This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

So just GTA then? Oh well, you guys' opinions on these games and whether I should buy them? I have a coupon that expires next week so I'd really like to use it, and these are some of the cheapest (and the ones I'm interested in) that I could find:

Dragon Age Origins

Borderlands 1/2

Ghost Recon FS

Hitman Absolution

Army of Two: Devil's Cartel

Castlevania Lords of Shadow
I'd recommend Castlevania, though you should know that it is considered fairly difficult. Even if you rush through it on easy, it'd be worth it just to see the boss fights, though. It's also worth mentioning that it has a nice art style, a great score and fun, if derivative combat. I also thought it had a cool story, though a lot of people will disagree with me on that point.

DA: O: I liked it, but I wouldn't praise it as much as most people. It follows the Bioware formula very carefully, so if you've played and enjoyed Mass Effect or KotOR etc. you will probably like it, too.

Borderlands: The co-op is good, but if you don't have some good friends to play with then skip this one.

Hitman: I bought this one when it was on sale a while back, and I regret it even though I only paid ten bucks. It's a good looking game, but it has a ridiculous plot and an annoying scoring system that kept me from really getting into it. On the plus side, it's a pretty easy 1000GS/Platinum.

Haven't play Ghost Recon: FS or Army of tw: tDC, though, so I can't comment on them.

You know that's a huge gamble considering majority of the ME3 sales have been done one by one and never altogether once, right?
I know. That's the problem. I'll probably bite, but I get the feeling with this gen over they'll go nuts with a 75‰ sale for a ton of DLC soon.

Good to see you back, Bobby. Sorry to hear about the ex, but considering we were worried about your life for a day or so, this isn't so bad. Are you going to change your name to DaddyTastic when the time comes?

You know that's a huge gamble considering majority of the ME3 sales have been done one by one and never altogether once, right? Same can be said about the Dragon Age 2 DLC, another Bioware game. Same with Mass Effect 2 with the last time I think all the DLC had a sale was in January 2012.

And like I said earlier, unless you're a huge fan of Aria, Omega doesn't offer much.
Confirming this. Citadel is also the most popular of the DLCs and the least likely to see a repeat sale. I'm still kicking myself for missing Omega and waiting for From Ashes to come back for half-off. But hey, at least I'm only missing 3 ME3 DLCs now (I have no idea why Firefight pack isn't on sale).

I completely missed all the ME2 DLC sales and I still hate myself for it. I have no idea why they couldn't have had an ME day during the Christmas sales.

Any reason why LocoCycle is considered crap? I loved all the other Twisted Pixel games I have played and have heard nothing but bad things for LocoCycle, unfortunately.
It's their worst game yet. It's because it was a game obviously designed for the 360 that got rushed and thrown on the Xbox One at the expense of quality. The graphics alone can tell you that much.

As for why, pretty much everything, graphics, controls, lack of charm (it's only funny about half the time).

And yes, it's even worse than Comic Jumper (which was still good).

I know. That's the problem. I'll probably bite, but I get the feeling with this gen over they'll go nuts with a 75‰ sale for a ton of DLC soon.
With EA that's...up for debate. I Think we can all agree that EA is the company that tries to get every last cent from a gamer for their products, but their handling of Bioware games is...odd. Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2 are games with a ton of DLC and can easily be rereleased with an Ultimate version similar to the first Dragon Age and sell a good amount of copies, yet it hasn't happened even with the trilogy set. I Want to say as long as there isn't a version with all the DLC then there's no chance that they'll do a massive sale.

If someone's profile picture is a girl, they're obviously a girl. No exception. That's what we've learned here. That and KFC is the official food of XBox Deals, but I'm sure you assumed that.
Haha. There was someone dumb enough to assume that? I mean, enough people lie about being female on the internet to warrant suspicion, but to think that solely based on a PROFILE picture? Have these people never played MMOs? I don't do this, but plenty of guys play as girls/use female avatars in games.

Had no idea the Deals were sponsored by KFC. Figured it would be Pizza Hut based on the aggressive advertising of the Pizza Hut app.

Good to see you back, Bobby. Sorry to hear about the ex, but considering we were worried about your life for a day or so, this isn't so bad. Are you going to change your name to DaddyTastic when the time comes?
Thanks! It's alright, I've mostly gotten over it, but I appreciate your sympathy. You guys were worried about my life? That's kind of touching. I can't fault you for that at all though, considering how abrupt it was. But yes, it's a lot better than me being dead.

Haha, if things go well enough in court, I'll consider a name change. However, with all the creepy flirting going on in the thread apparently, people might take the name the wrong way..

I don't do this, but plenty of guys play as girls/use female avatars in games.
The way I see it, if I'm gonna be looking at someone's butt for dozens of hours, I'd rather it be a chick ;)

Also, good to see you're not dead. There was some suspicion that Netro had done away with you quietly in the night...

Manga world kinda made up for that game for me. If you were to ask why, I'd have no idea. Maybe because it struck the right nerve of stupid that I couldn't help, but laugh.
It's funny you say that. I actually JUST finished the two manga world challenges a few days ago because OCD. They're so hard apparently that even finishing them gets you in the top 1k of the leaderboards.

So with my memory refreshed of manga world from said challenges, I can see where you're coming from. I actually liked the game overall, even comparing it to their better games. But it was definitely the lame duck of the set of four Twisted Pixel games.. until LocoCycle. At least Comic Jumper had mixed reactions as opposed to just negative.

Anyone have thoughts on Blood Knights? Is it an easy completion? Is it enjoyable?
Both Blood Knights and Contrast have PC versions, and both games are recent (especially because there's been so little XBLA games released in the past few months), if you wanna go ask in a PC gaming thread (if nobody here has an opinion). I'd say they're a little too expensive because recent, might be better off waiting.

That's usually the argument I hear, but I didn't want to say it word for word. But yes, female asses and all that.

Thanks, I appreciate that this is good news to you guys.

Side-note: Are you still running the Club Nintendo rewards thread? Holy shit it's been disappointing lately. December and January have been terrible. Can't wait for the new set of digital downloads.

At least they gave away those nice game cases. Did you snag one? I got an AC one because the multiple Links cover looked horrid.

As for Necro, no, he didn't attempt to kill me or anything (or ask for my blessing, but I don't blame him for that). I think it's kinda funny because I was really into Transformice for a while with someone, and Necro reminds me of that person. A person who I wouldn't be surprised if they killed me in cold blood.

So other people like The Maw then? I thought it was far to easy and kind of boring.

I did. I even bought the extra scenes (which were kind of a rip-off, honestly). It was better than Comic Jumper, I thought. Obviously the 'Splosion Man games are the best of the lot.

DId any of you guys get in on the Zombie Driver HD Facebook giveaway, by the way? I did. I already owned the base game from a sale, but I got the 2 DLCs and a bunch of avatar items for free. Was really hard to get codes though, shit.

Ok......well has anyone actually bought Blood Knights on xbl. Just because it's recent doesn't mean no one bought it.

Well, of course not. I was just saying it was probably unlikely to find someone in here because they're both recent $15 games that didn't really see much hype (this is CHEAP ass gamer, after all). Hence why nobody's really commented on them. But I was letting you know there's a PC version that probably has had some buyers, in case no one here gives you an opinion.

Understood. I'll just see if anyone replies here.

Welcome back, Bobby. I looked at the ZD FB giveaway but always refreshed the page a couple hours after they were posted so I knew they were redeemed. According to all the complaining in the comments most codes were gone within minutes.

I almost sent you a message on XBL to see if you were still alive. I saw you playing Alien Hominid the other day. I should get back into that.

Is anyone picking up Fable Anniversary? I decided to buy it since I never got to play the Lost Chapters content and remember loving the original the most. Also, did anyone see that video of the intro to the game recreated using Project Spark? It was cool and brought back memories of those early quests. I can't wait for the beta to expand to consoles so I can use my code. I'm still using Vista so my PC isn't good enough.

Between that, Titanfall (assuming reviews are great) and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD in March I'm not being a good cheap ass lol.

Thanks Cleaner, it's good to be back. I actually had my browser camped out on the Facebook page with auto-refresh turned on for every 30 seconds. The key was to know when they posted usually (usually 9 a.m. their time, noon their time, 4 p.m. their time and 9 p.m. their time). Then you had to have the "Redeem code" page open in the next tab ready for copy + paste. That was literally the only way to get a code on time.

I posted a few times in the comments (my Facebook picture is a watergun, in case you saw it), responding to the people who thought they could use a "universal code". Made me laugh so hard. I'd have gotten you some extra codes if there was a way to save them for later.

I've seen you on Xbox Live too. I only started playing on my 360 again this week since I "vanished" in early November. Good catch on the game, I was playing Alien Hominid because I decided to start clearing some of my backlog (I had like 1 achievement in it from when a friend came over).

Sweet of you to consider sending me a message though, much appreciated. I'd play Hominid with you if it had online co-op. What do you have left to do? I'm only stuck on the Head Chomper achievement.

I WAS going to pick up Fable Anniversary.. until they announced THREE separate packs of pre-order DLC. I already have the original game + Lost Chapters so the idea of pre-order DLC for a $40 remake infuriated me to no end. Disgusting. I hope you enjoy it though, I will probably get it once it drops low enough.

I saw the Project Spark video, looks amazing. I also have my beta code but I only have Windows 7.. so I'm fucked.

Don't get too excited for Titanfall, it's still in alpha with only a month before release, that is NOT good. The beta drops in like 2 weeks or something. It's going to be rushed.

X/X-2 HD should be good though, even if they kind of mangled the graphics a bit. March is a BIG month for releases, it's the new November for games that can't compete against Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed and Battlefield.

I just checked the commerce site to see my balance and saw that I randomly got a $12.70 credit on the 29th of last month, not sure why but I guess I'll pick up both KoA expansions since I wanted to but wasn't sure I wanted to pay for em right now, but if the credits already there, kinda nice!

I'm picking up Fable Anniversary from BB later today, only $32 if you have GCU, not a bad deal!

I really want to get in on that Project Spark beta haha, want to try it out on my One for sure!

I got my hands on a few of those Project Spark beta codes that will work on X1 when it releases. which is hopefully soon.

How did you get them, just from signing up for the beta or from other people?
They had a sign up for them on projectspark.com I actually have a code, but I think it's for the PC and requires Windows 8.1 and I'm in no mood to upgrade to that.

Huh, yeah I remember signing up for that a while back, not everyone who did must have got one then, I have the game downloading on my 8.1 machine but can't play it because I don't have a code, wonder if I'll get a code for the X1 version then since I'm pretty sure I signed up for both

Want my PC beta code? I Got no use for it and I don't even know why I signed up.

So just GTA then? Oh well, you guys' opinions on these games and whether I should buy them? I have a coupon that expires next week so I'd really like to use it, and these are some of the cheapest (and the ones I'm interested in) that I could find:

Dragon Age Origins

Borderlands 1/2

Ghost Recon FS

Hitman Absolution

Army of Two: Devil's Cartel

Castlevania Lords of Shadow
I enjoyed Army of Two: TDC - it isn't a bad game, some were just upset about the shift in protagonists. If anything, it doesn't offer much new, but that can be said of a lot of recent games. If you get it, try to get one with the Overkillers code; while the mode only offers three missions, it's basically a score attack and is rather fun (it also offers a lot of cash quickly to buy masks and armor).

NOTE: On the Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance Lim. Promo. Ed. was released only as a preorder bonus for purchasing MK: Armageddon. As such it is available in very limited quantities and comes with a new insert that is not available in the regular GH version of the game as well as a slightly altered cover fact on the DVD with the words "Promotional Copy Not For Resale" this is also printed on the insert as well. Midway did a similar promotion with Shadow Hearts: Covenant by giving Shadow Hearts away for free.

Got em when they were having beta sign ups. I got one and checked others later on. Ended up with 3. The PS people said those codes were good for X1 use as well. So I held onto them.

Your tablet or smart phone or whatever you use to go on CAG reeeeally hates when you quote people it seems.

I just noticed. Yeah. fuckin tapatalk is the most useless PoS in the world. ONLY with this site though. Ugh.
Haha, figured you were responded to me asking about where you got the codes. But gotcha, yeah I just started up the app and I guess I was already in the beta, kind of a bummer I just had no idea about it but I'm happy this got me to look at that!

Yeah. I TRIED to quote you. Its like 1 in 10 times that happens. It doesn't even let me edit my posts either. CAG and/or tapatalk need to get it together.

Either way. Good for you mate. Hopefully the X1 beta drops before Titanfalls beta so I have something to play lol.

Nice to see you back BobbyTastic, with your disappearance at Halloween, people thought you must have been shanked by a crazy. Congratulations on the babymaking......adding gamers through reproduction is how we will win :)
Seriously, I love playing games with my kids and you will too.

As to this weeks deals they truly sucketh. I suppose I have become spoiled over the last 6 months by all the deals draining my points away. Oh! well this is a window of opportunity to tackle the back log......GAME ON

Yay more time for the backlog. Just finished Blood Dragon and it was perfect for that FC3 itch. Didn't overstay its welcome and the finale made me smile and shed a manly tear from the awesomeness. I would recommend moving it up from the backlog abyss!

Glad you are back Bobby. I did get Zombie Driver HD + 2 DLC's and a skull helmet through Facebook. It was a brutal competition. If you wanted something it had to be during the first minute it was posted. Thanks to whoever posted that deal here btw (I discovered they were giving away codes in this thread)!

Loco cycle = tempting at $10. It just screams "I'll be free soon enough, dummy!"
Exactly what I was thinking. When it launched at $20, I decided that $10 would be my buy-in point. Figured that would take a while; we'd see sales like we've seen so far on Powerstar Golf and Crimson Dragon, 25% off at $15, and that I'd just end up waiting to see how long it took for the Games for Gold thing to come to XB1. Not sure I have the willpower to wait for it to be free, though.

The problem with having a lot of Xbox credit (less now) is that it doesn't seem like real money, and it is hard to get out of the mindset of treating it like a zero-sum game. From the latest sale, I bought:

Alice Madness Returns - wasn't on my radar, looks really interesting visually, but not sure if I'll actually play it.

All ME3 DLC that was on sale - I never even finished ME1, I know, I know.

Shank 2

Mirror's Edge - pretty sure I have it on disc for both 360 and PS3, and I just now realized it was in the Humble Origin Bundle that I bought (to be fair, though, I don't currently do any PC gaming). Very good from what I played, but can only handle it in short bursts to avoid motion sickness.

Press middle button, go all the way left, press Recent, and go all the way to the right. All your games should be there. I feel spoiled by Xbox Ones Kinect commands to start games.
