This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Me on Monday nights:

84307ed629d069f45bd83f7e04d3b3a0.jpg

But, another week with nothing for me, unless there is something good on X1 tomorrow.  I suppose it's for the best, I have stuff in my backlog to play.  This is probably the quiet before E3.

Alright so tekken or armored core? Heard the servers are shutdown for AC. Is there enough single player content? any split screen coop? I bought tansformers wfc last sale is the combat similar in feel at all?

The servers for Verdict Day are fine, they shut down the servers for 5 to get everyone consolidated into the newer game. Verdict Day only came out in September.
There's a fair bit of solo content, depending on what you're into, and all of the online stuff can also be played solo. On top of having the most complex mech/character builder of any game (bar some earlier ACs) it's also got probably the most complex AI programmer of any game to use building partner mecha. I don't really know about transformers but it's almost certainly nothing like it.

Back from UFGTX with a lil extra spending money. Was hoping for some deals I'd want this week. I'll probably end up renting Watch Dogs instead.

Thanks for the reply. It looks like something I'd be interested in. Unfortunately it also sounds too time consuming for my family life right now.

As it stands right now it looks like this maybe the first solid stretch of a month where I bought nothing on XBox since DotW started. So good job, Microsoft I guess?
That was almost me... then tekken tag 2 broke my willpower. I'm enjoying every bit of it too... I love having a hard drive with all of my fighters on it. 89 gigs of fighting games and counting now 😀

COD Ghosts Digital Hardened is showing up as $39.99 for me on the X1, granted I own Ghosts so not sure if that's just some sort of upgrade deal price. Which I think it is.

Quite unimpressive sales there. I kinda liked the demo for AvP back then, but I fear it would be forever buried in my backlog. Not going to buy Aliens: CM, maybe an even cheaper used copy, don't really want to encourage Gearbox by buying their broken product. Kinda considering the Alien Breed trilogy, that's a good price for 3 games, I'll have to try the demo a bit though.

Finally! A game I own and beat goes on sale. Alien Hominid is worth $5. Be warned that it gets really difficult fast and there's not much of a story. Just arcade shooting where you will die a lot.  Some of the minigames are fun too.

I noticed there is DLC for it. Any recommendations?

I'm tempted to get Aliens: Colonial Marines since I enjoyed Aliens vs. Predator. What is the filesize for Colonial Marines?

Alien Breed is a game I tried on PS3 and couldn't get in to. If you like those overhead type of games, knock yourself out.

As someone mentioned earlier, this feels like a slow period to get us prepared for E3 so I don't mind these sales. Still would have been nice to have classic Call of Duty on sale.

Stay away from Colonial Marines. One of the worst games for the 360. You'd get more enjoyment out of being kicked in the nuts while playing Superman 64. You've been warned.

CM isn't as bad as people make it sound. It is really fun in co-op. I wouldn't recommend it for $10 though because the game can be picked up for a lot less. Think I paid $5 and my friend found it for $2.

I've never played Superman 64 so I have to ask:

Worse than Amy?

Between that and only having 5 GB's left on my drive, I will pass.

Its universally agreed upon as one of the worst games ever made (next to ET).
Whoa whoa whoa. Colonial Marines wasn't that bad, it was just mostly a failure to live up to hype, and a waste of potential because Gearbox is Gearbox (scummy outsourcers who only took on the project for money from Sega which could go towards BL/BL2 development).

I thought DNF was worse, tbh. And there are definitely worse games that exist. The big deal about this was the false advertising, false promises and the huge amount of Aliens fans this let down (we've been let down pretty consistently since AvP2).

Hold on, hold on.... Worse than Superman 64? You do know you just stepped into forbidden soil ? Seriously is it that bad ??

I was worried about saving the MS credit I have left for E3 sales, MS is making it very easy for me. Besides TTT2, I haven't bought anything in months.

I was referring to Superman 64.

A poor sales week is fine with me because I just picked up Watch Dogs at BB, score.

Lol you guys have got to watch Xplay Golden Mullet Awards, pretty sure they had Superman 64 on it at one point.

ACM is just such a drastic difference to what they previewed it as, not hardly as pitiful as Aquaman or Ride or Die lol.

God, I miss that show!

Watch Dogs multiplayer is much fun. We used to do this in Red Dead. Pick an npc skin and walk around town hiding in plain sight from friends. I'll be streaming multiplayer for an hour or so if anybody wants to check it out.

EDIT: Ended stream early. Servers aren't doing well today. Hopefully it will be better tonight or tomorrow. The few matches I was able to play were fun.

As others have mentioned, I haven't bought anything from Deal of the Week for months now. Actually, only thing I got was Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet and that was because I resisted the sale from like, three years ago at only 50% off. Worth the wait all these years IMO.

Waiting for a publisher deal as always or an E3 blowout

Spent the last week talking myself out of buying tekken. If ms would allow us to use our credit on the website i would have bought it this morning at work. Ah well....

lets hope they're holding back some good deals for E3 week.  In the meantime, my ms credit from bing just keeps piling up.  My gold subscription expires in a couple months so they'd better start working some gwg magic if they want to keep me in the fold.

I have taken my bing points and gotten Amazon credit since there have been too many repeats/not as deeply discounted as before deals. I went ahead and got some Jeff Dunham stand-ups on Blu Ray since they were so cheap. So to Microsoft and their crappy deals lately I say......

wow, shame on me for not realizing the GWGs for June had already been announced.  I suppose it's not a bad group of games, though none actually appeal to me.  I suppose I'll give Dark Souls a try, though I'm not a fan of punishment.

When talking bad games, I have the feeling most people don't remember the state of gaming 10-20-30 years ago. We're used to triple-A titles, the only not-so-polished titles nowadays are sold for like a buck on the Xbox Indie or the App Store. Nowadays we call "worst game ever" stuff that is simply boring or that has hilarious glitches, but are somewhat playable if usually boring or uninteresting. Amy is nowhere near an unplayable game: it's basically a lenghty escort mission and the save system sucks, but that's some bad design choices. The game usually works (not that many glitches), graphics are fine, and the mechanics work okay. Same goes for Colonial Marines: yeah, the graphics dumbed down, it's linear, it has glitches, but no, not quite the worst game ever, and not even if we only count retail. Superman 64 is already more like it, but does anyone remember the crappy ports and clones of old games? Those hilariously bad Doom, Mario, Pac-Man clones and ports? Did everyone forget Big Rigs (I played it!)? All those terrible, terrible simulation games overcrowding the PC market right now (farming, parking, bus driving, construction worker... seriously?). That would-be-sucky-even-for-a-Flash-game Yaris thing? Ugh. Amy is the worst game ever or up there with the "best" ones? You don't know bad gaming, oh no, you don't. I do and some memories will just never go away. Duke Nukem Forever, Aliens, Amy... these are amazing considering some of the crap I had the chance to play.

Having said that, don't buy Aliens.

A bad game now is more a disappointing game. There are a ton of bad games on 360 that nobody mentions because they had low expectations going in.

It's also true that I have a hard time thinking of retail games nowadays that are really, truly, unplayable and broken beyond limits like Big Rigs. Ride To Hell comes to mind based on gameplay videos or reviews, but again, not on Big Rigs' level. Nowadays there's massive quality controls and day one patches so it's rare to see giant turds, if not in the indie scene perhaps, but Aliens, Amy, Duke Nukem Forever... nowhere near that bad because at least they more or less work. Big Rigs had no physics, no collision detection, no speed limit in reverse, glitched menus, game crashes, no opponent AI, floating lights, giant missing features... I also disliked Deadlight for one (Act 1 was awesome but from Act 2 it was terrible), but at least it was mostly working, it's a game. Some stuff can barely be called a game, even.
