This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

soo 9.99 is still to much for Resident evil ORC?
i know its shit but can someone who slightly enjoy it tell me if its worth it
I played all the way through ORC and while it definitely has its issues I didnt find it as bad as everyone says. With that being said, I think $9.99 for a digital copy is too much, not only would you be sacrificing HDD space but the game can be found on disc for cheaper most likely.

I know you didnt ask about it but i'd have to suggest you purchase the Darkness 2 for $7.49 instead if you havent played it (Although this can likely be found on disc for less too). I thought the game was really good and enjoyed it a lot. I thought it improved on the first Darkness in just about every way aside from maybe the story, which is certainly debatable as well.

Also how do I create a spoiler tag in my post?

They have been having that problem recently. I had to delete and re-download Dante's Inferno three times before it actually downloaded fully.
Yeah, I kinda gave up on trying to download Walking Dead Season 2....I started my download of Strider though and that seems to be going without issue. Very strange. I guess I'll wait a day and try again.

I'll speak for those (all 10 or so of us) who enjoyed RE:ORC. It will definitely take you some time to get into the game as the shooting mechanics are worse than previous RE games. It took me awhile to realize I was even doing damage to the enemies. To me, that was the biggest flaw. I put too many hours into this game because after playing campaign plus DLC, I learned to actually enjoy the multiplayer. The story isn't the greatest or most complex, but if you're a RE fan you'll enjoy the story. It was cool to see known characters here and there throughout the game while playing with new characters. Each of them have unique perks too. I think it depends on how much of a RE fan you are. I consider myself a bigger than average RE fan and enjoyed ORC.

All that being said, you can find it cheaper on disc so I'd say don't jump on a 10 digital copy. 5.99 at Gamestop.

Thanks for the hint about the Harvester Bobby. I have to replay the first 1/3 of Darksiders from scratch due to some issues I had with achievements due to playing it offline while my account was tied to another console (I'm not an achievement whore but I just hate when I have all the end achievements for a game but none of the beginning ones) and that'll make it way easier and quicker for me.
No problem. Happy to help, and by all the likes I got, it seemed to help a lot of you on here. :)

For those of you who are buying Darksiders today and didn't see the post, go back a few pages and read it for a universal code for a free OP weapon early in the game.

Brothers was ok. I snagged it during the Christmas sale. But, it got boring toward the end.

TWD S2E1 for a buck? Couldn't pass on that. I am kind of hesitant to buy the season pass after the TWAU debacle though.
I couldn't pass on it either. Telltale is desperate for sales it looks like since their episodes are taking so long to release. Either that, or M$ is giving them good money.

As for the TWAU debacle, don't expect that to happen again now that it actually works. It took like a week, but it got resolved and all of us got free codes from it so, I'm not too upset.

Did TWD season 1 ep1 also get the $.99 price before eventually being free? I wish 400 days was discounted again too...

If TWAU is planned to be done by summer's end (according to the season pass info on the console, no idea if it's a placeholder date) then maybe TWD season 2 will be heavily discounted by next December for the holidays.
I believe it did, but iirc, it took like a year to go free. It did not hit the $1 mark this early. Honestly, it's like with TWAU. It's a steal because the episode came out recently and buying it means you're caught up with everyone else since there aren't any other episodes out.

Basically, for waiting 2 or 3 months, you're rewarded with a $4/$5 discount and you get caught up on the story to the same point as people who bought it day 1.

Episode 2 gets a trailer next week, I think. Expect Episode 2 to drop some time in March, early April at the latest.

As for the new sale, I'd say it's better than Day 3. Definitely gonna grab Bejeweled from Day 3, and TWD from today. Debating on Vikings. Already have 2 copies of SSFIV AE (one from the 25th Anniv. Collection, that's gathering a shit load of dust), and RE: ORC is overpriced, no surprise there.

I already have everything else. Kinda wish I hadn't gotten Brothers during the Xmas sale now and gotten either Flashback or Charlie Murder instead. Oh well, at this rate, those'll be on sale within the week.

I'd say the sole benefit of buying the Darkness 2 or RE: ORC in this sale is the double license, meaning if you have a second Xbox, you can enjoy the MP with someone else without buying another copy. But even then, the disc version of RE: ORC is cheap enough and the Darkness 2's MP is lacking.

However, unlike RE: ORC, Darkness 2 is a good game.

If you're a fan, I would HIGHLY recommend getting a physical copy of Darkness 2 because most copies are the LE version which comes with DLC not available for purchase on the marketplace (the DLC provides an alt skin for Darklings and 2 abilities for your character, one is a bonus for eating hearts, and one is a relic detector, both make the game easier, the latter bonus makes getting the achievements much less of a hassle since it basically broadcasts where any missable item is). That and the LE comes with a custom artwork, and a free digital download of Volume 1 and Volume 2 of the comics.

Sorry for the long post.

First the arcades died. Then the magazines. I still rock dat Game Informer hard copy in my hands. They'll have to pry it from my old, withered dead hand before I go digital!
Right there with ya, brother

Nothing can replace the serene feeling of sitting on the toilet taking a three flusher shit while thumbing through the latest issue of GI. Digital can't give me that.

Could not agree with you more. I deliberately set up my @Gamer sub in a way that I wouldn't have to go digital 'till later this year. Unfortunately, they switched everybody to digital anyways. Thought I could be one of the last lucky few to keep getting the physical mag. :(

Being a fan of burnout and splitsecond, I tried the demo of Ridge Racer Unbounded. After a few tries, I apparently couldn't get the hang of it, as I kept finishing 10th or 12th out of 12.  Is the demo's difficulty representative off the full game?

waaaat? I emailed them about a month ago asking to switch FROM digital to print, and they said no problem theyd make the change. are you saying no more print mag?

As far as I know, since the new Rewards program, all @Gamers will be digital. I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that January/February was the first digital-only issue. Considering I was only subbed 'till the end of Feb until the renew, it wouldn't make sense for me to be switched to a digital issue on my last one.

Edit: Here's what I found in their FAQ:

Q - How many times a year is @GAMER published and how can I subscribe?
A - @GAMER is published 10 times per year. A subscription is one of the many benefits of Best Buy's Rewards Zone Gamer's Club [Unlocked] membership. Sign up at your local Best Buy® store; - annual membership is US$14.99. Subscriptions to @GAMER are available only in the US in digital format.

Q – Can I buy a single issue?

A – Single issues of @GAMER are available for purchase only through the iPad app. Download and install the free app from the iTunes Store. Open the app, tap the Buy button of your selected issue, and follow the prompts. Coupons and other subscription offers are not included with single-copy purchases.

Since subscriptions and individual issues are only available digitally. I assume it's finally gone digital-only.

Edit 2: It apparently gets worse.

From the Best Buy My Gamers Club Unlocked FAQ:

Q: Where is my subscription to @Gamer?

A: If you are already an Unlocked member, you will continue to receive @ Gamer through the term of your membership. However, in May of 2014 we will no longer be offering it to members. New Unlocked members will not receive @ Gamer moving forward. The coupons included in your @ Gamer magazine will also be discontinued.

Yeah, you got lied to. Finally found something to clear it all up. @Gamer is ending in May. This is from the Best Buy forums.

CLARIFICATION OF @GAMER'S MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION HELP

‎02-07-2014 03:25 PM

My head is just spinning with this mess about @Gamer's Magazine.

Since my Gamer's Club Unlocked doesn't expire until 10/30/14. I thought I was supposed to get a PRINT version of the magazine until May 2014. I called Future US, the publisher of the magazine. I was told there was not a PRINT version of the magazine since the December issue. Only the DIGITAL version. I called Best Buy CS and was told. I should get a PRINT version of the magazine until May 2014. I called Future US back and told them this. They said, NO PRINT VERSION of the magazine is available!!! They also said that the DIGITAL VERSION OF THE MAGAZINE WOULD BE DISCONTINUED MAY 2014!!! This is news to me!!! I thought the PRINT version was going to be discontinued in May. But the DIGITAL version is going to be discontinued in May!!! NO @Gamer's Magazine at all after May 2014!!! Did I miss something???!!! What is going on here???

Re: CLARIFICATION OF @GAMER'S MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION HELP

Hello MadDog760,

Thank you for being a My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked member. I am sorry for any concern or confusion you've had with your new benefits. As you renewed in October, you would have been automatically renewed as a digital member, as this was the only option at that time. For more information on the changes to the Unlocked program, please see our post.

I'm sorry that the agent you spoke with on the phone was not clear on the changes, but as Future US has confirmed, there is no longer a physical magazine, and digital issues will be ending in May. You should have been receiving the magazine announcement emails since about November, so I will take a look at your account to ensure all is set properly. Please watch for a private message from me with more details.

Best regards,

I'm really fucking glad my sub ends this month. Even though they announced this 5 months in advance, that is bullshit.

I think people are talking about 2 different mags. GI is still in print, @Gamer went digital.

Edit: Nevermind, I guess @Gamer was still physical. Haven't seen one at BB in forever.

I considered that. But he quoted me saying @Gamer. Unless he just read it wrong.

Either way, I didn't know about them closing up shop in May until I did the research. And I'm sure some people in this thread might not have known that either.

What a shame, the mag wasn't that bad, even though it mainly served to get you to buy shit. I'm guessing the program was either not successful enough, or it's because Best Buy has been hurting financially and has been downsizing lately.

Edit: Sickman, they aren't physical at all, where did you see that?

They went digital-only since January, and they're not making any more issues past May.

Really?  Brothers on sale for more and I haven't even played it since buying it on sale last time.  I'm done paying half off for live games....

I thought the post above was saying they were staying physical until May, I assumed they had gone digital last year, because I hadn't seen any copies at Best Buy in months, but I still see those little coupon books. Sorry about that, I was confused by the confusion.

I don't know about you guys but I enjoyed Brothers.  It was a different game and refreshing.  Making up my own dialogue kept me entertained.  The puzzles were enough to keep me relaxed after a hard day at work.  I hope there will be a prequel or something like it.  I'm still confused about the dead giants.  I liked the game so much that I couldn't find the will to delete it from my ps3.

Personally I hope they don't make a prequel/sequel. The ending, and the overall story, was perfect that does not deserve to be ruined by making this a "franchise".

I get what you're saying, but I want the developers to make more games like it. The perfect balance of making more great games wtihout going the route of AC/ COD.

Cool, just finished TWD season one and was contemplating grabbing the first episode of season two at full price, luckily I didn't, so grabbed it at $1~

I bought and played through Viking years ago, and really enjoyed it. It's nothing spectacular, but it's fun, and easy to play. It's also easy on the eyes. Definitely recommend it at this price.

Is Tony Hawks HD worth it?  I had many sleepless drunk nights playing the first game with my friends back in 2000.

I bought it when it first came out during the Summer of Arcade and I had a lot of fun with it.The game does have a lot of bugs and glitches

*Cough* DownHill Jam *Cough* but I am not sure if they have fixed any of the glitches since I last played it.

Game you so pretty.

Side note. Just finished Dead Space tonight. Don't think I have it in me to play DS2 right away. These games make me sweat. I need a good dose of a Lego Game.

I picked it up day 1 and knocked it out in a day. My scores were in the top 30-100 on all the levels for quite a while, but when I got around to playing the dlc just a little while ago I noticed that they had plummeted. Apparently you can now use the revert in the original levels now that the dlc is out so it makes it a lot easier to combo obviously. Plus hackers....

I'm pretty pissed the DLC had no achievements. Bit of a screw job, but whatever. I enjoyed the game overall, but if you're a capable Tony Hawk player it is over far too soon and leaves you with little reason to go back and play it.

This game would have been awesome if it brought back the park editor....

Dead Space 2 took away the horror element and improved the shooting. Dead Space 3 took away the fun...
I am not a big horror fan but the atmosphere of Dead Space really drew me in. The sound was amazing in that game. I will be disappointed in 2 if there is at least not some of the alone feeling Dead Space did so well.

Dead Space 2 has a much different feel to it than 1. One huge thing is Isaac talks, and he talks a lot lol. Guess he didn't have a reason to talk in the first with the whole being alone vibe lol.

DS1 is just plain scary...DS2 was less scary but fun also. I played DS2 7 full times. 1 time was to obtain the hand cannon. Another one of those times was to just rape every thing in site with said hand cannon.

I missed the sale on Halo Reacharound, myself.
Well done, I approve. Thank you for contributing to our inner 12-year-olds discussion.

To Skyrim or not to Skyrim, that is the question.
Honestly, it depends on what you wanna do about the DLC. If you think you'd want to be able to download/install/delete it whenever, get the Legendary Edition. If you're okay with hard drive space, buy it this way, and then buy the Legendary Edition used from GameStop, download the contents, and return it within 7 days, or just rent it from somewhere and do the same. If you don't give a shit about the DLC (which you should, specifically about Dragonborn, maybe Dawnguard. Hearthstone not so much...) then just buy it this way and forget about it.

Thanks, gonna wait. Best Buy has it used for 12.99 plus GCU .I started it 3x in different spans and couldn't get into it.I want to but can't.

For a second, I thought the entirety of Season Two of the The Walking Dead was on sale for $0.99, but it's just the first episode. Microsoft should change the title of that game.

Fair enough. Were you a bigger fan of previous entries? Skyrim is a bit streamlined in comparison.

Easy mistake to make, but I'm pretty sure if that happened, the servers would crash immediately from all the marketplace traffic.

Not related to any sales or anything, but have any of you guys played and beaten All Zombies Must Die?  I was enjoying it at the beginning but now I'm about halfway through the game I think and I'm just getting my ass kicked.  So do I just suck or am I doing something wrong?

Bejeweled 3 is a blast! Glad I spent the dollar on it. I sat down for a game or two just to try it out and ended up playing for a couple hours. Get it while you can!

I'll let tomorrow's deals decide if I want to get Tony Hawk or not. So far from this sale I only got three games, mostly because I own majority of everything else that's gone on sale. Yup, that backlog...

Man, twenty dollars goes pretty quickly in a sale like this! So does your hard drive space... I thought 250 gigs would prepare me for anything but I'm already down to about 95 GB. Bummer!

So, regarding Dirt 3. Is it worth it? Keep in mind that I loved Sega Rally Championship on the Saturn, and it would have to be at that level of greatness for me to bite.

Got some bad news for you there Tyler. It actually gets even harder once you beat the game. So if you're looking to clean up the rest of the achievements/dev cards, you might want to figure out now what you may be doing wrong. As for what specifically you're doing wrong, I couldn't tell you since I can't watch you play. Consult GameFaqs (either the FAQs section or the forums if anyone's still there)?

Somewhat unrelated but here's my source for my info earlier about the trailer and March release of the next TWD episode.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/news/news-17388-New-The-Walking-Dead--Season-Two---Ep--2-Screens-Surface-Ahead-of-Early-March-Release.html

Take a lookie if you want to get hyped for the new episode.

Oh, and Bloomy, if you're reading, there's 2 free Battlefield 4 DLCs this week, and 2 next week. Add these to the OP.

02/18 - 02/24

Battlefield 4: Handgun Shortcut Kit - http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Battlefield-4-Handgun-Shortcut-Kit/1cc0ab0a-ce7f-4fb3-ad97-2c2864232cbe - 100% off ($0 instead of $5).

Battlefield 4: DMR Shortcut Kit - (No link, you have to go through the in-game menu) - 100% off (EXCLUSIVE TO BATTLEFIELD 4 PREMIUM)

02/25 - 03/04

Battlefield 4: Grenades Shortcut Kit - (No link yet, assuming it will be added next week) - 100% off

Battlefield 4: Shotgun Shortcut Kit - (No link, you have to go through the in-game menu) - 100% off (EXCLUSIVE TO BATTLEFIELD 4 PREMIUM)

By the way, these shortcut kits are free on ALL platforms, afaik. So Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC (through Origin) included. I can personally confirm PC, the rest is just based on what I've read.

Seems to be the smart play. I wish they had done this overnight early discount shit years ago.

I enjoyed it (for PC though), but that might be based off getting it during that Codemasters Weekly Sale on Humble Bundle. I think it's worth $5. Is there not a demo?

I can relate to $20 going quick, the DotW is the first good one since that shitty GTAIV week and we have another Ultimate Games sale.

I'm assuming since you enjoyed SRC on the Saturn, you got the XBLA SRC? I'm still kicking myself for not getting it on sale before it got delisted. Is it as great as everyone says?

Unrelated question: The ratings for the Ridge Racer DLC are terrible. Is it people unhappy at the amount of content for the original price, or is the DLC that bad? It's dirt cheap, but is it not even worth that little?

Edit: Shit, I doubleposted. But I don't want to make that first post into a behemoth.

Eh, for five dollars it seems smarter to just get the whole thing, rather than wait hours for a demo download to finish, and do it all over again if I liked it. I'll give a purchase some thought.

I don't have Xbox SRC, sorry! Now I'm wishing I'd gotten it, too! :p

The trial converts into the full game if you buy the full game. You don't need to redownload.

I'm sure some racing junkie can give you a better answer during daylight hours.

That sucks. The only reason I passed on it when it was on sale prior to delisting was because, like an idiot, I thought I already owned it. When in fact, all I owned was the trial..

I managed to get Outrun before it got delisted though, at least. Did you get that one?

See, that would be true if it were an arcade game. Dirt 3 is a GoD, and demos don't "unlock" like that. The reason trials work like that is because the dev is required to make a trial mode for their game when they release and the easiest way is just to lock the full version behind the paywall. Demos are an entirely different beast, as they're not mandatory, and are often smaller as they showcase only select segments from the game. Otherwise all demos would be full-sized games (which only makes piracy easier, tbh). Demos have pretty much remained the same since the days they shipped on demo discs.

Yes dude, Dirt 3 is great, it's pretty much a combination of Dirt 1 and Dirt 2. I also lost hours just "gymkhana-ing" and messing with friends at the power station environment.
