This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Why did that post three times? Sorry everyone
Because you're Batman.

How are you guys finding out about these price drops happening right now?
They're out wooing MS employees.

Do you need to play Smurfs 1 first or does 2 catch you up on the story?
More importantly do I get to eat any Smurfs?

Looks like Peggle 2 on sale for $5.99 for XboxOne
Damn, played thhat once. Knew I should have waited.

Peggle 2 is great, a bargain at that price imo. The GTAs are great, IV's DLC is better than the core game and V just got current-gen confirmed along with save transfer.
Hmm shit I missed out on Forza Horizons I but I ran out of hard drive space, crap lol. I hate that I have to have the space to download the game especially I just want to download and cancel so its registered.

It went on sale when GWG came to X1. Maybe a little before that. Replaced by Peggle 2.

Dead Rising 3 new DLC in co-op is great. The unlocks are so much fun to use. Has plenty of replay value.

See I loved RE 4 on the ps2 but I for the love of god can not play it on the 360. I can't get past the controls. And when you play such an intense filled action game as that one, controls are #1. Well that and ammo.
Control scheme #2 is very good, I played with it instead of the #1 and enjoyed the game a lot.

Man, I really want to get RE Revelations for my backlog.  That's a good price point.  There's a bit of a line though.  About eight games deep.

Meh sales, though I picked up Terraria for 5 bucks. Played it a few hours on PC and it's fun, rather play it on console though. Went back to the previous sale and got myself SR4 (gave up waiting for the ever-delayed Game Of The Century edition, will find the DLCs or pass for cheap eventually), Invincible Tiger (don't judge, most of it was paid with Rewards cash), and Far Cry Classic - which, between all the sales and stuff, was the only FC game I don't own on X360 (though I did play it on PC). Overall I'm fine for a while, and with 2 free games coming next week, I can't say I'm passing it bad for this E3 month.

About E3: I only watched MS's conference live and watching trailers for everything else. Gotta say, good times for X1. I don't want to get into a fanboy fight, I don't care about who had the best conference since most games were multiplatform anyway. But I LOVE the fact that nearly every game that I want to play (except Uncharted 4 and Project CARS plus maybe a couple decent-looking indies) does have the X1 logo at the end - exclusive or otherwise. The new COD looks so much better than Ghosts (wasn't difficult). BF looks like having a solid campaign at least. Batman and Unity have insane graphics and look a lot of fun. Forza Horizon 2 looks insane, plus other things like the new Fable look fun enough. The new Xbox exclusives like Scalebound and Phantom Dust interest me a lot. The Division as sexy as ever, and Far Cry 4 looks a lot better than I expected too. The Halo Collection is an insane amount of value, and obviously I am also looking forward to Halo 5, despite the fact the last 2 Halo games didn't really grab me much. Mirror's Edge. No Man's Sky... these two games I will just absolutely love, I already know. And they're coming for X1. New Tomb Raider and the arcade Lara Croft game (which I also loved) getting a sequel... lovely. Plus all these dramatic indies (Inside, Ori, etc.) and other not triple-A games that do look like tons of fun anyway (like Get Even and Cuphead). So many great games, and virtually all of them coming to X1 - some are exclusives, some or not, but that hardly interests me as long as I can play it on my console of choice. And this E3, frankly, just makes me want to buy an X1 even more.

In Short, TLDR: PS4 Sucks

All you had to say bro

I ended up copping GTAIV

I didn't really want to buy forza horizon until the second one is coming up.

It has been hovering around $10 physical so, think I will be going that route.

Cool story bro, barely even mentioned PS4. I was talking about the fact that nearly every game I liked did have the X1 symbol at the end: some were just multiplatforms, others exclusives, but at the end of the day, some indies aside, I only miss Uncharted and Project CARS. Not interested in the spiritual successor for Dark Souls or Infamous (having tried previous game of them), and since I'm more partial to the Xbox brand, knowing that nearly all games that I liked are on X1 too, I'm probably picking that up. If "PS4 sucks" is all you got from that, you probably learn to read or take the Sony glases off.

XBox fan on an XBox thread.....crazy :D
I am very excited for all the Halo coming, and Sunset. I thought it was odd we didn't get more Quantum news and I wish we would have seen a Sleeping Dogs sequel. 2015 is the year of the Crackdown yes...

If I didn't read the first one what makes you think I'll read the second?

Is this seriously the whole sale?

Shitty stuff.

Tempted on Horizon and GTAV, but not completely sold. I owned V but traded it in before I beat it. Is it worth finishing?

And Horizon. Anyone? Is it a good game?

I really am a fan of the game, I don't remember much but I really like it lol, Just typical old school arcade type racing with the twist from forza and good soundtracks that help the game go smoothly. :)

You're either lying, never had a true backlog in the first place or you're just my f***ng hero for digging through that bish. I came back to gaming about a year ago and my freaking backlog is about 60 or 70 games deep.

I'll cast my vote for Terraria.

I love Terraria.  The kids and I have a blast with it.  We fired it up for a few minutes this morning before work.  We played it last night.  I put them to bed then played for 3 more hours before forcing myself to turn it off so I could sleep.

So much to explore.  The kids open up new possibilities with their simple curiosity.  My son built a giant wall under him as he'd jump just so he could reach the sky and jump off and die.  In doing so he discovered a house in the clouds.  It's the little stuff that make this game fun.  I died by a giant curse skull last night, got blown up by a buried explosive, found a new flare gun, and discovered a hidden underground house all last night.  The kids were excited to see it this morning.

Plus I like being able to see the enemies coming and not have the camera controls kill me like minecraft.  I hate getting attacked and turning to fight only to accidentally press the stick too hard and change the camera.  Died so many times like that.  Don't have that problem with Terraria.

I'm really disappointed in the sales lately.  I've been diligently managing my bing rewards accounts trying to rack up ms points in anticipation of a good sale, but if they keep disappointing, I think I'll start trading in by rewards points for Gamestop credit iso I can put it towards a PS4.  I'm assuming, that is, that there is no way to cash in xbox credit for an X1 through MS.   I don't ask for much from an ms sale.  How about just a sub-$20 lego Marvel or AC:BF, half off Minecraft?  I suppose I could hang on to the credit and get Farcry 4 when it comes out, but even then I'm too cheap to pay full price, even if it is MS funny money.  Man, I'm thinking I need to go spend some time in a third-world country to put some perspective on my "problems".

Minecraft is 14 at Best buy right now in the deal of the day...

I also really enjoyed Terraria, but for people on the fence that have next gen systems keep in mind that it has been announced for X1 and PS4, and there hasn't been any mention of being able to get a cheap upgrade yet, but it's possible that they might do that.

That said if you don't have one of those systems or don't really care, it's easily worth the asking price!

Worth mentioning that Terraria is also going to be free for vita with ps+ this month, also.

Control scheme #2 is very good, I played with it instead of the #1 and enjoyed the game a lot.
I have to disagree. While control scheme #2 is better than the default, the whole "turning with the left stick" mechanic still sucked, and aiming was incredibly awkward. RE4 is the first RE game I ever played. I finished it, but I'm not planning to continue with the series, I just wasn't impressed.

Project CARS is multi platform :)

I'm in the own every platform boat personally. I do use my X1 most often, but that has more to do with where my closest friends play and needing Halo in my life. Needless to say, Halo: MCC is the greatest news that could have come from Microsoft, even in a fan dream best case scenario situation.

Sony definitely has their fair share of greatness in store also. I will get into Uncharted 4, it looks crazy good! Some of the exclusive indie releases and other first party releases that Sony brings our way. Their F2P initiative also has me intrigued.

The Wii U is also getting some stuff I have on my radar: New Zelda, X, SSB.

Every platform has the games coming, it just depends on what you're looking for. Maybe you only need one console, or maybe you need them all to get everything you want to play. Just like everything else in life, make a choice based on the available options and the information provided. There is no reason for anyone to be mad about any of these manufacturers or certain games not coming to another platform. We are all getting great games, be excited!

For some reason I was under the impression CARS was PS4 and PC. Well, good for us! Sony did indeed show some indie greatness, but with me being uninterested in their main IPs (except for Naughty Dog stuff and maybe Little Big Planet), it's really down to the downloadable and indie stuff. I'd play Rogue Legacy on X1/X360 having played the PC version to death, but since I also own a decent gaming PC (decent enough to play the indies at least, not even trying BF4 and such), thse PC+PS4 indies do not have an incredible appeal to me. Having said that, I'll likely get a PS4 down the line, just as I did with the PS3 to beat the exclusives that I'm really interested in, which will no doubt increase year by year. But to my tastes, Halo, Forza, Sunset Overdrive, etc. are more interesting than nearly any exclusive Sony showed, so I'm partial to it. The Wii U line-up is also starting to get meaty finally, that is also something I'd like to buy sooner or later given its competitive price. Not even a Zelda fan, but that new one looks fancy. Plus Bayonetta 2? The new IPs? Or even the already available Mario Kart... definitely better looking than a year ago.

Don't worry. The upgrade price between the 360 version and the Xbone version is confirmed to be $5.

Though I have no idea if this'll apply to retail 360 copies or not, obviously the upgrade will be to the digital Xbone version.

I played RE2 back in the day (psx) and didn't even finish the first disk (claire). But I loved RE4 in xbox360 and 1000'd it. I really was impressed with it, BUT you have to take into account that RE4 is NOT a classic RE game (it plays different), so maybe you could like the others in the saga.

I always thought the controls in the games before 4 were terrible. I'm playing as a super force agent dude and I can't even hit a slow moving zombie. Especially that camera.

In Short, TLDR: PS4 Sucks

All you had to say bro
Anyone who goes TL DR two words, missed the point and is talking out of their ass.

I have to agree with Baboy as there's a bunch of great games heading to X1. I'm even interested in Fable Legends and I had previously heard them saying Fable as a game service which gave me a caution to the wind moment.

This was confirmed for Terraria? I've heard $5 for Minecraft, but couldn't find any details on 360->XB1 upgrade or save transfers for Terraria.

For those of you on the fence on Peggy 2, in my opinion, the game is pretty beastly. It's quite a bit of fun and if you're a completionist like I am, you will get plenty of play time. I got it on day one and don't regret, 50% off is a good deal. Of course, the game isn't perfect - some achievements are glitchy but obtainable and I wish there were more masters to play with.
