This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I admit I'm dense on this. So you can play the maps for free if you play online for free but no local co-op with those maps if you don't own the pack. Same with the weather effect maps?

Thanks. Wish the season pass was a bit cheaper.
Yeah, there was a free online only map pack, and to play those maps in horde you need the horde command pack, which is part of the season pass. The other 2 map packs are not free in any modes.

Friends,

Still not clear on whether the gears 3 pass is still worth it in 2014.
Have all the maps been released for free for Horde mode? Have the weather effect maps been made available as free dlc too?

Any insight appreciated. I love horde mode.
The Horde Command Pack unlocks access to 3 maps (Blood Drive from Gears 2 and the new Azura and Rustlung) that are already on the game disc. In order to play Horde or Beast on these maps, the host must have purchased the pack, but no one else in the lobby needs to have bought it. So it's possible for them to come up in public matchmaking, just means whoever got host bought that DLC. If you want to play Horde or Beast in private on those maps with friends, at least 1 person must have bought them, and they'll be hosting.

When the free Booster Map Pack, containing Bulletmarsh and Clocktower from Gears 1 and some multiplayer models for the later DLCs, was released, the HCP maps were made free only for Vs. multiplayer. Using the HCP maps for Horde and Beast still required the host to have bought them.

The Forces of Nature and Fenix Rising packs need to be purchased for use in any of the modes.

Episode 1 of basically any of the recent Telltale Games on XBL or whatever are always the base game. Meaning the episodes from there after are DLC, excluding say season 2 of TWD which counts as a different game despite your stats carrying over.
I get that episode 1 is the base game and later episodes are considered dlc. If I understood his question is whether it makes a difference buying the dlc within the game vs direct from the marketplace. I thought there wouldn't be an issue buying the season pass now and picking up the base game (episode 1) later.

I thought so, or something like that. But i'm on the fence because of this, having to rebuy it in-game, i undestood as if it would make my purchase on the marketplace obsolete.
Once you purchase the Season Pass, you simply boot-up the core game (once you've purchased that, too) and under the DLC menu, you simply download the other episodes, for perfect clarity here. There's no "re-purchasing", and the Pass themselves are very small files (less than 1mb usually) that tell the game you're permitted to download the other content in-game. Don't think that you have to download these enormous files multiple times to register them or something along those lines.

Oh i get it. Guess i'l go for it then!! Thanks a lot everyone!!

Aww crap... Halo 4 is still too much, if it was $10...def, at $15 I'll pass. DA2 for $5 is totally bought though. Possibly Arcania as well, the screens look good on it.

Blackgate is the only thing that's tempting, but since it's WB Games I know it'll be on sale again and probably for cheaper.

Also I just finished Boardwalk Empire. Richard Harrow is without a doubt the greatest thing about that series.
I hope your right because at 8 bucks I'd buy it, but 10...errrr...I am wondering if its an upgrade over the 3DS version.

Damn at 5 itd be a no brainer but 10... given that I already own it on 3DS.......damnnnnnn I dont think I can pull the trigger.

Has anyone out there played both and can give a recommendation to buying it (again)?

Arcania is alright...just alright. Its like a Two Worlds - Risen - Divinity 2 type game.
Well I did like Two Worlds 2. Got the remastered Divinity 2 Saga too, though I haven't played it much yet.

Oh...wait...I did try the trial of Arcania a while back...did not likey at all...graphics/character models were really dated on it and the voice acting was just aweful.

What exactly is Batman Blackgate anyway? A new game? DLC for an existing Batman game?
Blackgate is a stand alone Batman game. I have only played it on 3DS and its pretty good (I like it). Its like a mix between a metroidvania and the new Batman games.

If you've got and/or played the 3DS version is it worth it to own this 'DELUXE' version?...I dont know thats what I want to find out.

You should like it then. I actually (and this is me personally) liked it somewhat better than Divinity but only by a hair. I haven't played Arcania all the way through so in the backlog it sits but I'll get back to it soon. Its got its framerate hiccups now and then, I didnt notice anything too bad but they are there at times. Honestly, if you've ever played any of the Gothic games on PC then you pretty know what your getting here because it really doesn't deviate much from that formula (so both the good and bad from them gets transported here as well).

Arcania is the only thing that remotely interests, but its the type of game I'd rather have physical. I guess another day of not spending my XBL moniez

I'm not really into Halo so I'm in the same boat, just a bit too much. I have DA2 on PS3 but might buy it again for $5. Arcania I'm tempted on even knowing that it's supposed to be a mess on 360 just because it's $5 but I don't know.

Batman... I'm just going to throw my hands up as I have no idea.

I Doubt for $10 it'll be worth the upgrade. I Think the main difference in Vita versus 3DS was just it looked alot sharper and smoother, but didn't change overall experience and I don't think they did that much more in upgrading it from Vita to the consoles. Plus WB Games have gone on sale a few times on XBL, though not as much as Ubi or 2K, but still steady enough where I wouldn't be surprised to see it for $7 or less come the Holiday time.

There is, or was, a game trial for Arcania on the marketplace, if you're on the fence download it. I completely forgot I tried it out, two different times actually. Seriously, save your $5 for something else...lol. MAYBE if it was $2.50, but IMHO $5 is still too much for it.

I'm off, Night All =)

I agree, the trial was pretty horrible. Best bet for those on the fence is to just google reviews and youtube videos and make your choice that way.

I saw that but I just filled up my whole HDD last night. Worst part is that there's stuff in there that looks good even though I know better. Blasted YouTube reviews making it still look kind of cool.

Same thing with Batman.

I had previously posted that I was getting 400 days, which I did, but I forgot that I didn't have season 2 yet, so I bought that too. On the fence with duck tales (tried the demo, it was OK, but I never played it on cartridge, so no nostalgia effect for me), and I'd jump on Blackgate if it was a little cheaper, but $10 seems a bit steep.

Anyone else get the xbox one headset by microsoft? Had it price matched at best buy from amazon for $61.23 and I got a $20 best buy gift card along with my purchase for that. Don't see it listed anywhere. No deals this week for me, hope next weeks deals for x1 are better.

Banjo Bundle is coming out today (the 9th) for $14.99. Which is cheaper than buying just one since it's the same price as the cost of one of the 2 games.

Thing is even though it's doubtful to happen, I think I'm gonna wait till this week sale is up to make sure the 1st banjo game doesn't go on sale.

Last edited by a moderator:
nevermind dumb question. i think that may be the closest thing to a deal we ever get for the banjo games.

Last edited by a moderator:
$15 is fair for the Banjo bundle, $10 would be ideal but I'll take $15. Especially with the $5 codes from Gamestop promotion the last few thursdays. I'll also wait till the sale is over just because there might be other games I want that get put on sale. Already picked up Halo: Spartan Assault and King of Fighters XIII. Nothing for me today though thankfully as my HDD is getting quite limited at this point.

Source? I wonder if it won't go live in the morning as the sixth featured game still.

I expected them to put TWAU on sale again today since they're releasing the season finale. I'm glad I got it months ago, it's just too good.

I'll have to start again TWD Season 2 because I don't forget what I did in the first episode (bought it when it was 1€) :/

Got Trials Evolution and KoF XIII. (Even though I just got the CE from the TRU clearance. Might just keep that sealed for a while.)

Considering Spartan Assault, but I probably don't need it... do I?

Welp I got out of bed to buy KoF13.  Decided to sell my sealed copy instead of never opening it and instead never play the digital version. :whee:

Finally got Halo Spartan Assault. It may be free on the Xbone, but $3.50 is a lot more manageable then $400 right now.

Thank you for the great explanation. I suppose I need to pony up and buy the season pass.

Sincerely, Chad

This is part of tomorrow sale. Any idea?

(let me know if you can't see the pic, first time using tapatalk picture uploading)
Looks like a goblin of some sort. It's not a goblin from Overlord. Might be from Wreckateer, which would be a crappy addition to a daily sale.

Okay, so now that I know it's legit and not a bogus scam, I would strongly encourage using the perk tv app on any android or ipod/pad/phones that you have sitting around. Your phone plays videos, you get points, you use the points for free gift cards. I have been trying it for a week and just got $20 worth of xbox credit. (I'm running 3 old android phones over wifi to run the app when I'm asleep and not home).

I would give you guys a referral code but I'm sure there is probably some sort of rule against that.
