This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Last Light for $20? COME ON, WHATS WITH YOU MAN! /Dark Helmet voice

That shit was FREE on PS+. I would have even bit on $9.99. Boooo.

Picked up Oblivion though. $3.74? fuckin A. Never got around to finishing it back in the day, think I'll give a whirl later next month.

Bleech, those are terrible deals! I think I'll break down and get Double Dragon Neon for the full retail price. After the fits I had playing Spelunky earlier today, I don't think it's safe for me to get Dark Souls. :p

For anyone considering Puzzle Quest 2, be aware the game lasts forever. About halfway through I just wanted it to end. The battles are very drawn out, and I almost never died. I felt it didn't live up to the first. Nice price, though.

Also, luck based achievement for an opponent killing you on their first turn. Total bitch to earn.
I liked it as a game I could play for 20 minutes in bed before falling asleep (Windows Phone Version, 200/200). Personally I have trouble playing "mobile games" on Xbox. Same reason I didn't get far with the first Puzzle Quest on Xbox. It feels weird, like I should be playing something else while I'm using the Xbox. For some reason though, I can play Bejeweled 3 on Xbox just fine without feeling weird.

Looks like my final purchases will be Asura's WrathGuardians of Middle-Earth, and maybe Alan Wake's American Nightmare. Maybe Rock of Ages.
I have yet to play through to completion of RDR, but I think I just want the GOTY edition at this point

Still have Skyrim to finish, so Oblivion isn't appealing.
Playing GTA V, I can wait on Saint's Row IV
Overlord 2 was okay, but with my growing backlog: I'm good

So final haul will most likely be

  • Walking Dead: Season 2 - Episode 1
  • Brothers
  • Runner 2
  • Asura's Wrath
  • Guardians of Middle-Earth
  • Alan Wake's American Nightmare
All in all, I made out great. Now to finish BioShock, and then it's sequel. And start Metal Gear Rising. And Dark Souls.........

......yeah......

dont they do sales for monday too or no not this time around??

lol nevermind it is for monday forgot

sorry still thinking like my birthday lol

They were doing you a favor. You obviously had a problem.

I know people will hate me for bringing this up, but ouch, I think it was a bad idea to put up Metro:LL for $19.99 in this sale. The same month that PSN+ folks got it for free. Just sayin.

Since there's nothing on the final day for me, now I have to decide on Ridge Racer: Unbounded. I downloaded the demo and loved it, but dang is it hard. I was lucky to not come in last let alone come even close to winning.

I don't hate people for saying it that way. I hate Sony fanboys who try and rub it in. Its MS fault for not keeping on par.

I didn't like Ridge Racer Unbounded that much at all. I loved the old school DR though. That drifting was fun.

I have a gaming PC coming tomorrow and I bought the Civ Humble Bundle, so I suppose my question is is Tropico 4 worth it for a console experience? I like those kind of games.

I think you will be just fine with the Civ bundle. 100s of quality hours to spend there without trying to play a game that really isn't optimized for a console.

Im on the fence with ME1 ... there is no demo so i cant tell...

How well does it look on standard def... can i read the text? Or is it like Dead Rising?
I think only mass effect 2 had the small text for standard def.

and if you've never played a Mass Effect game before...buy it, right now.

Skyrim fans, how is Oblivion? Never played it. LOVED Skyrim but can Oblivion provide a similar experience? Detailed comments much appreciated!
It is probably my 3rd favorite game of all time! I liked it even more than skyrim, which I thought was awesome. Oblivion's main story is more exciting, and the guild's are all way better than in skyrim. The soundtrack is beautiful too, just like skyrim's. Another great thing about Oblivion is the inclusion of Athletics and Acrobatics as Skills that can be leveled. Running really fast and jumping really high is a lot of fun. The only flaw with the game is the confusing levelling system. Overall, it is an amazing game I highly recommend it!

Hmmm. Did not get much this sale. Still trying to decide on Driver:SF for $6.74?  Not big on driving games but this one seems different enough I might like it.

I loved the first PQ. I did the same thing with PQ2. Just play for an hour before bed, was so boring for me at the end I just ignored anything I wasn't forced to fight. I guess it made for a great sleep aid.

Nothing for me these past few days. This sale kinda went out with a whimper. I really want Metro, but it looks $5-$10 too much for something that will go at the end of the backlog.

It makes me sad that this Adventure Time game is apparently terrible and disappointing.

I passed on Rock of Ages last time it was on sale, but I'm definitely picking it up this time, it's just too unique and charming.

Don't know whether Galactrix or 2 fixed this, but Puzzle Quest(the first) is bullshit. It clearly favors the AI, unlike say Clash of Heroes where it's luck of the draw for either side.

Skyrim fans, how is Oblivion? Never played it. LOVED Skyrim but can Oblivion provide a similar experience? Detailed comments much appreciated!
I liked it when I played it years ago, but looking back I think Shivering Isles is the only thing that makes it worthwhile. I mean, the Dark Brotherhood stuff is cool, and the Thieves' Guild questline ends on a badass note, but besides that it's kinda bland as a whole, especially coming from Skyrim. Cyrodiil doesn't have as varied a landscape as Morrowind or Skyrim. And I recall the daedric prince stuff, which is great in Skyrim, not being all that interesting here. None of this is even touching on NPC "interaction".

If you have access to or plan on getting Shivering Isles though, definitely get.

Bleech, those are terrible deals! I think I'll break down and get Double Dragon Neon for the full retail price. After the fits I had playing Spelunky earlier today, I don't think it's safe for me to get Dark Souls. :p
Spelunky is a harsh and whimsical mistress.

Possible to enjoy oblivion, having never plAyed it, after loving Skyrim?

Thx
Oblivion was the first Elder Scrolls game I played and I hated it. I never really got into it. I thought it was boring and bland. Because of that, it took me a while to finally give in and play Skyrim, which I love.

Cool, picked up Pool Nation for $1.

I like the Tropico games but I just picked up ANNO 2070 on Steam sale recently so I'm good.

If you haven't played Oblivion but you loved Skyrim... haha I don't think you'll like Oblivion. That'll be a step back although I highly enjoy Oblivion & Shivering Isles.

Also have the Overlord series on PC, Codie's Humble Bundle.

I was the select few that really like Puzzle Quest 2, yeah according to Raptr I played 83 hours of that game, with multiple characters and what not. I liked the different classes but yeah that was a perfect game to play while listening to gaming podcasts.

Limbo is great, esp at 80% off.

Will prob nab Rock of Ages

Overall I nabbed:

Alan Wake: American Nightmare  -- missed it last sale

Guardians of Middle-Earth

Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit

Rock Band Blitz

Motocross Madness

The Cave

Sonic Generations

Pool Nation

Had to do some rearranging on my 320 GB hard drive, deleted some installed 360 games, old videos and what not but I'm good for now. Really wish they had the option to sort your hard drive via date last used instead of just size. Deleted a bunch of old stuff I didn't use anymore.

I thought if even if you license transferred you still have to be online to play Indie games?

There's demos for 2 & 3 so you can try those. I just bought it myself having never played, and from what I understand, it has the better RPG elements compared to the other two but weaker gameplay (shoot/cover), and derpy loading screens.

Overall I don't think this was a bad sale, but it wasn't anything amazing either. I just picked up a few of the arcade games since they are so cheap I figured why not. I got Alan Wake, Soul Calibur II, Pool Nation, and the Cave. I'm actually having a bit of fun playing SCII, it brings back a lot of memories of playing that on the Gamecube when I was younger. I used to rent that game for weeks on end because Giant Eagle (when they still had a video store) kept sending me free rental coupons in the mail. Good times.

The prices for the Games on demand seemed pretty good but I just can't bring myself to buy full digital games when I can get a physical copy, saves me the space on the HD and all that.

Here's to hoping this DLC sale will be awesome.

Why the fuck does everyone keep assuming there's a DLC sale? Ultimate Game Sale has happened like 3 or 4 times now in a row once a year and there's never been an "Ultimate DLC Sale" to follow suit ever.

I don't know why the hell Microsoft is so hell bent on making everyone buy Dark Souls! Seriously, 3 times on sale in the span of a couple of months? Now I am expecting it to be the free games for gold game next month.

Well Dark Souls II is releasing next month...

Knock on wood. On the other hand, it might be the only way for some of my friends to try it and having some jolly co-op and PvP with them.

Oh sweet!  I was under the impression that I couldn't earn Avatar Awards anymore because they downloaded once you unlock them. Apparently that's not the case because I earned a few in Dragon's Lair and they are available to me.  Yay!

Anyways, done with Space Invaders Extreme.  On to JoyRide Turbo.

The logical connection is OK now you've got the games, here's the deals for their DLC but in actuality that's where they'll make their money, on the DLC.

Ahh thanks ooga, I forgot about grabbing Hell Yeah, fun game. Missed Runner 2, that's the only other one I would have gotten.

Ended up picking up Rock Band Blitz. My guitars were thrown out and buying replacements are way too much than I'm willing to pay for a game I'll barely play right meow. Looking forward to play old DLC.

Glad I waited and didn't bite on RR:U this morning. Took Oblivion instead. Already had all the dlc bought, but played the game so much it's why my dvd drive failed so many times.

So, stuff gotten from this sale, which also includes duplicate stuff from recent sales, was Oblivion, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Fallout 3.

Now I just need a 120gb drive to magically appear at my house and I'll be all set till next Christmas.
