Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Lol everybody is out getting a Switch or playing Zelda and I'm here playing Halo Wars 2 PvP (insert Spider-Man at desk meme). I recently found out that GameSpot gave it a 6/10 and reading their review I remember why I don't visit that site anymore. What a load of shit.
The campaign's sorry was better than Halo 5 and the mission variety was inspired of of StarCraft II and modern day RTS titles. One of my favorite games of last gen was BfME II - GameSpot gave a 83/100 - and it uses the similar control scheme, which was used for HW1 as well. HW2's control scheme IMPROVES on that control scheme! Did they even play it on PC I wonder?

Blitz Mode could be its own game tbh, esp with how successfully received GWENT was in The Witcher 3. It's highly addicting to do a match because they're fairly fast and then dive back into deck management with either the cards you just got or changing up your strategies.

/Rant

Oh and I was looking at the achievements for daily or weekly challenges in HW2 and there is one, Long-Term Commitment, for "Complete at least 1 Weekly Challenge each week for a month." Hahaha, dafuq you smokin'.

I may have to get a Wii U on the cheap just for Zelda (and Bayonetta 2). Have no interest in a Switch. Rather save more money towards Scorpio.

Edit: Wii U is still not that cheap! Forget that...
I just buy cheap games I'm interested in for now. Eventually I'll find a wii u at a garage sale for $20 I figure.

I had the same reaction. I wonder how many people are having this realization this weekend. Nintendo was so good about making sure they weren't stockpiles of WiiU to go on clearance after the switch came out. Hard to know how much of that was a happy accident and how much of that was intentional.

Totally intentional, they recalled all retail stock so you had to go grab a Switch if you didn't already have a Wii U to play Zelda. I'll grab it for Wii U this fall when it goes on sale digitally lol.

LOL I canceled all my preorders weeks ago when the desyncing issues began cropping up. Even one of the systems I was poring over whether or not to give to my brother. The two people I know irl who got Switches are already having joycon problems. Eff that, I'll just dust off my Wii U and get Zelda BotW since that's the only good game so far on that system. Bomberman for $50? Tetris for $40? A proper controller for $80? MarioKart again for $60 w/correct battle mode? I can patiently wait till Fall for price drops and all the bugs to be fixed + Mario Odyssey. In the meantime, preordered ME Andromeda instead

On topic, Fallout Shelter keeps crashing on me non stop at the vault loading screen. Console resets and powering the router off and on doesn't help. I know my dwellers who went out searching in the wasteland are surely dead now RIP
Had the same Fallout Shelter issue. While playing another game I switched controllers and the profiles associated with them and later when I went back to FS it had me choose my profile, then choose my vault, but then it would crash when it tried to load the vault. I'm pretty sure a system reset fixed it which doesn't help you. What may help if you don't know about reviving characters is that you can revive characters with caps. I think it scales with their level. In my case I only had my level 47 badass exploring for a few days when she died. She found a place to explore and I entered it and found some great stuff, but had to use a lot of health packs. There was one tiny room left and I had four health packs left. I risked it thinking there would only be a couple enemies at once, but there were four including a boss feral ghoul. No chance. Had the option to revive her for 1000 caps. She still had to return and had all the equipment she had acquired exploring, but not the stuff from the encounter. Not surprisingly, she dropped from 100% happy to 10%, so I sent her straight to baby making and she went right back to 100%. Just make sure you've got a bunch of caps before you check on your explorers because you only get one chance to revive them. Hopefully, you aren't prompted right away when you load the game.

Finished and deleted BF1 campaign this morning. The first story or two weren't very good IMO.
Major spoilers below. Do not click if you don't want spoilers.
I am not very good a flying but really enjoyed the flying mission in this game. The tank one was horrible. Just a mess. Spent probably 2 hours trying to find the last spark plug or two. The best story I think was that last one. I would actually be interested in a 8 hour game based on that.
But they couldn't help but screw up the ending IMO. Don't even bother with the field guns. Just ride up to the train on a horse and throw 2 grenades. Ride to cover. Get off horse, get back on horse magically get 2 more grenades. Rinse and repeat. Didn't fail once this way. Trying to use the field guns I died over and over even just firing once and running away. Take more then 2 seconds to line up the shot and you die.
I had a hard time at the train on hard. I died probably a dozen times using the field guns. I had started using anti tank grenades after the first death and then after all the deaths I tried the claymores. Mixed with the anti tank grenades it took out at least 90% of the health.

Wii U was a failed experiment. I have one that I will never get rid of since all the digital games that I purchased on it are tied to that specific console, but I ultimately regret buying it. Although I grew up with Nintendo, I will probably never buy another Nintendo system. My main complaint with Wii U was that the damn thing didn't have a place to plug in the Ethernet cable and you had to use wi-fi to download games from the EShop. At a certain point, my Wii U wouldn't connect to my wi-fi anymore and after restarting my router numerous times, I just gave up. My 3DS and 2DS systems have encountered the same problem although I was eventually able to get those to work. But while downloading one of those legendary Pokemon to use with Pokemon Y on my 3DS a while ago, I was unable to save my game and lost that little piece of DLC forever. So I'm done with Nintendo. Their gimmicks have worn thin with this gamer. So, Microsoft and Sony seem to have my money for the foreseeable future. Good riddance, I say.

Anyone having issues with GWG? I "purchased' Project Cars. On my Xbox App it says owned, store page says installed, but nothing is there, not in ready to install either.

I seriously doubt it's gonna go on sale within this year. Nintendo knows they have stranglehold on their products and will only take the highest bidder of who gets what. Nearly every single loz product holds its value until told otherwise by Nintendo themselves and giving a digital discount within the same year of release isn't like Nintendo at all but who knows. Maybe they'll give people a 15% off coupon to buy on my Nintendo by the end of the year.

Might be that the license is associated with a different system you own? I ran I to that with a game code I bought a while back. Had to go in and reassociate the license to my system... Can't recall how offhand, though.

Hmmmm, that is interesting. Should not apply to me though. I have only signed in on my Xbox and never anywhere else

Mine is the same way. I know for a while it showed up under my games when it wasn't installed and I thought that was odd but now it's not showing under either one. Good thing I'm obsessed with FH3 I guess...

Only reason I got one was because of a great deal on Craigslist. You may try looking there to see if anyone is selling a good bundle.

Sorry to go off topic in the Switch thread, but storeparser found a few drops yesterday which I presume are price drops:

Bejeweled 3 dropped from $15 to $5

Zuma's Revenge and Feeding Frenzy 2 dropped from $10 to $5 each

Also, Shovel Knight's price change occurred.

I never watched the other shows on that channel so all I know is Morgan Webb > Adam Sessler

Yeah after watching the ifixit tear it down video I'm guessing Nintendo is making a pretty profit off the switch. Between the expensive controllers and system itself my guess is honestly around $100 profit per switch system.

Luckily Nintendo sent out a lot of Wii U Zelda copies to Wal-Marts at least. The few I've been in they had 20+ copies so if your looking into grabbing some I don't think finding a copy is going to be a issue.

Reminds me I have to dump my copies of Smash Bros U and Mario Kart for when I eventually get a Switch. I'd imagine a lot of games get ported/enhanced for the Switch. Pokken is gonna be another one considering it had no DLC and a lot of extra characters in Japan arcades.

Anyone wanting a Switch at this exact moment either has money to burn or isn't a true gamer.
True gamers don't buy systems at launch?

If anything I appreciate those people because they beta test the systems out for us. All those day one issues are exactly that. We need someone to buy systems day one just like we need people to buy games day one. If everyone waited for a sale on systems and games the game industry wouldn't exist.

fuck off with that noise.

Thank you Battlefield 1 free play for saving me some money. I was all set to buy that bundle for $50 and go digital with TF2, but it's just not that fun for me.

I grabbed a WiiU pro controller at Wal-Mart for $25 so I'll be good for Zelda. Was going to get a Switch, went to Target and got the slip for a neon model. Went home to take care of my dogs since it said they'd hold it until 10. Show up at 8:30 and get told "sorry, we sold the last neon, we have 2 gray left". Morons can't count, but saved me some cash on the impulse buy.

how are they not true gamers?
I may have not said that the way I intended to. I'm at work and was going back and forth on my wording and was dealing with a work thing when I posted and then couldn't check back in time to edit it before there were replies.

I'm certainly not in position to question who is a "true gamer" since by default there is no definition as it's completely subjective.

I do stand by my "money to burn" comment though. When you think about what else you could get for that money in the gaming world there's no way it makes sense to buy now when you take everything into account. Especially the lack of games. If you're a Nintendo fan you probably would already have a Wii U and when they launch an identical version of the flagship title of a new system on a 4+ year old system as well, then get that and wait for improvements to come.

I've bought plenty of systems day one so my comment wasn't against that, it was more or less just about how terrible Nintendo is lately and why anyone would want to support their garbage out of the gate.

If you truly love Zelda and either a) don't have a Wii U or b) want to play it for an hour or two away from your TV, then have at it.

Sorry for the long off topic post. We're all true gamers by our own definitions.

Strange it not showing as installed. I reported it not showing up on Ready to Install (this is after I deleted it) and MS said it is prob a glitch that will hopefully be corrected with an update.

Just curious, did you update your game? Did this happen after the update? Haven't run into anything like that.

Anyone here in Tennessee? What's up with that garbage restaurant PAL's, the food on their site looks horrible

It's super popular locally. Great milkshakes, great fries, I'm told the sweet tea is the best around, but I don't drink that swill. I like the burgers, sandwiches and hot dogs, but they aren't as good as the fries and shakes. A lot of people love all the food though. It's a local chain that is in SWVA, NE TN and western NC. I know several people have tried to get them to expand further through franchising, but the owners want more control for quality purposes. There's a Facebook page dedicated to getting them to expand to Knoxville. Found it when I was in Knoxville on business from Atlanta and I tried to look up a Knoxville location to take my boss and coworkers to. When we lived in Atlanta my wife would insist on going to Pal's at least once every trip back to visit. The place makes enough to expand if they wanted to. They need longer drive thru lines (drive thru only except the original store which does have dine in) as the lines always extend into the streets during meal times. I'd recommend trying it. It's good and something you can't get everyday since you don't live locally.

Thanks, meant to include that one and got distracted at work.

Did anyone finish Layers of Fear? I just finished it, but towards the end my right analog was going crazy. If I paused the game the stick drift would return to normal. Just wondering if it's a bug or not because I didn't see a answer on google. I'm trying out Borderlands and a few others games and I got 0 stick drift. I also tried a second controller and it did the same thing in Layers of Fear. This was near the end of the game.

Game was alright, not amazing but not horrible either. Interesting take on the horror genre.

Also the game is REALLY short. Like 4-5 hours long, maybe even shorter if you cheat with the puzzles.

You do know that you could have used the binoculars to spot the parts correct? ;) That mission was easy. I spent most of my time being stealthy and just popping the guys with the sniper after spotting the parts. I'd use the rock to distract them and then melee them to death.

Thanks! I appreciate the insight.
It isn't a bad game by any means. I enjoyed the campagin and thought it was decent enough.

Maybe it was the game messing you Eternal Darkness style?

So fucking hung over today. FML. My buddies wedding was today so we took him out last night. I blacked out wicked early and was apparently pretty belligerent. Somehow made it home safe last night (wasn't driving) and just managed to get through the wedding. +1 for me!

I finished Layers of Fear and its DLC and had no issues like that. Also 4-5 hours for a $19.99 indie horror game is not "REALLY short".

I'm gonna refrain from making a joke here because it would be in poor taste, and some things shouldn't really be joked about. But know that I'm thinking it in my head

Yeah weddings are a good time to just celebrate the shit out of things. AHh the memories, which I actually do remember but yeah I can relate to that post haha.

SO I have finished all the FH3 challenges and now I'm off doing Halo Wars 2 ones. Lol got two sweet rides from that in FH3, Jaguar XJ 220 H.E. & a Mercedes A45 AMG H.E. Both are pretty sweet. Now I'm going for Blitz packs, hoping something sweet is there too.

Had a Forza Horizon 3 achievement glitch unlock for me today.  Was trying to get the Lancia ski jump one on Blizzard Mountain.  I had gotten 700+ feet on a jump (needing 825 for the achievement), and was rewinding and trying to line myself up better with the danger sign and it popped.  I checked the sign's leaderboard and somehow it registered me with a 940+ foot jump.  Can't remember if the jump I had just rewound was stopped at around 470 feet before rewinding and it totaled both the forward and backward distances.

You can purchase an ethernet adapter for the Wii/Wii U. That's what I did for the Wii U when I was having strange wifi issues after I moved the Wii U to a different location in the house. I read on Nintendo's troubleshooting page that the Wii U should be within 5 feet of your wireless router which I think is a silly requirement. The ethernet adapter can be purchased directly from Nintendo:

A question about this week's deals.

Is it worth getting Titanfall 2 deluxe edition for $8 more than the standard edition?  Is there DLC included in Titanfall 2 deluxe edition or is it just powerups, multiplayer maps, and such? I am really only interested in the single player campaign.
