This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

After digesting tonight's list, I think my wallet is actually safe. I like cheap racing games but I just bought GRID 2 and haven't even played it yet, so I think I'm good. And everything else I'd want in this sale, I already have.

Sadly for your wallet, this is just day 1 of daily sales according to earlier posts.

wow, some great deals this week. I own Mass Effect and Arkham City and I'm tempted to pick them up just for the digital factor...
Arkham City is def. a keeper one the best Batman games Imho. I might might as well pick up digital copy caz I never played as CatWoman, my rented copy didn't have a code. Also DLCs for Arkham City are pretty nice.

As for Mass Effect I only played ME2 first mission lol and completely dropped the series. I think I need to play from the start : )

Why did someone say that Dante's Inferno has been redacted? It's still showing up as $3.74 on Xbox.com for me. Though when I click the price changes to $4.98 but that's cause I'm in Australia and everything is more expensive here.

Some amazing deals. Already bought the Midway Cabinet, Runner 2 and Guardians of Middle Earth. Just debating Ridge Runner Unbounded at the moment. Sigh, Microsoft you have all my money this week.

Recommendations for those who care:

Dust (amazing)

Driver San Francisco - this is probably the best driving game since Burnout Paradise, even Yahtzee Croshaw loves this thing and he hates everything

Batman Arkham City - if you don't own this do yourself a favour

Mass Effect - This is without a doubt my favourite of the series, best story, great RPG elements, shame it all got stripped away and mucked up in the later two games which were still fairly good, but nothing matched the whole chasing a bad guy around the galaxy trying to understand what was going on. Also I loved the elevator loading scenes. Preferred those to some random loading screen with a shot of blueprints of a ship, it was far more immersive.

Dirt 3 - Great racing game

Portal 2 - you might be able to get a better price at a pawnshop or somewhere else but it's a brilliant game, I mean it's Valve and you probably own it anyways

Ruse - one of the most underrated strategy games around, if you even remotely like that genre buy this thing

Radiant Silvergun - I think the price is too high as I know I bought it sometime but don't think i paid that much, anyways it's a great bullet-hell game but I think considering some of the other prices you can probably wait for a better sale

Bastion - just buy it. I wasn't a huge fan, preferred it on the PC/Mac due to the controls being easier when shooting the arrows, but just buy it

Alan Wake's American Nightmare - Alan Wake was likely my favourite game of the last gen. This isn't as good but it's more Alan Wake. nuff said

Motocross Madness - Microsoft was sneaky here and wound up releasing something that in screenshots looks fairly pedestrian and not so great. But then you play it and this thing is just fun, heaps fun. And for this price it's a bargain.

Dante's Inferno - great game that was probably a bit harshly reviewed back in the day. I think it's definitely worth a few bucks.
Wow what a microsoft plug....

Dust...don't forget about the game crippling glitch. Haven't been back since I lost my progress from the big freeze.

I believe radiant silvergun has only been on sale for half off so that's probably what you paid for it.

This a game-stopping bug in Dust? I never encountered it and I 100% that game. It's really fuckin good, everyone buy it.

Times like these when I am glad I have a surplus of MSP cards from last year, After buying Dante's Inferno I don't know what else I'd buy, but at least I'll be ready.

Can someone confirm that the GoD version of Dirt 3 has the online pass? I know it's been said in previous posts but I wanna be absolutely sure before I start spending money.

I'm glad for the good deals but, dang, was really hoping my wallet could take a break for a least a few months. I'm still recovering from xmas. I'm thinking:

D&D Daggerdale $1.99

Guardians of Middle Earth $1.04

Capcom Arcade Cabinet $1.74 (for 3 games including the Avengers, of course)

Dust $2.99

Drive SF $6.59

Dirt 3 $4.99

Radiant Silvergun $7.49 (been waiting for this to drop)

Bastion $2.99

AW: AN $2.99

Ridge Racer $4.99

Dante's Inferno $3.74

Another $41.54 and my backlog grows even larger.

Anything else I should add/remove? I already have Batman, Portal 2, Halo Reach and will get Mass Effect with the Trilogy.

Can anyone provide info on the racers? Good vs Bad, Arcade vs Simulation? I prefer arcade.

fuck fuck fuck fuck FUUUUCCCKKK

I was so close to working through my backlog and now it looks like I'm gonna end up inevitably adding a handful more games to the pile. Compounding this is the avalanche of great new shit coming out over the next few months!

South Park
Titanfall
Thief
Dark Souls 2
Ninja Gaiden Yaiba
Strider

Can't.....play.....all.....
I know that feel man, got South Park, Titanfall, Infamous Second Son, MGS V and Yoshi's New Island to look forward to next month. My wallet will never forgive me.

As for my opinions of the games on sale...

Bastion - one of my favorite arcade games of all time, great art, atmosphere and combat.  Absolutely recommend it, especially at this price.

Halo: Reach - I have a hard time believing there are many people who don't know what this game is and not many who don't have it if they don't want it, but it's an excellent game and the multiplayer is still pretty active.  At this price I don't see why you shouldn't if you're curious and still haven't got it.

Portal 2 - Nearly my favorite game of 2011, great puzzles, the co-op was surprisingly good, really funny and the game is surprisingly expensive these day at retail so this is a pretty decent deal.

Mass Effect - The shooting feels a bit clunky today and you can tell this was one of the earlier Unreal engine 3 games but the rpg mechanics are deeper than later entries.  This is still a pretty dang good game, at five dollars it's a steal and it's getting more expensive at retail so this is ideal.

Asura's Wrath - Not for everyone but if you enjoy anime, particularly Gurren Lagann, Dragon Ball or One Piece this will be right up your ally.  A lot of the game is composed of quick time events but their taken to such absurd levels that it's hard not to enjoy them.  If you're interested I'd highly recommend it, theres really nothing like it out there.

Fable III - It's hard for me to want to recommend this when it was free last summer.  Can't imagine there are many left out there who haven't gotten to play it.  On top of that you can already find it really cheap else where.  Even Gamestop sells it used for five dollars, so if you're going to buy it forget this sale.  As for my actual opinion of the game, it's not as good as Fable II, the interface and other aspects of the game have been changed needlessly from it's predecessors and rarely to it's benefit.  It's still a devent game but if you decide not to play it you're not really missing out on much

Batman: Arkham CIty - Man, I hope I'm not sounding like a broken record but this is a fantastic game and at this price you don't really have any excuse to pass it up.  I kinda preffered Arkham Asylum but this was still great game and defintely worth buying.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare - While the plot ans atmosphere are no where near as good as the original the combat is still pretty fun and the ending was at least pretty interesting.  For three bucks, why not?

Dammit, I bought Mass Effect 1 just a couple weeks ago  :wall:

Oh well, I'll buy it again just because I'd rather have it on the HDD than having to switch around all the time. For people who do have a digital copy, there's no problem importing the save into ME2 right?

What's Runner 2? I've never heard of it but the price is really tempting.

P.S. Guardians is(was) a fun game when it worked and the servers were good. Maybe more people buying it will get the stupid devs to fix it again. And Dust is an amazing game, even better at the $2 price point.

Suddenly I feel the need to jump on these deals immediately as if they might go out of stock if I wait until tomorrow.
The only time I can recall seeing a digital download go out of stock was the one flash sale on Steam for Mass Effect several years ago when it was 90% off... they ran out of keys for it.

OK. Only Dirt 3 and RR:U for me tonight. Don't have the time to sink into Batman or ME (not really into games like ME, anyway). The other stuff will just not get played.

...Okay, maybe Dust. It looks amazing... Probably be a cool playthrough.

So your do or die titles according to http://majornelson.com/2014/02/17/xbox-360-ultimate-games-sale/

Dishonored
Armored Core: Verdict Day
Dante’s Inferno
RUSE
Halo: Reach
Capcom Arcade Cabinet Arcade
Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien Arcade
Bastion Arcade

Those will only be lasting one day, not all week. So you can hold off on the other titles.

However, Ridge Racer Unbounded and DBZ are *NOT* listed. So they may be one day only or last all week. Choose wisely.

What is the difference between "Full Game - Capcom Arcade Cabinet" for $1.74 and "Capcom Arcade Cabinet - All-in-One Pack" for $24.99?

The All-in-One Pack has all the DLC cabinets (it's basically a Season Pass that adds 17 games) in it whereas the Full Game is really just three cabinets and then allows you to buy further DLC packs. It's sort of like The Walking Dead of The Wolf Among Us, you buy the base game and then later on buy future episodes/packs but in order to play those you need the base game.

I think the All-in-One Pack was on sale for maybe 50% off ages ago but I didn't bite because you still needed to buy the base game to access the All-in-One Pack. So be aware that the All-in-One Pack is just all the DLC and does not include the cost of the the base game. In saying that, the base game is now a bit over a dollar so it's a good bite for those who did buy the All-in-One Pack when it was on sale earlier but never bought the base game.

So your do or die titles according to http://majornelson.com/2014/02/17/xbox-360-ultimate-games-sale/

Dishonored
Armored Core: Verdict Day
Dante’s Inferno
RUSE
Halo: Reach
Capcom Arcade Cabinet Arcade
Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien Arcade
Bastion Arcade

Those will only be lasting one day, not all week. So you can hold off on the other titles.

However, Ridge Racer Unbounded and DBZ are *NOT* listed. So they may be one day only or last all week. Choose wisely.
Their gold exculsive. Most likely another random but decent DOTW

What is the difference between "Full Game - Capcom Arcade Cabinet" for $1.74 and "Capcom Arcade Cabinet - All-in-One Pack" for $24.99?

The version that is on sale contains 3 games. The rest are DLC packs and the All in One Pack is all the DLC. Take note that this doesn't include the 3 games included with the 'full' game. Yes, it is confusing.

Also fuck Trojan. I finished Ghosts'n'Goblins thrice and somehow Trojan was the game that broke me.

Bad. Either get the HD collection or try the Raging Blast series.
I thought the HD Collection was disappointing. There was censoring that wasnt present in the original releases and the soundtracks had been replaced.

I don't really like Raging Blast.

While I know Ultimate Tenkaichi was the same sort of style it's been almost five years since i played a Dragon Ball game, but if this is a genuinely bad game then I'll pass.

I'm not in the mood to go play raging Blasy again, espeically since those games are significantly more expensive than this sale

Thanks for the explanation. I guess I'll pick up the base game just in case the DLC goes on sale later.

Good timing for once on one of these sales, I actually have some money in my microsoft account.

*not as much as I'm going to wish I had though
