Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Free trial is live, downloading everything I don't own. Xbox.com shows they are selling Game Pass time for 5 days, no price though.

If anyone happens to not own Gears of War  3 or BIoshock Infinite, can you see if the DLC/Season Pass is included?

For Game Pass:  In case it helps anyone else, I'm going through the list and looking for easy achievement games.  I'm ignoring all games that were GwG.  I've gone through the XB1 games so far and these seem the easiest and most doable within the trial period:

The Swapper - short and easy

Mega Coin Squad - short and easy

Pumped BMX+ - easy, but there's a sharp learning curve

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 - easy, but long (point and click, Telltale-like I'm assuming)

Interesting that the Bioshock games are the 360 versions and not the remasters. Anyway, I'll probably do a trial at some point next month and go through them. Then I can wait a couple of years for a really low price on the remasters once I feel like playing through them again.

Think I'm going to hold off on using my trial for when there's a game that I really want to try. Right now, nothing there that I don't already own.

A handful of titles in the game pass that were on my BC sale watch list, but likely twice that many that I was considering that aren't included, yet anyway.  Still, no complaints, I have plenty to keep me busy.

Not really a whole lot for me at this point, but at least it's a decent selection. I'll probably download Saints Row 4 on Xbone just to make a custom Boss to import into Gat Out of Hell, that annoyed me in the opening, especially since mine was female.

This is going to be good if you want to burn through short stuff for fun or achievments though. I see a good 4 or 5 games I'll mess around with during this 2 week trial and the free month you get from T-Mobile during E3, but I don't see myself paying for a subscription until a bunch of different stuff is rotated in.

This is getting too confusing.  I won't know if I own stuff that I purchased, own stuff from GWG, or have stuff from GamePass.  And then it feels extra dumb when I have purchased a game, then it was GWG, and then on GamePass.  Both Microsoft and Sony need to figure out a way to clean all this up so we don't feel like we're wasting money or getting overloaded with confusion with all their various services.  I'm inclined to ignore the GamePass service just because I feel like i'll always be kicking myself for paying a fee for stuff that I previously purchased once or maybe twice.  Maybe even three times if it was a remastered version...

Huh? I've never been able to purchase something twice digitally from Microsoft....

The only game I see on their that interests me is Shantae (it's never going to go on sale again!) and as of right now I'm definitely not interested in subscribing.  So here's a question... can you download games during the trial period?  Also, once your sub is up... do you lose access to the downloaded games?  I would assume so since it wouldn't make sense to let people download a ton of stuff during a trial or just a month sub - but how would they know if you disconnected your X1?

One last thing, are the discounts available through the trial?

$120 is the cost of two games. It's not expensive for the year. What depends on whether it is worth it, is how much turnover there is every month. If only 10-15% of the catalog every month, then that limits the potential value. However, the value included could still be worth it. I suggest everyone keeps track of everything they play through game pass, then look of the historical sales figure, factor in what you already own, factor in replayability/return to game potential of game pass games, factor in zero ownership. I would imagine unless you own hundreds of games, you will be able to find $9.99 of value every month, even if you did not get "ownership" through game pass.

What ring are you in? What OS build do you have?
Public build.

Anyone else having trouble accessing the Microsoft rewards site?
Haven't been able to access it for five days.

Why is the physical release of Shadow Warrior 2 only going to PS4 and PC?

https://www.specialreservegames.com/reserves/shadow-warrior-2
Microsoft has a mandate of 20k+ (or more?) copies to be made. Sony allows as little as 2.5k I believe.

It's why Yatcht games had to back out of making disc copies of Shovel Knight and why you don't see anything on limit run games. One of the stupid policies from MS outside of the supposed indie policy which may or may not exist where you need new content if your game launched first on Sonys consoles or Nintendos. They say it doesn't exist anymore but thats only supposedly if you have a big name indie title.

Xbone side of that Game Pass list is alright, though obviously some omissions are lame (like Bioshocks not being the remastered versions). Decided to count them, and I'm only missing 16 of 40 and I don't even buy Xbone games that often.. (Looks like 11 of the 40 have been GWG and I've bought the other 13, including Gears and Halo which I've got on disc).

Meaning that 72 of the games are BC games which will probably remain the majority of the games available. I own pretty much all of them except Comix Zone, Bound by Flame and N+. I'm not too sore about that though since only 2 of the 360 games in the Pass were ones I bought during the sale last week (the only ones I was missing from the Alpha Game Pass, Hexic 2 and Monday Night Combat), and I'd rather focus on the Xbone games if I was a subscriber anyway.

If you're a sucker and buying them for full price at release and don't have GCU or Prime, maybe. :bouncy:

I agree with the rest of your post though.

Honestly, just subscribe one month at a time and wait to see what changes after a few days if you're done with the current selection.

It's not like it costs extra for month to month.

Shantae was the game that most caught my eye as well. Already have it on Steam but been wanting to play it on the big screen and pay as little to do so as possible. The other best games I saw that I don't have already are Mad Max, Jumpjet Rex and Blood Bowl 2 (Blood Bowl is $40! regularly). There's some other good games as well like SRIV, Megaman and DMC: Definitive, I just happen to own them already since they've been really cheap.

I think this pass would be absolutely worth it if they added more good short indie games with very little replay value that just aren't really worth their purchase price. That and insanely overpriced crap like Blood Bowl 2.

Already own 53 of them, wow. Most of them were GWG, and also quite a few of them are included in Rare Replay though. I've seen a few nice ones, I'll probably rush through them in the trial.

Can we activate the trial later? Or is it a limited offer for this pre-launch windows?

Wasn't one of the Shante games in Games with Gold?

Edit: nevermind. Was thinking of Giana Sisters

So I guess the website got an update because I can now remote install Xbone/BC titles from the website onto my Xbone.

As cool as that is, it's extra cool because my Sales & Specials app/Banjo Bundle purchases are also showing up as eligible for remote install meaning that at least part of the store website is now showing that I own them.

Unfortunately the 360 side of the store is still not saying I own them, but I'm hoping it will someday. :wall:

No.

I remember at least one game doing that. Bought The Crew bundle with the first expansion/season pass and then later when the base game went GWG, it let me "purchase" the base game for free for whatever reason. Checking the Xbox store on the console, it will allow me to pay $30 for the base game to "own forever" despite already owning the Complete Edition, as it says in my order history. I don't know if Xbox Live has a way to see specific ownership status of a specific game.

Any opinions on the Dead rising 3 season pass? I have the vanilla on disk......
Not worth $7.50. Sell your disc for like $5 (GS is only giving $2 for it, so don't bother going there) and buy the Apocalypse Edition either now or at the inevitable 66% - 75% off ($10 or $7.50).

Either way, the Super Ultra Blah Blah Blah DLC is worth $2.50 and isn't included in the Season Pass or Apocalypse Edition, so grab that.

Anyone know if the Forza 4 servers are being shutdown? I can't find the info anywhere online but every time I try to access the auction house/storefront, it says the servers are currently unavailable.

Not so much actually purchasing a game more than once but having several ways to have access to it:

He buys it digitally, but then it becomes GwG so he either paid for it when he could have gotten it for free or it was a wasted GwG title for him, and then it is part of the game pass so he wasted his money with buying it or wasted his GwG... maybe

ICYMI, Far Cry 5 cover art at the spoiler.

Airplanes, a wolf, religious cult, hillbillies. I'm in.

Looking into it, there are only 27 games on the Game Pass I don't already own digitally, though the Sega stuff and a few others are technically on disc for previous gens.

LMFAO. So the gift card, which I wasn't able to use to buy 360 games before that sale ended, was going to be used to buy the very same games that are now in that Game Pass thing! What luck! Every game I actually paid for (Skate 3, Ikaruga, etc.) ended up not being, and every one I was GOING to buy (Keflings, Samurai, Ageof Booty, etc) did. Holy cow. Thanks MS.

360 list is pretty good. Xbox One list is pretty teriible because its so many previous GWG freebies like WWE & Sunset, and Gears/Rare Replay are like $4.50 combined at GameStop right now.

As I said before, the Game Pass is fantastic for people who are new to X1 (even better if they didn't own a 360). But it's going to be difficult for current owners, especially the people here who buy a ton of games, to justify it unless they just stop buying stuff.

Outside of maybe a very occasional one-month sub to kind of just rent a game and finish it, I seriously doubt I will pay for it. Even then the cost of such game would probably be cheap enough when it hits GP to not bother.

I am not 100% certain but in the past you could not use digital currency / gift cards to buy subscriptions like Gold or EA access. I would imagine you will not be able to use your GC to buy a month of Game pass either. Hope I am wrong.

If someone has a XBox One game on disc and it goes GWG they can just "buy" the GWG through the XBox One store and trade the disc right?  They don't need to delete and re down the game (Assuming it is the same game (not GOTY vs plain).

I have done this with FH3 (digital code at GS) and Halo MCC (cdkeys key).  I didn't have to download the game again or use the disc anymore.

A few updates to the store:

Speedrunners will have a Deluxe Verison too. Safe to assume the GWG will be the standard version.

Standard - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/speedrunners/c3pb0bp0g04l

Deluxe "includes all add-ons" - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/speedrunners-deluxe-edition/bz0bq8csbj6h

Overwatch GOTY Edition - $38.99 on sale until next week.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/overwatch-game-of-the-year-edition/c0qn5m9ztc38

Crossout is coming out 5/30. Looks like a Mad Max MMO... so a MMMMO. Get it?

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/crossout/c0fzngpnqqrq

Get Even was supposed to come out this week - it has been delayed until 6/23.

And finally... a game called Hello Neighbor is coming 8/29.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/hello-neighbor/c0g1l18dt97k

Hello Neighbor is a stealth horror game about sneaking into your neighbor's house to figure out what horrible secrets he's hiding in the basement. You play against an advanced AI that learns from your every move. Really enjoying climbing through that backyard window? Expect a bear trap there. Sneaking through the front door? There'll be cameras there soon. Trying to escape? The Neighbor will find a shortcut and catch you.

You are correct. If only Sony could wrap their heads around this logic...

Wow, ACIII is 16.81GB.  Surely this includes all the DLC in the download (not that it's playable unless you actually own it though).

No reason for me to even waste a trial on Game Pass. Great idea for new owners or non CAGs that don't have 100+ games already on the backlog. I think I'm at 61 X1 games installed and 68 ready to install. I think I've "finished" about 4.

Most CAGs already have a backlog that's at least as long as the list of games that are included, so from my perspective, it's not worth it to purchase a Game Pass. Hell, I could play the games that I already own for the 360 and the Xbox One for the next 5 years and still not be done with my backlog. So, it's a big no for me. That's the same reason that I passed on a GeForce subscription on my Shield TV - too much of a backlog for the investment to be worth it.

I don't know this has been mentioned. There will be a Fallout 4 free play weekend for May 25th - 28th on Xbox One. Also on Steam.

That Hello Neighbor looks interesting.

There's a free alpha PC demo.

Fallout 4 is having a free weekend 5/25 thru 5/28.
Expect the following:
- Progress/achievements carry over if you purchase the full game.
- The game will be discounted this weekend.
- There will be at least one thread on CAG about it: FALLOWT FORE IS PHREE ON XBOCks 1 GuYZ!

Powerstar Golf full game unlock worth $5 at this point?
Powerstar golf is awesome - that is a great deal. I paid $20 for full unlock a couple of years ago and I feel it was totally worth it. $5 for full unlock is no brainer if you like golf games.
It's fun. I missed it when it was GwG for some other countries. That was before I knew you could get the GwG Xbox One games from other countries and they would work for my US account.

I paid $5 last time it went on sale. Sort of like Mario Golf. :)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Games_with_Gold_games

Replaced with the full version of Powerstar Golf in Germany, Russia, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil. Can be downloaded to Australian Xbox LIVE accounts via Xbox.com marketplace.
