Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Off topic but has anyone received their rebates for purchases from Xbox Rewards lately? I think mine's been stuck at 2600 credits, even though I should get some credit back for buying Watch Dogs. Also, the next deposit date seems to have completely disappeared now. 

Anyone know what's wrong?

It is pretty much over. From Terms and Conditions

It's either close to dead or getting revamped. They stopped taking surveys a couple of months ago.

If that was/is the case, shouldn't they have made the credit deposits automatically? Dammit Microsoft!

 
More than likely revamped, the survey section returned this month but still no survey for September.

Going to throw out my experiences with sharing digital content on Xbox 360.
 
For Xbox Live Arcade games, you generally just have to be connected to Xbox Live when you first start up the game. If you are disconnected, you can still play the full game, but obviously lose online functions. If you quit the game and return to the dashboard, you must be signed onto X box Live to play the full game again.  There is at least one exception to this rule: The Walking Dead Season 1. If you are ever disconnected from Xbox Live, you have to ten minutes to sign back in or the game resets to the dashboard. That brings me too....
 
 
Games on Demand
 
The first console you download a GoD title on, every profile can play that game unrestricted. 
 
If you recover your account on a different console however, you would have to be signed into Xbox Live for the game to even start. If you are ever kicked off XBL for any reason, you have 10 minutes to sign back in.
 
As for license transfer, you can do them every 3 months I believe. I've done license transfers several times and every time I've done it, it doesn't appear to have done anything to restrict the license on my old console. It just creates a new license. 
 
Do with this information as you please. Microsoft can and will ban you for whatever the hell they want and won't tell you why.
 
Just booted up some Halo Reach multiplayer. I think Swat might be one of my favorite MP modes of all time, I'm really looking forward to getting my friends back home in on this when it goes GWG in a few weeks. Pretty sure they might be the only people on earth who don't own the game haha, but maybe it will generate an interest in the game again and get some more players online.

Anyone play World at War lately? I'm thinking about dropping the $15 (10 w/ Gamestop coupon) down for a digital copy if only for zombies, but active / working MP would seal the deal. I remember playing it like a year ago, and there were a fair amount of people, but I would say maybe 1 in every 10 games was just stupid kids hacking, which was kind of annoying.

I've seen this as well but it was a brief mention buried in an announcement of something else about the Xone release. Hopefully nothing has changed since they haven't confirmed any details or even talked about that part of it in months.

 
So have cheevos been weird with unlocking on Xbone recently?

I've had two different ones(one in PvZ, and one in BF4) reach 100% but not unlock right away.

The PvZ one unlocked while I was browsing in the games and apps app, and the BF4 one just unlocked in the middle of an online madden 25 game.

I haven't been on it a ton but to me they've been a bit wonky since that outage.

Just unlocked 3 SP BF4 achievements while in the Friends app.

Think it's a Live issue again.

 
far cry 3 has the worst fucking co-op ever. I've been trying to do the last two chapters all night. You can't choose to host your own game, you have to get lucky and hope there aren't any lobbys otherwise you'll end up playing sidetracked over and fucking over. Twice now my game has froze during rush hour and my teams are made up of the most down syndrome people you can find. 

Objective: Load up crates into car

My Team: uhhh durrr Im just going to sit here and be afk or keep shooting derrr. idk. there's not even a kick option when you host. or even a vote kick. gave devlopers are super talented and learn thousands and thousands of lines of code but can't be bothered by basic mp requirements?

does anyone want to just finish the last two maps? should be rush hour and payback. do it on casual, fast run, follow the objectives, etc. 

 
Resonance of Fate is excellent. Lost Odyssey was my favourite traditional J-RPG of last-gen, but Resonance of Fate was definitely the top of the pile for progressive J-RPGs (unless Nier fits into that category... nah, Nier defies categorization!). I've been hankering for a replay recently, despite thinking I'd had enough after my ~70 hours ~4 years ago. I might even have bitten on the GoD version for $10!

But $20 is a poor sale price.

I will use it being on sale on GoD as an excuse to suggest to everyone here to try to find a nice disc version at a good sale price. :) Meanwhile, I'll have to invest over a minute of my life to digging out my disc. An effort that could have been avoided if the GoD sale price had been $10 lower!

Wait, Gamestop DLC prices follow Live sales or your gonna get a $5 credit at GameStop and then just use that on Live?

It has couch co-op, man. Have a friend help you get your achievements.

It was free to play for silver mebers this past weekend. I had never played it before. i really liked it. I ended up playing all weekend and got most achivements. Its a decent shooter. The only problem I found was the spawn places do not move so once you find them you can just get in back of the spawn spot and sniper kill on respawn. Its not as polisshed as COD but it holds its own epecially since its free. i didnt pay a single thing and was able to kill people pretty easy. I do play alot of COD so i was a natural at this. Aim for the head.....Players take about 40 bullets to kill.

I already traded it in after 1000'ing the game, but I agree, the co-op completely sucks compared to the single-player. And it is difficult as hell so you'd better hope your whole group is on point unless you want to fail repeatedly.

It's a common glitch that's been happening since Day 1. It's happened to me personally maybe ten times. Get used to it they don't seem like they care about fixing it. Luckily they always unlock eventually but it's taken over 2 weeks for me sometimes.

Still really vague. The connect to Xbox Live part almost certainly just means that you have to go online to download the upgrade. I almost wonder if they won't do something like the PS4 upgrade for some games where you still had to have to disc and out it in the console to keep people from selling it off. Would be great if they would just clarify it and tell us how it's going to work.

Edit- On the page that news post links to it links to a game info page which says "if you own and have played [it] on your [XBL] account." So equally vague. At least we'll know soon enough, maybe tomorrow night if we're lucky.

Can anybody with retail version of Minecraft check for a code somewhere on the packaging or in the manual (if there is one) please? It would be great if my friends that do not own Minecraft could just rent it from Redbox and buy X1 version for $5.

I'll take Forza 5 free for a weekend. I've been wanting to rent it for awhile now, so perfect for me.

There isn't one and that's what leads me down the road of thinking you might have to have the disc. Especially because they're making sure to put that you have to own it in those brief mentions.
 
Pretty awesome about Forza 5. I suck ass at Forza and get very frustrated, although I fully recognize the fact that the series is of very high quality. I may never have tried Forza 5 unless it was at a bargain price. But with this being the full game and the achievements counting, I'd be a fool not to give it a chance.

I always liked Forza because you can turn on the assists and driving line and stuff and it's a much more relaxed experience (though you still have to brake and stuff) or you can crank it the other way if you want.

They had already said all you need is to have played Minecraft on your account in order to get it for $5. They know people will probably just rent the game to get it for $5.
 
That's how I played Forza 1 and 2, which I own. But even with the assists, I struggled with faster cars and certainly couldn't hang online. The internal vehicular modifications are something I know jack shit about. I actually was drawn to the first game for its amazing custom art options, but I'm no good at the design system those games employed.

However, I demoed Horizon and found it to be fun and more forgiving, so I bought that during the XBL sale. I planned to crack into that this weekend, but now plans have changed. My interest in the series right now is the highest it has been in years, so good timing on this free weekend offer.

We'll see but I'm not expecting it (though that would be nice so I could trade the disc). Every thing I've seen where they've mentioned it has been vague at best and even that requirement doesn't preclude others. However it winds up they've used unclear language and should have made it clear how it would work by now.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. C class cars are still my favorite because B and A and most S cars are powerful but then you can't keep them on the road. Ironically then you get above that and the cars are actually easier to drive in my opinion since they're largely race cars and not just huge engines. I was sad when they took C class off the featured MP game types (though I haven't checked lately to see if it changed again) because those are the only ones that really seem to have a large number playing.
