Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I'm sure glad I gave sea of thieves another shot before I tossed it aside too early

it's so much fun and there are so many options of how to spend your time. The gameplay balance between new and experienced players is awesome imo. Just such a fun well thought out and put together game. One minute you feel like a pirate then indiana jones then you fall in the water in the middle of the ocean fight to survive and head to an outpost sounding like this

I feel like it was meant to be played with four players, but I don't have three friends willing to play it with me.

like all games it's more fun with friends and 4 would be ideal but you can still play alone in a smaller boat

but a lot of time alone at sea turns you into this guy

Your best bet is to buy the full Elsweyr edition (not the upgrade) even though you already have the base game. It's on sale for $20 on Xbox Live and it gets you Elsweyr, Morrowind, Summerset, and the base game. These are the best and most fleshed out DLCs and will give you tons of quests, but there is still a LOT of DLC not included. There are additional dungeons that require you to buy ESO Crowns to unlock.

You used to be able to get the physical version of ESO Gold Edition for around $5 to get 4 other pieces of DLC (Imperial City, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and Orsinium) and trade in the disc, but people are reporting that those DLC cards are expired now. I think you have to buy ESO Crowns for these now as well. Crowns are currently on sale on Xbox Live.

Full Elsweyr Edition $20: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/the-elder-scroll-online-elsweyr/c16hhtc9k79c?cid=msft_web_search&activetab=pivot:eek:verviewtab

Collectors Elsweyr $26 (If you want extra mounts, emotes, and armor styles): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/the-elder-scrolls-online-elsweyr-collectors-edition/c0hks76kk9z8?cid=msft_web_search&activetab=pivot:eek:verviewtab
Nice! Thank you for explaining this. Looks like I’ll go for the $20 set of DLC. Thanks again.

Do you guys know if the HBO digital codes still give multiple redemptions?

I redeemed the code on their website and picked Vudu. It said iTunes, Google play, and Fandango now we're options.

New years resolution, I will start playing the 1047 games in my backlog.

Does anyone know what day exactly Headlanders is leaving game pass? Also have the new games for January been announced yet?

Anyone play Thimbleweed Park on gamepass? Has that Commodore 64 feel to it
It was fantastic. If you have nostalgia for old Scumm games, especially Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle, this should really do a lot for you. Not only is the game very good on its own, but it also has a lot of in-jokes and self referential humor targeted at fans of the original games

Monday the 30th I believe. Think I'm out of luck playing it before it leaves. I was going to start today but wasn't able to. Looks like it's around 5 hours to beat if you're not going for 100%. I don't know if it follows the same schedule as sales but if it does it will be available until like 3AM EST on the 31st I think.

Damn that sucks! I just started playing it myself. I know Ashen left game pass in the middle of this month on the 13th. I feel like games should at least get a month between the time of the announcement and the time it leaves game pass or else it's too soon!

I've got a question, I looked and didn't see an answer, but Resident Evil 7 is up for two prices, $14.99/$24.99(Gold Edition) and $4.99/$14.99(Gold Edition).  It appears the more expensive is the XB1 edition, the other the PC version.  However, they are both "Play Anywhere" and list both XB1 and PC as Available.

So, what's the difference in getting the cheap one just for the intention of playing on XB1?  Any issues or limitations for which I should be aware?

It appears the more expensive is the XB1 edition, the other the PC version. However, they are both "Play Anywhere" and list both XB1 and PC as Available.

I have the Play Anywhere version and it works fine

Edit: I meant I purchased the PC version on the Xbox Marketplace and that plays on my Xbox

I highly recommend the PS4 version if you have a PS4 and PSVR. If not, I recommend the Gold edition if you are getting this for Xbox One.

The PS5 specs have "leaked" and it's official...I Still don't know what any of this shit means, but I assume it'll let me play Insomniac Spider-man 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn so can't wait!

Those of you with credit to burn, the 3 Final Fantasy branded CG films are on sale as a bundle for $9 today:

Kingsglave is supposedly worth your time as a supplement to FFXV, and it doesn't usually go on sale. Advent Children is great eye candy for fans of FF7, even if the story is (IMHO) fucking stupid.
I Look at that bundle more as "Spirits Within with TWO free movies" because that's the only way you can get anyone interested in that ass of a movie. Bad ass weapons and moves, adventure, likeable characters...No! Let's not have any of that shit in our first (and only) major film release. Instead let's put out a boring ass sci-fi movie with some flawed ass science and just either put the audience to sleep or make them angry in their seats knowing they paid for this terrible movie!

I know I've asked this before, but it's been a while and I wanted to see if there's any new opinions.

Tekken 7 Ultimate vs Soul Caliber 6 Deluxe.

They both seem to be great values for what they normally go for and I might just get both. But as an offline single player only gamer I wanted to see if there was an overwhelming consensus.

I just bought SoulCalibur VI deluxe because I’ve played previous titles in the series and I read it’s a return to what made the series great. I’ve never been into Tekken so I don’t know between the two.

If you're primarily planning on playing through story modes Soul Caliber will last you longer and has a bit more variety. If you're into local versus against AI Tekken is a bit deeper and will take longer to master as a fighting game.

Fighting feels much more solid in Tekken compared to Soul Calibur. Soul Calibur hasn't really hit the high marks it had since the PS2 era and even now it's struggling to find it's place in the fighting community. Also Tekken has a somewhat more cohesive story than Soul Calibur in the very least as well.

I think I’m out on next gen or at least a late adopter for the first time ever. I think it’s sad that Xbox confusing name and PS5 are just about upgraded power. Makes them seem way more limited to me in that they’re just 7-10 year PCs that will eventually be lower performance. I still appreciate how Nintendo innovates with the switch/wii and believe that’s where console gaming should go. Like on of these consoles could lead with wireless vr or hell, copy the switch and let me pickup the ps5 and walk around. Just being upgraded under the hood is ho hum in my opinion.

Power is where Sony and MS have been going along with major Third Party Publishers and now that they've settled on PC architecture with x86, it only makes things easier, and everybody can focus on actually utilizing the overall power which affects everything else including VR. Switch is a response after the disastrous Wii U, and Nintendo had to consolidate two of their best markets (console, handheld) into one in order to comeback.

Both xbox and playstation are going to let you walk around and play the console...via your phone or other device.

Once they both went to X86 I knew consoles as we knew them were dead. The Xbox One and PS4 are essentially already low power PCs optimized to play games and I’m fine with that. I’ll be on day one if Xbox Series X is $499, I’m ready to upgrade my Xbox to a higher powered pc.

It used to be that consoles were ahead of PC in terms of graphics but PCs have gotten way ahead.

Anyone who ordered that Astros A40's when they were on sale the other day might check your emails. Looks like all of the orders are being canceled unless you got lucky and price matched at Best Buy.

The next gen leap of PS5/XSX at their price point will be well ahead of PC's . This gen was the first gen that launched underpowered relative to PC's.

Fair point and moreso when considering most first party games are beginning to stagnate as they homogenize the formula of game-making. MS and Sony honestly have zero games I'm excited for and so long as GPU continues offering the same games as what's coming to next gen, albeit at a graphical downgrade, I'm good. Best games I've played recently don't take powerhouses and could be run on a PS3 or 360. I gave up trying to finish Jedi because they tried to make it Soulsborne when it should not be. Fired up Ghost of a Tale finally last night and sunk six hours straight into it because it does fit that mold perfectly. Easily my GOTY since not much else has captivated me in 2019.

Sad when considering it was a $17 kickstarter game on sale and it was a million times the better game.

The huge upgrade of the CPU in PS5/XSX will have the most impact to next gen games and should be exciting in it's uses in overall game design and artificial intelligence.
