Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Was Batman: Arkham Origins the one that folks were saying can be skipped?  It's part of the Gamestop 4/20 sale and I was thinking of picking it up for a few years after I finally play Arkham City

R.I.P. Chris Cornell. Hadd an amazing voice, I was lucky enough to see him live a few years back.
Devastated as well, just wow and it was suicide. Sad. I got into drumming because of Soundgarden and Metallica. Ahh, that's rough. I went biking today and listened to my Soundgarden Pandora station, fuck. Soundgarden, Nirvana, Audioslave, Pearl Jam, Foo FIghters, Smashing Pumpkins...

Trials HD = Rage Quit. Then start again...love hate with this one.
The Trials games have been a phenomenon, like playing the tables on Pinball FX 2. I'll go back to the game and play it later and all of a sudden a new level of accessibility in my playstyle opens up so many new experiences, it's just awesome. It's almost like magic, you're like holy shit I just did that. I used to suck at both in the beginning, but gradually got better and ultimately changed the way those games are played.

(Waiting for the snarky unfunny BC complaints.)

I only bought NBA Jam and Bomberman so far but I highly recommend both. I was playing both last night and they are so fun! I have bomberman on older systems but it's such a great couch game. NBA Jam feels a lot like the SNES version, the faces in that game are ridiculous, lol, it feels like someone used Microsoft paint to stick them in. The gameplay is so fun that I can get past the faces.
I just kept playing Bomberman last night, checking out all the arenas, all the different modes. It was pretty hilarious at one point I was throwing three rocket bombs across the stage at the A.I. hahaha. I am still a bit rusty though, (my spatial awareness was not good last night lol).

New Life is Strange announced.
Won't be at E3.

Still need to beat the first one.
Holy shit! So glad digital episodic delivery has worked out for some devs. That's awesome news!

If you haven't played Geometry Wars then that is the best $1.24 you will ever spend in gaming.

Torchlight is another great game if you like Diablo type games.
Ahh man I remember the first time discovering Geometry Wars in the PGR game's garage. Good times.

Torchlight, is the perfect podcast game. I can run levels and quests in that game for hours listening to my fav podcasts.

Totally honest, I don't know who the Rushmore of music is. I Know the four horsemen of thrash metal, but that's it. So I'm just going to assume Jefferson Starship is one of the bands because they built that city. And Rush because you can't have a Rushmore without Rush, Right there in the title.

Yes it wasn't well received. Some people liked it. I thought it was crap though and bailed on it. I picked up for like $8 and didn't think it was worth it. If you are huge Batman fan maybe worth a try for $5.

Few games have aged as well as Half Life 2. The graphics show their age compared to modern stuff (esp. character models) but are still beautiful and quite cinematic, gameplay is as fluid as ever. But dang, this game came out in 2004, same year as the first Killzone and Fable. Those are also good games, but no one is championing their visuals 13 years later.
Might be unpopular but I'm not enjoying half life 2 much at all, I'm sure I'd have liked it way more 13 years ago

Are the best weapons and gear only obtainable only by doing missions that require playing with others in Destiny 1?  Did Destiny 2 fix this?  They did talk about how you could do things solo but they lost me when they described Guided Games which essentially group you with others lol.  Sometimes it feels good and more rewarding taking on a mission and completing it solo.

No love for Temple of the Dog?

I never fully appreciated Pearl Jam until some quality live recordings came out. Songs that bored me to death from studio recording (Off He Goes, for example) became some of my favorites on their live albums.

Alice in Chains. Layne Stanley was a great singer but the songs they produced as a band all kinda sounded the same.

Also, Smashing Pumpkins would replace STP in my book. I know their sound changed a lot from the early 90s, but so did Pearl Jam's.
Temple of the Dog = Pearl Jam + Soundgarden so that would be a way of cheating and getting both bands on Mt. Rushmore.

STP is the George Washington of grunge music, the song Plush is grunge

I definitely advise skipping it. I'm a big fan of the trilogy and believe me, if it had any redeeming qualities I would recommend it. Everything from the level design to boss fights to the story is completely uninspired. I guess it did help me fully appreciate Rocksteady's work, so there's that. Some would say to try it for the right price, but what about your time? There's a 100% chance that you have vetter games in your backlog right now than AO. Well, you already said you haven't played the whole trilogy yet, so there you go lol.

Well, we're talking the Mount Rushmore of grunge. None of those bands would be on my overall Mount Rushmore.

I couldn't really get into it either. I blame it on the health packs. Having to hunt for health packs is tedious. There was one point in particular where I was at low health at a checkpoint...so frustrating. I'm 100% aware that this is just my issue though and most love the game. I do see why people enjoyed it, but I just kind of stopped playing and never finished it.

Mechanically it's impossible to do the raids entirely on your own. I get the sentiment but they're designed around co-op and I'd rather they not dumb them down for people too stubborn to play with others. The original Vault of Glass Raid is by far the best multiplayer experience I've had in close to 10 years.

The other best gear is pretty much all available through Crucible modes. Not really anything they can do there. They did dumb those down so pretty anyone willing to put in the time can get them at least.

Really, you can get to max light level or very close without this co-op stuff, but you're really not playing the game as intended if you never do any co-op, and you only really need to be max light for these activities anyways.

The Raid weapons haven't ever really been the best guns in the game, only briefly before they nerfed and then basically removed the Vex Mythoclast. They Raid stuff looks cool but functionally you're usually better off with other stuff that you can get in any mode.

Apparently I was the only one bumping Tupac and Dre back in the day instead of grunge music. The picture is getting much clearer now

Maybe specific items are not obtainable easily in solo, but items of near or max light value are easily obtainable solo with the Age of Triumph event that's been going on for a while that flushes high-end equipment into most of the rest of the game. The way they're handling solo players in Destiny 2 is pretty much exactly the same as the first game, but just built in LFG tools into the game itself to make up for their lack of matchmaking options before. You won't be able to do raids solo, outside of glitches, but you'll have better options to group up should you want to do that.

Guided Games are for the activities that didn't allow matchmaking (Raids, certain types of strikes, Trials of Osiris) that they thought couldn't work despite GGs being the exact solution they should've offered at some point in Destiny. Let the vets be able to invite randoms into their fireteam so they can experience that siloed content and offer them special rewards if they're not an asshole during that session.

Chris Cornell is one of my favorite singer/songwriter/artists. I was lucky enough to see Soundgarden live twice.

This is apparently Soundgarden's last song of their final performance:

Wow, Sony's got a whole day to come up with ways to counter things from MS's presser.

Yes, I have put about 2-3 hours into Narco Road thus far. It is a bit different than the main game in that you have to earn "fans/followers" to unlock stuff. You do this via stunt car jumps, aerial stuff, off-roading, and drifts.

You start by making a new character. There are new turbo-enabled cars and monster trucks. There are 4 large regions. This is entirely self contained from the main game. Nothing carries over except for your UPlay unlocks. It is a lot of fun and it doesn't take itself seriously at all.

(When I first started the DLC, I got the 75G achievement for completing all story missions - which was an error cuz I'm only 1/3 done with the base game.)
Thank you. It's odd I have to make another character, hope it doesn't affect campaign character since he's level 11

By the skin of my teeth I got another Elite controller #4 . If this one catches drift Im just going to go back to my Titanfall controller.

It's more fun triggering you.
Hello, welcome to the thread. Unfortunately we don't have any open slots for Thread Dickhead, but feel free to apply again in the future!

Because the concept is so goddamn backwards that no one in their right mind would think it would be an issue until they run into it?
Yes, but, when you had asked about it, it was answered a handful of times probably within the last 50 posts. When you come into a thread and don't read ANYTHING in it and then ask a question that has been answered ad nauseum, what do you expect?

90s band Rushmore
Wu Tang Clan
Nine Inch Nails
Guns N Roses
Red Hot Chili Peppers

Love Pearl Jam and they have greater staying power but they're 5th for me in just 90s

Pearl Jam is the second greatest American rock band of all time as far as I'm concerned, only behind R.E.M.

I'm in Columbus on a business trip and Soundgarden was supposed to be here tomorrow night. I'm devastated, as I'm as big of a 90's grunge-head as anyone. A friend even called me at 6:15 AM to tell me because he knew I would want to know ASAP given my love for him. When I later found out it was a suicide, it actually turned a lot of my sadness to anger and helped me deal with it more than if it had been something beyond his control. Just another case where you simply never know what people are going through when they seem to have it all.

Half life 2 is pretty cool. I definitely would have loved it years ago. Just wish I could play the first one and enjoy it
There is a fan made remake of the first Half Life on Steam called Black Mesa. From what I've played it's really well done. It's got Valves seal of approval and everything, but last I heard the end levels weren't finished yet.

Picked up Arkanoid Live and anybody here ever played DX Ball 2?! I've been spoiled, they have an automatic feature that zaps your last block if you can't happen to hit it. The achievements for this game though, shit, gotta be perfect!? wow.

Clearly Taito hasn't been keeping up with the times. Capcom's Block Block opens an exit somewhere on the screen if you take too long, giving you a way out if you can't reach the last block. Breakquest drops a power up (typically some kind of weapon) if you're having trouble hitting the last block. Arkanoid Live! gives you... nothing. Ugh. Apparently my time isn't worth much to Taito/Square.

Military time? What's wrong with you?

All Music Mount Rushmore:
Prince, Wu-Tang, Metallica, The Eagles.

Not necessarily the most notable. Just my favs covering a number of genres. All music would be something like Chuck Berry, some dead composer, boring choices like that if you did importance. Well, Prince could still be on it. #goat

No way...I listened to hip hop almost exclusively from 6th grade to junior year of college. Everybody in my high school listened to Dre and Pac and I was at a rural high school in Iowa, lol. They also listened to country, rock, etc. I was the only one listening to Wu, Outkast, Gangstarr, Common, Tribe, Organized Konfusion etc etc though.

But come on...Nirvana, Pearl Jam et al were inescapable back then. Just as Dre and Pac were.
