This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Arkham Asylum and Arkham City were two of the best games ever made. It had it all. Story. Gameplay. Characters. Everything. I EAGARLY wait for Arkham Knight.

Borderlands 2, however, I was burnt out to shit with that game well into the DLCs. Not having a level cap increase with the first DLC automatically killed it for me. Now they're just fishing for some extra cash. Man hours and money down the drain with these new DLCs that could've been easily used as ammo for the next title. Plus, them making the "Pre-Sequel" on past gen only is another dumb move. "Not enough install base" my ass.

I loved Asylum and City.  Great atmosphere, combat, graphics, had it all.  2 great games.  Origins is the ugly stepchild though.

I don't understand how some can love Asylum but hate City.

AC is pretty much AA on steroids.
Didn't like the open world feel of it, myself. It was also kind of grindy to get through. Story was great, but I prefer Asylum. I never touched Origins, and will not due to the devs abandoning the fixes for DLC. That said, Knight looks great, and I'll probably pick it up someday.

I didn't hate AC but it just didn't capture me like Asylum did. I think I bought the whole notion of the Asylum being overrun, but I couldn't quite buy the whole nature of part of a city being blocked off and turned into a jail cell, it just didn't make much sense to me. Like some other people I too didn't quite like the open world nature of things. I thought Asylum was a perfect video game other than maybe the fight with Killer Croc and the end fight with Joker. City is a great game but doesn't recapture the magic of the original. I also thought that playing the game as Catwoman watered down the gameplay for me. Just let me play as Batman. That's all I wanted. All these years later I still want to replay Asylum, but I can't be bothered to buy the DLC for AC to even add a few more hours of gameplay.

But then again I'm also one of the few people who think that Mass Effect 1 was the best of the bunch. So just feel free to pay little attention to me. Maybe I'm just one of those folks who The Prize Fighter Inferno mentioned doesn't like steroids.

That's a great analogy of how I felt about City...after half an hour.

This.

One of the biggest characters of Arkham Asylum was the Asylum itself. The place had history to discover, tales to be told, and questions that needed answering. Detective gameplay worked much better in this space than a city. Also, as I progressed along the game I started to question if the Asylum was worth saving. What was more monstrous - the "normal" people running the Asylum or the criminals it incarcerated?

I walked away from Arkham Asylum trying to analyze some of what I just experienced.

I walked away for Arkham City feeling.....beat up. lol

The first 2 gave me that "I'm Batman" feeling. Everything felt smooth and I was able to take out bad dudes with style. The 3rd game was pretty much the same as 2nd (at least the parts I've played), but there wasn't that epic feeling of "I'm Batman"

100% agreed and I know what you mean by that. ME 1 and Dragon Age Origins were the last true organic Bioware games, before EA "arcaded" everything the fuck up.
That might be the best way I've seen that summed up lol

Is warface worth playing? I'm still downloading the update... been an hour and I'm at 48 percent.

Can anyone talk me OUT of buying City?

The only negatives I can say about Arkham City are that the Catwoman-related missions felt tacked on to me and the Riddler trophy collecting can get a little tedious. Beyond that, it's a fantastic game. Asylum might be a little bit better, but City is still one of my absolute favorite 360 games.

It's in the title of the thread, so I guess you did a good job of ignoring it.
I Don't watch the message boards... I check my notifications on the mobile app. Sorry I'm not more involved 😄

Seriously though... it's been since black Friday ad time that I've not even seen the front page of CAG. You guys do a swell job of leaving a link here to the new thread when this one fills up. I saw the link to the sale posted here and I didn't click on it because I don't have a Sony console.

Come at me bro lol

Have to politely disagree with you there. Batman: Arkham City was a great game yet it might have been lessened by being the sequel to the original. We see this all the time in games and movies. Something big comes out and wows everyone, woah where'd that come from, and then the sequel comes out and is as good as the previous yet the wow factor has disappeared and the perception of meh starts to sift into the mix. I really liked Arkham City, as a Batman fan it was great to continue to go deeper into that universe with all the nit-picked details that Rocksteady put into the game.

I think you guys might have your nostalgia glasses on. I quite loved Mass Effect 1 but with the improvements made to the series with Mass Effect 2, the first game's visuals and gameplay mechanics feel dated going back to it as Mass Effect 2 feels like a better game. Texture pop-ins, overally long elevator rides, an inventory system like a child's never ending Christmas list, the painstakingly process of driving everywhere to explore and find resources (hey Team Mako though) and clunky combat soured the epic nature of Mass Effect 1. Mass Effect 2 fixed the texture pop-ins, eliminated the elevator loading sequences, streamlined the inventory and planet exploration as well as refined the combat, design mechanics, & the gam's UI. Mass Effect 3 refined it even more by refining the inventory, RPG tech tree and planet exploration.

I'm pretty sure CAG Law is that you have to buy them all regardless of platform ownership or it's a CAG Felony count of Negligence.

It's killing me in Mass Effect 1. I didn't have this problem with either of the other Mass Effects or any other game, but I can't play ME 1 for more than 45-60 minutes without having to take a break.
I wonder if motion blur in general gives you guys problems or if it's well done maybe it doesn't affect you as much? The motion blur & depth of field in Ryse is simply amazing, but i'm not sure if it would give you guys problems.

Watching that gif, I would think I'd get sick from the game, but I didn't.

Kinect Sports Rivals is great. Feels much smoother than the first 2 games (They were probably best Kinect games on 360)

EDIT: Was hoping I'd unlock mini games by progressing story, but I read online they took out mini games. Also no random online play. Rivals is a bit disappointing now.

I don't get sick from motion blur, it's just so fuck ing ugly to look at.  I haven't seen it so bad in a game in a long time, but Fable 2 it's just terrible.  If you run or move the camera too quickly it's so easily noticable.  The game actually looks better to me when I take my glasses off.

Also Fable 2 is really really boring compared to the original so far.  Big wide areas with very little to do.  D-Pad commands don't feel nearly as intuitive in the original, it's like they're trying to do to much.  Menu is even more burdensome than the original, which I didn't think was possible.  And no HUD mini-map is awful, especially when roaming around towns looking for a particular shop.

I'm going to keep playing but so far I don't really like it...

Yeah, Mass Effect 1/2 is sort of like that for me where the film grain and the overexposed lights on the Normandy make it look worse than it should. That and the eyes/eyelashes

I didn't expect Mass Effect 3's DLC to be so huge. With the first disc's install, it'll be about 20GB total with Omega/Citadel/Ext. Cut/Leviathan/From Ashes and the free MP DLC, which is huge at a little less than 10% of my HDD.

That's nothing. Look at Battlefield 3 and its content.

I wonder if motion blur in general gives you guys problems or if it's well done maybe it doesn't affect you as much? The motion blur & depth of field in Ryse is simply amazing, but i'm not sure if it would give you guys problems.

I don't think you could get motion sickness from a gif. I believe the difference between Mass Effect 1 and Ryse would be prevalent towards that too because Ryse is running at more frames per second at a higher resolution, game on beefy system.

Yeah when I decided to just go on and play Battlefield 4 I cleared up a lot of space by getting rid of my Battlefield 3 content, HD install and updates.

I can't say it's better than KS1. I was actually pretty disappointed with the game overall. The new bowling isn't nearly as good as it was in ks1. The rock climbing is a frustrating joke, along with tennis. The shooting isn't bad at all, a little boring but tracks well. Soccer is pretty bad but I won't say it's the worst event. The wave racing is very good and tracks almost flawlessly. Why the other events can't achieve the same is beyond me.

For the kinect 2's flagship game, it's pretty much a letdown. It's definitely not a game that'll sell consoles and likely will push some away. MS needed this game to be awesome and failed at that. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not jumping ship here and I can see the future potential of the k2. All this game really achieved is ammo for fanboys on the other side.

Is there like a GOTY with all the dlc or something?
No. I got the game on the cheap from Gamefly and some of the DLC on the rare occasions of sales, but that's about it. I just finished ME2 and wanted to hop into ME3 with the DLC from the start and was surprised at the large file sizes of the DLC.

Yeah KS1 is still my favorite Kinect game. Rivals was fun at first, but got boring fast. I like menus and how it knows your hand is open. That's pretty much the only improvement. Story mode with unskippable cutscenes drove me bonkers.

I couldn't finish the last rock climbing event when you're picking which team to play for. Tried it a few times and kept falling off the wall. By far the worst event I thought. I finally put it back in the gamefly envelope and sent it back. I may pick it up down the road again for cheap but it'd have to be around $10 I think.

I'm assuming mini-games will be added as DLC, but who knows. Some of the better mini-games were added as DLC for KS1. I haven't played Rivals but I think it's a bit odd that most of the sports were sports in the first two KS games. Other than a few minor quibbles with the original KS1 bowling and tennis I thought they were implemented almost perfectly - not sure if I could justify rebuying those experiences in a new package.

Glad to hear that Rare has done a decent job with KS:R - but yeah no random online play is weird in a game that states "Rivals." Just wish Rare would stop fiddling with the Kinect and get back to making me sweat all over my controller.

EDIT: Just a thought, but is anyone surprised that Microsoft hasn't continued the Kinect Adventures! brand more with a new title for the Xbone? Considering how well it sold (yes it was bundled and hence sales were inflated) it's surprising that they haven't tried to create some brand recognition from it. For a glorified tech demo I still had a fair bit of fun with it.

They actually made Tennis worse in my opinion. Bowling felt better. I was able to spin when I wanted to without problems.

Climbing can be annoying. I had trouble with the team one, but got it on my 3rd try. Focus on speed and making sure your hands are fully opened/closed. I kept hitting the ceiling and the game would have trouble seeing me

Crap, a rather fast process occurred for one out of the three Fallout 3 DLC I didn't have and downloaded it. F, did I already have those other two and now paid for them twice!?  :wall:

Decided to buy Knife of the Dunwall and The Brigmore's Wtiches even though I haven't played the main campaign yet.

Are the Dunwall City Trials worth it or am I better off saving those cents for some cheap arcade in the future?

Anyone care to comment on the enjoyment of the saints row iv season pass from the single player perspective?
Was tucking also about state of decay dlc but reviews seemed to pan it.
Thanks!

For anyone that got in on the free saints 4 season pass being free in Oman? Did the season pass work with your regular account? I know speak of this is taboo, so I do apologize. I just need to know if I need to.buy the season pass while it's on sale.

Any opinion on the Pacman dlc? I've already gotten all of the achievements, is there any reason to grab it?

So that Season Pass Sale tab on the Xbox sales and specials tab just shows regularly priced Season Passes? That's misleading...or these passes will be on sale next week.

Forza Horizon
Forza 4
Halo 4
Gears Judgement
Gears 3

New skins, music and stages. I like one of the new skins in particular. But if you only played it for the chievos, you can live without the DLC, since they don't add new ones.

Id save it for now. If you really love everything else they will be on sale again. I bought them, but quickly moved onto the story DLC, and I enjoyed this game immensely

someone I know would also like to know this. Knight does it even show up as anything on your HDD?

I deem this sale rather dumb as it's all random DLC. Maybe I'll check out PAC-MAN though.

Crap I forgot about State of Decay DLC. Thanks for the reminder. Almost missed it.
So I went to buy State of Decay before realizing this sale is dumb and unclear on the Xbox site and thought it was the actual game on sale which looks very neat. The DLC sounds neat as well, almost like the added time in Dead Rising, but I can't see myself paying $20 for the base game.

Is it worth buying the DLC at this price and is The base game something that's likely to go on sale at some point?

I bought about $20 of Pinball tables. Pinball FX 2 is so fun. I figure these tables should hold me over until the next sale, at which point I'll buy the rest. Each table gives at least 5 hours of play, and up to 100 depending on how much you like it.
