This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Ding ding ding! Dishonored is a stealth game at its core! You could also finish any Hitman game superfast if you ignore that stealthy bullshit, but where's the fun? At least you have some cool skills when been detected and the game enables the 'rambo frenzy' playthrough but imho if you dont stealth that game you are playing it 'wrong'.

Oh how I miss a Tenchu game... or a remake of Shinobido.
Some of us don't like stealth. You think stealth is "fun", I think it "sucks". I never play stealth games but this one was advertised in a way that leads you to believe that it can be played either way. That's actually true but as soon as you turn the game on you're told that you'll get the shit ending if you don't play with stealth. The ending isn't as good if you kill people though it's not THAT bad as long as you save the person.

They're actually locking the ending down based on the choice of play styles while a game like Deus Ex: HR allows you to play a variety of ways and don't penalize you if you have a preference other than the one the developer chose. If they had advertised the game the way it's meant to be played instead of insinuating some greater level of choice (than exists) then yes I'd agree that I played it "wrong" but the developers basically lied about it in order to increase sales because most people don't enjoy stealth games.

And of course there's the fact that (as you mentioned) almost every single skill and weapon is for killing then the game penalizes you for killing. Well fuck them, they told me it was a viable play style and that's the only reason I bought the game so that's the way I fucking played it. This is also where I don't get the "where is the fun in that" thing come from when talking about this game. Stealth is way less fun than killing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NljhxXp2l0

BTW, if you guys got the GOTY version, the add on missions from the other assassin are better than the main game. The other pack (Dunwall City Trials) is just a bunch of bullshit that's not worth playing.

I see that when you redeem codes online now you get a prompt first to confirm the use. I like this. It will make checking codes easier since before it would just redeem the code automatically.

I hate it.

It makes code drops not even worth it.

And I can't even copy and paste a code without it adding an extra space therefore deleting a character in the code therefore causing it to mess up

Not sure I understand why?

OK I see you updated.

Try using a different browser. Works fine in IE. I've been using it since before Christmas without any problems like that.

Not even just the extra space thing.

If someone drops a code where you have to guess a character, now you have to make a guess, get told your wrong, then go and select to redeem a new code again.

Before, you could just keep changing the character and automatically re-try.

And I'm not using IE

Season Pass owners of The Wolf Among Us on Xbox 360 are experiencing an unexpected issue when attempting to redeem The Wolf Among Us Episode 2: Smoke & Mirrors, where they are asked to pay for the episode individually. We are working with Microsoft and will be releasing a title update to resolve the issue for this and subsequent episodes covered by the Season Pass. We anticipate the update will be available within several days.

All The Wolf Among Us Season Pass owners will be sent Xbox 360 console system message codes that will allow them to download episode 2 for no additional charge. If you intended to buy a Season Pass for The Wolf Among Us but haven’t yet, you can continue to do so. New Season Pass purchasers will also receive codes by console system message while the title update is in progress. Please note there may be a delay of up to 48 hours in receiving the console system message for new Season Pass purchases made prior to the title update release.

Once you receive your console system message with the redemption code for The Wolf Among Us Episode 2: Smoke & Mirrors, please follow these instructions to acquire the content:

  • Go to either Xbox.com/My Account to redeem your code or Settings/Account/Redeem Code on your Xbox 360 console and input the code.
  • Once your code is redeemed please to go to Download History under Account on your Xbox 360 console to download The Wolf Among Us Episode 2: Smoke & Mirrors . After your download is complete you will be able to launch Episode 2 from within The Wolf Among Us.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Users will still see the paid $4.99 Episode 2 error in the in-game store after redeeming the code until the Episode 2 content is downloaded from the user’s Download History using the aforementioned instructions.
We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused our Season Pass customers but we are glad that we are able to provide your content to you in this way while we work closely with Microsoft to issue the necessary title update.

just got this in a email... so... i wonder ... can i sell the code and then download it once they fix the season pass issue???

Last edited by a moderator:
Yes.

They sent out codes so that customers didn't rage and so they didn't have to constantly deal with CS calls, etc..

It was a temporary solution because they still can't fix it yet

So I take it NO ONE got a Warface beta code? I signed up all 3 of my GT emails and not a single code. Ugh. Wanted to play this game since the announcement.

I just got that generic you'll get your code soon email as well as two of my buddies who signed up for it :/

Haven't seen anyone get their code yet either so it looks like that might be the case

All 3 of my emails got the "thanks for signing up" but not a single code :\ I hope they're still sending them out.

Anyone see where Call of Duty has been split between 3 developers now?

Sledgehammer Games will be releasing 2014's CoD, Treyarch's will be 2015, and Infinity Ward's will be 2016

Yup. CAN'T WAIT!
/Sarcasm

Honestly. Would rather have Treyarchs CoD this year instead of Sledgehammer.

Got the "Thank you for you interest email in Warface beta" yesterday, and got my code today about 3 pm est. So the codes are going out.

I see that Far Cry Classic is coming out Tuesday for $9.99, I seem to remember that when it was first announced that they said it was going to be less than that.

Nope, not messing around at all. I normally get picked for betas and have a couple of friends that liked Crytek's other stuff, so I entered in for some codes and ended up with four.

That blows. For me that is. What is it about not getting selected for betas? I have so much time logged in, in online games and never get offered for betas to games I play. Just plain dumb.

I always question why I get in. I don't get to spend half the amount of time gaming as most people that apply for them likely do and I probably won't even be getting to playing most of them that I apply for. I know I never ended up playing much of Infinite Crisis and probably won't play ESO.

You didn't get one either?

Ill never play IC either and have a dozen codes for it.

Wow, can I just say that mass effect 3 has some of the best DLC ever in a game? Leviathan and citadel were completely awesome.
That's good to hear.

I started a new playthrough yesterday so I can play all the dlc this time around.

Also, I noticed that the outfit/weapon pack dlc packs for Fable Anniversary are showing as 50% off until February 13th. They are $2.49 each. That would mean these are all going to be $5 a pop after that, which is ludicrous.

Those codes are all invalidated now anyways, so not even really a reason to check it out. It sucks.
Yeah it does. Oh well.

Anyway. Anyone out there who has an extra Warface code, and wouldn't mind sharing it with a fellow CaG, who'll give something in return, let me know.

Mass Effect 2 and 3 have the best DLC around, no question.  Lair of the Shadow Broker is probably at the top of the list, but I enjoyed Leviathan and Citadel quite a bit, too.  Hell, I enjoyed Pinnacle Station for ME1.

Yeah it does. Oh well.

Anyway. Anyone out there who has an extra Warface code, and wouldn't mind sharing it with a fellow CaG, who'll give something in return, let me know.
They are probably going to take a few days to send them all out. Other betas do the same thing, like with Project Spark I got my beta code a week after they started sending them out.

I ended up getting all 3 of mine the day they started sending them out.

I hope the beta lasts long if they're still gonna send them out. Really wanted to play this.

The PC beta lasted for a long time so this one will probably last a while too. Also since the game will be free to play you won't miss your chance to try it out.

Yeah. I bet. I just wanted it now to have something to play til the Titanfall beta lol.

As I read all of the Witcher 2 posts, it consistently makes me feel lucky that I chose Kingdoms Of Amalur over both Witcher 2 and Skyrim.  The story may not have been as intriguing, but 100% of the 100+ hours was fun and entertaining. Due to the awesome combat system and super-easy "go this way" map system, I think it's now safe to say that:

Kingdoms Of Amalur is to Skyrim or Witcher 2 as Saints Row is to GTA.

Now I just have to figure out where Dragon's Dogma fits into all of this.  I really want to like the game, but feel like I have to force myself past the boring everything instead.

I found Kingdom of Amalur to be really enjoyable with the exception of those quests like the book collection one where you spend 100 hours to complete them and they give you a little bit of gold after you already have millions. That should have given you a stat bump or something. The fighting in Amalur is good too with all the combos of a fighting game. I'm not quite sure why people say The Witcher 2's combat is so deep. Amalur is much deeper.

That's a very interesting way to put it. I pretty much agree, and I prefer Saints Row to GTA as well because it doesn't take itself seriously and goes out of its way to make everything fun and empowering for the player.

However I'd personally put Skyrim in the same "fun and user-friendly" camp as Reckoning and Saints.

FWIW I tried Dragon's Dogma and found it similar to the Witcher, i.e. obscure and tedious.

Agreed. Amalur may not have had the most amazing storyline and the most impressive variety of quests and activities, but the fighting was so bloody brilliant and spectacular that it was fun all the way through. Also, being it easy as for the difficulty but also as for finding your way and solving things, it's a game that just flows so well, it never feels boring or frustrating, it's like a joyride. I completely agree with the Saints Row/GTA parallel as well: I completed SR3 100% unlike any GTA game (despite liking all of them and spending 50+ hours on each), because it was just so fun all the way through, and never tedious, annoying, overly serious or grindy. I also feel the same for Dragon's Dogma: it seems so grand and epic, but I don't enjoy the quests and fighting too much (though jumping on big enemies is a great fun), which makes it so that I'm really forcing myself to like it. I love everything about the game, except I don't like much of the... game, lol. I so want to love it though, and I'll definitely get back into it.

Personally, I don't see how Activision didn't do the obvious step of porting World of Warcraft over to consoles when they merged with Blizzard.

It's been shown that the PC hack n' slash games work well on consoles, (Diablo 3), and that inventory management can be modified to work on consoles, (Elder Scrolls games).

Maybe it's because Blizzard doesn't do well with the shorter console development cycles, where users expect new content within months, instead of the usual years that Blizzard takes to put out DLC/expansions. I think we're seeing an example of Blizzard suffering to get out DLC with the upcoming Reaper of Souls expansion for Diablo 3.

Elder Scrolls Online looks to be the first console example of a full-blown MMORPG, that isn't Japanese. We have yet to see what it can do, and if it survives the "pay to play" model. This model has survived in the past, but hasn't really been tested with having the additional cost of an online subscription on top of the $15 a month, (for Xbox One users at least). Even on the PC, we've seen WoW subscriptions fall off, as the cheaper model of mobile gaming takes over.

I'd like to see a revamped World of Warcraft make it out on consoles, and give Elder Scrolls Online a run for its money.

Wow, can I just say that mass effect 3 has some of the best DLC ever in a game? Leviathan and citadel were completely awesome.
It has been so long since I finished the game I am afraid I forgot how to play my Shepard (Vaguard) . I want to jump back into the DLC though.
