Another thing to note is I live in a top-floor condo, and there's a skylight. The living room gets bright as fuck. HDR is meant to be used in like pitch blackness. Not a great combo. But at night, it looks pretty legit. Just not earth shattering.
 
Alright sorry guys for my excitement earlier this afternoon. I called my local gamestop and they said whoever put their name down on a list in store to wanting to pre order it whenever it does go up, will get a email first on any details/promos for or towards the xb1x.

Or basically if you want it, you'll get information on it first hand before anyone else is what im guessing what it is.

Been thinking about upgrading to a 4k TV but not in a huge rush, probably will wait until after I move which isn't really planned yet. I currently have a Westinghouse, it's okay. I bought it randomly a couple years ago and was stupid and didn't do much research. Thankfully I haven't had horrible problems where it dies like they do for some people, but it does have an annoying problem where if I accidentally change the channel it resets the tv. Fortunately it doesn't happen too often, usually only when it's dark and I've taken my contacts out or I've had a couple of drinks. I'm wondering if it's because I don't have it hooked up to cable or because it's not a great brand.

Those saves are probably the largest save files I have, and it took SEVERAL minutes for me to download them when I first booted the game on my :xb1: console. That seems fairly normal, as long as the download progress bar continues to move (however slowly).

Thanks for the response, glad it's not just me haha. Finally got back into the Xbox and I'm loving it so far, the console and controller is nicer imo. Though the dashboard/navigating through it is an absolute mess right now.

 
On Topic: Can anyone help me sift through these sales? I see many of them have gotten middling reviews and normally would probably pass on everything but don't want to miss out on anything I'd really like. 

I like a story driven game with a good atmosphere and production values. Examples of recent games I've loved (and would have been sad to miss) that have received mediocre reviews include Unravel and Never Alone. I do find the 8 bit graphic style of so many indy titles this generation off-putting.

For example, does the Turing test have much of a story? Is it compelling? Or is it basically a Portal type puzzle game?

How does Oddworld New N Tasty hold up? Based on screenshots it seems the game is pretty with the update. Any story to go along with the platforming/puzzling?

Got Oddworld New'N'Tasty because the wife had never played it and the concept held up very well, the controls and a few gameplay elements have been modernized for the better.
There's a decent (dark humor)story but it's not going to win any literary awards.

Worth noting that on top of the graphical/audio update & modernization of controls there's a little new content as well.

Turing Test has a pretty heavy story element so far. Dialogue and various logs separated with Portal style puzzles minus the portal gun. Haven't played Oddworld, I know it has story but I don't know how in depth it is.

As for the rest of the games not mentioned so far, I'd say the ones that have a somewhat strong reputation are:

-Crypt of the Necrodancer

-Jotun

-The Magic Circle

-Rouge Legacy

Of these I think Magic Circle is the only one that sounds like it will be to your taste.

FH3 took a few mins too when I plugged in my new XBox One S. The progress indicator kind of sucks so you have no idea if it is downloading something large or stuck or what. Worked fine though. Just had to wait it out.

Maybe it depends on the game? I play Spelunky every morning before work with no issues, but DAO probably has a larger file to load.

I also wanted to say that the Xbox One weekly sale has officially kicked the Steam Summer Sale's ass. That is all.

While you guys are out TV shopping you should definitely take a look at LG's OLED lineup.  The saturation and uniformity of these sets is amazing, and you get the 'blacker blacks' of plasma and the brightness and speed of LEDs.   Each pixel generates its own light so no backlight is needed.

No doubt I sound like a paid sponsor, but when a set is multiple thousands of dollars and lasts for a decade, I wanted to make sure peeps in the thread are aware.  I haven't delved into all the legal ins and outs, but it seems LG has an exclusive on some aspects of the technology, so other brands like Samsung, and TV salesmen in general, aren't necessarily unbiased in their opinions of the technology:

My thoughts exactly. I have a 2015 Samsung JS8500 and I can't afford to keep buying into the newest tech and upgrading my TV frequently I definitely want to replace this one at some point with an OLED Tv. I think I jumped the gun about a year too soon by getting this TV just to have 4K so I can wait a few years until they standardize OLED with HDMI 2.1 and whatever else they come up with lol at a more reasonable price.

One thing I'm confused about though, are you saying for the time being LG has something with the OLED tech that the other companies don't? I don't have anything against LG but I think in the future I'll stick with Sony like someone else said earlier. Samsung sets are great (don't get me wrong) but everyone I've had for the past few years has had some kind of quirk that I can't understand. One had a blue tint over the entire screen when put into game mode that I couldn't get rid of and the 8500 I have now has color banding issues with HDR on my Xbox one S and PS4 pro...
 
Thanks for the help this morning GunstarRed with the King challenge in FH3 Forzathon.  Sorry I bailed so quickly after we finished.  Had to be on time today at work.  

I just need to do the drift/jump (Ebisu skill) thing to finish this weeks Forzathon.

If anyone else still needs to boost the king thing send me a message.  If I am able to get on I will.

The first time we did it was the 4 events thing and King happened to be first.  The second time we did a free roam thing and I just drove to a King event.  First time I put the controller down for like 30 seconds and it disconnected me for inactivity.  But he won the round and it counted for him.

Forza Horizon 3 weekend Challenges are up.

Ebisu Style is a combo of Great Drift + Great Air + Great Drift (essentially drifting into a jump then continuing the drift when landing) Easier to do with a S2 car over the big sand dunes south of the airport.

Jimbo already helped me with King, but I don't mind helping others. If my status is YouTube, It's my daughter using my X1. Any other time I'm free to help.

If you plan to attempt King legit, you can increase your odds by doing lower class cars like C or D which a lot less people play. All my legit King wins are from those classes. Much faster to do it boosting in Freeroam though.

Indeed. Check out that first link describing LG's acquisition of some key Kodak technology. One of the reasons companies like Sony and Panasonic are now using some LG panels is because they want OLED technology and LG is the main supplier. My current tv is 3D and I love watching movies in 3D. It'll be a shame when 3D is completely fazed out.

 
VR killed 3D.

It does suck that Sony's simulview tech never took off. Tried it a few times with Motorstorm on my PS monitor and irs very cool

Only through letter E in TA's Alphabet Challenge.  Knocked out C (Completionist in Gears 2 JP), D (Digging Gold in Forza Motorsport 6) and E (Everyday I'm Shovelin' in Forza Horizon 3) last night.  Sucked that I had to unlock an F to unlock the final Blizzard Mountain Bucket List challenge for the E.

F through I look to be fairly easy for me to knock out - start Blast Corps in Rare Replay, win a Blizzard Mountain race without snow tires in FH3, beat the deleted scene guns blazin' in Gears 2 JP and win 10 Spider games in Solitaire Collection.  Not sure if I have an easy J in the TA list of games I've started, though I might be able to find one in the backlog.

Will do. I've already checked through my games and once I find something for J, it looks like the next troublesome one for me will be Q. Starting games for the first time in Rare Replay knock out a number of them, and I should be able to get at least 3 more from Gears 2 JP.
