  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.

In for Reckoning too, bought the DLC's last time they were on sale, hoping that the game would be for 800/1200msp soon enough. Still waiting :(

 
Reckoning is underrated. Much like Sleeping Dogs, it wouldn't benefit me personally for it to be free but I'd just be happy that more people would get to experience it.
 
I started Reckoning a month or so ago and haven't been able to get into it. Not sure what it is but the story doesnt grab me and combat doesn't flow well at all I think, disappointing as I was looking forward to it.
 
Considering grabbing Power Stars golf for the XB1, but I think i saw that there was a better looking, more realistic golf game coming out soon that I may prefer instead. Anyone own it and van make a case for it? Fwiw I did enjoy the Hot Shots golf series on Vita and PS3

Never played Hot Shots, but I love Powerstar. It's like Peggle to me where sometimes I wanna play a game that I can zone out on and this is it. The game just got a pretty hefty update so there's a good amount of content going on in it too.

I was pretty much resigned to passing on this, but now you have me curious. How is it as far as the microtransactions? I thought I read that the unlocks take a lot of grinding (or you could spend real money to get it).

Edit: And I feel like I should weigh in on Smash Brothers given that it is in my sig. Regardless of how you categorize it, I find it to be infinitely more fun that just about any fighting game I've played (and I do enjoy fighters despite not being very good).

The update also upped the amount of credits you get as well. It's like Mass Effect 3. You can spend the credits right away and get a small chance at getting good stuff. Or save up and get guaranteed good stuff. Last I checked 60,000 credits for 5 guaranteed elite items. I was making about 3,500 from 3-put games to about 13,000 to full 9-hole games. Before update. Not sure where it is now. Better, I assume.

1 elite item per game doesn't sound bad at all. Either you are really good or achievements require a ton of elite items for people to complain enough for them to increase credit output.

I have a bad habit of restarting games when I don't do well. So when I do end up finishing I get a good credit payout.
 
Even more anxious to see what next month's GwG will be, after Sony announced today that Bioshock Infinite will be part of their PS+ program in Feb. Also wondering when we'll see GwG on Xbox One since PS4 is getting stuff under PS+.

Sure Xbox still has superior multiplayer (even with Sony's effort to need up theirs), but PS+ is still making a total mockery of GwG with newer games and a lot more to offer in general.
 
Part of me also thinks there's a good chance that either Powerstar golf or Crimson Dragon will be the first free games for X1 which makes me want to wait on buying them even though I'd like both of them

Yeah, this guy is confused, I think. North America got Infinite this month while Europe gets it next month (February's plus content for Na hasn't been revealed yet). All that said, I have 0 expectations that anything as recent as Bioshock will be in GWG and we should keep our expectations low until E3, I suspect (I have no reason to believe this, but I feel like the first GWG game for Xbox One won't happen till after E3, either).

That is an EA game and EA has not participated in the Games with Gold promo.

I expect more Ubisoft, Capcom or Square Enix games...

Why not? We didn't get Square Enix games until this month. Plus they're a big enough company that they can put something out for free if other companies are doing it.

You know there's a demo and it's a beat em up. That's a pretty easy way to make your decision. You're walking to the right and punching and kicking things in the face as you go and you're really not there for the story, just good combat mechanics and animation sprites.

Phantom Breaker is awesome. Playing the demo a year ago even convinced me to buy the game and DLC at full price (which I almost never do). I liked it even better than Castle Crashers. It's a must-buy.

You know there's a demo and it's a beat em up. That's a pretty easy way to make your decision. You're walking to the right and punching and kicking things in the face as you go and you're really not there for the story, just good combat mechanics and animation sprites.

There's good beat 'em ups and bad ones, that's why I asked :p I'm watching a video of it right now and it doesn't seem particularly fantastic.

Oh, Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds. I'll probably pick it up, but it always amuses me how this spinoff is so much better than the source material.

Anyway, I'm really hoping that this is foretelling a week of fighting game deals, since MS can't really differentiate between beat-em-ups and fighters.

EDIT: Son of a bitch, Mass Effect DLC? Guess it's another dry week, again...

"Must-buy" not for everyone. I just can't bring myself to play this cute game with bunch of cute voices. Girls in Dresses with huge weapons, Killing bad ass dudes and collecting pink and red gemstones, Aww how cute ;
