Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

$15 Amazon promo Credit for checking out their photo app: https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=16334255011

And

$15 Amazon promo credit when you buy a $50 gift card. Go here: https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-eGift-Card-Logo/dp/B07PCMWTSG?tag=slicinc-20&ascsubtag=8fc02a62bfe111e9863a82142f90b8d80INT , add a $50 gift card, enter the promo code 19GIFTCARD at checkout

These both may be targeted deals. I was only allowed to claim the photo one, but that's still $15 towards a birthday purchase for myself in 10 days :)

All the love recently for neo-retro games, I have to shout out The Messenger.

Not a catchy name, but it's a phenomenal retro platformer/metroidvania-lite. There's some challenging platforming if you're going for all the collectibles, but generous checkpoints get you right back in. It may have already been ruined if you watch any marketing/reviews, but there's a great shift in setting about halfway through that I really enjoyed. I would say it's a homage to the NES Ninja Gaiden games, but I can't say for sure because I never made it past the first couple of levels on those games. This game has a great difficulty curve though; I felt prepared and knew what to do for each new challenge.

Also, you're a ninja, and the running animation makes me feel cool everytime.

Unfortunately, not on console yet, but is available on Game Pass PC and it runs real smooth on my old non-gaming laptop.

Highly recommend!
It's on Switch and PS4 but not Xbox One.

I got the $5 worth of amusement out the Forza 6 complete pack just doing some of the Nascar alone and it's not a sport I follow. The VIP bonus that doubles all the credits you get definitely will help but the game is still a giant grind achievement wise. There are a ton of cars you get for free without having to use in game credits on them, but even though you get let's say for the sack of me not looking it up you get "100+" cars it's so tedious to actually go through and add them to your collection. Each one feels like a 30 second process.

I already use the photo app, but I used the link to Google Play and turned on auto save. I guess I'll find out if it worked in a couple weeks.

Sorry, you are not eligible for this offer.

story of my life

also the usual response i get on tinder

I bought it as soon as it came out. There was no choice! I played it all the time when it was only on mobile devices. Actually, I think I bought both reloaded and anniversary.
SF Reloaded is way harder than SF Anniversary. Both are good games, but Reloaded felt a little more grindy and I gave up on some of the later stages because I lost my patience with it. I played the shit out of the first one though. Both are worth playing.

I picked up that Stories Path of Destiny and Omensight Bundle for $8.99.

I've been wanting to play Omensight for a while now and I enjoyed what I played of Stories on PS4 so I double dipped to get Omensight.
Hate this shit, got Stories by itself recently, would've liked the bundle instead. I liked Stories enough on PS4 to pick it up on XB1 first time it was on sale. I even (almost) finished it - which is kinda remarkable for me.

I was able to claim the Photos app promo. I didn't try the GC promo, though I'm thinking I wouldn't be eligible for it anyhow.

SF Reloaded is way harder than SF Anniversary. Both are good games, but Reloaded felt a little more grindy and I gave up on some of the later stages because I lost my patience with it. I played the shit out of the first one though. Both are worth playing.
There definitely is a grind but the games are fun enough that it’s not that big of a deal. The mobile versions didn’t have as large of a grind and having rewards from watching ads helped too.

Love the Skyforce games and actually prefer them on mobile. Shmups are a great fit for mobile when done right. Pisses me off that the Cave shmups are no longer compatible with the later iOS versions.

It’s Friday, what’s everyone playing this weekend?

Tonight I’ll probably rotate my crops on Let’s Farm Together, my wife and I have been enjoying You Don’t Know Jack 2 on Gamepass and of course Apex Legends solo and team mode for double xp weekend.

I mean I don't know if the "Creative Director" of Halo 5 leaving Halo Infinite is necessarily a bad thing since the former felt pretty void creatively. Same damn boss how many times? Although it's sure to spell certain doom for the game through the hyperbole of comment sections everywhere.

Yeah, his history on Star Wars was good but I really am not a fan of Halo 5's campaign. I thought it was someone else on Infinite but I guess I heard wrong. Hard to know for sure what decisions on 5 were actually directly on his shoulders though. There was a hell of a lot more wrong with Halo 5 than just the campaign, especially at launch.

I can't find much on his replacement, Mary Olsen. It looks like here entire work history is in audio production according to LinkedIn.

Bloodstained: RoTN. It has it's hooks in me deep.

Playing madden 20 and apex, beat sleeping dogs last weekend....also might try out assassins creed 3 remastered again

I played a few hours of For the King (from GamePass) and GREATLY enjoyed it. It's a Rogue-Like/Lite (not sure the difference) turn-based RPG game that is sometimes hex grid and sometimes dungeon crawler on rails. You can unlock all kinds of things to add to future play-throughs (more classes, more weapons and armor, more encounters, more skins, etc.) that you "purchase" with in-game currency you find here and there called Lore. I don't fully grasp all of the aspects of the game yet, but it has my attention.

Pro tip - Don't waste time naming your characters. ;)

Yoku’s island express, man you old gamers really love your pinball. I’m sitting here going around on a circle trying to get to where I want to go. Somehow grabbed 4 achievements in minutes though so whatever.

Like always I quickly soured on Madden 20. I play real style pocket QB and they still make ints too easy. In the real game you can beat a zone, in some of these lbs are so aware of the ball they swat back at nothing and knock it down. So the trial will end and I’ve had my fill.

So now some Life is Strange 2 episode 3 and Lords of Shadow.

Probably a good bit of Arkham Origins again. Maybe play Forza 6 some more so I can decide on whether I’d get the dlc bundle or not.

I've been feeling the need to play and beat a JRPG and decided to play Tokyo Mirage Sessions on my WiiU. I Don't know if you know this, but JRPG's...alot of grinding and they take alot of time. SHOCKING I KNOW.

On the back end of a 4 day weekend of sorts from work (had PTO and someone else needed hours so why not), been playing Overwatch to get my new placements done w/ the lady, then been on a Destiny 2 kick for a day or so. Not doing the crazy Solstice nonsense - I’m just so done with PvP in D2 and even Gambit has lost its luster. Just sticking with bounties, trying to do Black Armory quests and such, doing the good old solo PvE grind.
Downloaded Lords of Shadow tonight though, so maybe I’ll give that a shot tomorrow. Been avoiding traditional MetroidVania games for a few weeks after going through Hollow Knight. I loved it, but trying to get the Trial of the Fool and the *real* ending was wearing me down and I needed a break (didn’t get either yet, grr).

Sea of Thieves(the Relic Hunt content is awesome) & continue to grind in Mortal Kombat 11. I still can't believe how horrid they made the grind in that game. Makes Mortal Kombat X look like it had no flaws

Gonna get that Forza Motorsport 6 super bundle for $5/95% off. I too, will rarely play that game but yeah. I'm a CAG. Gotta get in on that deal before it's gone forever

How is that game? I bought it but never took it out of the case. For awhile there I was collecting Wii U games like it was a system I spent much time with.

I've been knocking out some backlog (blasphemy, I know). I just went back and finished Band of Bugs and all the DLC tonight, I'll probably 100% the achievements this weekend. Might finish Asura's Wrath. For 2019, I'm doing better than I thought, even getting 100% achievements in more games than usual. So far I've beaten:

Doom 2016, 2nd playthrough

The Turing Test (100%)

Civilization Revolution (100%)

Streets of Rage Collection (100%)

Prison Architect

Jurassic World Evolution

Final Fight: Double Impact

MudRunner

Life is Strange, 2nd playthrough (100%)

Limbo (100%)

Final Fantasy 7, 12th playthrough? (100%)

One Leaves

Doom Original (100%)

Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown (100%)

Fighting Vipers (100%)

Red Dead Redemption 2

Plants vs. Zombies (100%)

Turok (100%)

Borderlands: GOTY

Final Fantasy XV Comrades (Anyone want to 100%? I just need to beat Kenny Crow)

Jurassic Park: The Game (100%)

Rocket League (100%)

Band of Bugs

PS4: Sonic Spinball, Five Nights at Freddy's VR, Transference VR, The Exorcist VR,

Slay the Spire tip, turn on fast mode in the options. It speeds up all animations and makes it so much better.

Also this game is really addicting.

It's pretty straight forward JRPG fare meaning if you bet the story includes a childhood friend, yup, but the battle system is pretty great with figuring out the weaknesses of enemies and linking combos to take advantage of it (while figuring out the order to best take them out so they can't do the same to your party). Though the game also respects my time more then other JRPG's with alot of touches to make me not feel I have to make alot of time in my day to play it like you can see the enemy encounters and can choose to walk past them or attack and possibly get a free turn, save anywhere, fast travel spots in dungeons and spells to allow you to return to your headquarters immediately if want to rest or get new skills. Also it's probably one of the most colorful and bright games I've played in years, which is oddly refreshing.

Been playing We Happy Few recently, enjoy it a lot more then I thought I would have. Almost done with Ollie's playthrough and then thinking about getting the dlc. Anyone played the dlc yet?

That actually sounds pretty good. Thanks for sharing your opinion. I recently put away the Wii U while cleaning up the tv stand but I may need to hook it up and give this a go some time. Never started it since my gaming time is very limited but hearing it respects your time is a big plus in my book.

Hitman 2 Expansion Pass worth it? Don’t know how frequent this or Square Enix passes go on sale.
Ha Hitman 2 is so confusing, I honestly might own the expansion pass right now and not even know it.... so many editions and upgrades and bundles. Although worth noting they are no longer under the Square Enix umbrella and are now Warner Brothers. Warner Brothers sucks hard with DLC, but they will kill the price on it after long enough time.

Hitman's DLC is honestly pretty bad. I reported last year that I was able to play the the entire game at one point without a disc. Then there were times certain levels wouldn't work (says you don't own them) when I had the disc in my system. And to this day I still don't know I was able to play the Patient Zero campaign at one point as I never bought it, but whateva.

Hitman 2016 and it's sequel are great games but the distribution method suuuuuuuuuuuck.

I'm about 40 hours deep into Fire Emblem Three Housess, as well as finishing up my final exam project for htis semester. Just about done with the class so I'll be putting more time into the current games. I was play some Halo games last night with a buddy who used to run an in-game podcast. We were uploading our maps to take advantage of the the upcoming transfer to MCC. Other than that I've been plugging away at the BattlePass in Fortnite, and play the new character in Soul Calibur VI.

As a side note, transferring saves between a couple of Xboxes seemi de-activated my Halo Waypoint rewards in Halo Reach. After some searching it sounds like I would have to login on a 360 so I can re-download Waypoint to re-activate the rewards.
