This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Darksiders 2 is worth a playthrough (not at $20 digital though, $10 retail is about the price I'd recommend paying for it) but I found it far inferior to the original. Not only is it glitchier and performs worse than the original (and it had some infuriating load times on the PS3 version, including about a 1 second load time every time I entered and exited the menu), it also shoehorned in a completely bland and unnecessary looting system. Just my two cents.
Wow I find that hard to believe that it could be glitchier. Maybe I should steer clear since I somehow found the game breaking glitch in Darksiders 1 where you couldn't pull out the proper gadget to continue the game. I have never tried to pick it back up again since then hoping they would patch it but I liked it up to that point.

Ouch. Never ran into glitches in my playthrough of Darksiders 1. I had a quest glitch out on me within the first 2 hours of Darksiders 2, it was a sidequest so it wasn't gamebreaking, but it did mean I couldn't 100% the game without an additional replay or starting over.

Free Sleeping Dogs + DLC sale, Darksiders II DLC sale, Far Cry 3 DLC sale, 2K DLC sale (though still excluding some things I want)... the last few days have been kind to my XBL wishlist.

How's ArcaniA ?
Rather bad from what I read. Then again my spouse enjoyed Venetica which scored lower then it. I might give it a whirl at that price considering Arcania Complete never got released for the 360, granted it was just the DLC. However, two achievements are supposedly unobtainable because the company went bankrupt before they could make a patch to fix the glitched achievements.

Hey, I've been gone a few days so sorry if it's already been discussed but what do you guys think about the Deluxe FC3 DLC? I loved the game, probably one of my favorites of the last couple of years. Does it add much gameplay? Achievements? I guess I could find out the latter pretty easily after I post this.

Sooo i have to spend 185$ in order to get 3,30$ back as xbox live rewards member at the highest 'my gamerscore' tier. Thats a 1.8% off :oldman:  Well at least they don't give away paper birthday cakes... no wait...

Skip, terrible performance on consoles. It feels like the game runs with <15fps all the time.

There aren't many busses in Africa, especially in areas with armed men that attack on sight. Part of the whole problem of trying to make the game real in some parts (cheap crappy weapons in Africa, little fast travel, cars break easily, etc.) while keeping other parts too unrealistic (respawning enemies quickly, animal A.I., magically golden weapons that never break or jam). The game never quite finds a good balance.

I would recommend you stay far far away from Dark Souls. You'd hate it.
Ah man, this reminds me why i absolute hate this game. It's not good by any means. Still baffles me how this got over 85 metacritic score.

Darksiders 2 is my biggest day 1 purchase regret. I don't know if they have fixed the problems on 360 version, but at launch was unbelievably glitchy, game freezes at random places and the chance for your save to get corrupted was high. I lost mine and never finished the game. -_-

Darksiders 2 also has one unobtainable achievement (gifting an item to a friend), which also makes impossible to unlock the last achievement, who is for earning all others..

Haha it's funny how most of these GoD titles on sale has broken achievements.

Does anyone like the Wheel of Fortune that's on sale? It looks kind of fugly, but if I just want to play some Wheel with the family, will it do the trick without getting too annoying?

I know it's dumb fun, but do any cags own [Painkiller] and think it's worth $15?
I don't review too many 360 games any more, but I actually did review Painkiller!

Painkiller: Hell & Damnation Review

The game has a bunch of deliberately rough spots and mechanics, as if the developers haven't played an FPS game in the last 10 years and just did their own PC shooting thing. If you can tolerate that old fashioned-ness or actually crave it, Hell & Damnation is a lot of fun. Practically every level has its own side Achievement to go after, which helps replay value, and there's split-screen co-op as well. I like the Serious Sam series better, but Painkiller is a decent alternative.

I posted a longer review earlier, but the short version is - No & No.

Eastx if your looking for fun with the family Wheel of Fortune is a good time. Me and the fam had a blast. Worth it if your looking for games with the fam. Jeopardy was good too. Strange it isnt on sale too.

I just finished Stacking + The Lost Hobo King last week, bought when they were both on sale in 2012, and it was a chore to get through it all. Not that it was difficult, just that it was really boring and not my thing.

Strong recommend to play the trial first. I played the trial back then and didn't really like it then, but bought it anyway because it was so cheap at the time and I thought maybe the more I played it, the more I'd like it. Nope. Oh well. Felt good to complete it and get it off my hard drive.
I did almost the same exact thing but have not played it yet. Afraid I am not going to like it since I was not into the demo really. Stupid of me to buy just because it was so cheap in 2012.

The idea of stacking is pretty cool, but I just got bored with it very quickly.
Yeah at it's core it's just an adventure game where there may be 100s of solutions to a problem, but you have to find the three "most correct" solutions. Adventure games bore me as well, and it was a grind for me to even finish the main game.

Interesting. . .

I may get Painkiller Hell and Damnation.
Ok dumb question, was this ever released on disc?

If so Amazon, BBY and GS don't have it.

EDIT - Just checked the wiki, I guess it wasn't.

I'll probably buy it then, as I was waiting for a disc version that doesn't exist to go on sale.

There was one really bad glitch that would cost you your whole game had you not backed up your save game. I dont know if that was ever fixed but I never got it. The main issue I had with the game is I own the disc, it's installed to my 360, and it freezes more than any other game I've played. Bad freezes that make you have to manually restart your console because the guide button doesn't work.

The load times never seemed bad at all to me.

No disc release in the states, they got one overseas. I don't know why, but I think I'm going to buy this game. If I didn't grow up on doom i probably wouldn't feel this way....any one want to co op the campaign ?

Think of FC3 as a giant cake, with delicious frosting, and all sorts of good stuff, the deluxe DLC is some little "cake writing" that adds a little to it, is a bit tasty on its own and doesn't change the cake itself. But heck since you love the cake, might as well have a little extra added. The deluxe DLC is essentially just all the pre-order bonus's packed into one.

I am so sick of Microsoft.  Maybe this has been discussed but how do they come up with these prices.  The far cry dlc sale prices are so stupid.  Blood dragon : 67% off but priced 4.94 , Fortunes pack 75% off but priced 1.24.  I thought this might consider tax but the other sales are (sorted) correctly priced.  This company is so fubar---  it is just pennies ( in our favor ) but annoying.   okay jumping off the soap box while still mumbling under my breath

I own Wheel of Fortune on the Wii to play with my girlfriend but I may buy the 360 version here too. Like the idea of having it on my system plus some easy Cheevos.

This company is so fubar--- it is just pennies ( in our favor ) but annoying. okay jumping off the soap box while still mumbling under my breath
first world penny problems

Ok dumb question, was this ever released on disc?

If so Amazon, BBY and GS don't have it.

EDIT - Just checked the wiki, I guess it wasn't.

I'll probably buy it then, as I was waiting for a disc version that doesn't exist to go on sale.
That why I am considering it. I did the same research and found out there was no disc release and I enjoyed Painkiller on the OG Xbox that was released years ago.

I have 3GB of flash space available on my slim Xbox 360 and since this is only 1.98 GB I could put it on that internal storage since my hard drive is just about full and I need the remaining space for Wolf Among Us, Saints Row IV and Metro Last Light Season pass content I bought during the countdown Holiday sales. I need to invest in another 32GB flash drive soon.

Ok informed people, I need help.

I currently has $23.00 in my microsoft account balance.  For whatever stupid reason, I cannot find an option to use that to pay for a purchase.  The Microsoft balance is divided as seen below.  How do I use it?   I am currently using my PC to attempt the purchase.

Promotional Balance

$22.87 USD

Does anyone like the Wheel of Fortune that's on sale? It looks kind of fugly, but if I just want to play some Wheel with the family, will it do the trick without getting too annoying?
Assuming this is the same Wheel of Fortune game on PSN, I downloaded it and found it to be quite enjoyable. Me and my wife played it for awhile and while the presentation is pretty barebones, it did everything you would expect a Wheel of Fortune game to do. They even had a decent amount of unlockables to "buy" with your accumulated money (different stage themes, videos, etc.).

  • You cannot currently buy anything on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.
It's pretty dumb. Hopefully it'll be fixed at some point in time.

I read through the help and FAQ sections connected with the microsft account balance and didn't see this. I actually saw things that said just the opposite.

So to be clear, they converted our Xbox live points (which can be used and were purchased for the sole purpose of buying things on xbox live) to an account balance that cannot be used on xbox live?

I don't know if it's a bug or intentional. The only thing you can't do is use your balance on the website. You must make your purchases directly on your xbox console to be able to use your credit balance.

Thanks, I'll give it a try on my console when I go home. Also, Turbografx was awesome. I pla

Too bad Jeopardy wasn't put in the sale along with Wheel of Fortune, which is the right price for this type of game.  I know I could get some Jeopardy games going in the house, but Wheel, not so much.

Sooo i have to spend 185$ in order to get 3,30$ back as xbox live rewards member at the highest 'my gamerscore' tier. Thats a 1.8% off :oldman: Well at least they don't give away paper birthday cakes... no wait...
That doesn't sound right. The tiers are set up as basically 1%, 2%, and 3% back on purchases. If you spent $185 before the end of last month you should have received 5400 credits ($5.40) at the top-tier rate. Last month I spent $100.33 in mid-tier, and I got the 2000 credits I expected. At top-tier $3.30 back should require $110 spent.

Xbox Live Rewards only calculates how much you earned once a month; around ten days after the start of each month. Also, it cuts off what should be calculated at the end of each month. Anything you bought during the first week of January isn't being counted towards the credits that recently showed up from MyAchievements. They'll be calculated next month.

One other thing is you only get your percentage back each time you reach another $10 spent. If one month you spend $55 you'll only get credits back for $50, but that remaining $5 will count with your next made purchases.

Did a little research on MX vs. ATV servers. Apparently Nordic has been saying they plan to add online again for several months. With a new MX game coming out soon, they might have given up though.

EDIT: Cheese and crackers another Brothers glitch. This time it's not blocking an optional achievement, it is stopping story progress. Sick of this game's shenanigans.

FYI to Xboxers who are also PC gamers, Steam's midweek madness sale just undercut all the Xbox sale prices on Darksiders.  I'm not sure if there are any advantage or disadvantages between the PC and Xbox ports of Darksiders 1/2, though.

From my understanding all the problems are cross platform.

Going to get Wheel Of Fortune, hope it's as fun as i've been told. Are the dlc packs required for achievements? If not then i'll pass on them.

You are probably right BUT this is Europe. Check this out:

  • Current exchange rate: 1$=0.73€, so in the real world 5$=3.66€
  • In the Microsoft marketplace a 5$ arcade game costs here 4.79€ at best, if not straight 5€, then 5$=4.79€, so we pay a 31% more for the same digital content. Outrageous yet old news.
  • Xbox Live Rewards 5000 credits equals 5$, but thanks to magic we get 2.43€ instead (you can check it selecting an european region in rewards webpage, faq section), then 5$=2.43€, so we receive a 33% less as reward. Awesome right?
So, doing the maths, in order to receive a real 5$ off i need 7530 rewards credits, and that means as top tier gamerscore to spend 203,30€ (they give 300 credits per 8,10€ spent), thats 278 freaking dollars mate. 1,8% off like i said. On the other hand you americans "only" need to spend 166$ to get 5$ back.

Anyway who cares, i'm moving to Oman XD

Damn, all of this Wheel of Fortune talk has me itching to spend some money in a week I thought was safe for my wallet. Someone, anyone have a reason not to grab Wheel of Fortune? Amazon has it for $16 used +$20 new............

The OP should be updated to mention that Darksiders 2 also has an unobtainable achievement (until they fix the servers, which may never happen).
