  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Thanks, Bloomy, for mentioning that you need not own an XB 1 to "purchase" the free games. By the time I do have an XB 1, I should already have a pretty sizeable game collection.

I tried to get the xbox360, Street fighter game, but it is trying to charge my CC.  Do I have to get it on xbox?

On the console, you can do it no problem. On the web, even though it's free, they still need a CC tied to your account for web transactions. Some have mentioned before using prepaid CCs with a low balance so that may be an option for the future if you're interested.

Not sure why it works differently between free XB1 games and free 360 games. I don't have a CC tied to my account, but could get the XB1 games from the web.

Got $25, I'll go up to $30 maybe on RYSE. Maybe. I know it's like $20 on gamefly but since I got that MS from generous people last week when gamestop was giving $5 free I racked up a few codes.

And also it would be great if we could get a gears sale tomorrow. I bought a cheap 360 on craigslist for gears + all my DLC. I regret selling my old one. Anyway this thing looks like it was kept in a dirt clod for a month and the disc drive is going out so I'll be going all digital with these cheap 360 games.

I only have $15 invested in it, so I'm not too upset.

Get a guy to lvl 10 (football guy is at 8 and pea shooter at 8 also) get myself to 50 (42 right now). Beat garden ops on craaaaazzzy difficulty, tried it once so far, got to round 7. Kill 500 pirate zombies, and defuse the gnome with 3 seconds to spare.

I'm playing on 360. I was skeptical to buy this game but I really got sucked in once I did.

I use to pin the games I get through XBL (both GwG and games I buy) so I don't forget about them, and I can easily redownload them later if I want to.

Not that I blame you. I've been waiting for the ME2 DLC to go on sale for... oh... 2 years now? I was insistent on waiting for a GOTY edition that never came. *sigh* Still don't understand why they didn't bundle that game.

You and me both brother. I've had a stash of Bing points to cash in for the eventual ME2 sale. I had hoped MS would have had a sale on it right after the recent flash PSN sale.

Its apparently your nature, which is pretty unfortunate for you but at this point I dont feel like carrying this on any longer

yea I knew it was on sale, I didn't have a copy at the time I just now got back into the Mass effect craze so if 2 dlc went on sale I would pick those up.

If it's a sports sale, FIFA would be a no-brainer (and potentially get me to spend money). I highly doubt it though, we haven't had Bioshock in a while so...
