is clearly a multi-year, multi-million dollar exclusivity deal. I'm curious if it includes possible promotion of Xbox/Microsoft games. This would now always be all that meaningful, as seen with the near worthless promotion of Fallout 76 he did, but he was also reportedly paid $1,000,000 by EA to play Apex Legends all day on launch. It's hard to gauge how much influence he alone had since they also paid most of the big Twitch names to do the same, but it was certainly something. If Ninja was to stream a game that's vaguely in the same realm as his wheelhouse, like Gears 5, I could see it boosting some numbers of said game, GamePass, or even Xbox consoles. The next obvious connection is Halo. Ninja got his foot into streaming/pro-gaming with Halo Reach and stuck with every game including Halo 5, playing competitively as late as 2017. This might be what he's referencing with his nonsense "back to my roots" statement.

Truly, if the last time you played D2 was during Curse of Osiris, Bungie has made so many sweeping changes to make the game more enjoyable that you probably wouldn't even recognize it. The Season of Opulence (the current season) is the last season that will have Activision's stink on the game and Bungie has been very vocal about the fact that they are now in charge of the future of the franchise. They are making big changes to the game and the community is (mostly) head over heels in love with where things are now and where they will be going soon.

I'm hoping that at some point in the future, maybe next year, Bungie will add the Forsaken content to the free to play version and I can check it out then. I only just recently finished Curse of Osiris, got in late to the game and didn't pick it up until just before Forsaken was announced. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the new content and it has gotten better. If I can get forsaken super cheap I may have to reconsider based on your recommendation.

Its alright and if I did offend anyone here with that I apologize as well. It was not at all intended to be hurtful. Honestly music helps me so much through bad times and finding a song that actually fits what you are going through is rare.

I used to live out in the country, real BFE territory, and had terrible things happen to several animals I loved dearly. I am well aware of the pain saying good bye causes.

I get the feeling they might make expansions free after a while, but it probably depends on how this new model shakes out. If free players aren't buying a lot of cosmetics then maybe not, but that is pretty much Warframe's business model. The big difference is that game was designed for F2P from the ground up so things like extra inventory are an easier sell.

I assume some version of Destiny 2 will be brought to next gen as well, but maybe not since it sounds like both platforms will have full backwards compatibility. This is probably a big factor in what the future holds. It could also make sense to have one final fresh start style platform to avoid some of the development issues they've had, though that was was supposed to be the case with D2 and seems like it didn't work.

I am incredibly curious to see how the Xbox One version of the game runs on Xbox Two. I bet 4K/60FPS isn't out of reach.

 
Speaking of Madden, the usual EA Access loophole of activating the punch card in the MS Rewards app on the Xbox dashboard, then downloading the 10 hour free trial will net you a nice 6000 MS Reward points.

Not sure who might need to know this, but you can still get the DLC for Fight Night Champion through the game itself even though the items have been delisted from Microsoft's websites. Two of the add-ons have achievements tied to them.

Sounds like somebody got picked last in gym class, haha j/k. Kind of judgy to rip on people for picking up Madden though. For me, I've still got a couple months of GCU left and Best Buy had a trade in promo to get another $10 off the game. So I got it "on launch" for $38.

Was there a way to get this to work if you've already downloaded the trial? I feel like this happened before, but I can't remember. I tried uninstalling it and clicking through again, but it didn't seem to work. Would be nice to grab the 6k points if I'm not SOL.

Will be free trials to not download right away for NHL and FIFA next month as well. At the very least I'm willing to bet that FIFA gets a "punch card" if not both.

i downloaded it when the trial first came out because i wanted to play it i guess next time i will hold back and wait so i can get points

 
Yeah they put the trials out quite a bit in advance, like this time I think it was a full 7 days because of those $100 Super Duper Deluxe editions and the Friday release date for the regular folk version. Punch cards seem to go up the day the regular version comes out.I got burned on Anthem that way, and this has been the only EA release since then I think... Should have NHL, FIFA, and the Star Wars game to try it on the rest of the year. 

 
Yeah it's not an achievement one, it's down below where they have you look at movies and fill out surveys and what not, ymmv I suppose. I have something there for Dauntless for +2500 points also.

Unless they did an actual patch to take advantage of the new hardware it wouldn't change much. I don't think D2 runs with a dynamic resolution but it if did then it'd likely just stay maxed out. It's locked at 30 FPS though. Unless they natively ported I don't think they'd bump it up. This was asked about the X version in the past and they said they didn't want players with the more powerful console to have an advantage due to higher FPS.
