This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I'll agree with everyone else, Bioshock: Infinite is a must by at that price. And I wouldn't say that you have to play Bioshock 1 & 2 before Infinite, but I highly recommend doing so. Bioshock is hands down my favorite game of all time. Bioshock 2 is pretty much just more of the first game, only with better gameplay but a less interesting story and characters. Bioshock: Infinite pretty much has it all. Great gameplay, story and characters. The only thing is was missing is Rapture, and that's the only reason Bioshock remains my favorite.

So to anyone that hasn't played this series yet, would you kindly do yourself a favor and play it already?

I Look forward to the new deal of the week now just so I'll have nothing to be excited and then be disappointed over by on a daily basis.

I can second this. The first Bioshock was so original and had an amazing story, it still remains my favorite bioshock and definitely one of my favorite all time games. I think bioshock infinite is well worth the $10 to those curious

Sooo 20 for MW3 you guys feel is still to much?
If you like a solid CoD campaign and MP, it's easily debated but I have taken a stand against buying something that insists on putting out a sequel each year for more than $20 unless it's truly a step forward. I will say it's got a surprisingly active MP community still considering a few have been released since.

So the final day is just...

Bioshock Infinite...No thanks
Damnation...No thanks
Nascar...No thanks
MW3...No thanks

What a crappy way to end an Ultimate sale. Guess I'll grab Off the record and wait to see what the Sale of the week turns out to be.

tempted by bioshock infinite but the disc version is $15 right now and a goty/complete/columbia edition should be announced soon.
Gotta keep in mind Irrational is no more, so while it's still perfectly possible, it'd be up to 2K to put it out, and they might be making enough off the game as it stands to hold off a while longer especially considering they have the franchise in their hands now, and likely wanna stagger that and the inevitable next game in the franchise out evenly as they can.

Well actually Irrational still exists. Just not the way we want it to. There is still a team that will make games but it is small like about a dozen.

Just floating an idea, but what are the chances we'll see a Bioshock 1/2/Infinite Remastered collection for the current generation at some point? I'd at least expect them to re-release Infinite as the PC version was superior in a few ways, my guess is they'll just release the trilogy in one box at some point, but that's just a guess. Some fans took some assets from the first game and brought it into Unreal 4 and it looked amazing. Would love to see them do this to the whole trilogy.

Picked up The Bridge and Pac-Man Museum.  Gonna wait and see what next week's deals are, but will probably end up biting on The Witcher 2... 4 things (got TWD S2 pass on day 1) from a WEEK'S worth of daily deals and I had money to burn... tsk tsk microsoft. =/

I know, right!?!

I was seriously hoping for Fall of Cybertron to go on sale. I mean new movie, new game, perfect time for a sale, and yet a two year old game is still $60 on the marketplace.

So my list of everything bought this week is...

DR2 OtR
Bastion +DLC
GoW3
RF Armageddon
DA2
FO New Vegas
Dishonored

Kind of sad the Ultimate Sale ending with a whimper instead of something really great.

Well they're officially announcing Tekken 7 on stage at Evo right now since it was leaked earlier today. SF4 finals should be starting shortly.

Does OTR have the stupid clock? The clock ruined 2 for me.
People keep mentioning this and it's been a while since I played 2 but I don't remember it being particularly different than the first game which was really strict if you wanted to actually save people and get certain endings.

OTR has a clock for story mode BUT it has sandbox mode that allows you to explore and fight zombies clock free.
A clock in story mode just kills it for me. I play games for fun, adding a deadline for getting stuff done really messes with my enjoyment. If it's a mission that has it no big deal but when it's the whole game that just ruins it in my opinion.

Painkiller has a 53 on metacritic

I've played games with way lower scores that I enjoyed

Don't let other people tell you how bad a game is, just because they don't like it doesn't mean you can't love it
I'm glad you posted that. I thought Metacritic was an accurate rating system until the last year or so when games I liked had such low ratings. As a matter of fact I was going through my PS3 backlog and saw a rating of 26 for this game called Rogue Warrior. The only bad thing I got from it were the over the top dialogue where every sentence had at least one curse word. Controls and gameplay were excellent.

I just finished the Painkiller demo which took me close to 30 minutes. It's nice to see a game where you can have a simple weapon like a shotgun kill multiple enemies on screen instead of one monster. I also like their melee attack which is a soul draining option from one of your weapons.

Sooo 20 for MW3 you guys feel is still to much?
Yes. My personal rule for purchases is $20 or less for discs and $10 and under for digital. Rarely do I break that rule.

MRW the Ultimate game sale started and then the rest of the sales up to the final day today

kevin-garnett-angry-gif.gif

BI is a great game at a great price, but c'mon.....it's been on sale several times and already at that price around $10. Bring on the Rockstar or CoD crap for date night :twoguns:

Closer to 7-8, and while they're former Irrational employees - Ken has said before that they aren't a formal studio anymore, but rather a small team under the 2K umbrella that is able to focus on smaller projects going forward.

It's plot driven, though. I can understand if you'd take issue with a random clock placed in games, but when centered around a city being nuked at a given time, or a virus spreading through your system - doesn't it add to the weight of your actions moment to moment to know you can't be wasteful and need to think about the next move constantly? Could easily just be personal preference, but I enjoy it.

It's totally possible but I'd wager it coming out as a fan mod before it's ever made as a shipped product. There's a chance 2K Marin, the team now responsible for the franchise, will move right on into HD remakes, but Ken Levine (Creative Director of the BioShock titles) has made it clear that he has no interest in reskinning System Shock 2 or BioShock to make it more attractive just because he doesn't feel it adds anything to the game, and while I think BioShock is beginning to look dated in places, it's definitely still perfectly great looking enough to play and enjoy no matter how many games you've played since.

Just chiming in...not a fan of the clock either. There should have been an option to turn it off right from the start. I like to play at my own pace, not having a game dictate how fast I need to go to get stuff done.

That's part of the whole point of the series though. The zombies aren't really that dangerous on their own but that people are in danger, that you have to prioritize, make choices and take risks keeps you from slowly making your way through them. If everything just sits and waits for you to do it on your own time at your own pace the impact of your choices wouldn't br nearly as great. It's got some rogue like qualities in that you're supposed to fail, learn, grow and play it multiple times in multiple ways.

Bioshock > Bioshock Infinite

Infinite felt less meaningful to me. Little to no explanation for the plasmids, and much easier gameplay with the shields, health changes, and constant "Booker, catch!" (female character constantly providing you with items, for those who don't know)

Also, the upgrade/cash system is a little stupid. If you have trouble with an area because you're too weak or just not good enough at the game, you'll keep dying. That means you'll keep losing cash, and that means that you can't afford to buy upgrades for guns or plasmids that might help you progress through the game.

I think Bioshock 1 helped mitigate that problem by using Adam to buy some upgrades instead, but I can't remember for sure.

I did enjoy the story, characters, and the other content and I think it is at least equal to Bioshock 1 in that respect. Still worth $10. But for me, Bioshock is the best one.

I have to say this wasnt a horrible sale by any means but it wasn't for me. I was on the fence for Dishonored, Ducktales, and Dead Rising but passed. I have only enough GS xbox credit for Magic on Tuesday and the rest is being saved for the Banjo collection unless we get confirmation of when it will be taken down (if at that).

I posted about the Banjo bundle earlier and Glass Ghost gave this link

lasts for a month

Yeah, it wasn't a terrible sale, but I just didn't pull the trigger on anything that I wanted, or just couldn't make up my mind.

I'm also just migrating more towards the XONE now and rarely use my 360.

And that's why I never actually finished the first game. I hate doing things repeatedly and under time constraints. If they gave us the option to turn off the clock I'd probably like the series a lot better from the start of game one.

Play on 1999 mode and Infinite is not nearly as easy as people say.
But isn't that unlocked after I beat the game? I don't have time to play a game twice (at least not back to back). I think that's kind of an antiquated idea, locking harder difficulties.

And Eld, I watched the Blazblue finals you posted. Man, that was tense! Worth the watch for anyone into fighting games.
