  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I only own an Xbox One, but I've been "purchasing" the Games with Gold games for the 360 online - in hopes of someday getting one so I have a nice collection to start with. It's worked well for me until this month. I went to purchase "Dark Souls" and was greeted with this error message: "Is this your first purchase? To ensure it is compatible, please sign in to Xbox LIVE using your console and try again."

My question is will I need a 360 from now on to download the games? Or is this just a weird error that will fix itself? For the record, I'm signed into my Gold Account and was able to download Worms Battlegrounds after purchasing it.

 
Well i'm done. Been waiting so long for a sale on DS DLC, and since it's not on sale with DS being GwG it means that they plan the get some money from the DLC therefore i just got a big F*** you. Think i'll end up going for it if we get another shitty week sales.

Since E3 is a week away, I'm thinking they're going to have a sale that gets people pumped and full of energy. Therefore, I'm predicting a sale .....

on Kinect games. If that includes Dance Central DLC, I'm happy.

 
Aside from the really shitty rap version of MKX that has no place in the world, I'm stoked for it. That and Homefront 2. Can't wait for E3.
 
Weird that Forza is coming to the 360 as well, hopefully that doesn't mean the One version doesn't get as much attention, that said definitely looking forward to that (And Homefront and MKX)

 
Not really, if you think about it I think they want to build up hype and what better way than FH2 and 360 love. I'm gonna go out on a limb here but I'm just guessing their E3 will be all current-gen, or like 80% of it.

Considering how fast MS dropped support for the original Xbox even before the 360 was out, it's nice to see them continue first party support for the 360 even with the Xbox One out.

 
Well dark souls managed to get me bored and disinterested before I died. I don't know if that's a testament to my skills or my adhd.

(I get why people would enjoy it, I just felt the mechanics were clumsy and awkward, same with the presentation & logic)

Xbone with its new gen graphics did not escape far as far as the graphics go. When I see the same 360 game that is on the XboxOne, I only see the improved version. Maybe it's just me? Maybe I was expecting too much of next gen graphics? I have played Titanfall on both 360 and Xbone, yes X1 version is more solid, crispier and vivid; however the experience was the same.

IMHO it would be stupid on MS part to drop support for 360 because it still has a lot of potential, especially graphics wise. Hack if they can make a game like Dead Space 2 with such an amazing graphics, which literately looks like next gen on my 1080p screen it would be dumb to drop support for a system that can deliver great gaming experience.

That's because Microsoft tried a new thing and entered the console business, bleeding money in the end. They had to cut support with the original Xbox, least it drag them down with it.
 
Ok guys, don't misunderstand my comment. I know why MS stopped supporting the original Xbox how it did. But whether they had kept supporting the original Xbox or not after the 360's launch I'm still glad they're supporting the 360 so much. I'm sure I'm not the only one either.

I tried to start it last night and am having trouble getting interested in it. Fighting in dark hallways and tunnels makes me feel like I stepped back in time to Diablo 1 era. Does it get better?

"UPDATE: To clarify, the Playground Games is developing solely for the Xbox One version, using Forza Motorsport 5's graphics engine as a baseline. The Xbox 360 version is being handled separately by Sumo Digital, using Forza Horizon 1's graphics engine as a baseline."

Sumo Digital does good work (Sonic Transformed). Both versions should come out pretty good then, good to hear. :)

Of course I know, I owned them. But back then compared with others, MS was on top of things unlike right now where the competition has surpassed them for the most part.

I agree, but you really have to want it to enjoy it. Both Dark Souls start out like "Here's the world, now go have fun you crazy kids!". I spent a half hour wandering around the open area of Part two recently before I realized there was a back door in the fire watcher house. I killed that big ugly thing thinking he was protecting some area I needed to go. There is almost zero hand holding, even pointing you in the right direction - and in absence of it, you might go do something you really don't want to do. It is fun and rewarding to figure it out, but it can be frustrating.

Part one had me stuck on the first big boss in the initial area, until I realized there was a better way than just going head on. Once I got that, then it all clicked. I have a feeling a whole lot of people are going to download it, get to that guy get pounded into dust a few times and say "screw this".

I spent a half hour wandering around the open area of Part two recently before I realized there was a back door in the fire watcher house. I killed that big ugly thing thinking he was protecting some area I needed to go. There is almost zero hand holding, even pointing you in the right direction - and in absence of it, you might go do something you really don't want to do. It is fun and rewarding to figure it out, but it can be frustrating.

Part one had me stuck on the first big boss in the initial area, until I realized there was a better way than just going head on. Once I got that, then it all clicked. I have a feeling a whole lot of people are going to download it, get to that guy get pounded into dust a few times and say "screw this".

Sounds like my magic 2013 experience last night. Constant losing to the same revenge deck for 2 hours before it dawned on me that my strategy (which almost worked once) was all wrong. Switched decks and wiped him out first try. So frustrating but so satisfying. Hope I can enjoy the gameplay of dark souls enough to get to the satisfaction.

Yep, winning element is desecrated quite a bit in this game right from the start. Of course you will get better, a matter of getting 'used to' to enemies and their patterns. But it comes with great price of loosing many many times.

DS will definitely keep you on your toes.

I started to play and got to the first Boss pretty quickly. I would say controls are pretty descent. Block and dodge are my best friends, and I came to understand that rushing into attack doesn't really help much, patience is golden. So I got to the first Boss and he killed me of course. Second time facing him I rolled around dodging and memorizing his moves and timing. Third time I was glorious, with few swift strokes I cut the fucker down and thought to myself "damn I'm good" Ok, on the next level puny skeletons were getting pretty annoying, I'm like "ok, I can deal with that, I'm on top of the food chain here" With this in thought I was progressing forward until big bad knight appears from the alley down below and massacres my hero. At this point I said "screw this" fucker wasn't even a boss and my sword didn't do shit against him.

(Level up get better equipment and come back) - I'm so tired of that.

"Alright DS I'll get back to you some other time I'll rather go die in Dead Space"

Hopefully that means that the XB1 version is the lead version and then Sumo is going to try and take whatever's done for that and adapt it to the 360 and not that the game design of the XB1 version is going to be constrained to the 360's limitations.

It's not a trap.

The foreign marketplace bans were a one-time deal AND it involved doing a lot of shit we knew we weren't supposed to be doing (making foreign accounts, changing our console locale, etc.)

This is completely different, everyone feel free to grab it.

Yeah maybe I should have added an emoticon or something to make it clear that wasn't serious. I actually call everything free from MS a trap nowadays.

Also good news and bad news.

The bad: Ghosts is on sale for Gold members in my region.

The good: Doesn't seem to be on sale in other regions so it might be specific to mine. There's still hope.
