This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Did you play Doom 2 as well as the first? Big difference with all the "secondary" stuff, eg. Map navigation, how you select your guns, etc.

In contrast, my favorite port was the PSX version, dat soundtrack & lighting, it still makes me all a'flutter.
Just look at this 90's badassery:

Oh, protip if you plan on buying Wolfenstein XBO when it's on sale in a few days: rent it from a video store, or even Gamestop if you have credit and install the disc first. Otherwise you'll be downloading 49GB!
i know digital only freaks that rent games from redbox to install then buy digital

It would be great if Redbox over here would carry X1 games. Over a year now since their petition that got a lot of attention to remove X1 drm.

Painkiller H&D is fun. Kind of like Serious Sam without a wacky character and a fraction of the enemies (sooo many in SS).

New Minecraft cartoon texture pack looks great and only $1. Got it hoping it will transfer when X1 version comes out.

So after dragon's teeth finished downloading I will be down to 700MB free :/

Time to get another 32GB flash drive to shuffle things off...

If anyone here is getting the Destiny beta for PS3 and would like to try it on the Xbone also, I'll trade one of my spare Xbone codes for a PS3 code!
Why didn't you just redeem the codes you wanted it for? lol

I didn't even realize that the PS3/PS4 had a earlier start, Luckily I had a PS3

Didn't even realize it

Because I can only redeem my code for one platform. I chose Xbone since that's what i'll be playing the final game on.

Please, that's why you have to click yes like eight times.
Keep in mind that children use consoles, so making it difficult to format the drive is a very good thing. My nephew will just keep pressing A and blow by any warning that comes up. I once had to fix his 360 because he'd somehow put it into the Singapore locale.

I believe that's why these things are loaded with parental controls.

Nanny state, thanks Obama.

I played for a year without spending a dime on the packs, the only reason to buy the packs was to get the gear faster. Still miss the nightly matches and events, again, it was the only mp that I've ever enjoyed.
According to Raptr's time-log thingy, however accurate, I've spent 383 hours on ME3. Two full playthroughs and the rest MP!

The best thing I like about its multiplayer was just being able to dabble in whatever class I wanted to without having to play it in single player. I was always curious on how the other classes played. Varying loadouts, which is better, what works in this or that situation - especially maxed out! Then they added a bunch of free maps and a lot of variety in characters/classes.... Shiiiiiiiiiit what's not to like?

Odd there were problems with Guacamelee on XB1, since it's supposed to be free for the entire month.
Speaking of which: is it possible to 'buy' it through the website despite not owning the console? I keep having issues doing it; i had no prob sith Max game.

Anyone ever have issues with an item they bought not showing in Download History? I can't find 2 of the Fallout 3 add-ons that I know were purchased in maybe 2009.
Are you looking on the console or web site? I bought the Fallout 3 add ons in '09, too, Operation Anchorage in June and the others during the holiday sale, and they're all in my history. If you're checking on the web, are you using a browser / plug-in that disables scripting? The web download history only displays a partial list when you load the page, then fills more in as you scroll down.

official date given for the Banjo bundle:
@majornelson: A classic Banjo Games Bundle is available for Xbox 360, and it's on sale through August 8th http://t.co/rS4WK9MuNZ/s/YeMr
Still not clear whether the bundle will disappear on August 8th or just go up in price.

Yes, I've been doing that. Make sure you're signed in to the site. The 360 site uses marketplace.xbox.com while the XB1 uses store.xbox.com, and your logged in state doesn't always carry over between those subdomains. Someone mentioned yesterday they were having issues with Guacamelee. The status page notes an issue about "Buying downloadable items", but the description implies it's just for TV shows.

Anyone got a month of XBL or some credit for sale on the cheap? I'm nearly broke and the ole lady is goin on vacation with some friends next week so I'm gonna need something to do

You can go the marketplace and find it. It'll have a check next to it showing that you previously purchased it. Hope that helps.
Thanks to you and Bloomy. I was looking on the console. They were still showing up with a price yesterday, but I didn't actually go into them to see if they'd allow me to download again.

Girlfriends account expired the day before Battleblock went free.  Anybody got a good lead on a cheap month card?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I had to use the direct link. Even when I followed the steps it wasn't appearing for some reason.

I just checked my history and it was filled with shit I forget I bought (and that's just going back a few months). There were a few items listed as "not available" but I'm pretty sure they were either expired gamer pics and/or demos. Still sucks I can't redownload them, but whateva. I'm glad you brought this up because a few days I tried to redownload stuff from the Ultimate Game sales and some of those games were not in my history on console. Everything comes up now though, the service alert on xbox.com said there are problems with past purchases.

Speaking of which: is it possible to 'buy' it through the website despite not owning the console? I keep having issues doing it; i had no prob sith Max game.
I had no problems getting the free xbone games on xbox.com, but that was a couple of weeks ago.

Did you redeem codes for XB1 stuff? The games don't show up on the 360 web download history, but add-ons will show as unavailable.

Yeah, I redeemed a Killer Instinct code, that one always shows unavailable on my 360.

The rest of the unavailable items were sandwhiched in between gamerpic and demos  from 2008.

Yep, hopefully the website will show Xbox One purchased content too soon.

Also Pinball FX2 is coming to the One, hopefully 360 purchases tables crosses over to the One but we'll see.

They've posted on Facebook today that they're doing everything they can to get the cross buy available. They're also not happy about MS not allowing it.

Strange how some games are allowed cross-buy and others aren't. Call of Duty, Assassins Creed, and Minecraft all have cross-buy. The first 2 being only available for a limited time and don't think details of MC cross-buy have been released yet. Maybe they had the option to cross-buy for a limited time, but didn't take it hoping MS would allow untimed cross-buy.

And in related news, they released the last of the missing Zen Pinball 2 tables on PS4 with full Cross Buy support. This a reason why I stopped buying Pinball FX2 tables on Xbox 360 even with that big sale that happened right around the same time that this news first started breaking out, as I don't want to support the version where the publisher quashes any chance of this sort of thing.

Well if nothing else it's confirmation that the Banjo bundle won't be having any additional discounts and now's the time to buy it if you want it.

They won't. Devs confirmed it on XBA.
Really? That sucks because they had said back when they announced it that they wanted to do at least a discount or something.

I think Minecraft is more due to it being Minecraft. Microsoft let them get around a number of rules because they knew the game would be a big hit.

Those are all third-parties, so they have at least some power to get MS to match what they're doing on other platforms. With their own titles, Microsoft has shown that they don't care about doing that kind of cross-platform support.

Reading through their forums and a few articles, it sounds like they will be able to cross-buy tables eventually. Seems like their original plan was to change MS mind by making a bunch of fans angry (which is working). They weren't aware of other games that feature cross-buy until today. Now that they know, they will ask MS again (they tried late 2013). Maybe all of this could have been avoided if they just asked MS a 2nd time.

"Kirk said Zen noticed there have been developments on cross-platform compatibility, particularly with regard to Harmonix's Dance Central Spotlight, in which songs downloaded in the series on Xbox 360 will be available when Dance Central Spotlight launches in September. Why should they have to do this extra research to find out that it's possible way too late for launch instead of Microsoft offering them the option to do so when Zen asked about it originally?
