Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I haven't even touched Spec Ops yet (and may not). It's shitty that it happened but it was never going to stop me from buying the game (and if I wanted that mode, I would have just gotten it on PS4). But I am also someone that bought Black Ops 4 and only played Blackout.
All I still currently play is blackout so I understand. But it sucks that the one specialized mode that my friend and I actually would play on this year's iteration is still a year away

I remember at the very end of the movie, when the camera hit the ground, the ENTIRE THEATER went dead silent, thinking after all the buildup we were finally gonna get a quick scary ass glimpse of the Witch. Then the movie just....ended. I've never heard a theater boo that loudly since.
Reminds me of this classic:

So I heard Playstation is giving refunds to people who purchased WWE2K20. Any word on Xbox doing the same?

Is Sony banning accounts tho? That's their policy last I heard, refund a digital purchase then kill the account. Microsoft has refunded a few things for me and I still have my original account. They even refunded me the few small purchases I made on Marvel Heroes before I asked.

Go fuck yourself you contemptuous piece of shit.

I'm committed to boycotting the purchase of modern warfare because of the special ops survival exclusivity. One year time delay is completely obsurd and ironically it's the only mode me and my friends played from MW3.

Why are people really not more annoyed by this. I get they got a big pile of cash but it should be a month at most. The next call of duty will already be out when Xbox gets that mode.
I agree. The outrage over the lack of the feature did nothing and so far they haven’t budged one bit or gave any indication they would. Shows you how weak consumers are in this industry.

Outer Worlds is really fun, I'm enjoying it.  It's a shame that the game doesn't support HDR though, I think some of the outside environments on the planet would've looked really spectacular with it.

probably late with this but Minit is really good, was completely distracted from outerworlds for the few hours it took me to 100% in, everyone with gamepass should try it.

killing accounts was reported from people who did charge backs on their credit card. not for getting a refund from Sony. And yes microsoft and I believe Sony refunded people for all marvel heros omega purchases when the game shut down.

Microsoft did for all money spent on Marvel Heroes Omega. Sony who had an exclusive "beta" didn't refund anything older than 30 days. So that cool War Machine i bought to get into the beta was worthless. It's a YMMV with this stuff.

Funny MHO is still in my "ready to install" list but games I did actually buy like WWE ones are gone.

Microsoft was way more proactive about Heroes and more helpful when it came to customer service. I PSN purchases can't be refunded if downloaded unless it's completely broken. I just remember a lot of anger around Heroes and banned PSN accounts with refunds. I could not recall if all were chargebacks but I know Sony will take away your account really quick for those issues where Microsoft will block your account for entirely different odd reasons

I'd like to second the recommendation for Minit - wonderful little game. Was browsing the Game Pass tile with my wife in the room and she was intrigued by the "cover" art... I'd already downloaded it, so we booted it up... I think maybe two hours flew by? Beat it but not with every item, looking forward to going back.

Blair Witch doesn't port YET, but with Ultraviolet officially dead now I'd hope that Lionsgate will be joining Movies Anywhere soon.

Regal Crown Club members will get digital copies of a few of their movies currently in theatres if they buy tickets to all four of them - with UV dead and no MA partnership, I'm wondering how they will distribute these in a way to satisfy everyone. So something tells me an announcement of MA partnership is coming before the holidays.

I’ve never seen Blair Witch but looking on Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes, it looks like you are both right. Critics have it above 80 and users/audience around 50. It seems like it’s one of those that was critically a good film but audiences were mixed on.

I tried Minit since it was only a couple hundred MB....ooof, the graphics are way too simple. As in I have to squint on a 55" HDTV to discern wtf I'm looking at. The dumbed down pixelation sucks so much out the gate. After about 45 mins in, I get the "Zelda-esque comparisons," but eh. LoZ is superior in all facets and this game just didn't bring much to the table new or even comparable imo.

To each their own, I get that. But when the main character looks like a duck faced poser......too much for me to overcome. I'll gladly enjoy The Outer Worlds which 30 mins in, has me hooked

I think it's Legend of Zelda on the NES in maybe looks only, in no way is it that type of game or should be played that way. More like Half Minute Hero.

guys GUYS! both your personal opinions about the movie are wrong. as are everyone else's.
But your opinion is then also wronger. Wait, is that a word? I don't care, it is now! Come on down to Crazy Logan's where we make up all the words you need! Big words! Small words! Words to fit any budget! Don't have a budget? We don't care, we're CRAZY!!! *puff puff*

I thought the ending of Blair Witch was well done, but I had given up on the characters when one of them tossed the map and then they didn't think to follow the river when they were lost.  I was rooting against them from that point on.

Pondering whether I want to drop $40 on the Shocktober sale.  RE2 and Witcher 3 will do it, but not sure if I want to bite ...  Haunted Halloween 86 looks interesting for an old school itch.

The ending was the only thing I ended up liking. The rest? Not so much. I did like the third one a tad better because it at least went with it was still "real"

I see the original Blair Witch movie as a had-to-be-there moment, as others have said. This is true about a lot of older horror movies which are very tame by modern standards. Seeing it in the theater with all the mystery from the marketing campaign, it was pretty creepy, and the ending was fine. It was meant to be watched in the immersion of a movie theater in the dark. Watching it at home or on a laptop etc was never the point. Seems like a fine cross-promo with the new game, which plenty of folks are also playing for free.

Looks to be the same kind of deal as Street Fighter 5 or Nioh, with Sony kicking in some funding and publishing but also getting PC releases.  I'm sure he at least talked to Phil when he went on his free agent tour after leaving Konami. One thing that Phil has never quite cracked, is the japanese stuff. Xbox will never be big over there and he seems to have pretty good dealings with Namco and Capcom overall, but would love to at least get the Dragon Quest/Warrior games if not the Personas. We don't even get the B tier stuff that fills the PS4 and Switch store. Ha I'd love a few of the Arcade Archives (ACA) games that aren't NeoGeo.

I think if your big thing is B tier japan games, I hope by 3 generations of Xbox you’ve realized you need a Switch or PS4 for that stuff. With the PS4 pro, the old school PS4s are pretty affordable if your just playing arcade stuff.

In other interesting news. MS had this kind of offer before in the back end of the 360 days, what's really interesting here is if you go for the Xbox One X option, you get an "option" to upgrade to the Scarlet when it comes out.

Makes you wonder if Scarlett will be $499 at launch if you can upgrade to it.

I have all 3 systems this gen already but mostly game on the Xbox, I just like options, and 360 had a pretty sizable library of them. I already bought Ninja Warriors from the Arcade Archives a couple months ago and the "new" Ninja Saviors: the Warrriors return game that just released on PS4/Switch last week. That's the type of game that doesn't really make sense we don't see on the Xbox.

That's what I was thinking as well, it might be at least a hint at what pricing Scarlett is going to come in at, I can't see it above $499 but I also don't ever see them losing the hardware conversation spec wise with Sony again. Besides the Kinect and the bad messaging at the Xbox One launch it also was technically an inferior system.

I don’t know how I missed that death stranding was a PlayStation exclusive. Is it just about the benjamins for Kojima or is it more that he’s so Japan and the Xbox console is like a non-topic there?
More like he was kicked out of Konami, all references to his name was removed from his work, and Sony offered him a new studio. Look at them swooping in like studs giving Kojima a new studio, giving Shenmue a platform to raise funds, and accelerating Street Fighter V's development. Microsoft has done similar for beleagured studios like Obsidian.

Is there a link to this promo?

Let's go Astros!
Astros...baseball...

Who says it's only a game!

(I lived hundreds of miles from Houston growing up but I would still here this jingle on TV and radio spots, so now it's permanently part of me.)

It’s Kojima, like someone said, no one swooped in to Save him. He took the best offer from a team to publish and probably give him full reign.

Regal has been doing this a long time. And Lionsgate usually just has redemption options for like Vudu and iTunes (your choice). Don’t expect them to join MA anytime soon TBH. It costs money to join and Lionsgate really isn’t that healthy as a company.

I’m honestly fine if they don’t. At least when you redeem their HD codes on iTunes you get an automatic 4K upgrade when it’s 4K.

Did anyone else audibly laugh at the completion time for Oblivion being 27.5 hours?
I laugh at completion times for all games. I am a SLOW gamer. I'm sure it would annoy most people to death, but I like exploring every nook and cranny and taking my time. I even try to appreciate the art and effort it took to build the worlds. I'm not stopping and staring at stuff and i'm not some art lover by any means. I just like to go slow and appreciate it. I find my completion time is often 50% higher or more than others. When people say it took them 15 hours to finish a campaign, I usually end up well over 20 hours easily.

For me, it's the photo modes that kill my completion times. Kill a boss easily and then spend 20 minutes trying to time a lightning strike in Hellblade perfectly so I can get the lighting I want for a picture I have in mind:

I’m playing through Halo 1 anniversary and I never realized how ridiculously difficult this game is. I’ve probably died more times in this game than 90% of campaigns and I still have two levels left.
I also played it recently and it made me realize how poorly designed it is compared to the games of today. The game is artificially lengthened by something like 30-40% by making you go through the same sections over and over and I'm not sure if this was the Anniversary edition or what but the checkpoints are just ridiculously bad. Sometimes I would die and be back 10 minutes before and then die again in the same spot and be back 2 minutes because it just didn't trigger the first time. I found myself just running past enemies frequently just trying to get to the next checkpoint toward the end because of how little ammo you find compared to the amount of enemies. Still looking forward to working though the rest of the collection before the new one comes out though.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on that because I saw Blair Witch in the theater when it came out and still thought it sucked. Also, if you have any issues with motion sickness (I don't) that shaky cam crap will probably trigger it. Speaking of which (witch?) I've got a Blair Witch code that I don't need, so first person to PM gets it.

EDIT: Code has been claimed.
