This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

The 360 takes much longer to view achievements. In the video below, the 360 takes about 10 seconds longer to partially load achievements vs. X1 having them all loaded. Every time you look at the achievements on 360, it has to do this whole process over again. When you re-open the achievements on X1, it opens up to exactly where you left off.

360 = 20 seconds to load achievement list with achievement icons not fully loaded. Every time achievement list is re-opened, takes another 20 seconds.

X1 = 10 seconds to load achievement list the first time with everything fully loaded. Every time achievement list is re-opened, takes under 5 seconds.

It doesn't sound like a big difference, but when you are playing a game for achievements, it is. Especially ones that have several level or chapter specific achievements and you need to see what they are at the start of the level or chapter.

Here's the video starting at the achievement part. You can watch the earlier part too if you want to see how painfully long 360 takes to sign in and load game library vs. X1.

You need a new 360 man. It is painfully long to sign in and load achievements on your 360 but it's not supposed to take that long. Pretty much every simple task is quicker on my 360 than on my X1.

I'm really sad that no one named the King of Fighters saga when talking about fighting games.

Also, I like to 1000/1000 games if it's possible without too much time wasting. If it will turn into a chore, I won't do it.

In regards to those of you on the Borderlands tourney achievements. Pro tip: Go to online mode, search for games, and jump in on people who are already in tourneys. You get cred. I only had to do 2 tourneys and I jumped in at the end of 1 and middle of another, lol.

Just to add on the achievement discussion, while I dont usually go for 1000/1000 or multiple playthroughs specific to achievements, I will often tailor my first playthrough for certain achievements if I find it not too out of the way.  For example, I just finished Dishonored.  I decided to go for Clean Hands, Ghost, and Shadow all on the first playthrough, even though I wont go back for all of the achievements.  It does add interesting ways to approach games I think.

I finished DIshonored a couple days ago as well. I tried to play the whole "sneaky-sneaky" thing but it got boring for me, so for most of the game, I killed anyone who stood in my way (except for a few story-specific characters, who I had dealt with via different means).

The game was fun but it certainly wasn't as good as people was saying it was when I bought it (still $10, not a bad deal). As for the story, you could see the plot-twist coming from a mile away and the ending felt very abrupt, as if the developers had run out of ideas.

yeah, I didnt mind the stealth aspect but can see how it would get boring. I paid $8 around Black Friday for it so definitely a good deal, but it felt quite short. I dont know why I went for Clean Hands, I guess cause I heard it was a hard achievement to get and I felt like challenging myself lol.

EDIT: I also did the achievement for no upgrades, so if I ever go back for a 2nd playthrough I will just go all out and kill everything. Stupid achievement...

this is completely unrelated, but I honestly dont even think theres any more DLC/XBLA games I'm dying for....I have $17 in MS monies left and Ive been debating picking up an Xbox dollars card since they're 5% off at BB and I have a $5 cert expiring next week, and I cant even convince myself to pull the trigger.

Yo, Microsoft. How about an HD reboot of all these games and put em all on 1 disc and lets play these behotches.

Smash Bros?
Smash Bros really doesn't seem like a standard fighting game to me. I mean, yes it's all fighting, but it's almost more of a party game in many ways than something people sit down for hours to learn the technics for (though I know people DO do that).

So yeah, Smash Bros is great fun, I just don't think of it when I think of fighting games.

You're right. Its more of a party game.

I managed to pick up a card with a 25% discount in preparation for July 2015 (the projected sale date of the ME3 DLC), but it also shows up on my Windows 8 account, so it's worth bearing in mind that you can use it for Win8 / RT apps in future.

And the One, I guess, should the worst come to the worst.

Smash Bros is a fighting game. It had Fighting Game in the title when it was first created as Dragon King:The Fighting Game. The gameplay of the game consists of up to 4 fighters fighting each other. That's a fighting game. A Party game is fairly broad to me, but i'd say a Party game is a game that is purely mini-games, IMO.

I feel the same way. I have about $44 in my account but I have no idea what to use it for.

I always consider a game "beat" once I've done the main story. It's pretty rare that I'll go for a full 1000/1000. In fact, the only game I've done that with on my 360 is Mass Effect 2, and all of those achievements came from naturally playing the game. I especially hate grinding achievements or ones that require 3+ playthroughs to get. Just not worth it when I have so many other games in the backlog.
For me it really just depends on if I enjoy the game.

If I really enjoy the game, sometimes I'm willing to go through a final "grind" just to get 100% platinum trophy or 1000/1000 gamerscore.

However I'm with you on the backlog thing. Having a backlog of games plays a big role in me NOT wanting to grind much of anything. I see people in my friends lists that seem to want to 100% *EVERYTHING*. No idea how or why they do that. I used to only do that in select cases, although for awhile it was probably as much as 50% of the games I was playing. Now I probably don't even bother with 10% - and it's getting less just because i'm at the point where I want to play through a bunch of my backlog before moving into next gen. So there is simply not enough time in the world.

Same here, last two i maxed out were MG Rising and Dragon's Dogma, loved everything about them.

I have friends, who grind out Gears 3 - i never would do such a thing, life is too short for stuff like this lol.

Strider and SUPER Time Force looks promising. But from the old stuff i have everything decent, so doesn't know for what will spend the remaining 7k msp.

I just got a free 30 day free trial and bought tales of vesperia =D, I think if you make a new account you can just get the free 30 day trial then buy a game and license transfer it

Now I probably don't even bother with 10% - and it's getting less just because i'm at the point where I want to play through a bunch of my backlog before moving into next gen. So there is simply not enough time in the world.
oh yeah, if I really enjoy a game I'll put some extra effort in to get cheevos or trophies, but that's when it doesnt feel like a ton of extra work to do so. If the game is fun I'm more forgiving of grind requirements. Especially if it involves multiple playthroughs as I can take different approaches in the character, level, etc. In those cases I dont mind.

I just got a free 30 day free trial and bought tales of vesperia =D, I think if you make a new account you can just get the free 30 day trial then buy a game and license transfer it
Just some info:
1. You need a credit card to get the free month with a new account.
2. License transfer only transfers the game title to a specific Xbox, not an account.
3. If you made said account on your main Xbox, you don't need to license transfer it.

Thanks for all the feedback. Maybe I can cut myself some slack. I think my desire to 1000/1000 a game is more for getting my dollar's worth. But with some of these deals we've been getting, I think a single play though may be just enough.

But it has been quite a trip going back and forth between GTA V, Bioshock, and Dark Souls (controller scheme wise).

Isn't it around this time of month that we find out what the games with gold for next month will be? The curiousity of which games I will download and bury in my backlog is killing me.

Finished up LC: GOL earlier today. It was surprising fun in co-op. I remember not liking it at all when I played it a long time ago by myself. I'm hoping for more co-op games next month.

What is that, circa 1989?
So wait, what I got from this site (translated from french) about CRIME FIGHTERS is that it was a tongue-in-cheek brawler ala STREETS OF RAGE, from the pre-FINAL FIGHT era, but with upto 4-players?? Sign my 8-year old self up, 1989!
Why, if you want to know about Crime Fighters - look no further than HardcoreGaming101's article on Crime Fighters and Konami's other non-licensed arcade beat-em-ups. It's a great read.

Best things about the game are the ability to kick male enemies in the groin (and vice versa), and the wacky sense of humor present in the Japanese version of it.
