Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Pretty sure my house was struck by lightning last night. Was on Youtube on Switch kind of half awake when it started poring super hard and I heard the loudest thunder I've ever heard. My lights didn't go out but the video stopped and I lost picture from my Switch dock. I managed to do a sort of hard reset for the dock itself and brought it back to life. TV was fine, PS4 in another room was fine, but the one thing plugged in with Ethernet was my One X, so both it and my modem seem to have been fried. Modem is whatever, I just rent it and they replaced it no problem. The One X symptoms appear to be a power supply issue. I think my 360 is doing the same thing but it's lower priority and that's easy to replace since it's just a cable.

Fortunately I work at a store that does console repairs, and my tech should hopefully have a power supply to test with tomorrow. I really hope it's just the power supply and the board itself isn't fried, as that problem is only like $50-60 to fix as far as parts go. I'm just glad it didn't fuck up my whole house: appliances, PC, TVs, furnace and everything seem fine so far. Still, at the bare minimum that drains my Borderlands 3 money so that blows.

I picked up Astral Chain earlier in the week, and I have at least three routes in Fire Emblem Three Houses left, so at least I still have stuff to play. Pretty glad everything is cross-save in Fortnite on PS4 as well, including my ownership of Save the World.

Another code from the Rockstar/Gears of War promotion. This is for pack 2:

6H4GK-MQ2FH-FJHYW-C6FWH-KMH7Z

Side-note: I'm not sure if this is well-known, but I bought a can of Rockstar at Walmart and the receipt had a code on it to enter on the redemption website that was different than the code on the can.

Each code (the one on the receipt and the one on the can) provided 7-day Gold and 7-day Game Pass, so 14 days of each for one can. When redeeming, it said that it would convert to Ultimate at 5 days for each code (instead of 7) but I noted for the last code it extended for 7 days (instead of the stated 5).

I didn't pay attention when entering the earlier codes, but if that holds and it does extend 7 days per code, it's $1.50 for a can that extends an Ultimate membership by 28 days. I'm heading to the store later and will try again to verify. Good deal if true!

Borderlands 3 6k punchcard is up...May have been for awhile but I didn’t see mention of it.
It's not been that long because I looked about an hour ago, then my dashboard did the new update and I checked again and it was there. Sadly no NHL 20 punch card. Guess I'll go ahead and grab my trial.

Borderlands 3 season pass...worth it?
There is like zero reason to buy a $50(!) season pass this early unless you really want the Butt Stallion cosmetics. Not much info on it beyond 4 story based DLCs much like BL2.

Personally I've never really liked most of the Borderlands DLC in the past. It's generally pretty short with a handful of new weapons and one new raid boss per release. Admittedly the new Commander Lilith DLC was pretty good but that was also outsourced to a different team and based on the work of a canceled Pre-Sequel DLC from the Australian team, I assume the main Gearbox would be making this season pass DLC.

One concern I see in the listing is that is doesn't say anything about the planned new character trees that they're doing instead of new characters this time. I got the impression that those would not be free updates, and the store page only says "featuring exclusive cosmetic items and four story campaign add-ons with new missions and challenges".

In case anyone still needs to join a Gears Pop clan, I just left the Cag XB 2 clan. I’ve been trying to get on to open the spot for someone for weeks now but the damn broken iOS version wouldn’t let me on, but now that they’ve finally fixed it, it’s done. So have at it, folks.

I appreciate the comprehensive response. I’m not really a season pass guy, usually a base game or goty purchaser but I was intrigued by the edition that’s essentially getting it for $40 which does seem like a stretch at the beginning too. I’m just worried if I buy digital base game I’ll be chasing season pass sales or goty upgrades forever.

Personally the deal breaker for me would be how BL2 and Pre-Sequel were handled post launch. 2 ended up having a good amount of stuff not in the season pass, some of which I think was released while said pass was still "active", though I may be off on that point. The DLC characters come to mind, they also had those strange holiday themed DLCs, and I think one of the level increasing packs wasn't in the pass. With Pre-Sequel they dropped the game hard when it didn't meet their sales goals or whatever, to the point that we know of at least the one that end up recycled for the recent free add-on, original called Luxy's Space Adventure.

I'm not trashing on the DLCs too hard as I know some people like them, but personally the only DLC I felt was good between the three previous games was the D&D one, until Commander Lilith. I'm curious if Gearbox has paid attention to the good and bad things games like Destiny, The Division, and Warframe have done since BL2, as they actually have competition in the genre now.

That’s what I thought but the rebate points haven’t popped, the quest card was automatic though..maybe it’s delayed.

Personally the deal breaker for me would be how BL2 and Pre-Sequel were handled post launch. 2 ended up having a good amount of stuff not in the season pass, some of which I think was released while said pass was still "active", though I may be off on that point. BL2's pass was done pretty much how it was detailed from the beginning - 4 story DLCs. The "pretty much" part is because they did add the first UVHM upgrade to the pass. People just had the impression at that point that a season pass covered every single piece of post release content, regardless of what the developer and publisher may have said. Perhaps if they had called it expansion pass, people might not have expected the characters, though then there's the holiday DLCs. Now, we have multiple seasons and games as a service, so expectations have changed.

I haven't played any of the DLCs from TPS, though I was disappointed that they didn't include achievements with the new characters that were 2 of the 4 DLCs in the pass.

My MS Rewards page was being funk today. I probably did the 10 question quiz about 4 different times before it finally registered as being complete. Did all my pc searches also and it showed 0/150, looked at it later and it was fine though.

Some of the funniest times in BL2 was crashing with the stupid cars while playing co-op. After missing a required jump a bunch switching drivers after the passenger is like you suck let me drive. Then watch him crash even worse. Hope to play an hour or two tonight but not sure if I will have much time until Sunday.
Been there done that with my friends in the past in Borderlands lol :) I was playing tonight with one of my real world online Xbox friends and the driving around the map was hilarious as we both learned the controls. Good times...

I am really enjoying Borderlands 3 much more than I anticipated.

I don't know why golden keys hate being added to my borderlands 2 game. The game says in the menu I got the ones from the VIP website but not the like 35 I added after through shift codes.

I did get the special new rainbow loot from the VIP website. They're cool and pretty OP. It also means all I need to do is get a rainbow tier relic and I get the achievement for having one in each slot.

Sorry about your One X hope it’s not going to require a major repair.

So is the Gears 5 campaign absurdly broken for anyone else? It's laughable how many times my game has crashed or how I load into a coop game and there's no sounds give or take one or two random sound effects. It's really frustrating

Just tried to buy Riddled Corpses EX on the Xbox One store through its listing, and it wouldn't go through after three tries.  After I added it to my cart, the transaction finally worked.

Confirmed that 1 can of specially-marked Gears of War 5 Rockstar at Walmart for $1.50 gives you 4 separate codes (2 from the can and 2 from the receipt) for 28 days added onto a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Great deal if you can find the cans.

Have some more codes for Gears of War 5 in-game add-ons from those same cans. 3 for pack 1 and 3 for pack 2 as well as 2 for the Walmart exclusives. Message me if you want a set!

So curious, but if I buy multiple cans can it be on the same transactions or do I gotta do multiple to get all the codes on the receipt?

That's odd. But unless the Rockstar promo changed as well, only the first 2 code redemptions on their site give you codes for Game Pass and Gold. From the 3rd code onward it's just stuff for Gears 5.

The receipt will print multiple codes if you buy multiple cans. The first time I found Gears 5 cans, I started checking them out individually because I wasn't sure. After 5, I got tired of it and did the rest in one transaction. The receipt had 5 codes.

I read through the SlickDeals writeup, but not the comments, and one thing they appear to get wrong - the 7 day XBL Gold codes shouldn't stack like the Game Pass ones. It's only a trial and can't be used to extend a current subscription.

Not sure. I bought eight cans and just did eight separate transactions (in the self-checkout lane because I'm not a monster) to make sure that I got the code on the receipt.

Added on months to Game Pass Ultimate for $12 plus the added bonus of shortening my life-span by however many days that drinking Rockstar causes.

EDIT: You do need to register with the redemption site after each can code/receipt code pairing as Game Pass/Gold codes will only be provided for the first two codes entered.

It did say that it was going to extend the Ultimate with the Gold code, but I didn't verify with the subscription expiration date to confirm. I'm going to buy some more later and will verify then.

Thanks for the note about multiple codes on one receipt. Will save me from feeling like an idiot later in the self-checkout.

Ok, I just tried to redeem one of my 7 day Gold codes from Rockstar and got the notice that it will convert to 5 days of GPU. I'd seen that the Game Pass ones actually go through for the full 7 days, so I guess the Gold ones do, too.

I assumed (dangerous, I know) that those codes were similar to the 7 day codes from the Chips Ahoy promo. Attempting to redeem those says they are trials for new customers only.

NBA 2k20 just had a 38 go update yesterday. Crazy.

Hey I can’t get the NBA 2k20 quest for getting a cheevo if you own the game to pop. Probably got 8 achievements since I activated. Has anyone else had a problem?

Yeah, still don't know yet. So far we tested out the power supply, disc drive, and hard drive and they all seem fine. The tech is hoping it's the power board, which would only be about $25. If it's something on the main board it's bad, might not be possible for us to fix, and he said worst case scenario would be selling it off as parts for about $150. If that's the case at least we have some decent shape used ones in store for $330, and I'd probably get a discount on top of that. I just hope it is fixable, it's not really ideal to replace it now when the Xbox Two is probably coming within 12 months.
