This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

You showed all the cards, some folks actually might feel bad they missed out on these freebees.

Yeah them good times! I kinda have sentimental attachment to these games and it's hard to delete them from HD, but ArcaniA is gone, < ---nope don't want that game.

So I didn't realize Peggle 2 was currently an Xbox exclusive. And it is really on sale now. Should I get it?

Haven't started my Bioshock Infinite playthrough yet. Would anyone say the Columbia's Finest pack is worth getting since it's not part of the season pass? Thanks.
Other have commented, but in case you or anyone else is still on the fence: the gun upgrades take the place of the first damage upgrade you can buy with an automatic 35% increase (normally only 25% more damage). Mostly only helpful at the beginning of the game before you can afford upgrades, and pretty much only for 1999 mode. If you're the kind of person who wants to play 1999 mode (unless you're just doing it for gamerscore), you probably don't want them anyway. The gear is just okay; Handyman Nemesis for an extra 50% damage vs Handymen is nice, but not necessary; Extra! Extra! just gives you a bit of extra cash for finding collectibles, and Fleet Feet never seemed to help that much, since if you get caught way out of position on 1999 mode you'll probably die anyway. I can't even remember what the others are because I never used them (in-game gear was always better).

Basically, I wish I had saved my $5, and I still wouldn't buy it for $2.50 unless you're getting super frustrated by the early-game on 1999 mode.

So Bioshock Infinite transitioned from daily to gold exclusive price, with a $3 difference for GoD.  And Burial at sea dlc is $5 off, ok, still not going to bite that.  If it was 50% off and came to 15 for both eps 'a different story bro'

Why do people want singleplayer games on GwG?

I would prefer if they gave more multiplayer-based (either cooperative or competitive) games on GwG so that they revive those communities. Games like Bad Company 2, Halo Wars, COD4, CSGO, MOH Warfighter, GRFS.

They already did this with Gears, Halo 3, SSF4AE, Dead Island, Dark Souls, Rainbow 6 Vegas. I pay for Gold mainly because of multiplayer, give me a reason to keep the subscription :/

Prepare for the anti-social single-player gamer shitstorm.

I personally think they will be giving out more of the type of games you mentioned (like Gotham City and Battleblock this month) for the exact reasons you gave, but one of the benefits to single player games is that people can add them to the backlog and work on them whenever they want, even offline if need be. I played Gotham for the past week because I didn't want to get on the game months later and not be able to play with a lot of people, even though that wasn't really what I had wanted to play at the time. Now that I've gotten all the achievements, I can play the games I actually had planned to play.

Aside from that... which GWG games will still be playable in 2 years? Not the MP ones, because the servers will be taken down by then. I'll take the SP ones that I keep and can play forever, thanks.

So all in all, I came out with a lot of shit I already owned, and some nice new toys.

Firstly, between all the GS giveaways, I only grabbed $25 bucks total. Not because I didn't want more, but because that's plenty of free fun for me and others deserve some just as much as I.

That said, it definitely influenced me to think of some of the pricier purchases as being "discounted" further by taking some from that credit. Silly way of convincing myself to buy things, I know, but whatever.

TWD Season 2 SP (Grabbed Ep 1 for a buck before so whole season for under 10 bucks is AWESOME!)

Trials Fusion (Got a PC key for review but much prefer to jump in on 360 for ease of playing with friends and whatnot.)

Crysis 3 (Grabbed 1 on sales AGES ago, and had 2 on disc, so desperately wanted this to finish it out)

Split/Second (Way too many on here, GAF, and elsewhere saying to jump in to not pull the trigger and DAMN this game is a good time!)

Painkiller H&D (Yeah, I know - I got it for exactly what it is, not because I'm convinced it's anything more.)

Banjo Games Bundle (SHIT YES! Been dying to have BK digitally and grabbing both for the price of one is about all the push I needed)

BioShock, BioShock 2, BioShock Infinite (I own them all already, the first two twice over on disc, but this franchise is not only my favorite of all time, it's the reason I am who I am as a person today, and to be able to jump between any of these digitally whenever I choose is like a dream)

Thanks for the info, dudes. If it makes you feel any better, you could get your hand cut off for theft if you actually lived in Oman. So if you only lost access to Xbox Live, you got off pretty easy. :}

wow. None of this content is worth me losing my live account. Too bad for those players.

I like seeing single-player game offerings.  It probably depends on the type of game, but last time I had multiplayer on GTA V I heard the most aggressive dudes firing off racist epithets at each other.  This happens more often than not, and it's sad that finding civilized folks on multiplayer is the *exception* rather than the norm.

Typically I keep a mic attached just so I don't have to hear anybody, then I turn that headset volume all the way down and just have it beside me while I play any MP games.  Kudos to games that have a mute all function, though.

In regards to today's sale, tempted to get the Burial at Sea episodes.  Wonder if they'll go on the cheap come Black Friday/holidays again, though?

Best way of muting game chat is to just start a Xbox live party by yourself. Automatically mutes all voice in game chat.
This is generally how I play. Then, if I do want to listen or speak, I can just switch the chat channel instead of going to the dashboard to reset privacy settings.

Aside from that... which GWG games will still be playable in 2 years? Not the MP ones, because the servers will be taken down by then. I'll take the SP ones that I keep and can play forever, thanks.
In a few years those SP games will be dirt cheap (look at Skate 2 or L4D2 for example), but you can't buy a MP community (unless you give the games for free of course). And you don't know if their servers are going offline, Halo Wars and COD4 for example are P2P as opposed to BadCo2. But why would they pull down his servers soon if they haven't pulled BC1 servers yet?

An XBL Gold subscriber is a potential multiplayer gamer, so he may help giving new life to a game that's dead otherwise. And maybe buy DLCs too.

Are you saying people that refuse to play multiplayer games aren't social otherwise?
And some of us have really shitty connections that make trying to play online a severe test of patience. Some days, it's lag-free and others I get dropped over and over and just say fuck it.

I've got a quick question about the Bioshock Infinte Season Pass, which costs $19.99. If I buy the season pass, then I would get both the Burial at Sea episodes, right?

yeah plus the clash in the clouds (whatever its called) dlc aswell as some good bonuses for single player. That clash in the clouds dlc is like score attack mode in bioshock. If you like that sort of thing its good, but the Burial at Sea episodes are beautiful. Minerva's Den from Bioshock 2 is regarded as great dlc but Burial at Sea makes that look like a joke. By far my favorite story dlc. I wish I could erase all memory of it just so I can enjoy it again.

Awesome. Thanks for the reply.

Bioshock Infinite had such an amazing and memorable storyline that it makes me so stoked to find out what new storyline that Burial at Sea has to tell.

Am I the only one that thought Doom was better than Wolfenstein 3-D?

If they added Doom 3, I would have bought it.
Doom, as a game is far superior to Wolf 3d, as it should be since it was Wolf's successor.
Now the XBL game on the otherhand was a slipshod port that seems like they gave it to an intern to churn out over a weekend. Don't get me wrong, I still played the fuck out it (and it's been one of my "I want to play this game with friends..." beacons that no one pays attention to) but the controls are a clumsy disaster. Doom 2 has better controls but I find it thematically less-charming than 1.

Ever watch the Adult Swim cartoon? Hilarious stuff, some of the same people too. I had that theme song as my ringtone for MONTHS. "Dy-no-mite, dy-no-mite... du-du-du-duhn...

Annnd for some further semi-O/T discussion: I picked up an online order from BestBuy.com for a $15 MS Currency card that was on sale last week and, aside from a terrible customer service experience doing so, my code says it hasn't been activated. Anyone else have to go through this with them...? They're going to make me go back there, aren't they? :heavysigh:

Just a thought but perhaps some of the anti-socials actually have to spend the rest of their time around people (either at work, at college or in their personal lives).  Go to work - interact with people.  Come home - play single player.  Then go out later with friends or play basketball with friends in person.  One could certainly argue that those who simply play video games online or use social networking rather than social interaction are the anti-social people.  :)

More importantly, if I download a game to an external hard drive for the :xb1: can I hook that up to a different console without transferring licenses and all that stuff?

What's with this "anti-social" thing.  It's like everyone is taking that so personally almost at face value.  Is it because we are in the age of information & communication?  Ohh wow I better get out from my cave.

Who gives a shit! You can nominate me for 'the most antisocial person of the year' awards.  I talk to birds and dogs and flying rats, ppl are not on my list.

This. I have a gf and a kid. Plus I spend 9 hours a day, 5 days a week hearing people complain to me because they are too stupid to understand a bill.

I don't have the desire to sit around and playing games with twits I don't know, plus why should I? I don't need a multiplayer experience to enjoy gaming. We didn't need them during the NES, SNES, Sega, etc. days. Why all of a sudden is multiplayer so important? They are all pretty much the same anyways.

Your an oldshool gamer, you have to know that multiplayer isn't something that just sprung up over night. A better question might be what oldschool classic games DON'T have some form of multiplayer since they were so prevalent. Online play was also available on the SNES and Genesis for a time back in the day. And really, they are all pretty much the same? Your telling me Split Second, Street Fighter IV , Halo 3, and Puzzle Fighter are all pretty much the same in multiplayer?

I got no problem with your dislike of multilayer, just the reasoning behind it.

Multiplayer on XBL was at its biggest when I was in college, imo. That was the time from halo 3 - black ops 1. Everyone...everyone I knew played. MW2 was the biggest game for me and my friends. I saw so many folks online back then, now they've either retired from playing multiplayer or you'll see them on the occasional BF4 or halo, maybe an older cod.

One thing is that multiplayer experiences are so broken, mixed in with the kids that play 10+ hours a day all day everyday, then of course the community. Titanfall was the first game this gen I got excited about multiplayer wise.

Then there's the wii u. MK8 and Super Mario 3D World are still probably the best multiplayer experiences you can find right now and with Smash coming soon that's good news.

MK8 was fun online, but felt like single-player. We tried split-screen and it was too weird after so many years of playing XBL (Smash should be fine though). For all I know online play is just a bunch of bots with difficulty raised because you can't interact with other players other than a few preset messages in between rounds like "That was fun" and "I'll get you next time" (without being able to direct the message towards a specific player).

I picked up Painkiller because my plan of buying 1 thing everyday last week failed horribly. Ended up with just KOF and Painkiller. Sad to see LocoCycle isn't X1 deal. KI needs to get that community tab updated. Was really hoping for $5 LC,

^i was more referring to couch co OP on MK8. It would've been cool if they have the option for one person to use the tv and the other the gamepad
